Wrath of Infernog
Infernog, the great immortal monarch, has awoken and has his eyes set on demolishing the fledgling Maple Alliance. This ancient foe cannot be defeated through conventional means, but the brilliant minds on the Sky Fortress have come up with an audacious plan: Send out a band of brave heroes to hold Infernog at bay while the Sky Fortress' main gun charges up to destroy Infernog, or at least blast it into orbit!



The brand-new Wrath of Infernog Chaos Raid requires a 9,000 Gear Score and the Trusted reputation with the Maple Alliance to enter. Band together with your most talented allies to take on the brand new Chaos Raid, Wrath of Infernog!

Fortress Rumbles
It's time for a good-natured rumble! Each of the groups in the Maple Alliance has their own specialities, but to defeat the forces of darkness Maple World's hereos will need to train together, learn together and keep sharp together!



Fortress Rumbles are a set of high-level solo challenges, where you'll be facing a set of fights that will test your ability to battle and win without any allies backing you up. Each Rumble requires you to reach the Trusted reputation with that Rumble's faction, and will net you fragments to help you gear up with Extreme, Rage or Panic Legendary gear!



Narin's Combat Simulator Details
  • Train against one of the Green Hood's captured monsters, as the Alliance's brilliant minds analyze your technique!
  • Must be Trusted by Green Hood, be at least Lv. 50 and have at least 4,500 Gear Score to enter

Pluto's Legendary Accessories


Legendary gear is key to growing more and more powerful in MapleStory 2, and the next step-up is coming with Pluto's Set of Legendary Accessories! When you complete the new Wrath of Infernog Chaos Raid, you'll earn Pluto's Accessory Random Box Fragments, which can be combined into a Pluto's Accessory Random Box that contains a random Pluto's Accessory.



Equipping both the Belt and Cape will boost your Base Defense and Total Damage, while equipping all three pieces of jewelry (Ring, Earrings and Pendant) will increase your Base Accuracy and Evasion, bonuses that will help you in your quest to reach S+ Rank against Infernog!

Housing UI Improvement


The Housing system in MapleStory 2 has led to some amazing creations, and we're making some improvements to the user interface to make crafting your dream home even smoother, as well as giving you two additional layout save slots!

Special Skybound Events!


Get in the new year spirit with a special Seek-and-Find event with unique prizes and a deceptively simple challenge: All you've got to do is find another player that matches the Event Guide Ruby's description. Get it right and find enough people to earn a collection of useful items, a unique title and a special Buddy Emote!

Patch Notes

General Changes
  • Epic Quests have been added to continue the story from Phase 1 of the Skybound Expansion.
  • By reaching Trusted with the Sky Fortress factions, you will be able to challenge the factions in a set of Fortress Rumble solo dungeons
    • You can obtain the new “Fortress Rumble Master” trophy by defeating all five Fortress Rumbles with a score of Rank S+
    • Trophy rewards the “Fortress Rumble Master” title.
  • Players Trusted by the Maple Alliance can also complete the new “Wrath of Infernog” Hard Chaos Raid to get Legendary Accessories.
  • Toad’s Toolkits will continue to drop until January 31st to help you get your enchantments up to snuff! Please remember to use Toad’s Toolkits by January 31st
Sky Fortress
  • New Epic Quests are available once you complete the “A Dark Alliance” Quest.
  • Highest level potions and tonic rewards are rewarded like the original Sky Fortress Epic Quests.
  • “Battle for the Skies” quest: Once you accept the “Battle for the Skies” Epic Quest, you will be able to challenge Infernog alone in solo-version of Wrath of Infernog Dungeon
Wrath of Infernog
  • “Wrath of Infernog” is a Hard Chaos Raid where you can obtain Legendary Accessories.
  • Players will need to reach “Trusted by Maple Alliance” (Rank 2) reputation to enter this Chaos Raid.
Housing UI Revamp
  • Guest View Changes
    • Text buttons are now icons.
  • My House View Changes
    • Text buttons are now icons.
    • Top menu now hosts Free Camera/Screenshot functions.
  • Edit Greeting and Name Home functions are now part of “Home Details” menu, accessible by clicking on the Gear icon in the House info window
  • Furnishing Budget menu is now hidden by default
    • Only appears when permission is granted to players.
Dungeon Convenience Feature

  • "Favorites" category has been added to the Dungeon Directory as one of the categories.
  • You can click “☆“ on top right side of the Dungeon name in Dungeon Directory to register or remove a Dungeon from your “Favorites” Dungeon list.
  • If you have any dungeon in your “Favorites”, Dungeon Directory will always display “Favorites”
  • Dungeon category first.
    • If no dungeons are selected as “Favorites”: The “Recommended Dungeons” category is automatically displayed like before.
  • Favorites is saved and managed per character by default, but if dungeons with rewards that are counted by account are added to or removed from Favorites, it will be reflected in the Favorites of other characters within the account.

  • Seek-and-Find Event: Hunt down other players that match specific traits and get unique items, including a brand new Buddy Emote!

  • Fixed issue with the voiceover volumes for the Soul Binder
  • Removed the unintended attributes that were appearing on the “Defender of the Alliance” insignia
  • The “Rewards” calendar for login events will no longer appear in the center of your screen after any map changes or end of cutscenes.
  • Kay’s Event Wheel will be restored in Queenstown.
  • The Soul Binder skill tree will now correctly show the skill flow between Raging Tempest and Energy Surge.  
  • Fixed a typo in the description for the Soul Binder skill, Static Flash.
  • Characters that consumed the Lv. 50 Level-up Potion will now have the appropriate Trophies and Dyes unlocked.
  • Glamour Anvil's description has been updated to clearly describe what item type remain will remain unchanged if the Glamour Anvil is used.
  • Updated the text to clarify that only visible items displayed in your Character window will be available to be dyed in the Dye Shop.  This means that if you are viewing the Outfit tab, it will only show items from the Outfit tab that can be dyed.
  • The Shopping Cart icon will no longer move when mousing over the Shop button when accessing the Sky Fortress Faction Vendors.
  • Killing Vulcantop now gives credit towards the “Fast and Furious” trophy.
  • The in-game browser for the “News” displayed on the left hand side of the screen will no longer become unresponsive when opening an external link.
  • For Schatten’s daily quest for “[Daily] Recon: The Resistance”, it will now correctly inform you to the right location (from Boulderwhite Mountains to Taliskar).
  • Rook Agents from the Sky Fortress quests will no longer appear in low level maps.
  • The item, Lingering Ghost, will now correctly state the correct duration when using the item (from 15 secs to 5 secs).
  • When attempting to select the type of Gem Dust from Gem Dust Chest and trying to open the Armor Selection Boxes at the same time will no longer cause your Armor Selection Boxes to disappear.
  • Quantities are now shown in the dismantle window for Exquisite Headgear/Gloves/Shoes.
Known Issues
  • Armor and Weapon pieces can show different character names listed under “Bound to [Player Name]” if it was equipped to the Gear Mannequins and removed with a different character.  
  • The World Map incorrectly shows Soul Dimension and Dimensional Barrier as connected maps for Ellinia
  • Killing the Giant Turtle boss in Beachway 111 does not give credit towards the Turtle Power trophy
  • Players with previously obtained Ad Balloons are unable to use them if there are 15+ characters in the title
  • Holding an interactable object while Narubashan Unleash skill is active causes the object to disappear
  • The quest "Securing the Lava Crest" has overlapping voice overs
  • Soul Binder's armor pieces (from the Shadow Gear Shop) are missing multiple basic attributes

Legendary Accessories


Legendary gear is key to growing more and more powerful in MapleStory 2, and the next step-up is coming with Pluto's Set of Legendary Accessories! When you complete the new Wrath of Infernog Chaos Raid, you'll earn Pluto's Accessory Random Box Fragments which can be combined into a Pluto's Accessory Random Box that contains a random Pluto's Accessory.



Equipping both the Belt and Cape will boost your Base Defense and Total Damage, while equipping all three pieces of jewelry (Ring, Earrings and Pendant) will increase your Base Accuracy and Evasion, bonuses that will help you in your quest to reach S+ Rank against Infernog!

Housing UI Improvement


The Housing system in MapleStory 2 has led to some amazing creations, and we're making some improvements to the user interface to make crafting your dream home even smoother, as well as giving you two additional layout save slots!

Special Skybound Events!


We've also got a new set of events for Phase 2 of the Skybound Expansion! Defeat Infernog to earn coins that you can use for special Sky Fortress cosmetics and decorations, join a special Hide and Seek event that will send you all across Maple World looking for certain types of people and complete Daily Quests to earn Lucky Pouches filled with goodies that unlock a special ground mount and headband!

Dear Maplers,

I’d like to relay some humble gratitude from our team to all of you. The holidays are right around the corner and it’s been an awesome journey this year for all of us. We have you to thank for it!

Holiday Bonus Giveaway
We hope you are enjoying the gift package we sent! As we reviewed the feedback from the community, we have seen that some players misunderstood what items were part of the package. It was one box that included everything mentioned underneath. Because it was a mega-sized bundle, I tried to describe it better by sectioning off what type of items were included to make it easier to parse but it seems like that added to your confusion. We will be more careful with this for any gifts in the future.

Ongoing Plans
I’d like to make it clear that the 2018 Thank-you Package isn’t intended to be part of the improvements we are planning for the game. Our main focus is still on addressing the random aspects of progression combined with the content cap by ensuring that players are always making progress when they invest time into the game over the course of the 2019 updates. As it currently stands:
  • Our team is actively in discussions with the MapleStory 2 studio and we are thoroughly reviewing all the suggestions, as well as their potential side effects.
  • More importantly, we are reviewing MapleStory 2 as a whole to make sure there’s no unturned stones we may miss if we move hastily.
  • We will be sharing more details when key changes begin to get locked down, starting in January.
  • We see that our experiment with giving Toad’s Toolkit from Hard Adventure Dungeons have been effective in aiding you. In our original plan, this was going to be a month long event but we will be extending this experiment to the end of January (Jan. 31, 2019). Please note that currently all Toad’s Toolkits are set to expire at that time as well, so don’t forget to use them before then.

Bot Investigation
This has been a popular discussion point among Maplers in the community since Official Launch, and we've mentioned in previous blogs how many bots have been banned, but we have never really discussed in detail exactly how we do this. Unfortunately, we never will. We can't disclose specific details about the methods we utilize as meso farmers can potentially use this information to their benefit and directly combat our tactics.

Keep in mind that we generally look into a lot of different aspects of the game to battle botters, including but not limited to:
  • Player reports
  • Behavioral pattern analysis
  • Log analysis
  • Market Trade Behavior
  • Chat analysis
  • GM patrolling
  • Engineers churning out new tools and patterns for improved detection
  • A dedicated team making sure no false bans occurs
For example, we just rolled out a new detection system that multiple teams have been working on that alone has successfully blocked over 9,000 meso farmer accounts in just one day. While new methods, rules and systems to combat meso farmers are created daily, we aren't rushing to push these additions live either. We focus a lot of our time on manually reviewing individual cases to ensure that each of our new rules, patterns, and systems don't cause any false bans.

There are popular suggestions from the community that we are very much aware of, such as CAPTCHA systems for regular gameplay or dungeons. Keep in mind we do weigh these suggestions based on how effective they could possibly be and how reasonable it is to actually implement such ideas. Some ideas may seem great on paper, but when it comes down to the actual design and implementation of these ideas, it's not necessarily a walk in the park. Don't let this discourage you as we're always open to suggestions, so please keep them coming!

Finally, we've been monitoring trading logs since Official Launch and while we've taken some actions to obvious meso farmer accounts, we will be ramping up to perform more bans based on suspicious trading starting in January. This does mean we are taking increased action against RMT meso buyers, so we sincerely ask that you do not buy mesos from illegal meso selling websites.

Do the right thing. Don't make Joddy cry!

Other things
  • An improved housing UI and more UGC Weapon Templates will be coming in the January update, as mentioned in a previous blog.
  • In the January update, we are also going to add one more quality of life improvement feature called the “Favorite Dungeon” system. This system will allow you to create your own list of dungeons to be displayed when you open the Challenge Map instead of “Recommended Dungeons”.
  • We just confirmed that the female hairstyle for the Soul Binder is going to be added into the game in January as well!

Server and Channel Adjustment
In order to prepare for a smooth Official Launch in October, we prepared a multitude of servers to accommodate up to 130,000 concurrent players we anticipated would want to try out MapleStory 2. Now that the initial wave of new players has subsided and the population of Maplers has stabilized, we will be removing excess servers during tomorrow's maintenance, allowing our service to handle 75,000 players at once. As a part of this change, the number of channels will be reduced to the following:
  • Both NA East and NA West will have 28 channels each (down from 60)
  • Europe will have 18 channels (down from 30)
  • South America will have 10 channels (down from 20)
  • Oceania will remain the same with 10 channels

Dear Maplers,

This week’s blog will be a bit different from the previous ones. We would like to take time to discuss our journey to launch, the Skybound Expansion and share our plans for moving forward.

Both the development studio and MapleStory 2 team at Nexon have worked non-stop for the last year to launch and update the game. Starting at the end of last year, we discussed all the changes we hoped to make for the global version to cater to our community, and made countless changes, including the following:
  • Enchantment system change
    • Removal of weapons breaking if they fail to enchant
    • The inclusion of fail stack when players fail to enchant
  • Dungeon reward structure change
  • Removal of Lumistones
  • Removal of outfits with stats
  • Removal of purchase options relating to gear progression
  • Improvements in the weekly cap system
  • Addition of Normal Mode Chaos Raids
  • Improved Sky Fortress reward structure
  • Addition of Exploration Goals and World Quests
  • Change in reward rates and Style Coin price reduction for the Style Crate
  • More UGC weapon templates based on community feedback
  • Double drop weeks for the dungeons to support the community to progress faster
  • Toad Toolkit experiment to smooth out gear progression
  • Changes to combat meso sellers, including some system requirement changes and over 100 rules to block and ban them
  • And many more...
This journey has been very exciting, but when we look back, we see that we’ve learned a few things about what we could have done better, or wish we had done differently. We have been spending a lot of time discussing how we should move forward based on what we have learned, and I would like to discuss our high-level direction going forward.

Key Learnings
When we were making the above changes to create a better MapleStory 2 for the global audience, there were a few areas we felt could do better. As we have discussed, we are always reviewing feedback and constructive discussions that players share with us. We want to tell you that we recognize that there is feedback around the random aspect of progression combined with the content cap, and we have an opportunity here to improve the game.

We are not guaranteeing any action at this time, meaning this blog is not meant to say we are removing random aspect or removing the content cap. However we want to share with everyone that we understand this feedback, and we are discussing different ideas to ensure players are always making progress when they invest time into the game.

Another thing we have learned is that we must be more thorough. Speed is very important, and during the first two months the team here was focused on making changes with a fast turnaround. But some of the solutions were not permanent fixes, and were closer to a Band-Aid solution, and sometimes these temporary fixes had unexpected side effects. Thus, going forward our philosophy will be to take more time to thoroughly review our options and come up with better solutions.

Plans for 2019
We believe it’s important and necessary to adjust existing game systems as we add more content. We have a massive update plan in the works, but we are also checking to see where we can make adjustments to content already in the game. We want to focus on key improvements that provide a better you with a better experience.  

To summarize our plan for 2019:
  • Content we have prepared for our early January update will be released as scheduled. Look out for more information on this during the first week of January.
  • We will be discussing key improvement ideas starting in January. A few ideas are getting locked in now, but they require more review to ensure the changes will be effective.
  • While we are working on the changes, we will also be running events to help players make faster progress with the current systems and structures.
  • We are going to have our next expansion next summer, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be making smaller updates before then. We will continue to add content and make improvements to MapleStory 2 throughout the year.
You will get more detailed information before we make any final decisions and move forward with changes. Please, stay tuned in 2019 for more!

For December
Since it is too early to discuss content which is still being worked on, we are going to run two events starting next week after maintenance. These events are to show our appreciation towards players, and to help players progress faster to, and beyond, Normal Chaos Raids.

Accessory Fusion Cost Discount (Next Week’s Maintenance - December 31st)
We will also be having an event discounting the Fragment Fusion costs for Accessories! During this time, the price of Accessory Fusions will be reduced by 50% for Exceptional and Epic Accessories. For example:  Absolute Earrings Fragment Fusion Cost will go from 500,000 mesos to 250,000 mesos.

Other Things
  • An improvement to the housing UI is coming in January to make decorating and improving your house much smoother.
  • More UGC weapon templates will be coming in January as well.
  • We are working on more thorough plans to take action towards in-game scamming, boosting services and RMT issues.
