Ever since PUBG’s Early Access back in March 2017, we’ve worked to improve all aspects of the game. One focus over the years has been the game’s sound, a key part of making the Battlegrounds feel as real as possible, while giving you the information you need to take home the chicken.
As we continued to make changes, some players found that our new sounds, while more realistic to the weapon’s sound in the real world, were not the sounds that they had come to know and love for PUBG. With our focus on realism, we were hesitant to simply revert the changes and instead looked for ways to improve the newer sounds.
Despite our efforts however, there was still a significant number of players who preferred the old sounds. We’ve been discussing how best to address this problem so that we can achieve our creative vision of realism while also listening to some of our most dedicated players. Here is what we’ve come up with:
A new menu will be added to the game settings that gives an option to choose between the old and new sounds for specific weapons.
Four weapons, the M249, M416, SKS and Kar98k, can be adjusted. (The UMP is not included as its sound was replaced due to an ammo change.)
We’re looking to have this ready for the February 2021 update, as we still need some time to develop, optimize, and verify the system.
We thank you for your patience as we explored our options with these sounds. Now that we have a solution decided upon, we’ll work towards getting it ready for you as soon as possible through our normal development process.
Sound is a very important part of PUBG and we’ll continue to do our best to provide a more enjoyable and seamless sound experience.
NEW MAP: HAVEN[/h1] Welcome to Haven, an industrial island in the rust belt of America.
Here, players will take each other on in the dense, urban streets and rooftops but this haven is anything but safe. Players will be faced with a new threat during their matches, an enemy faction working against them. This faction, named Pillar, is heavily armed and is none too happy about you being on their turf. You'll have to avoid the Pillar Scout Helicopter attempting to track and spot survivors from the sky. Those unlucky enough to be caught by its spotlight will need to move quickly to avoid the Pillar Tactical Truck as it closes in and attempts to quickly eliminate its target with bullets and fire. Finally, players will have to deal with Pillar Guards and Commanders. These soldiers are heavily armored, but those who manage to take them down can find powerful gear in the caches they guard.
Haven is a dense, 1x1 urban map and supports up to 32 players at a time in Duos or 1-Man Duos.
The Districts of Haven
Carbon SteelworksAt the center of Haven, we find a massive mill- the Carbon Steelworks Complex. Explore it's fiery depths to secure precious loot, or use your parkour skills to explore the rooftop! This location offers gunplay at all ranges, but be sure to check those dark corners!
Coal Yards An industrial wasteland: traverse material piles, climb cranes, and make sure you aren't too noticeable under the florescent lights. The Coal Yards are a sniper's paradise!
Industrial Zone To the North, players will explore the Industrial Zone. Comprised of factories, chemical manufacturers, and storage facilities, players must navigate long range encounters in the field, and brutal closed quarter combat indoors.
] Residential Zone Explore the heart of Haven- the Residential Zone. Fight to the very top of our high-rise apartments, and use the tactical parachute to float down to the crowded streets below, and be careful- the Pillar Tactical patrols Main Street!
OverpassRunning through the center of Haven, the Overpass serves 2 functions. If you go under- you are shielded from the Scout Helicopter, but will encounter other players. If over- you are most likely alone, but a sitting target for the Scout! Choose wisely!
DocksTo the West, the well-lit docks provide generous cover, and traversal opportunities for players to take advantage of! And players who don't mind a high risk/reward gameplay can use the old barges as a shortcut!
Seasonal Match
Haven is a Seasonal Map only available for the duration of Season 10.
Haven is only available during Season 10.
TPP & FPP.
FPP only for NA and SA
32 players each match.
No normal bots in the map acting as players, or included in the player count.
Duo Mode only, including 1-Man Duo.
Match length is shorter than other maps. You'll earn around 70% of the BP compared to a full-length match on another map.
You can work towards Mastery, Survivor Pass and BattleStat progress in Haven but your stats aren't recorded in the Career tab.
Pillar Guards and Commanders
Beware of the Pillar, an enemy faction offering an entirely new gameplay element not seen in existing Battlegrounds. Guards and Commanders are distinct looking opposition which protect certain areas of the map, working as an additional factor you have to contend with while fighting against other players to claim the Chicken Dinner.
Members of Pillar protect their respective areas and attack players on sight.
Pillar Guards hold basic equipment while Pillar Commanders hold top-tier equipment.
Once attacked, they send backup requests to Pillar Scout Helicopters which can then in turn alert the Pillar Tactical.
Spawns only in Haven.
Pillar Supply Cache
The Pillar Supply Cache replaces Care Packages, and require cache keys to be looted.
Players can gain cache keys from defeating Pillar Commanders.
Once the cache is opened, all players can approach the cache and loot it.
Spawns only in Haven.
Pillar Scout Helicopter
This helicopter roams the skies of Haven, detecting players hiding in open spaces.
A spotlight is shone directly on detected players and their position is relayed directly to Pillar Tactical. Pillar Tactical then move out towards the highlighted players to launch their assault.
Spawns only in Haven.
Pillar Tactical
This scary piece of equipment roams around Haven and attacks players on sight. The Pillar Tactical cannot be destroyed, so if you run into one, don't try to fight it - just run away! This big beast even shoots fire bombs to attack players hiding behind cover in front of it.
Pillar Tactical communicates with other members of Pillar, responding to calls for backup and joining in engagements.
Spawns only in Haven.
Emergency Parachute
Emergency Parachutes can be found around Haven and used to quickly descend from high places and prevent fall damage. Don't forget to deploy the parachute when making that daring rooftop escape, because they won't deploy by themselves.
This is a single-use item which fills the belt slot of your inventory.
Spawns only in Haven.
Survivor Pass Season 10: Breakthrough
Survivor Pass: Breakthrough has all the gear you need to take on the mean streets of Haven. Matchmaking Changes
PUBG has several different game modes and two perspectives, this means there are lots of queues which need to be filled with players. Unfortunately, this can cause players to be spread too thin in some regions and cause lengthy matchmaking times and an otherwise poor experience.
Since the induction of Solo Ranked mode, we've been heavily monitoring the health of Ranked matchmaking queues specifically in each region and have decided to make some changes which we believe will have a positive impact on the overall health of Ranked long-term. We completely understand the removal of a queue you play can be very frustrating and we apologize if that is the case for you.
We're continuingly looking at ways to improve your Ranked experience and we'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions.
The following queues will be available for Season 10:
You can now switch to TPP after winning an FPP match to better celebrate your win.
Before, it was difficult to see your victory pose and awesome skins when winning a game in FPP.
Now, after winning a game in FPP, use the Toggle Perspective key (V) to switch to TPP and celebrate your victory.
Boost Heal Animation Improvements
To better visualize the affects of boosts, the Heal icon animation speed now changes between 4 speed intervals based on your boost level,
A quick reminder of the 4 boost levels and their effects:
Level 1: Heal 1 HP every 8 seconds
Level 2: Heal 2 HP every 8 seconds
Level 3: Heal 3 HP every 8 seconds and adds a 2,5% character speed boost
Level 4: Heal 4 HP every 8 seconds and adds a 5% character speed boost
Mastery Medals
New Mastery medals are now available.
Previous weapon mastery medals felt to us a bit underwhelming and difficult to show off to other players, so we've made revamped the mastery medals to make them more feel more worthwhile to work towards and show off to your squad.
You can earn Mastery medals when meeting specific conditions during games, so put on your try-hard pants and rack up some achievements!
View Mastery medals in Career - Medals.
There are Combat, Survival, and Commemoration medals.
15 medals are available to earn.
Earned Mastery Medals can be upgraded to a new look after fulfilling specific conditions.
You can only earn medals in Normal and Ranked matches.
There are medals you can continue to earn in a single match by meeting the conditions and medals you can only earn once per match.
The Match Results screen has been updated to include medals earned by you and your teammates.
Existing Weapon Mastery medals will be removed and their details will also be deleted from the match results.

Each year, we bring together the best in PUBG esports from all around the world to compete for the ultimate chicken dinner. We started out in 2018 with the first ever PUBG GLOBAL INVITATIONAL in Berlin, and in 2019 celebrated the first ever PUBG GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, we’d previously announced that we’d be postponing this year’s PUBG GLOBAL SERIES (PGS) and instead chose to hold the PUBG CONTINENTAL SERIES. While it wasn’t the same format we’d delivered in previous years, we’re thrilled so many of you have enjoyed and participated in the PCS action!
Now it’s time to look forward to 2021. We’ve taken the last year to dive into what makes a PUBG esports tournament fun and exciting, while also paying special attention to how that can be done in a safe manner for our players, fans, and staff. The result, we’re happy to announce, is the return of the PUBG GLOBAL INVITATIONAL, or PGI.S as we’re calling it!
What is the PUBG GLOBAL INVITATIONAL.S?
PGI.S takes 2018’s tournament and molds it into an 8-week esports festival where players from around the world come together and compete for a massive $3.5 million dollar prize pool.
So what does the S stand for? Lots of things, actually. The S is Survival, the core of what makes Battle Royale. It also represents the new Series format of PGI. It’s Supremacy, it’s Showmanship, it’s a global Showdown, and perhaps most importantly, it’s Safety. We’re taking big steps to ensure that PGI.S is our best tournament yet while making sure everyone stays safe.
PGI.S Details
PGI.S will be the longest global PUBG esports festival to date, lasting 8 consecutive weeks from February 2nd to March 28th, 2021. This year, we’re inviting 32 teams from around the world to join us in the Republic of Korea to participate in our safe tournament format. The total amount of prize pool will be 3.5 Million USD with 30% of the profit earned from Pick’em challenge to be added later on.
Regional Seeds 32 teams from around the world will be invited to PGI.S from the regions listed below. Full team list will be released at a later date.
Europe: 7 Teams
China: 6 Teams
Southeast Asia: 5 Teams
North America: 4 Teams
South Korea: 4 Teams
Latin America: 2 Teams
Japan: 2 Teams
Chinese Taipei: 2 Teams
PGI.S Match Details
PGI.S is made of two parts. Weekly Survival and Weekly Final.
During the first week, all teams will participate in preliminary 'Rank Decision' matches to decide their placement, with the top 16 teams participating in the first Weekly Survival match.
Weekly Survival will be held for a total of 16 matches during weekdays to select 16 Chicken Dinner winners.
16 teams with Chicken Dinners from the Weekly Survival will earn prize money and a spot in the Weekly Finals.
Once a team earns a spot in the Weekly Finals, the next highest ranked team from the waiting list takes their place in Weekly Survival and the next match begins.
Weekly Finals will have a total of 10 matches and a larger amount of prize money on the line, which teams will earn based on their performance.
The team with the most amount of prize money after 6 8 weeks will be the final champions of PGI.S.
*More detailed rules will be shared in an upcoming announcement.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions
We’re taking several very important steps to ensure that everyone participating in PGI.S can do so without risk or worry. We want our players and staff to have a safe environment so they can concentrate on the tournament.
We’ve built two weeks of quarantine time into team schedules immediately after they arrive and we’ll be providing various services to help keep everyone comfortable during their isolation. Furthermore, we’ll be following all government guidelines and safety precautions while enacting our own strengthened safety measures wherever possible.
Thank You!
As always, we thank you for your endless support, lifting up each new PUBG esports tournament far beyond our expectations. This last year has been difficult for many but your dedication and passion have made it a great year for PUBG esports, despite the difficulties and hardships people are facing. We’ll be back with more information on PGI.S soon, so stay tuned!
Update 9.2 has just arrived on live servers and brings to the Battlegrounds a new vehicle, a long-requested feature, a new character-focused pass, and more!
Tear up the terrain on the brand new Dirt Bike, a fast and responsive single-seater motorbike that now spawns across all Battlegrounds, except Karakin. The Dirt Bike is a great choice for quick escapes, fast travel to the safe zone, and you know, flips and stuff. Obviously.
Also debuting this patch is the new Driver Shooting functionality, which lets the driver of vehicles take part in the combat action. Pick up a sidearm and unleash some good, old-fashioned road rage. We apologize in advance for how much worse this makes your squad's already questionable driver.
A brand new pass is also now available, featuring Sadiya from Karakin's lore and motion comics. This bite-sized pass has 15 levels, each unlocking a piece of one of Sadiya's iconic looks. Pick up the new pass today and embody the Battle Bride herself!
There's plenty more to check out in Update 9.2, including bug fixes and sidearm weapon adjustments. For full details, be sure to check out the patch notes. For now, dive in to everything the new patch has to offer.
The new single-seater Dirt Bike is more than just a lite version of the Motorbike. It has its own independent clutch system to rev the engine, improved suspension for offroading, and some other fun features we know it won't take you long to find, not to mention another fun addition coming in the future. The Dirt Bike spawns on all maps except for Karakin and will replace 50% of the existing bikes out there. We're looking forward to a whole slew of new stunt videos with this one!
The Dirt Bike is a new single seater motorcycle.
Spawns on all maps, excluding Karakin.
Available in Normal, Custom Matches and Training Mode.
Characteristics
Great acceleration with a top speed of 130 km/h.
Off-road suspension provide superb performance on uneven terrain compared to other vehicles.
Outstanding maneuverability with the ability to disengage the clutch when handbraking to block auto-gearbox and allow hard turns while preserving engine RPM and momentum
Added ability to alter pitch using Shift and Ctrl keys during acceleration/braking.
New Feature: Driver Shooting
It's been requested for a long time and we're finally happy to add shooting functionality to vehicle drivers! The new system allows you to fire sidearm weapons while driving and maintaining control over the vehicle (albeit with slightly reduced response while reloading). This functionality works for most vehicles and there are a couple of limitations which you can read about below. We're excited to see the new kinds of gameplay that emerge from these additions, and please let us know how it feels!
Vehicle drivers can now draw, reload and fire sidearms while having full control over vehicle inputs.
The power of vehicle steering input decreases slightly when the driver is reloading.
Driver shooting feature is enabled in all vehicles except boats and BRDM.
Vehicle Aiming Overhaul
Driver and passenger views are now heavily stabilized while aiming. The camera rotation will not follow the rotation of the vehicle.
Driver and passenger TPP cameras have been adjusted and moved closer to the character for easier and more accurate aiming.
Aiming angles are restricted according to player visibility and relation to other passengers
For example, you're unable to aim fully upwards in a closed-top vehicle or aim behind if there's a passenger on behind you in a 2 seater motorbike
The camera will no longer flip sideways when vehicles roll or pitch upside-down.
Please see below for driver shooting enabled sidearms.
Deagle

P1911
P92
R1895
R45
Skorpion
Flare gun
Sawed-off
Sawed-off can only be equipped by drivers on Bike-type vehicles.
Weapon Balance Adjustment: Sidearms
With the addition of driver firing, we've decided now's a great time for a balance pass on those weapons. All sidearms across the board have received improvements to damage multipliers, aiming, ADS movement speed, and more. The goal is to make all secondary weapons more viable throughout the game, not just in vehicles. It's a pretty extensive list, so check down below for full details!
For detailed changes, please see below.
All sidearms
Increased headshot damage multiplier: 2.0 → 2.1
Increased limb damage multiplier: 1.0 → 1.05
Decreased aim deviation multiplier (aiming is now more accurate)
Increased laser sight deviation multiplier 0.3 → 0.5. This is to counter above mentioned change, making pistols more accurate in general but not totally dependent on laser sight.
Increased prone stance deviation 0.6 → 0.8 (less accurate in prone)
Now you are able to move faster while aiming or in ADS mode.
Increased aimed movement speed multiplier 1.8 → 2.0
Increased ADS movement speed multiplier 1.6 → 2.0
More accuracy while moving.
Increased min reference velocity for movement deviation (speed at or below which movement deviation is not applied): 160 → 200
Increased movement ADS stabilization (decreased weapon sway caused by movement):
Revolvers (R1895, R45): 0.2 → 0.9
Pistols: 0.2 → 0.8
Full-auto pistols (P18C, Skorpion): 0.2 → 0.7
Revolvers (R1895,R45) Now, you can shoot more accurately while moving
Decreased movement deviation multiplier: 1.7 → 1.4
Increased min reference velocity for movement deviation (speed at or below which movement deviation is not applied): 160 → 250
R1895
Increased damage: 62 → 64
Increased ROF: 150 RPM → 300 RPM
Heavily decreased aim deviation (because it cannot attach laser sight, so it is more accurate by default): 1.5 → 0.6
Increased recoil anim speed
R45
Increased damage: 55 → 65
P92
Decreased damage: 35 → 34
Increased ROF: 444 RPM → 600 RPM
P1911
Increased damage: 41 → 42
Deagle
Increased ROF: 240 RPM → 300 RPM
Increased recoil animation speed to better match new ROF.
We are constantly listening to your feedback and discussing community sentiment internally. After careful review, we agree with many of you that the Beryl adjustment with 9.1 update wasn't effective enough at reducing the strength of the Beryl in relation to other ARs and have made the following follow up adjustments this patch:
To reduce the difference in reload speed of Beryl with M416, Scar-L, QBZ, G36C following adjustments were made.
Magazine reload times of M416, Scar-L, QBZ, G36C has been decreased by 10%
Magazine reload time of Beryl has been increased by 5%
Horizontal recoil of Beryl has been increased

UI & UX
New feature: Team Finder
The new Team Finder feature lets you connect with other players before the match begins instead of being randomly matched up in the pre-game zone. You can let friends and other players know that you're looking for a team and accept invites to their lobbies. The Team Finder takes your selected game mode and language settings into account, so you know you'll matched up where you want to be. If you're looking to get some squad games in without the completely random element, try Team Finder today!
You can now look for a team to play with using the Team Finder function.
If you're not in a team, you can toggle team finder to let friends or other players know you are looking for a team and you'll then be listed on the team finder player list, waiting to be invited by a searching player. If you are already in a team or want to create your own team, you can invite players from the team finder list.
Settings
Team Finder will automatically be set based on your selected game mode, perspective and language settings.
The mic setting is automatically determined after checking whether you have a functioning mic connected.
Ensure voice input is enabled and not muted.
PUBG must also be granted access to your mic through your operating system.
Team Finder search and discovery are based on your local region
Players with same game mode/perspective settings will be shown on the Team Finder list
When using Team Finder for Ranked Matches, only players in similar tiers will be shown.
New Feature: Lobby Chat System
Another new method of communication with your teams is the new lobby chatbox. Now you'll have access to text chat with your team before you enter the game and drop onto the Battlegrounds. Lobby chat features spam, ad, and abusive language filters, and also let you report anyone using it inappropriately. For now, Lobby Chat is only available on PC versions of the game.
You can now text chat with party members in the lobby.
Spam and toxic words are automatically filtered.
You can report players for using abusive language and spamming or advertising.
Please note, chat will be only available on the PC version of PUBG at the moment.
PUBG ID Visibility
When killing other players, your PUBG ID will be displayed to the victim.
PUBG ID will be also displayed in Death Cams and while spectating other players.
The PUBG ID will be also displayed when looking at stats of other players.
Other
Outgame UI components, such as dropdown menus and system messages have been visually improved to provide a more consistent experience.
Voice Chat 'ALL' is now disabled in Team Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch in arcade and Custom Matches will now have voice chat channel to 'ALL' disabled due to abuse which was disrupting gameplay.
Performance
CPU performance has been improved by cost optimization of characters outside the player POV.
Performance improvement by rendering optimization of atmospheric fog.
Optimized hitching that occurs when the plane is airborne in low specs/console environment
Optimized the excessive loading time when loading certain type of map in custom match sessions.
Vikendi Quality of Life Update
Vikendi is also getting a few small convenience adjustments this update. We've adjusted the circle settings to be a little more inland, removed some small clutter that was hindering vehicle movement, adjusted the number of house sets to make final phases more open, and more.
Fixed tendency for the first circle to lean too much towards the outskirts of the map. The Safe Zone will now commonly appear more inland.
We have removed small objects around farms and fields which were inhibiting vehicle movement.
The number of house sets has been reduced, as the space between house sets has been modified to ensure late game Blue Zones aren't overly abundant with buildings. We hope this will have more fights in the fields.
Large rocky areas around the center of the map and rocky hills at the East of the cement Factory have been changed to enable access while on foot and in vehicles.
Removed small objects around the river which were not able to be used as a cover and hindered player movement.

First off, thank you for all your great feedback on our last LABS offering. We’re thrilled that so many of you enjoyed Arena mode and the tactical team fun it provided. For our next LABS mode, we’re trying something a little more hardcore.
Introducing, Hardcore BR. PUBG Battleroyale thrives on its realism, but still provides several types of helpful UI to help you towards your chicken dinner. Hardcore BR tests your true mettle by removing much of the UI you’d normally rely on from the game.
In Hardcore BR, you and your squad will take to the frozen fields of Vikendi. Your compass, minimap, crosshair, and status ui (health, boost bar, equipment status, etc), as well as bluezone warnings will all be disabled. You will still be able to see the kill feed, remaining players, team UI, and parachute related UI.
We hope Hardcore BR provides a fun and challenging new experience, where teams are forced to rely on alternative methods of communication to track down and eliminate enemies. Teamwork and communication will be absolutely essential here.
We’re excited to see how you all adapt to this challenging way to play and look forward to hearing your feedback. Check out all the details below and get ready for some Hardcore BR!
