Season 02 - Rival Escalation is only weeks away! And in the usual DRG spirit, there is a brand-new Narrated Trailer showing you all the new features you get to experience.
Let’s break them down below for those who like reading (and if you do, Management commends you)
A New Season Event - Rival Signal
The Rival presence on Hoxxes is escalating (hence the name of Season 02). In this brand new event for Season 02 you will be shutting down communications equipment set up by the Rivals. Similar to Season 01, this event will require some hacking as well as good old-fashioned firepower to complete. Time to provide some healthy competition, miners!
New Warning - Rival Presence
Playing missions with this new warning will include swarms of Rival robots. These murderous little machines are a force to be reckoned with, so be extra vigilant. Management has luckily factored in the potential scenario of an escalating Rival presence on Hoxxes, and has something new prepared to counter it.
4 New secondary weapons
You have all of course been following the Secondary Weapon reveals in the Steam Posts leading up to Season 02. But just in case you need a refresher, each of the classes is getting a new secondary weapon to deal with all of the above. The Scout gets the Nishanka Boltshark X-80, the Engineer gets the Shard Diffractor, The Gunner gets the ArmsKore Coil Gun, and the Driller gets the Colette Wave Cooker.
The Rival Nemesis
Those new weapons will soon be field-tested as the Rivals have unleashed their latest menace on DRG. We do not know much about this new threat yet, miners, so stay on your toes. Unless the Nemesis grabs you in its metal embrace, of course. In which case, this next feature should come in handy
Medical Gowns added to the Medbay
If you happen to be downed on a mission and wake up in the medbay, you will now find that you are wearing garbs proper for recovery. While they may be comfortable, Management strongly reminds you to change into work garments before going on your next mission. Mainly because the Medical Gown is (just barely) approved for use in medical facilities. But also to ensure the gowns can be reused so we can stay within budget.
Phazyonite
Have you been wanting to mix up your appearance more frequently, but find that you need to spend those credits on upgrades rather than new items in the shop? Well, the new mineral Phazyonite which you will be able to find while on missions can only be used to purchase cosmetic items. So now you can buy that new helmet without foregoing an upgrade. This Season also introduces the Cosmetic Mastery system. When you buy items from the shop, your Cosmetic Mastery increases, giving you more Phazyonite as a reward. Time to mix up that outfit! Changing clothes regularly will be appreciated by your fellow miners.
New Performance Pass
This is a new Season after all, so there is of course a new season terminal. New Beards, Paintjobs, Helmets, etc. It is of course completely free, just like in Season 01. And any rewards you did not unlock from the Season 01 performance pass can be found in Cargo Crates, Lost Packs, Cosmetic Cores, and The Shop.
New DLC - Robot Rebellion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR9HuzZeDdw We mentioned this in the last post, but here it is again: There will of course be a new cosmetic DLC released at the same time as season 02. Robot Rebellion will include 4 new suits of armor (one for each class), a unique new helmet in two variants, and new paintjobs. You can wishlist it now.
Season 02 lands on Steam April 28th, and on Consoles May 5th. And, we’ll be launching a preview on the Experimental Branch during the middle of next week. We’ll update this post with the exact experimental branch date later.
We’ve moved some barrels, now they shouldn’t fall into the launch bay unless "someone" kicks them. We also added preparations for The Great Egg Hunt event which will start April 7th,19.00 CET and end April 19th, 19.00 CET.
With Love, The Ghost Ship Crew
--- PATCH NOTES ---
Moved some barrels
Fixed that players could join after the primary objective final stage was started on Salvage and Industrial Sabotage
A few more words this time around, compared to our last post. Many of you managed to decipher the code within the picture, and for that we salute you! It was a tricky puzzle,so to make sure the information is shared with all:
Once Season 02 lands, you will all have access to the Season 02 Performance Pass, and all the unlockable cosmetic items it includes. We promised you before that you will still be able to unlock the items from past seasons even after they end, and we are sticking with that promise. More on that real soon.
But there’s more.
Many of you noticed the dwarves fighting something in the key art for Season 02 shown last week. And some of you have come very close to guessing what it is (where is that Driller???). Stay tuned for the big reveal in the near future. And if you can’t wait for us to post it here, you can tune in to our weekly Dev Streams on Twitch every Thursday and Friday.
Season 02 lands April 28th on Steam, and May 5th on Consoles. And if you want to try it early, we’ll be releasing it on the experimental branch on 19th April.
Season 02 Cosmetic DLC - Robot Rebellion
Just like last season, you will be able to buy a new collection of cosmetic items in the Robot Rebellion Pack. Check out the new armor frameworks, helmets, and paintjobs in the video below.
Be among the first to get notified when it lands by wishlisting it now. So you can show off your new armor and matching helmets before everyone else.
Easter Event - The Great Egg Hunt
While you wait for Season 02 you can enjoy The Great Egg Hunt, starting April 7th, 19.00 CET (ending April 19th, 19.00 CET).
What might you be able to experience during this event? Well, in usual DRG-fashion, the Space Rig will be eggsquisitely decorated. There will also be a new assignment for you to complete and earn the two eggstravagant new hats.
And, if you play any Egg Hunt missions during the event, see if you can spot the Easter Egg (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*) included as well.
What an eggciting time to be alive, Miners!
That’s all for now, but stay tuned for more reveals as we get closer to Season 02. Until then, happy mining.
If you have stuck with us for the past few months, you know that this is coming: The reveal of the final Secondary Weapon for Season 02.
So, last but not least, the Shard Diffractor!
Now that you know about all the secondary weapons coming in Season 02, you are probably thinking, ‘So when do I get to use them?’. We are still on track for an April release of Season 02, we have not locked down the exact date yet, but we will soon. So expect an update from management in this regard. And, we still have a few surprises left in terms of what is coming in Season 02, so stay tuned.
DRG Board Game Kickstarter Completed
If you were one of the nearly 20.000 people who backed the DRG Board Game Kickstarter campaign, then we thank you with all our hearts. When we were working on this project together with MOOD and Ole, we knew that it was both a fun board game and an awesome collection of minis. But we never expected the project to get over 2.5 Million EUR in backing.
Many of you have reached out to us about how you can still get your hands on the board game now that the campaign is over. We’ve put together a FAQ on the campaign site with all that information.
A few other things
The four year anniversary event is over, and to all of you who managed to get the anniversary hats, we tip our hats to you. And while the event is over, you can catch the rerun of our anniversary stream over on our youtube channel.
Here’s the Q&A session with founders Søren (CEO) and Mikkel (Creative Director):
And here’s the art showcase by Frederik (Artist) and Anders (Designer)
And the Modding showcase and Stream-Till-You-Drop session with Jacob (Community Manager) and the Ghost Ship Crew.
Following the four year anniversary, Deep Rock hit another milestone: 100.000 Steam Reviews, 97% of those being positive! We consider this a birthday gift from you, our players. Management thanks you for your effort, miners, and looks forward to many more exciting and lucrative years on Hoxxes together.
First, thanks to all of you who followed our livestream Friday and helped us celebrate our 4 year anniversary. And a big welcome to all the new players joining over the Free Weekend. Now on to the news on the board game:
Back in October 2021, we announced that a board game adaption of Deep Rock Galactic was in the works. And on February 10, 2022, we launched a Kickstarter campaign to find out how many of you were interested in this project. It quickly turned out that the support was overwhelmingly positive, and we shot through our funding goal faster than you can say Rock & Stone (okay, maybe not that fast - it did take 18 minutes).
The board game project has come to life through the collaboration with our friends at MOOD Publishing and board game designer Ole Steiness. Ghost Ship Games has acted chiefly as IP stakeholders, helped test the game, and made sure it lived up to expectations. Adapting a video game to a board game is tricky and filled with pitfalls, but we are incredibly proud of how it turned out. The feedback from the Kickstarter has further improved the product, and now we can't wait to play the finished version.
Now we are entering the very last phase of the Kickstarter campaign. It ends on Thursday, March 3, at 7 pm CES (UTC+2), so if you missed out, you can still back it here
(And yes, Season 02: Rival Escalation for Deep Rock Galactic is still on its way and will release in April)
Deep Rock Galactic - Soren - Captain of Ghost Ship
Hello Miners,
Season 02 is still on track for an April release, and we are continuing our reveals of the four new secondary weapons. This time it's the Driller's new best friend: the Colette Wave Cooker! Someone from R&D found a way to turn a kitchen appliance into a deadly weapon that will boil the enemies leaving behind only a nasty smell of burned Glyphid flesh!
Season 02 theme and title
You have probably also wondered about what Season 02 will be called and how it will be themed. And it might not come as a complete surprise that we have decided to build upon Season 01 and expand on the whole Rival theme. That also means the Industrial Sabotage mission will still be around, but we will also add new cool unannounced features and content and reveal/tease these in the coming weeks.
Season 02 will also have a completely new Performance Pass with an even bigger Cosmetic Tree than before and, according to the artists, even cooler cosmetics. Though, we might at the same time tune down the time it takes to complete it just a bit.
With an April release for Season 02 you still have some time to complete the Season 01 Performance Pass. And any items you miss out on will be go into the game to be obtained though Cargo Crates, Lost Packs, Cosmetic Matrix Cores, and the Shop.
Board game Update
The Kickstarter for the board game adaption of Deep Rock Galactic is moving into its last week and will end on Thursday, 3rd of March. Many new additions to the board game were revealed during the Kickstarter campaign including more mission types, more weapons, and upgraded components. The Kickstarter is now 1000% funded, which is far and beyond our expectations. If you want some real insights into how the actual board game will play and feel, just watch this video where Ole Steiness, the game designer, and our friends at MOOD Publishing showcase a turn-by-turn playthrough.
Hello Miners, Four years in orbit! That calls for a celebration. Luckily, we have been preparing just such a thing.

Completing the first and last mission of the assignment above will net you two different anniversary hats. Celebrate in style!

Here’s a small patch with a fix for a crash we have been hunting for a while - as well as stopping an unstoppable perk bug - and a banner that we are very excited about.
With Love, The Ghost Ship Crew
