Hello Miners!
We told you last week, but here it is again: Oktoberfest has returned to Deep Rock Galactic, with new Cosmetics, a new Oktoberfest Beer, and a chance to earn double Seasonal Mission XP! The event is starting next week, September 15th (13.00 CEST), and will end on October 3rd (13.00 CEST). So dust off your lederhosen, and get ready for the workplace party of the year! Prost!

Assignment, new Hats, and Space Rig decoration
As you’ve come to expect from a DRG event, you will get access to a new, lucrative Assignment while Oktoberfest is running. Complete it and you will be rewarded with two new hats to commemorate the festivities, along with a most handsome compensation for your efforts.

Wearing either the traditional Trachtenhut or the Kegger is sure to get you and your colleagues in a festive mood. And if that doesn’t do it, Management has made sure the Space Rig is decorated to fit the beer-and-sausage theme of the season.

Usually, that would be it. But this time, management found some extra budget to allocate to this event. You’re in for a treat, miners!

Seasonal Oktoberfest Beer
During the event, you will have access to an entirely new brew never before seen on the Space Rig. Longbeard Brewery has made a beer to go along with the Oktoberfestivities:

The Best Wurst Beer is a tangy, sausage-flavored brew concocted especially for thirsty Oktoberfest-goers! Longbeard Brewery has ensured Management that it really is the best Wurst beer on the market, so it will without a doubt live up to its name. Management was also able to secure a hefty shipment of this new delicacy, so we should be all set in terms of supply until the event ends. You’d think it almost impossible to secure enough of this new brew to last us through Oktoberfest, but Management has come through - obviously!

Enjoy it, miners - you’ve earned it.

Earn Double Season XP
A Longbeard cargo freighter crashed on approach, scattering its cargo of specialty beer mugs across Hoxxes! The Oktoberfest celebration is in jeopardy, we can’t serve beer if we don’t have beer mugs! It’s a catastrophe!

Recovering a “Best Wurst Beer” mug during a mission will trigger a bonus, doubling your Mission Performance Points for that mission!

We ask all employees to drink responsibly during the mug shortage.

You will have to contain your yodeling for one more week until Oktoberfest starts. We trust the party as well as the new beer will both be experiences to remember! In the meantime, how about distracting yourself in the best way possible: Work! Morkite doesn’t mine itself, you know.

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew

Hello Miners,
Summer is nearing its end, and we remain hard at work chugging away on Season 03. And we hear you, you want to know more about what the next season will bring. Not to worry, miners, it won’t be long until we start sharing more about what to expect - promise! For now, all we can tell you is that we are nicely on track for a Q4 release and that we are pretty sure you will like what we have in store for you.

And before anyone asks: No, it’s not more robots.

Season 03 aside, we have some more tasty morsels to talk about:

Oktoberfest 2022, coming to a Space Rig near you

Yes, Oktoberfest is returning to Deep Rock Galactic! And from September 15th you’ll be able to join the beer-filled celebration on the Space Rig. We’ve had a lot of fun putting this event together - we may even have gone a little bit overboard. You will have to judge that for yourselves.

You can of course expect the regular assignment, rewards, hats, and so forth that you’ve come to know from a Deep Rock event - but there will also be a few new surprises. More info as we get closer to the event. For now, dust off your Trachtenhut, and get ready to party!

The event will end on October 3rd, assuming we can all last 2 weeks of in-game drinking and partying…and sometime later in October, expect something much scarier as Management has been dropping hints about a Halloween party. Again, more info to come.

FSR 2.0 Support out now

Didn’t we just release support for FSR 1.0?
Well, yes, and now there is a brand new version supported in the game. We heard good things from a lot of you who used FSR 1.0 and DLSS in DRG, so we are excited to see what this new version can do in terms of performance. Early testing shows promising results.

We are also leaving FSR 1.0 in, so you can select between the two versions if you should have any compatibility issues or your setup benefits from a specific version. We truly are spoiled for choice when it comes to upscaling technology.

Check here for compatible graphics cards and other general FSR 2.0 details

That’s it for now - so until next time:
Rock and Stone!

The Ghost Ship Crew

Hello Miners, old and new
We have been so busy lately that we almost missed the fact that 4 Million of you have now bought the game since our launch into Early Access back in 2018. A hearty thank you to all of you. We are grateful for all your support and the love you have shown for the game. It makes the blood, sweat, and tears we pour into the game feel more than worth it.

The last time we hit a similar milestone, 3 Million units sold, was just after the release of Season 01. That is 1 million of you joining the game on Steam since the Rivals first came to Hoxxes. We have followed the CCU closely, and the game is more alive than we ever dreamt of when we first launched it back in 2018.

If you are a Greenbeard fresh out of onboarding, welcome. We hope your time at the company will be rewarding, productive, and lucrative. And if you are a Greybeard with plenty of promotions under your belt, we salute your efforts. Thank you for welcoming so many new Miners and showing them the best of what the Deep Rock community has to offer.

We are hard at work on Season 03, and as we mentioned in our roadmap post, we expect it to launch sometime during Q4 2022. We have also started up our newsletter again. So if you want to get news about what we are up to here at Ghost Ship directly in your inbox, sign up here. And remember to join your fellow Miners on the DRG Discord Server.

Thanks again Miners, Rock and Stone!

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew

Hello Miners,
It is cold in space. Luckily, Management has a plan for dealing with that.

Space Beach Party
The first Beach Party in Space starts now and ends on July 11th.

Enjoy the (imaginary) sun and a couple of cold ones in this new event which includes:

  • The Hoxxes Summer Cruise assignment. Take a trip to some of Hoxxes’ scenic spots and enjoy the sights.
  • 2 new hats, awarded from the assignment. Complete your beach party look with these new additions to your wardrobe.
  • The Space Rig Bar has received a vacation-themed overhaul during this event. Kick back with a cold one and enjoy Summer in space in-between missions.

Management hopes you will enjoy the party together with your fellow colleagues, and reminds you that this does not constitute actual vacation. Happy Mining.

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew

Hello Miners,

Management has considered its past mistakes and added more gold to the tutorial for our greenbeards. Several balance tweaks have been made to difficulty and to weapons, but most importantly, Dreadnought twins should now be 43% less buggy and 31% more killable (Note: Based on projection. Loss of life attempting to engage Dreadnoughts are not covered under company insurance)

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew

Hello Miners,
We have some exciting news for you. On June 20th you can enjoy the first ever Space Beach Party. In usual DRG fashion you will find a brand new assignment available with new hats to collect. And festive decorations as well. Time for some serious workcation, miners!

Roadmap Update
Now that Season 02 has been out for a bit, it is time for a Roadmap Update. We are already hard at work making Season 03, and although it is still very early in development, we can mention a couple of things to expect.

There will be a new Performance Pass, but you can expect that for any new season, so not much of a surprise there. We are also making a whole new theme for Season 03. More updates to follow.

We are also planning to add new grenades to your arsenal. We are still testing out ideas, and some of them have blown us away. Expect these new additions to your arsenal to be a blast to use. Try not to explode with excitement before you get your hands on them.

There will of course also be a DLC to go along with the new season. And you can probably expect one or two more things to sneak into Season 03. We try to stick to scope, but we just can’t help ourselves from getting more cool features into the game. You probably know by now.

We can’t wait to tell you more. But we will have to wait a bit. Expect us to be a bit quiet over Summer as July is usually a vacation period here at Ghost Ship. In the meantime, enjoy Season 02 and the Space Beach Party. You have earned it, Miners.
