We have just patched the pre-order beta for Vermintide 2 with some fixes, tweaks and a couple of new additions, including the prologue!

Note, all players who log in after this patch will be faced with the prologue by default.

Known Issues
  • Custom Keybinds can halt the tutorial/prologue (reset these by deleting “save_data.sav” in ‘C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2’)
Now on to the notes! The changes for the latest patch are as follows:
  • ADDED: 'Warcamp' mission
  • ADDED: 'Prologue' mission
  • Fix for flamethowers always using full charge for fire time
  • Fix for some cases of being invincible due to health mismatch between host and client
  • Fixed controller cursor positioning error
  • Fixed crash caused when a player jumps off a cliff in the inn while the local player is exiting the game
  • Fixed curse resistance property not working as intended
  • Fixed 'protection vs' properties having the wrong values
  • Fixed Troll health sync crash
  • Fixed various crashes
  • Further horde music fixes
  • Huntsman active ability raw damage multiplier set to 1.5 for the duration of the ability (instead of 5)
  • Increased the chances of getting weapon and jewellery parts from salvaging items
  • Reduced Cooldown Reduction property range from 5-20% to 5-10%
  • Sienna now takes less damage from venting (more in line with her health pool)

We have made various further adjustments to Recruit difficulty in order to be more forgiving to players new to the game.

Balance
  • Increased the height before a player takes fall damage from 5 - 7
  • Horde timings: start hordes earlier, longer between hordes.
  • Increase sniper range dropoff
  • Minor Lifeleech attack distance tweaks
  • Nerfed grenades against bosses
  • Troll health regen lowered for recruit by 20% (Recruit only)
  • Truflight: should keep target while aiming away from painted target and fire faster.
  • Vomit-in-face debuff duration down from 7 to 5 seconds
  • 'Recruit' involves less elites in general and more restrictive AI director checks to avoid insane difficulty spikes.
  • Vomit/Vortex slowdown nerfed (set to 0.75 speed multiplier)
Stability
  • Fix for UI fatigue crash
  • Fixed a client crash for Zealot caused by invulnerability
  • Fixed various other crashes
Fixes
  • Clients should now properly display Zealot Invulnerability
  • Fixed flamethrowers stuttering after finished charged shot
  • Fixed a bug where players were considered inside an end zone forever if they were standing in it when it got deactivated.
  • Fixed the timing and position of the charged fireball
  • Fixed trait related crash when removing overheat on crit
  • Made sure we discard lobbies that are playing levels the player have not unlocked
  • Reduced the max amount of stamina awarded from properties from 2-4 to 1-2 to prevent crashes
  • Removed camera movement on certain weapon aiming animation
UI/UX
  • added an option to allow occupied hero lobbies

As a note, we have made the Recruit difficulty a little more suitable to new Recruits, so players who experienced a brutal introduction to the franchise in the closed beta - we heard your feedback.

Now on to the patch notes and the latest changes for this beta.

Known Issues
  • INVALID DEPOT CONFIGURATION during download/installation - Restart Steam, this should solve it.
  • Trouble launching the game/launcher? Please reinstall the installers found in the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist
  • You have played for a while but crashed, now the game but now get stuck in a crash loop? Please delete the following folder (your settings will be lost):
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2
FEATURE
  • Added new intro movie!
BALANCE
  • Axes should now feel 'wider' and as such feel more effective
  • Dots now require damage to apply
  • Lessened the amount of shield vermin in patrols on recruit
  • Reduced the effectiveness of damage boost potion
  • Reduced the range of berzerker/raider attacks
  • Reduced the range of Knight Kruber's charge
  • Sienna's mace now reaches further
  • Small staggers should not make downed Chaos Warriors stand back up
  • special spawning, patrols and horde timing tweaks
  • Switch beam staff left/right
  • Tweaked crossbow spread speed up
  • Various other balance changes (just try things out, we made a lot of adjustments!)
BOTS
  • Bots can now use talents, huzzah!
  • Bots should no longer freak out in shallow water
  • Fixed a case where bots would stop reviving a player whenever a ranged attacker performed an attack (regardless of the distance between them)
STABILITY
  • Fix crash caused by Chaos Spawn chew attack
  • Fix rare crash that could happen after a chaos warrior launch attack
  • Fixed a crash caused when hitting a ragdolled enemy
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if you got disconnected from the game just as the win/lose screen was finished
  • Fixed crash caused by paintings
  • Fixed crash issue when joining game
  • Fixed crash when setting overcharge values on a weapon that was unequipped
  • Fixed issues with crashing when opening a loot chest or crafting when the host leaves the game
  • Fixed opening charm tab in inventory or clicking currently equipped charm occasionally leading to a crash
  • Fixed various other tougher to describe crashes
FIXES
  • Added camera animations to Sienna's flamethrower staff along with a new start animation for the charged attack
  • Added hero selection hotkey to keybindings menu
  • Against the Grain Fix for unlocalized objectives
  • Bounty Hunter talent "Extremely Impatient" should now properly reset cooldown of "Impatient" on melee kills
  • Changed Zealot passive damage increase calculation to allow high buff stack amounts even when grimoires are picked up
  • Fix wizards sword light chain and push
  • Fixed all kruber shoulders and thumb poses for the 2h hammer set
  • Fixed bug with loot chest reward backgrounds were drawn during opening presentation
  • Fixed certain activated abilities not being able to be used during a weapon action
  • Fixed Gutter Runner having issues while jumping on Bardin
  • Fixed Lifeleech perception, can no longer change target mid-attack

  • The amount of crafting materials you gained are now correctly shown after completing a Salvage
  • Unchained no longer vents overcharge by pushing enemies
  • Venting no longer triggers Gromril Armour cooldown
  • Waystalker: Added arrow in quiver
SOUND
  • Added missing sound triggers to heavy attacks with Sienna's mace
  • Fixed character foley and voice over not always loading correctly
  • Fixed charge sound on Flamestorm Staff
  • Fixed missing light attack sounds on Kerillian's Wardancer Blade
  • Horde music should no longer get stuck in a loop
UI/UX
  • Added enemy shield armor indicators
  • Added fade in delay for item compare tooltips

  • Added new shading environment for weapon presentation in chest opening screen
