Ma'Alaketh Dampening Field

One of the unique features of many Ma'Alaketh warships is the dampening field, which causes a distortion-like effect that reduces the chance of taking hits from enemy fire.

Once at full effect, these ships can increase evasion as much as 45%, albeit at reduced engine power and hull strength.

As Genari scientists in the Hendevanegh Matriarchy pushed for new technology to contend against Sol's more advanced ships, Nova Commander Devagh-Moshtigh believed in a very different way of combating the Imperium. Under his command, so many Sol ships had been disabled, captured or destroyed through marine assaults. Whether it was ships as small as the Honor Bound Corvette, or as great as his Firestorm Cruiser, they all had a significant complement of marines that were successful in maiming Sol ships in multiple sorties. He wanted something more; a marine combat ship that could be built quickly and cheaply, but withstand Sol long range attacks with the use of heavy armor and shielding. After 7 years of design and construction at the Deruz shipyards, the Overlord Marine Destroyer is now available for service. It is a slow ship that some Genari call the 'Laghposht' which loosely resembles an Earth turtle -- but has enough armor and force field strength to get within 1000km range of its target, with heavily protected engines. Once there, it can unleash a barrage of fission warheads to take the enemy shield down, and unload 8 platoons of marines, capable of decimating crews of frigates and destroyers.

New in-game graphics options are now available:

Those who have issues with game slowing down on areas with a lot of animation or big battle maps, you can tune down the graphics quality. Others, might want the full quality graphics and setting everything to the max!

Also, some who had problems playing the game since the new Unity upgrade, will be able to run the game successfully without graphical glitches by opening up the start menu for Spacewars and see three options:

  • OpenGL
  • DirectX (recommended)
  • Vulkkan

Typhoon Class V Beam Destroyer

As Sol began advancing on critical Genari core worlds, their massive battlestations kept Sol assaults at bay; the Nagara was the breakthrough in withstanding the station's heavy fire by being out of range of the station's heavy lasers. The Nagara however, was too expensive and only a few existed in service; the need for a smaller destroyer-class variant became the driving force behind the development of the Typhoon. Built around two heavy extended-range type-5 plasma beams, its engines were directly integrated with the beam's accelerator coils. Additional superstructure also gave it the stability it needed to support such massive weapons. It was Admiral Kurosawa's concept on a smaller scale; but such a ship is somewhat slower and more fragile than other destroyers, and usually best escorted by repair tenders and ships in the vanguard.

Congratulations to Blingon for his design of the new Liverpool IV! He is awarded 400 credits for winning the ship building contest.
Special mention also goes to Fox, with 100 credit reward and a free Liverpool IV.

Lore:
With over 40 years of service, the Liverpool frigate has been proven to be the most versatile and popular workhorse of the Sol Imperial Navy. There are now more Liverpools in service than any other frigate; and even though they are inexpensive to build, there always seemed to be a wait list on the construction of new variants of this class. Chief of the Arcturus shipyards Rear Admiral M. Forest noticed that the bottleneck lied with the supplies of Nakabayashi's PB-2 plasma beams. The companies' focus was on the more powerful variants; and the Benson Dynamics' PB-3 series were too heavy and overpowered for a frigate. Lasers were out of the question -- even though they were cheap and quite numerous, it did not fit the purpose of a Liverpool design. So Admiral Forest went to the original prototype Plasma Beam -- the PB-1. Though weaker in overall strength and range, it still had the accuracy and destructive properties of a plasma beam. It also was lighter than the PB-2, so the port and starboard lasers were replaced with them. Working a newfound arrangement with the CEO of Ming Industries' Shiro-Chan to reinstate the production of PB-1, this ship could be produced with even lower production costs than its original predecessor. With the help of hypercharging technology from the Leningrad Destroyer, these beams get a slight increase in destructive power as well, putting them on par with the PB-2.
