Every week, the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Anti-Cheat Team identifies and imposes permanent bans on an average of 60,000 to a maximum of about 100,000 accounts involved in the use, distribution, or sale of illegal software. Despite the significant number of bans, players continue to encounter cheaters. You might have wondered why progress seems slow, considering the large quantity of accounts banned each week. We have also recognized that a more comprehensive approach was necessary to address this issue effectively. Rather than solely relying on permanent bans, we realized the need for a fundamental solution involving the analysis and tracking of accounts utilizing illegal software. Given the severe impact of cheating on ranked matches, our focus today will be on discussing the accounts that are deliberately supplied for the purpose of cheating in ranked.
The Supply Routes for the Accounts Used for Cheating in Ranked
In ranked matches, there exist various types of accounts that utilize illegal software. However, the majority of these accounts can be classified into two primary categories: 1. Hijacked accounts and 2. Accounts that exploit the Survival Mastery Level system.
Let's begin by examining hijacked accounts. Through the analysis of data pertaining to permanently banned players from 2022 onwards, it has been observed that approximately 85% of the accounts permanently banned within the ranked player base were created prior to PUBG's transition to a free-to-play model in January 2022. This does not mean that accounts that had been consistently using illegal software since before 2022 have only now been detected. It rather implies that it is highly probable that cheaters obtained other players' accounts and started using illegal software on those acquired accounts.
Moving on, there are accounts that exploit the Survival Mastery Level system. Alongside the sale of illegal software, certain illicit vendors have established so-called 'workshops' where players can gain Mastery Level experience points through repetitive actions facilitated by macros. These vendors offer newly created accounts that have achieved the required level 80 to partake in ranked matches. Alternatively, if a hijacked account is at a lower level, they sell it once it reaches level 80.
Having analyzed these two categories, it has become evident that addressing the supply routes of these accounts used for cheating is crucial in establishing a fair gaming environment.
Progress on Countermeasures
To begin with, let's discuss our countermeasures to address Survival Mastery Level abuse. Previously, our approach primarily focused on specific patterns of abuse exhibited by players. This involved monitoring abnormal behavior, reviewing community reports, and analyzing the characteristics and patterns of abuse to establish ban criteria. However, we encountered two issues with this approach. Firstly, there was a possibility of overlooking new forms of abuse until they were reported and confirmed. Secondly, the low accuracy of abuse detection made it difficult to apply strong measures such as permanent bans.
To enhance our countermeasures, the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Anti-Cheat Team initiated the development of a machine learning model that could learn the characteristics and patterns of Mastery Level abuse. Utilizing this model, we have expanded and refined the criteria for detecting disruptive players throughout May and June of this year. As a result, we have observed several positive changes. The number of bans issued against disruptive accounts has increased by over threefold compared to the period before the introduction of this model. Furthermore, the internal monitoring process for suspected disruptive players/accounts has shown continuous improvement, and the number of monitored account vendors has decreased. We have also observed an increase in the prices of these accounts.
Now, let's delve into our strategies in regard to hijacked accounts. As many players have pointed out, hijacked accounts have been causing numerous issues, including the use of illegal software. Although considerable efforts have been made to address this problem, they have proven insufficient. In response, we initiated the development of a model capable of detecting hijacked accounts in addition to the model that identifies Survival Mastery Level abuse. Currently, we have reached a stage where we can ascertain the scale and attributes of these accounts and leverage this information effectively. Moving forward, our plan entails enhancing the accuracy of the model and employing it for diverse anti-cheat measures and services.
Concluding Today's Anti-Cheat Dev Letter
As discussed today, our current focus revolves around analyzing and addressing the underlying issues that give rise to cheating in ranked matches. Our aim is to disrupt the supply of accounts used for cheating by targeting the source.
As mentioned in our previous Anti-Cheat Dev Letter, we need your assistance to combat those who disrupt the gaming environment. Ensuring account security plays a vital role in preventing cheaters from hijacking accounts. Therefore, we urge you to prioritize account security to safeguard your valuable account from abuse. Specifically, for Steam players, please make sure that you have set up the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator. We assure you that we will continue to diligently monitor and enhance our systems, ensuring that your efforts to protect your account are not in vain.
Stay tuned for future updates from the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Anti-Cheat team as we will continue to share more about our ongoing efforts and progress!

< Dev's Comment >
Greetings players, In-Game Dev Team here to discuss the latest update to Tactical Gear.
Throughout the years, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has continuously evolved, seeking to introduce diverse gameplay experiences beyond what has become the standard. Our goal has always been to ensure that all players, regardless of skill level, can feel like they're meaningfully contributing to their teams. As part of this mission, we introduced the Tactical Gear system. This unique addition allows players to strategize and adapt their approach based on different situations and equipment types, enabling each team member to also take on fresh roles.
Tactical Gear has received positive feedback since its launch, but we observed instances where players had to sacrifice their primary weapon slots to make room for Tactical Gear, leading to challenges in combat. Balance issues also emerged with certain gear like the Spotter Scope and Tactical Pack. To address these issues, we made several balance adjustments and introduced a renewed Tactical Gear system in Update 24.1. Our intention was to underscore the strategic aspects of the game and offer players more options to personalize their playstyle, enhancing the diversity of gameplay.
However, we've been receiving substantial feedback post the 24.1 Update, suggesting certain Tactical Gear was excessively potent.
We first wish to clarify that we approach any balance adjustment with a comprehensive analysis of community feedback and gameplay metrics across all maps and modes (solo/duo/squad). This process also applies to Tactical Gear. For instance, while certain gear was more favored in smaller maps/solo players, it was less popular in larger maps/team play.
The Blue Chip Detector was one such Tactical Gear. According to our internal data, it was particularly popular in smaller maps and solo modes. Though it ranked lowest in terms of win rates across all Tactical Gear, it provided a significant advantage during early combats by making enemy location easier. This ease of locating enemies, especially among seasoned players who rely on sound play and world terrain for positional awareness, was seen as diminishing the tension of the game and causing stress, as it exposed their locations easily.
We had initially planned to monitor the status of Tactical Gear post the 24.1 Update to gather more precise metrics, but the feedback and the actual in-game usage data led us to conclude that the stress caused by the Blue Chip Detector was significant. Consequently, we've decided to remove the Blue Chip Detector in this update.
With regards to the EMT Gear, we recognized that it was over-adjusted in the 24.1 Update, as we previously determined this gear had overly potent features, such as self-heal boost effects and reduced time for teammate healing/revival. Therefore, we have carried out minor enhancements.
Lastly, the All-In-One Repair Kit has proven its worth as a valuable tool, enabling players to repair crucial equipment in various situations. Our metrics show it as one of the most effective Tactical Gear, recording the highest win rate among all. Thus, we've decided to reduce its usage limit in this update.

Hello PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS fans! We, the Out-Game unit, are thrilled to finally bring you the much-anticipated Arcade update. We understand that the separate operation of the Arcade and LABS services until now have resulted in some inconvenience for our players.
Therefore, over the past months, we've approached the redesign of the Arcade from a standpoint of 'needs' and 'nice-to-haves'. Throughout the development and discussion process, we've iteratively added and stripped back elements of UI, art, text, reward quality and earning methods, and other related specifications.
With Update 24.2, we are excited to usher you into our revamped Arcade mode. Here, you'll not only discover a variety of gameplay but also a new rewards system. Reacquaint yourself with past LABS favorites, exciting new modes, and the thrill of Team Deathmatch, among other features!

Out-Game unit here again, excited to present another update for the Reputation system! In this update, we strived to transcend the conventional 'good manners' metric to an embodiment of specific in-game virtues (leadership, skill, communication). Consider, for instance, the following scenario: Teammate 1 is knocked out and isolated in a building surrounded by an enemy squad. Teammate 2 coordinates the rescue, instructing Teammate 3 to assume the role of a sniper stationed on a nearby ridge, while Teammate 2 and Teammate 4 dive in for the rescue. Teammate 3 strategically pings and creates a distraction for enemies outside the building. Meanwhile, Teammate 4 utilizes a Smoke Grenade to obscure visibility and enable a safer revival process and Teammate 2 provides support by launching merciless bullets at approaching enemies. At the end of the day, Teammate 1 can choose to compliment Teammate 2 for being a Fearless Leader, Teammate 3 as a Skill Master, and Teammate 4 a Communication Specialist.
Our intent is to kindle a quest for honor amongst all our players, fostering an environment of better in-game behavior. While we acknowledge that attaining a high Reputation level will undoubtedly present a challenge, our objective is to preserve the prestige and recognition associated with such an achievement, symbolizing a player's consistent demonstration of excellent skills and courteous gameplay. The compliments are meant to serve as feedback on recognized virtues, providing positive reinforcement and guiding your in-game performance to new heights.
Rewards
- The BP rewards you obtain after a match have been boosted substantially. ㅤㅤ- This enhancement will be more pronounced for players at lower skill levels (in terms of ranking, kills, damage, etc.). - The display of BP/XP match reward details has been removed from the in-game Match Result screen. These details are available on the End of Match page. - The contents of the Supply Loot Cache obtainable through events and Survival Level progression has been enhanced. ㅤㅤ- Credits (5/10/15/20) will be provided as the guaranteed reward instead of the former BP reward (100/200/300/500). ㅤㅤ- The bonus contents you can acquire with an additional chance have been updated to the following: ㅤㅤㅤㅤ- Costume and Gear Imprint (Individual) / 1 Key Fragment / 2 Key Fragment / 3 Key Fragment / 4 Key Fragment ㅤㅤㅤㅤ- The probability of acquiring Costume and Gear Imprint have been substantially increased. ㅤㅤ- Information on the full composition of the Supply Loot Cache can be found at the Workshop - Regular Crafting page. ㅤㅤ- If you choose to open Supply Loot Caches earned before the 24.2 Update, after the 24.2 Update goes live, the contents will reflect the updated reward composition.
Match Ranking and Stats
We have received a considerable amount of feedback regarding discrepancies between the players' subjective interpretation of in-game rankings and stats, compared to the objective data available through Match History or third-party sites. To mitigate this gap and to provide more reliable responses to your inquiries, we have adjusted the logic of ranking and stat determinations.
- Ranking and stat are now calculated at the point at which a player leaves the match. - Leaving the match is defined as instances where players intentionally leave the game, such as selecting "Leave Match" or "Exit to Desktop" options. - If a player is disconnected due to issues such as game crashes, it isn't classified as leaving, given that reconnection is feasible and intent can't be easily determined. ㅤㅤ- In the event of a reconnection, the final ranking will be reflected according to the rules for solo and squad play situations below. ㅤㅤ- If reconnection is denied, we interpret this as an intentional leave, and the player's ranking will reflect the circumstances of their disconnection or crash. - Solo: Upon a player's in-game death, their individual ranking will be determined at that exact moment. - Squad: If all squad members have perished, the squad's ranking is determined at the point of the last player's death. If one or more squad members are still active, your ranking is determined at the point when you exit to the lobby. ㅤㅤ- We chose to base the ranking decision on the moment of exit to the lobby, rather than the point of in-game death, in order to take into account the value of spectating. As long as a player is contributing to their team through spectating—offering guidance and maintaining an advantageous position—their ranking is equivalent to their team's. However, if a player exits to the lobby while any of their squad members are alive, it is considered as leaving the team and their ranking will reflect that particular moment. ㅤㅤ- For instance, if a player disconnects while their team is in 3rd during spectating (even if the team later advances to 1st), the player's team ranking is locked in as 3rd. ㅤㅤ- When a team member's character remains alive in the game, that member is deemed to be actively participating in the match, irrespective of their connectivity status. Consequently, even if a character belonging to a player who has already left the match continues to survive alone, the ranking and stats of the player who are still engaged in the game can potentially fluctuate based on the timing of that character's death.
Customize
Character Page
In a bid to streamline the customization process, we've enabled simultaneous adjustments to Costume/Gear skins and character appearance on a single screen. - Added a new "Character" page in the Customize menu. ㅤㅤ- The existing Wardrobe and Appearance screens are now available under a single tab. - We've redesigned how you equip/unequip costumes on the Character page. ㅤㅤ- 'Save/Reset' feature: you can now preview and either save or reset a range of skin items and appearances all at once. ㅤㅤ- Gear and clothing slots are displayed separately. ㅤㅤㅤㅤ- The slot box surrounding the character will change based on the selected gear/clothing skin. ㅤㅤ- We've revised the UX/UI for the gear display feature. ㅤㅤㅤㅤ- Your highest level equipped gear is now showcased in the Gear screen. Slots with no gear equipped will remain empty. ㅤㅤㅤㅤ- A gear level filter button is now available, offering a temporary display of gear at the selected level. Selecting any other gear item will deactivate this filter.
Preset Slots
- Preset Slots are now part of the PUBG Plus Status account's benefits. Remember that adrenaline-pumping Zone Tag mode? Well it's finally back, but this time in different colors! Curious to learn more?
Check out more information below.
Basic Rules
Prepare to conquer the snow-laden terrains of Vikendi and the urban maze of Deston.
Zone Tag is a fun twist on the Battle Royale mode with some exciting rules sprinkled on top. For starters, there is a Ball that if possessed, lets you seize control of the Blue Zone! With the Ball in your grasp, the Blue Zone becomes your shadow, trailing your every move. Beware however, as you will become a magnet for everyone on the map.
General Settings:
Map: Vikendi / Deston (Random)
Perspective: TPP (Third-Person Perspective) only
Team Mode: Squad Mode
This mode is played as a team composed of 4 players.
Teams can be premade before the matchmaking process.
If a team of less than 4 players tries to find a game, the remaining slots will be filled randomly with other individuals to complete the squad.
Solo Squad play is not supported in this mode.
Minimum players: 24
Maximum players: 100
AI is not available in this mode.
The Ball & Blue Zone
What's this Ball you ask? It's actually quite a sinister entity that randomly attaches to one player at the start of the game turning it into a wild chase. Aspiring to be the protagonist of this mode? Well good luck to you and your Ball, because your opponents will never back down.
Don't sweat it too much though. Here is some quick info to get you started:
At the start of the match, the Ball is randomly attached to one player.
The player with the Ball is highlighted by a beam of light that can be seen from a distance.
The Ball guides the movement of the Blue Zone, meaning that its center moves along with the Ball.
If the carrier of the Ball is knocked out, killed, or enters a restricted area (like water), the Ball automatically drops.
If the Ball is not held by any player, it seeks a nearby eligible player. If there are no eligible players nearby, it moves toward the center of the map.
The Ball cannot be manually dropped or passed between players.
If the player holding the Ball remains stationary for too long, an anchor is generated. The player must move away from the anchor, or they will lose the Ball.
Despite the Ball's movements, Blue Zone's phases still occur, causing it to shrink and the damage to increase over time.
At Phase 6, the Ball disappears and the center of the Blue Zone is locked until the end of the match.
Restricted areas
Entering a restricted area detaches the Ball and makes players ineligible to receive it for a short period of time.
Restricted areas include small islands and inaccessible rooftops.
Players receive damage upon entering water, detaching the Ball.
However, this rule doesn't apply if the water depth is low.
The fun doesn't end here! In this mode - speed is the name of the game. And what's the fastest way to move? Vehicles! So, buckle up and get ready for some crazy action!
Vehicles & Movement
Fasten your seatbelts, folks! In this mode, speed is literally the key to surviving. Yes, you heard it right - the faster you move the healthier you'll be! Not only that but vehicles in Zone Tag mode also don't take any weapon damage and provide infinite ammo while driving one. In this version of Zone Tag you'll find even more vehicles than before so get ready to put pedal to the metal and outpace your enemies!
Check out more details down below:
By default, all players receive a healing buff, where health regeneration is based on movement speed. The faster you move, the more health you regenerate per second.
Vehicles are immune to weapon damage and tire puncture.
Reloading weapons inside a vehicle does not consume ammo.
The Ball carriers cannot use boats.
The overall number of vehicles spawned has been increased compared to the previous Zone Tag iteration.
