Something quite different this time: Our friends over at Channel 3 Records will be making a vinyl containing 21 tracks from the Deep Rock Galactic Soundtrack.
Orders officially close November 1st, 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT. Final delivery is anticipated for early Q3, 2023.
The soundtrack was originally composed by Sophus Alf Agerbæk-Larsen, produced by Troels Jørgensen, with Mikkel Martin Petersen as Executive Producer. Mikkel has previously written a post on how the soundtrack came together.
Fun Fact: Sophus is Mikkel’s nephew. And no, he didn’t get to make the soundtrack because of his family ties, but rather in spite of it; Mikkel initially did not want to mix family and business, but Sophus proved he was the right person for the job (seriously, go read Mikkel’s writeup of the whole thing).
The record will contain 21 of the tracks from the full soundtrack, split over two vinyls.
There will be two versions of the vinyls, a classic black version and another with graphic patterns inspired by Fungus Bogs and Magma Core.
The LP also features a triple gatefold art piece made by Tim Murray. You may have seen some of his DRG fan art before.
And on top of that, each version comes with 4 silicone coasters of the beers from DRG.
This has been a bit of a special project for us. Making a record of the soundtrack was not something we had planned, but when Caleb and Travis from Channel 3 Records approached us with the idea it made a lot of sense to us. We know that a lot of you love the soundtrack and this would be a completely new way to enjoy it. Channel 3 Records also has a track record (no pun intended) of making visually stunning records for games. And after talking to them, it became clear that they were huge fans of the game and knew DRG in-depth. This has been a passion project both for Channel 3 Records and us, and we believe the end product shows it.
Time to fire up that jukebox, Miners! For this one time, Management approves of dancing.
More teasers have arrived! First, a short glimpse of something that will be quite necessary for whatever is about to happen once Season 03 arrives.
More details on exactly what purpose those two somethings serve in the coming weeks. However, we can give you a bit more details for the final grenade reveal: The Tactical Leadburster.
Again, we are stretching the definition of "grenade" here, but if something can deal damage like the Tactical Leadburster, then naming conventions take a backseat.
This little bundle of death fires off projectiles in a full 360-degree radius, providing anything not of dwarven toughness with a high dose of lead and some new ventilation holes to boot. Just throw it on the ground, stand back (stand waaay back), and admire the results.
Given this information, can you guess who the Tactical Leadburster is for?
The Gunner. It’s the gunner. It’s literally a throwable gun…
Stay tuned Miners, we have more exciting reveals next week. Until then, Rock and Stone!
More teasers are inbound. First, a quick look at what is coming to Hoxxes when Season 03 arrives. Last week you saw a brief glimpse of something previously not seen before in the caves. And this week, you get a closer (although briefer) look at this unknown entity.
Yup, that is definitely not robots.
But do you know what is? The Engineer’s new Grenade - the Shredder Swarm!
The Shredder Swarm Grenade spawns a swarm of reprogrammed Shredder Drones that will target any enemy in its vicinity. The Engineer has worked closely with R&D to ensure this miniature squadron of death does not target anything Dwarven. Management has complete faith in the reliability of this new addition to your arsenal, and can’t wait to see the improvements to productivity and overall deadlines brought forth by this flock of mechanical murderers.
We know you are excited for more, and we have more teasers coming soon. Stay tuned Miners!
OktoberFest can now also be enjoyed in German and other supported languages, and the performance point bar should now start correctly at the mission end screen.
With Love, The Ghost Ship Crew
— PATCH NOTES —
- Fixed a visual issue with the Best Wurst Beer Mug x2 Performance Point bonus - Tweaked the lights at the Abyss Bar, should now be brighter - Added missing translations for Oktober Event - Updated the Oktober Splash Screen, scouts face is no longer obscured by a logo
We have a few more things to tease for Season 03. First up, something new has appeared in the caves of Hoxxes. We don’t want to spoil too much, but you might be able to spot it in this short clip:
We will be talking more about…whatever it is…very soon.
For something more hands-on (pun intended), check out the Springloaded Ripper, the second in the lineup of new grenades for Season 03:
This throwable workplace hazard unleashes a set of springloaded sawblades that will shred most organic matter it encounters. Operate with care and deadly precision. Management considers this new tool a prime example of why beer is not allowed on missions.
That’s it for this round - stay tuned for more teasers and upcoming reveals, and do be sure to catch our dev streams every Thursday and Friday on Twitch (channel: ghostship_games).
Oktoberfest has officially started on the Space Rig. ‘Tis time for beer, new hats, and work-related fun - and Management has supplied all of the above. Here’s what you can expect for the next two and a half weeks, in a bit more detail:
A new assignment, the Oktoberfest Celebration assignment is now available to all eligible employees*. Complete it and receive a hefty reward, alongside the two new hats (see below)
Two new hats, awarded in the Oktoberfest Celebration assignment (see above). Whether you favor the Kegger or the Trachtenhut, any of these two fine additions to your wardrobe will let anyone know that you were there at the DRG Oktoberfest 2022!
The Best Wurst Beer, a seasonal, sausage-flavored brew for the event. We have heard it described as Oktoberfest in a mug…among other things.
Earn Double Season XP! While Management had no issue securing enough of this new beer for the event, a shipment of Best Wurst Beer mugs crashed on approach and the mugs are now scattered across Hoxxes! Locating one during a mission and bringing it back will double your Mission Performance Points for that mission.
Oktoberfest Decoration on the Space Rig - and there’s a lot of decorations this time around. For some reason, Oktoberfest really lit the creative spark in the Party Committee. Go see for yourself!
Enjoy Oktoberfest, Miners! Management is both excited to bring you this new event and slightly worried about what two and a half weeks of drinking and partying will do to overall productivity. Guess we’ll find out!
Rock and Stone!
With Love, The Ghost Ship Crew
----- *Completing the onboarding assignment “Conquer Hoxxes” makes you eligible for picking new assignments
You probably all saw our Dev Stream last week where we showed one of the upcoming grenades for Season 03. But just in case you were getting a refreshment from the bar and missed it, here it is again. Say hello to the Scout’s new grenade: The Voltaic Stun Sweeper!
While The Voltaic Stun Sweeper does stretch the definition of ‘Grenade’, we firmly believe you will get a lot of good use out of this shocking version of a Boomerang.
There will be more teasers, announcements, and reveals from now until Season 03 releases. So keep on the lookout for future posts, watch our Dev Streams every Thursday and Friday, and join the official DRG discord if you want to stay in the loop of all things Deep Rock and Season 03.
We told you last week, but here it is again: Oktoberfest has returned to Deep Rock Galactic, with new Cosmetics, a new Oktoberfest Beer, and a chance to earn double Seasonal Mission XP! The event is starting next week, September 15th (13.00 CEST), and will end on October 3rd (13.00 CEST). So dust off your lederhosen, and get ready for the workplace party of the year! Prost!
Assignment, new Hats, and Space Rig decoration
As you’ve come to expect from a DRG event, you will get access to a new, lucrative Assignment while Oktoberfest is running. Complete it and you will be rewarded with two new hats to commemorate the festivities, along with a most handsome compensation for your efforts.
Wearing either the traditional Trachtenhut or the Kegger is sure to get you and your colleagues in a festive mood. And if that doesn’t do it, Management has made sure the Space Rig is decorated to fit the beer-and-sausage theme of the season.
Usually, that would be it. But this time, management found some extra budget to allocate to this event. You’re in for a treat, miners!
Seasonal Oktoberfest Beer
During the event, you will have access to an entirely new brew never before seen on the Space Rig. Longbeard Brewery has made a beer to go along with the Oktoberfestivities:
The Best Wurst Beer is a tangy, sausage-flavored brew concocted especially for thirsty Oktoberfest-goers! Longbeard Brewery has ensured Management that it really is the best Wurst beer on the market, so it will without a doubt live up to its name. Management was also able to secure a hefty shipment of this new delicacy, so we should be all set in terms of supply until the event ends. You’d think it almost impossible to secure enough of this new brew to last us through Oktoberfest, but Management has come through - obviously!
Enjoy it, miners - you’ve earned it.
Earn Double Season XP
A Longbeard cargo freighter crashed on approach, scattering its cargo of specialty beer mugs across Hoxxes! The Oktoberfest celebration is in jeopardy, we can’t serve beer if we don’t have beer mugs! It’s a catastrophe!
Recovering a “Best Wurst Beer” mug during a mission will trigger a bonus, doubling your Mission Performance Points for that mission!
We ask all employees to drink responsibly during the mug shortage.
You will have to contain your yodeling for one more week until Oktoberfest starts. We trust the party as well as the new beer will both be experiences to remember! In the meantime, how about distracting yourself in the best way possible: Work! Morkite doesn’t mine itself, you know.
Summer is nearing its end, and we remain hard at work chugging away on Season 03. And we hear you, you want to know more about what the next season will bring. Not to worry, miners, it won’t be long until we start sharing more about what to expect - promise! For now, all we can tell you is that we are nicely on track for a Q4 release and that we are pretty sure you will like what we have in store for you.
And before anyone asks: No, it’s not more robots.
Season 03 aside, we have some more tasty morsels to talk about:
Oktoberfest 2022, coming to a Space Rig near you
Yes, Oktoberfest is returning to Deep Rock Galactic! And from September 15th you’ll be able to join the beer-filled celebration on the Space Rig. We’ve had a lot of fun putting this event together - we may even have gone a little bit overboard. You will have to judge that for yourselves.
You can of course expect the regular assignment, rewards, hats, and so forth that you’ve come to know from a Deep Rock event - but there will also be a few new surprises. More info as we get closer to the event. For now, dust off your Trachtenhut, and get ready to party!
The event will end on October 3rd, assuming we can all last 2 weeks of in-game drinking and partying…and sometime later in October, expect something much scarier as Management has been dropping hints about a Halloween party. Again, more info to come.
FSR 2.0 Support out now
Didn’t we just release support for FSR 1.0? Well, yes, and now there is a brand new version supported in the game. We heard good things from a lot of you who used FSR 1.0 and DLSS in DRG, so we are excited to see what this new version can do in terms of performance. Early testing shows promising results.
We are also leaving FSR 1.0 in, so you can select between the two versions if you should have any compatibility issues or your setup benefits from a specific version. We truly are spoiled for choice when it comes to upscaling technology.
Check here for compatible graphics cards and other general FSR 2.0 details
That’s it for now - so until next time: Rock and Stone! With Love, The Ghost Ship Crew
