I’ve come to accept that battle royale shooters aren’t usually my thing, but knockabout team rumbles like tomorrow’s Plunkbat ‘Huntsmen Vs Marksmen’ War event and Fortnite’s 50v50 mode are right up my alley. Tomorrow, the cozy new battlefield of Sanhok plays host to a fast-paced team deathmatch, with players dropping in (and respawning) with shotguns and pistols, while supply drops promise rare and highly contested longer-range weaponry.

Hey everyone!

War Mode is back and this time we’re taking the battle to Sanhok! Players will be kitted out with a shotgun and pistol, ensuring everybody a non-stop hot drop! For those looking to avoid birdshot to the face, airdrops will be enabled and will contain either a Sniper Rifle or a DMR.

Please note that while credit towards Steam Achievements and Event Pass missions can't be earned in event modes, you will still earn Event Pass Play XP.

WAR MODE - HUNTSMEN AND MARKSMEN EVENT RULES
  • Each match takes place inside a small, static safe zone
  • All players spawn with a shotgun, handgun, frag grenade, and bandages
  • Care packages drop every 110 seconds and contain DMRs, SRs, and powerful items
  • Eliminating an enemy earns your team 3 points, knocks earn 1 point
  • Killed players respawn in planes that fly by every 30 seconds
  • The first team to reach 200 points wins
  • If no team reaches 200 points after 15 minutes, the team with the most points wins
  • Friendly fire is disabled


LOOT SPAWN RULES
  • Vehicles do not spawn
  • World loot does not spawn


OTHER EVENT RULES
  • Redzone is disabled
  • Killer spectating is disabled

Playerunknown s Battlegrounds fixes Sanhok glitches, but wider tech improvements still coming

While Fortnite is intentionally creating holes in its world, this week the handymen of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds are patching up accidental holes. The latest patch is bringing fixes for several irksome spots on new map Sanhok where dastardly players could creep under the ground or inside rocks to hide and even shoot out unseen. As for bigger fixes the game could still use, particularly to improve server performance and weirdness with hit detection, the wait continues. There is hope. Head chef Brendan “Plunk” Greene recently said that developers PUBG Corp are “refactoring” parts, rewriting gameguts to replace hasty fixes with permanent–and neater–improvements. (more…)

PUBG PC update makes Sanhok map prettier

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' latest PC update makes visual improvements to its Sanhok map, adds a new PGI theme, and makes adjustments to its UI during matchmaking. 

Tweaks to its Thailand-inspired 4x4 tropical map include the addition of cracked bells, mossy rubble piles and a new cap on the central palace. That looks like this:

Likewise, cliff faces and rock formations have been given a makeover map-wide. They now look like this:

All of PC update #17's nips and tucks currently apply to its test server, which also include terrain collision fixes and a PGI-themed lobby, BGM and loading screen. Here's that:

"When matchmaking, the game will now display an estimated wait time for finding a match," reads this Steam Community post, before detailing a number of bug fixes. 

The most relevant of those, I'd say, is crossbow reticles are no longer misaligned. As always, the latest PC update will be applied to live servers in the coming days.In the meantime, I thought this was amusing:

Hey everyone,

Update #17, featuring some terrain collision fixes, visual improvements to Sanhok, and special PGI themed visuals, has just hit the Test Server! The update’s patch notes can be viewed below. Once we’ve deemed this update stable, we will move it over to the live environment.

PGI Theme

  • To celebrate the upcoming PGI tournament, we’ve updated the game with a new lobby, BGM, and loading screen.
UI/UX
  • When matchmaking, the game will now display an estimated wait time for finding a match.
World
  • Visual improvements have been made to Sanhok.
    • Ruins

      • Added cracked bells, mossy rubble piles, and a new cap on the central palace.

    • Cliffs / Rocks

      • Enhanced the look of cliffs and rocks mapwide.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where the crossbow's reticles were misaligned.
  • Fixed an issue where some terrain in Sanhok could be passed through.
  • Fixed a few objects in Sanhok and Miramar that obstructed character movement.

I have reached a conclusion. Everything that’s bad is the fault of Steam sales. Two weeks ago these charts had reached a place of being a fertile ground of interesting new games and discounted classics. Today, they’re back to being mostly a miserably predictable list of games that even the undiscovered tribes of Papua New Guinea have on their Steam accounts. (more…)

I’ve returned from one final prenuptial jolly with the lads on Sanhok, the tropical island where antics flow like water, and at the foot of big top banter mountain stands my idea of heaven. Paradise Resort is rotting, the hotel staff are never around when you need them, and it doesn’t even have toilets, but you’ll not find a more perfect place to meet absolute bloody legends and go hard like it’s your last free night on Earth. We've been receiving some questions about the PGI Exclusive Skins and wanted to clarify exactly how to get them.



How do I get the PGI Exclusive Skins?
  • 1 exclusive skin will be distributed each day to those who attend PGI. See the image above for a breakdown of when each skin is available.
  • You must have a ticket and must be in-person at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany on each of the PGI dates to receive all the skins.
  • Skins will be distributed via a gift code.
  • If you’ve purchased tickets, but do not attend in person, you are not eligible to receive the skin for that day.
Will the PGI Exclusive Skins be sold separately?
No, they are only for PGI attendees.

Will I be able to purchase the PGI skins on the Steam Market?
Yes, items will be available on the Steam Market about a month after they've been claimed.
