We are about to embark on our first update after launching Project New Leaf with the Fairwell Fairfight update. Through the links we provided here, we've listened carefully to your feedback on these topics and would like to share our conclusions.
We noticed that while the Fairfight adjustments were welcomed in general, there were more concerns around the Trader's Ribbon item and how it may make MapleStory 2 pay-to-win. This has been a concern of ours as well, that Trader's Ribbons could potentially make illicit meso selling a greater issue. Here's what we have in mind to combat that:
Legendary Gear Included
Trader's Ribbons can be applied to Legendary gear up to Lv. 50. With end-game gear being tradeable, we understand the concern that we are allowing players to pay to reach the end-game. However, we assure you that this will not be the case for the new end-game gear that we are planning to release this summer in our next major expansion update. We will discuss this further as the expansion draws closer, but our current plan is that Trader's Ribbons won't be applicable to the final tier of gear.
Additionally, in order to better manage the distribution of Traders Ribbons and reduce the impact of players with a large number of well-geared characters, all Traders Ribbons will be character-bound.
One of our (many) goals with Project New Leaf is to help more players reach an appropriate level and gear score in order for them to enjoy the content we're preparing for summer. We believe that allowing tradeable Lv. 50 Legendary gear will help achieve this along with other changes we will be making with Project New Leaf.
Meso Market and Purchase Limit
There still remains the concern of players buying large sums of mesos to bypass all gear progression. We will address this by setting a reasonably low limit on meso trading per account when we release the Meso Market in a future update. This trading limit will restrict how many mesos can be purchased over a set period of time, and be set so that it's quite helpful for low-level players, but not beyond what you can normally earn.
This means our version of the Meso Market will mostly be a place where low-level players can gain some extra mesos for progression, as well as a place where well-equipped players can get Merets for cosmetic purposes.
Illegal Meso Buyers
Finally there is the issue of illegal meso purchases. Even if the Meso Market functions as we expect, players who purchase mesos illegally through meso sellers may get additional unfair advantages. As such, we will be enforcing a permanent ban policy for meso buyers to ensure that this type of offense is handled promptly.
Effective immediately, any accounts with confirmed purchases from meso sellers will be suspended for 15 days and have all purchased material removed for their first offense. These accounts will be permanently banned for their second offense. We considered making the first offense a permanent ban, but we wanted to make sure that the player in question fully understands that this activity is not permitted. We will also be stepping up our efforts to identify instances of illegal meso buying, along with the new punishment measures.
We hope this helps answer your questions about Trader's Ribbons. We'll be sharing more detailed patch notes very soon, so please stay tuned. Thank you for listening, and thank you for being part of Project New Leaf!
The goal of Project New Leaf is to bring you a better MapleStory 2 experience through iterated changes based on feedback, not only making big, sweeping changes but smaller improvements as well. To get us closer to that goal, we'll keep adding quality of life (QoL) changes to the game alongside the main changes we disclosed earlier. Below is what we are planning on adding with the February 28th "Farewell Fairfight" update.
Fragment Tab in the Inventory: MapleStory 2 grants you all sorts of fragments for rare, powerful and special gear, but it's often difficult to reorganize the "Misc" tab with all the boxes and fragments mingled together. We will be adding a separate "Fragments" tab to your inventory where all of these fragments will be stored instead.
Inventory Expansion: With the above change, we will also be increasing the default inventory size of the following tabs from 36 to 48 slots.
Gear
Mounts
Catalysts
Fishing / Music
Quest
Gemstones
Currency
Notification Pop-up for Legendary Gear with Purple Bonus Stats: Legendary gear with purple bonus stats can be the most valuable possessions you have in MapleStory 2. To prevent these items from accidently getting destroyed, we will be adding an additional notification pop-up to confirm your action for the following cases:
Changing bonus stats
Selling to NPC
Dismantling
Throwing away or destroying
Using as material for unlocking sockets
Available Quest Window Improvement: The Available Quest window you get when clicking "!" above your portrait will display additional details, such as quest types (including Epic or Event) and quest levels.
We believe these changes by themselves are likely less controversial than other topics, and if you have any additional tweaks or suggestions for other quality of life improvements, please don't be afraid to share your feedback in the above discussion threads!
For those who are waiting for an update from our previous blog, we are actively discussing our next steps with all the feedback we've gathered so far. We'll share more details as soon as possible, potentially by next week!
Thank you for listening, and thank you for being part of Project New Leaf!

With the recent release of the Pet Skin Crafting Scroll on Jan. 31, 2019, numerous players have reported that a pet's attack speed can change after equipping the Pet Skin Badge.
After careful review of this issue, we found that the animations of the pet can potentially impact the speed in which a pet attacks. Unfortunately, this isn't something that can easily be fixed, as standardizing the animations of all pets could create other side effects.
As a result, we will be updating the item descriptions of both the Pet Skin Crafting Scrolls and the Pet Skin Badge to properly reflect that the pet skin's animations could impact the pet's attack speed. Additionally, we will be offering refunds in Blue Merets for those who submitted a ticket through our Customer Support and have purchased the Pet Skin Crafting Scroll between Jan. 31, 2019 and when we update the item description (which we expect to deploy on Feb. 28, 2019).
We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
Welcome to Project New Leaf! Project New Leaf is our initiative to make MapleStory 2 a better game by addressing your concerns and feedback.
With our Project New Leaf site, we will be sharing in-game changes that we’d like to propose based on your comments, and will provide the earliest timeline we expect to implement such changes. Once this happens, we will set phases to go through each of the topics in order and take in additional feedback from players like you. Generally, each proposal will go through the following phases:
Present achievable, in-game changes through a proposal blog based on initial player feedback
Begin working on the changes while simultaneously gathering additional feedback through the links provided in each blog post
Make any necessary changes to the initial proposal and share the updates through the blog
Roll out the live update in-game including any new changes
Close the topic once relevant changes have been made to the game
In most cases, we expect it will take about a week for us to report back the finalized details based on any additional feedback we receive from you after posting the initial proposal blogs. Please know that this timeline could differ depending on the topics under review. To help expedite this, we would like to ask that any feedback you provide through links on a proposal blog be limited just to the topic(s) being discussed within that specific blog.
We absolutely do want to hear your voice on all topics, because this project is all about listening carefully and making the changes players want! It’s true that not everything can happen at once, given the limitations of managing a live game. It’s also true that not every request can be granted, because we have values for MapleStory 2 that we truly believe in. However, this doesn’t mean we aren’t aware of other issues, and we do actively discuss if there’s anything we can still change to make the overall gameplay experience better for you. At the end of the day, your satisfaction playing MapleStory 2 is the utmost goal for us to achieve.
To that end, we are opening our first Project New Leaf thread that will function as a location where you can bring in your suggestions on the topic(s) of your choice. This space will serve as a catch-all for us so that important key topics you have will not be missed and will be discussed in future iterations throughout Project New Leaf.
Thank you for being patient with us. We’re excited about this opportunity to work with you to come up with the best direction for the game. Let’s change MapleStory 2 together!

- What -
Fixing an issue where transitional animations, animations that appear between two actions, do not display.
This change was not intended, and is having a notable affect on game balance. The full length of the animation is considered when balancing classes, and being able to shift between actions and attacks too quickly benefits some classes far more than others.
Fixing an issue where players who purchased the MapleStory 2 - Starter Pack DLC on Steam did not receive their items.
We will also be distributing the items to players who purchased the DLC while this issue was active.
February is nearly here, and we're giving you a headstart in the shortest month with an update to fix bugs, make improvements and add in a pair of new features to make customizing your MapleStory 2 experience even better!
New Feature: Pet Skin Crafting Scroll
Pets are a core part of MapleStory 2, and leveling up a cuddly combat companion into a powerhouse can boost your abilities in combat. But what do you do if your best brawling buddy isn't the adorable ally you love most? You can now get Pet Skin Crafting Scrolls from the Style Coin Shop to create your own Pet Skins!
Combat and non-combat pets can have a custom skin made from their look. This holographic skin can be equipped like any other Badge, and will change the appearance of any combat or non-combat pet you have summoned.
Pet Skin Crafting Scroll Details
Pet Skin Crafting Scrolls can be purchased from Meret Market for 650 Merets or from the Misc section of the Style Coin Shop for 7 Style Coins
Don't worry, no pets are harmed in the making of these skins! The original pet will remain in your inventory, unaffected by the process
Pet Skins cannot be sold or traded, but can be transferred to other characters on the same account via the in-game bank
New Feature: House Blueprints
Making a house can be a difficult prospect to tackle, involving placement of a great many blocks and coming up with a layout for the entire site. House Blueprints are a shortcut that allow expert homebuilders to give those newer to the housing system something to work with, and make a few Merets along the way!
Enterprising designers can enter the Blueprint Designer, where they will be able to design a house in the same manner as the normal design tool, placing currently available blocks into the new house. When you're happy with the design, you can spend 200 Merets to turn your design into a Blueprint, which can be sold to other players through the Design Shop!
House Blueprints Details
You can preview Blueprints in the Design Shop by clicking on the "Enter Model Home" button, to get a good look at the full layout
Some decorations cannot be placed in Blueprints, including:
UGC Decorations created by other players
Interior Portals
Trigger Editors
Event Decorations
Trophy Decorations
Assistants
Cooking, Alchemy and Jewelry Station Assistants
Mannequins
Loudspeakers
If a Blueprint uses blocks that must be purchased with Merets, you will be prompted to purchase those blocks when you use the Blueprint
The blue "Calculate Estimate" button in the Design Shop will let you know how much those unpurchased blocks will cost
Blueprints can be used an unlimited number of times
Hard Dungeon Delight Event: Get double drops in Hard Adventure Dungeons until March 28th! This event will start when weekly reset happens on February 1st UTC 00:00.
Ming Ming’s Shop Event: Earn Lucky Pig Coins from other events and trade them into Ming Ming’s shop for a wide selection of items, including special event-only mounts and outfits!

Lucky Piggies Event: Free the piggies and let them fly to celebrate the new year, and get Lucky Pig Coins as a bonus!
