Patch 1.1 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you are using Steam.
This version fixes a small issue with Adine's sprite not appearing in Chapter 3 when going to the portal while she is disappointed. Apparently this issue was so rarely reported because players would rather not continue the game while not being on good terms with her!
The patch also adds a text translation for Brazilian Portuguese due to the efforts of Zeez (@zeez145, TiagoS#5071), which we greatly appreciate (Thank you Zeez!). I hope this will enable more players to experience the game.
Patch 1.09 is now live and should be downloaded automatically if you use Steam.
The biggest change in this version is the addition of Japanese! A language selector will now appear every time when starting the game. The language can't be changed during the game.
Besides that, we have also made a number of small improvements, which may be the last adjustment we make to the game functionality itself:
- Some ui elements were changed to be clearer. - Bryce's ghost won't show up in Lorem's first scene anymore. - Lorem's Orb is now easier to find.
However, we have noticed some of the larger underlying changes for additional language support may make certain save files from older versions unusable or behave strangely. This does not apply to the save of the game's overall progress, but just those of an individual playthrough.
In such cases, starting a new playthrough should work without further issues.
Why two different sites? Both sites gave us different opportunities that made some unique things possible.
For example, Sebastian's (Bastion) Breach playing cards are only available on Zazzle.
Pricing for similar items may also be different on the two sites, so depending on what you're looking for, one may end up better than the other!
Even more importantly, one may offer better shipping options to your country.
With this, we have answered to another request we have received many, many times since release of the game. Maybe some of you remember design elements that you can see here being teased quite a while ago in our social media channels, or you may recognize a certain piece of art here.
We actually commissioned a number of different artists to come up with some interesting designs - one of which made a piece of fanart before that prompted us to commission her to come up with more designs so that we would have one for each main character!
You can see the result of all this above! Feel free to browse - maybe you'll find something you'd like?
When we set out to do this, we knew it would be very difficult. By now it's taken almost two years to get to this point. I had zero experience with making something like this happen, and the challenges associated with creating something physical rather than just digital items like AwSW itself are very different.
Nevertheless, here we are - and the reason is simple: ever since the release of AwSW, I've been asked time and time again if we ever would make plush items of the characters. Of course, thinking of doing something and then actually doing it are two very different things. The fact that it has taken this long to make it happen is just proof of that.
But, anyways - the Bryce plush is now available for pre-order! This is a very necessary step for us, because this lets us know how many we should produce - manufacture is very complicated! We also need at least 80 pre-orders in order to make the production possible.
In a way, this is very similar to a crowdfunding campaign - because essentially we need enough pre-orders to show that people are interested in these! Can we make it happen? I certainly hope so!
Angels with Scaly Wings - The Animated Series is the newest, inevitable expansion to the much-lauded dragon dating media franchise "Angels with Scaly Wings".
The Animated Series has recently started development after years of fierce negotiation between M. B. Saunders, creator of Angels with Scaly Wings, and a number of well-known animation giants such as Didney and Dreamjobs.
If early rumors are to be believed, the series will follow an all-new adventure story that will bridge the gap between the events of Angels with Scaly Wings: Part 2 and Angels with Scaly Wings: Part 3.
While the provided details are sparse at the moment, it has come out that negotiations took an unusually long time because of Saunders' insistence that the series aim for at least an "R" rating.
"We never pulled any punches, and I wasn't going to start now. That R rating? I'll tell you it's not because of violence." , Saunders says in a statement.
Whatever Saunders may have meant with that statement, we will find out once the series release on (date), exclusively available on the Webflux internet content streaming service.
This day marks the second anniversary of Angels with Scaly Wings' release.
Reflecting back on the last year (and also last year's anniversary post), I feel I got distracted by a number of things not related to our next game that took much longer than anticipated, and as a result, I did not make as much progress on that front as I would have liked.
You can see the results of some of these efforts in the form of the wiki we launched, and more importantly, launching Angels with Broken Hearts - which instantly got much more support than I expected.
I have been amazed by the continued support of fans and new people who keep discovering AwSW every month.
My sincere thanks go out to everyone who has bought or played AwSW, and also the readers and patrons of AwBH, as it is because of you I can keep doing what I am doing. In turn, I hope not to disappoint with everything we've got planned.
Of course, there is now the steady release of new pages for AwBH, but that's far from the only thing we've been working on.
As I don't want to keep people in the dark too much and some of these things were already mentioned in last year's anniversary post, I again present a list of things we've spent time on last year:
- Angels with Broken Hearts: Getting AwBH started took much longer than expected. The script I envisioned ended up being almost the size of a novel, and it seems there will be a corresponding amount of total pages.
- Mobile ports: I picked up our older efforts to make mobile ports of AwSW again. A lot of progress has been made on that front and it would likely be very playable in its current form, but it is not bug free or finished yet. Ultimately this turned out to require a lot more work than expected, and so far the list of changes and adjustments that were necessary to bring it this far is three pages long - ranging from improving performance, removing bugs and changes to the UI, controls and game to make it more suited and playable on a mobile device. There are concerns that make me wonder if we'll even be able to offer it on Google Play or the App Store, but we will try to get it into the hands of interested people one way or another.
- Merchandise: After the recent polls we ran, it's probably not hard to guess what we've been trying to do. The process to get there was very hard, though. I am hopeful that our current efforts will pay off and that it won't take another year to do so.
- Board game: I spent a few months of last year designing a board game. It is based on an old idea I had, but it wasn't until I connected that idea with a story of mine that I got the inspiration to pursue this. I ended up pitching the result to a number of different publishers, and 5 of them were interested enough based on the idea and the rules I had written that they wanted to test it for themselves to see if it was something they might publish. I hope one of them will decide to publish it, although they may still end up going with a different theme than the one connected to my story.
- Visual Novel: The notes for our next visual novel kept expanding, as often even when working on something else I get ideas that will be written down. My plan for this year is to focus on our next visual novel and start official production with a team. It is my goal to finally show something of this game I've been cooking up for so long now.
As I wrote earlier, a lot of these things took a lot more time and work than anticipated, but maybe this just means that this year might become one that will be filled with a lot of different announcements!
This update brings some small, but important improvements:
- Improved language support on save/load screen - Sebastian's conditions should now work as intended - Fixed odd behavior regarding Adine's conditions - Having seen any good ending unlocks a new button on the main menu screen
Before Angels with Scaly Wings, there were Angels with Broken Hearts.
Angels with Broken Hearts is a webcomic that explores the lives of many characters from Angels with Scaly Wings, and takes place in three different settings - each drawn by a different artist.
