ATOM RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game - AtomTeam
Greetings, friends!

It’s finally time to share some more news about the development of ATOM RPG: Trudograd. This time, we will have two distinct topics: skill tree and weapon mods.

Skill tree

Ever since the release of our first game, we listened to your advice on the ways ATOM RPG’s Skill Tree could grow into something bigger and better. This is the result of all that feedback, plus many improvements of our own.

Unlike our previous skill tree, this one is segmented into categories, and has much more skills for every type of play. You won’t have to pick something you don’t want, just to get to something you do want to learn, anymore. At least, that’s what we’re going for.

Icons, names, and even skill balancing are still works in progress, but the concept itself is final.

The skill point system has also changed. Before, each new skill was 1 point more expensive than the previous, and this was critiqued by you a lot. Now all skills are distributed amongst four price tiers. All starting skills have the price of 1 point, and the most powerful ones - 4.

Weapon mods

The need for a weapons mod system was seen by us even at the time ATOM RPG first came out, but introducing it back then would’ve required too much time and resources. Now, in Trudograd, we are finally able to do it!

Every single piece of weaponry in Trudograd has some modification slots, which can be filled with all manner of mods. This will help you create weapons, fit for your playstyles and character roles.

However, all good things come at a price. In ATOM RPG: Trudograd, weapon modifications will have pros as well as cons, like higher skill reqs.

Currently, the weapon mod system’s visuals and some stats are a work in progress, but we basically figured out the base balancing mechanics already.

We thank you for the time spent reading this dev update, and we would like to use this opportunity to remind you: stay safe, stay healthy, do all that is recommended to avoid and combat the COVID-19 infection.

We promise more dev updates soon!

Oh, and as always, let there be ATOM!

Hey, guys!

Today, we're releasing version 1.112. We are doing this because we moved our game to the brand new, improved Unity version 2019.2 which fixes a lot of problems some of you may have experienced in the past, and furthers our game's optimization.

However, since it's a very large file, we understand that those of you that do not have optimization issues and glitches described in the changelog, may not want to download it. For you, we have created a new Steam branch 1_11 which will allow you to skip this version and continue playing 1.111.

Here is the changelog:
  • Transferred the game to Unity 2019.2;
  • Fixed impassable tiles in Krasnoznamenny Centre;
  • Fixed incorrect AP and Ammo information;
  • Fixed Dzhulbars barking glitch;
  • Fixed the Ghillie suit and protective suit exploit which granted an extra turn;
  • Those who saved at the New Year location will now appear in the Mountain Pass of Woes;
  • Fixed several graphical bugs.

For Mac OS users:
Unfortunately, Unity updated the requirement for their minimal version of Mac OS for 2019.2. Now it's macOS 10.12+. We ask you to update the system or move to the branch 1_11.

Hello, friends!

It’s time to do good on our New Year’s promise and share some more news about ATOM RPG: Trudograd.

We’ll start with information on new developments in the field of exoskeleton research! We perfected our walking tank visually, and made it capable of attacking enemies in melee combat! Here’s how it looks at the moment:

WIP

However the combat system improvements do not end with the exoskeleton. We also made a special skill that will allow you to attack your enemies with the buttstock of your weapon, along with new weapon mods that will be discussed in a later post.

WIP

Since we have updated many combat-related stuff in the game, we decided to change the look of the inventory as well. Here’s how it will look during your travels in Trudograd. Something akin to this style was suggested by some of our players. We hope you like it!

WIP

Now we’d like to show you the changes we made to in-game menus such as the minimap, stats or skill tree. Here’s our new menu system!

WIP

This new menu system is highly optimized for comfort and style. We really hope you will enjoy it!

Last but not least - some in-game art. Here’s a loading screen we particularly enjoy.

Work on Trudograd is constant. Next time we will share some new location screenshots and news about weapons and combat in general, as well as many other new stuff.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd will be released for closed testing on February 29th.

Thank you for reading and we really hope that you liked what we shared. See you next time! And let there be ATOM!

Hello, friends!

Soon, this year will end. And what a great year it was! We spent it together, perfecting ATOM through your suggestions and observations. The game became larger, much more polished and user friendly. It’s all thanks to you.

We want to close this wonderful year just like we spent it. That means posting another pack of bugfixes (see changelog below) and a little something for those of you who liked our previous in-game events. This time it’s a winter-themed one, where you will set out into the inhospitable Mountain Pass of Woes to eradicate a tribe of malformed, mutated snowmen for a chance to get new items including two fun little weapons and some hats.

As always, if in-game events aren’t your thing and you want to keep your game well away from such light-hearted additions, you can simply turn off the festive content with a single mouse click in the menu as shown below.

Thank you for a year of helpful feedback. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Let all of your wishes come true! As for us, we have only one wish: Let there be ATOM!

Changelog for version 1.11:
  • Controller controls improved and associated controller bugs fixed;
  • Changed bridge behavior in the Mountain Pass of Woes;
  • Dunya’s quest bug fixed;
  • Error in Dan’s dialogue fixed;
  • Companions no longer equip whole stacks of items;
  • Caravan rescue signal quest fixed;
  • Getting stuck in Peregon doors fixed;
  • Fixed a rare issue where Katya and Kovalev dialogue didn’t happen;
  • Érror with Drunken Lair inhabitants attacking Player if Factory gang was killed off by him;

Hello, friends!

Today, we would like to share with you the version 1.1096 patch and some news about the Atom RPG translation project.

Ever since our game hit Steam, many players asked us to translate it into their native languages. However, due to the sheer amount of text in the game and therefore exorbitant translator fees, this endeavor was never possible for our small team.

But then, some of our players, who specialized in certain languages contacted us and offered their help, and asked us only for what our team could provide.

Here’s the status of their works:

Chinese translation by the amazing "游侠LMAO汉化组" is fully complete.

Three translations are 30% to 50% complete: Polish, made with the help of Ganchuk and a translator that doesn’t have a Steam thread. French, made by the team that can be found here: LINK. German, made by the team which can be found here: LINK.

Three more translations were recently started: Turkish by (Engin, Anıl Kalkan, Raynor), Italian by
Dark Legend and Japanese by JS.

We are very thankful to you all!

It is important to note, that since none of us speaks any of the aforementioned languages, we really cannot tell the translation quality. We also do not know the release dates for upcoming translations. These are fan-driven projects, and the teams work in their spare time. However, judging by our interactions with our various translation teams, they are goal-set, hard working folks, and we’re almost sure they’ll do great. We never hoped for such an amazing amount of help from our players.

Now, the changelog for the patch:

  • Item duplication bug fixed;
  • Overload bug fixed;
  • Spelling errors found by players fixed;
  • Misc. item description typos fixed;
  • Minor overworld map animation issues fixed;
  • Very rare sound freezing on global map bug fixed;
  • Fixed a very rare crash in Peregon.

Thank you for sticking with us and let there be ATOM!

Hello, friends!

Today, we wish to share with you the work we’ve done on Atom RPG’s standalone addon Trudograd so far.

An uncommon point of view for our game, but it demonstrates the new abilities of our engine well.

Here is some concept art for the game. We rely on it when creating new locations.

As you know, we love to create small details that increase the atmosphere of the game. Therefore, the visuals are very important to us.

Trudograd is a large and rich city. Well, at least some people living in it are rich. These folks have custom made homes on the roofs of the overcrowded flat blocks.

We’ll end with something very special. With something you asked us to make for a very long time. Trudograd will feature a powerful exoskeleton armor suit.

Note: the design as well as the visual looks of the suit might change. WIP.

Work on the standalone addon continues as we speak.

Thank you for checking out our progress. And let there be ATOM!

Good mourning, friends…
The time has come for yet another patch to be uploaded. And with it - a small surprise, to commemorate this year’s All Hallow’s Eve. From October 28th, ‘till November 1st, you will have a chance to encounter enemies with unique pumpkin helmets, or battle endless waves of bloodthirsty mutant freaks that crave for your succulent flesh in another encounter we developed (only for level 10 of higher characters).
While we really hope that you’ll enjoy this spooktacular festive addition, we also get how weird Halloween themed events look in a game about former USSR, where no such holiday ever existed. If this content ruins your immersion, you can turn it off in the main menu.

Also, we added an option that makes informational pop-ups appear above the character’s head. It is off by default, but you can turn it on in the options menu.

Fangs for sticking with us, and let there be BLOOD!... I mean ATOM!
Stay spooky!

The horrifying changelog of doom and devilry:
  • Fixed a ghastly bug which allowed characters to phase through trucks and carts;
  • Dzhulbars got an armor fix to stand a better chance against blood-starved beasts;
  • Wind now moves grass and other plants bug-free and with deadly precision;
  • Artemyev’s dialogue fixed;
  • Skill points can now be added en masse by holding the left mouse button on “+” on the character screen;
  • The Woodpecker’s quest ending fixed;
  • Lesser bugs obliterated;
  • Newly discovered typos and translation errors snuffed out;

ATOM RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game - AtomTeam

Hello, friends!

It is time to publish yet another large patch for the game. This time around we fixed all of the new bugs the community found, as well as optimized the soundscape, left handed person accessibility, and controller support for the game.

Also, we added the new camera mode to the game, that puts the view into isometric projection. This mode is a new feature we are developing for the Trudograd standalone expansion, but we just couldn’t stop ourselves from adding it into the original game as well, both for testing purposes and because we think you just might like it. The mode can be toggled from the menu.

Speaking of Trudograd, the development is going swimmingly. The standalone expansion now features 20+ characters, with unique portraits and dialogues, 10+ quests, a new mob enemy, and a few new mechanics. You can follow our work at our social media accounts if you want:
