Dear KARDS players, friends, and WWII enthusiasts,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we present the freshly updated KARDS roadmap.

The roadmap is a regularly updated, high-level overview of the milestones and important events for KARDS. The roadmap contains only the highest level of features; not listed on the roadmap are smaller projects we are working on and general KARDS improvements. Balancing changes is also not listed on the roadmap, even though they are ongoing and essential for our development work. Keep in mind that this is a living document and that the events further in the future will receive more info as time passes by.

Without further ado, let's have a look at what we can expect in the coming months!

March (completed)

Catalyst mini-expansion with 24 new cards

April: Easter event

While not exactly a traditional easter egg hunt, we have a lovely Easter event ready for you in KARDS. :)

April: KARDS 1st anniversary

On April 15th, 2021, we celebrate the first anniversary of KARDS. Expect goodies and extra fun!

May: KARDS Spring expansion

One of the two major KARDS expansions in 2021, the Spring expansion comes with a sizable amount of new cards and results in a new KARDS experience.

Q3: Mini-expansion with new cards

Similar to the Catalyst expansion, this release will build on the Spring expansion introducing new cards.

Q4 Winter expansion

This expansion is one of the two highlights this winter. Similar to previous major winter expansion, expect to see new cards and cool game features!

Q4 World Championship

The second highlight this winter next to the expansion is the KARDS World Championship! Like the previous World Championships, we will have qualifiers and then the actual tournament with a grand final.

Mobile Release

The mobile version for Android and iOS devices is highly anticipated, allowing you to connect and play anywhere you want. Initially scheduled for Q1 2021, we have moved the mobile version's release as we need more time to develop and deliver a great experience on your mobile device. We don't want to compromise quality for a rushed delivery that doesn't pay justice to your (and our) expectations. We are still firmly committed and very excited about the mobile version as this is our current top priority regarding the big picture of KARDS.

The roadmap is painted in broad strokes and shows only the highest level of what we have planned. There are many smaller features and improvements which will come along the road.

As you can see, the rest of 2021 is packed with KARDS excitement and good things to come!

The whole team is thrilled for the future and would love to hear your feedback! Join our KARDS Discord or use the comments below.

Welcome to KARDS: Blitz, the week of tournaments for everyone to join!

Lots of fun lies ahead, as these tournaments are designed to be quick and for everyone to enjoy. As a bonus, winning one of these mini-tournaments also qualifies you for the cash-prize tournament on the weekend. Big thanks to our partners at 983 Media for organizing this tournament.

Let's go right into the details!

PS: If you can't wait for the KARDS: Blitz, check out the latest Meta report by 983 Media. It is worth your time!

TOURNAMENT FORMAT OVERVIEW

The Kards: Blitz event is made up of over 32 unique tournaments, each with up to 8 players, played over a 4 day period. Each day will have two 4 hour blocks of tournaments and the 4 hour window will be rotated to better serve different time zones. Therefore the Blitz! Stage of the tournament will be as follows:

March 16 & 18th
Block A start - 17:00 GMT
Block B start - 23:00 GMT

March 17th & 19th
Block A start - 14:00 GMT
Block B start - 01:00 (next day) GMT

Each day we will host at least 8 tournaments in the 4 hour window, with the winner of each tournament qualifying for the Kards: Blitz Main Event which will take place on the 20th and 21st of March with 1000 USD up for grabs!

REGISTRATION
Registration opens 1 hour before each tournament. You register / sign up for as many tournaments as you want to play on Battlefy.
TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION

Note: Registration opens 1 hour before, not sooner!

FORMAT
-4 to 8 player Single elimination, best of three
-no deck restrictions or requirements (bring as many or as few decks as you'd like and change your decks anytime you want!)
-Winner qualifies for main event on March 20th

IMPORTANT: Blitz is a free-for-all format for decks. You can bring as many or as few decks as you would like to each event with no restriction on main/ally nations. Your goal is to win a best of 3 match up any way possible to advance in any given bracket.

TOURNAMENT FAQ

How does Kards Blitz work?
To make things as simple as possible players can bring whatever decks they want without restrictions. All series are best of three and players are allowed to bring the same deck multiple times. This means there are no bans, no deck submissions and no hassle. Just show up, sign up and compete!

The Blitz Tournaments will have 4-8 players each, depending on demand at any given time and the top 50% of tournament participants will receive in game prizes, with the winner qualifying for the main event.

The main event will be a big single elimination bracket filled with best of 3 series all the way to the end. It’s a tournament format that leaves no room for mistakes, so players better bring their A-game!

Where do I register to play in Kards Blitz?
Registration for each Kards Blitz event will open one hour before the events start time. There will be 8 seats available for any given tournament. Once you've registered for a Blitz, you will then check-in to the event 15 minutes before the start time.

The tournament registration will open 1 hour before the start of each tournament:
TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION

Do I need to submit my deck lists for Kards Blitz?
Nope! Kards Blitz is a free-for-all deck format. This means you can play whatever deck you want, however many times you want. Bring one deck or try out 5 different decks. The choice is yours!

What does single elimination bracket mean?
Each Blitz event is a best of three single elimination bracket. This means you will need to defeat your opponent 2 times in order to win the round and move to the next round. If you lose a round, you are eliminated from the event. You will then be free to sign up for another Blitz event if one is available. If you win a Blitz qualifier event, you will qualify for the main event on March 20th. Therefore, if you win a qualifier event, you will not be able to play in the remaining qualifiers.

How will I know who my opponent is?
Each new round you will see your opponent on the “Brackets” page in Battlefy. You can communicate directly with your opponent through your Battlefy match page or through Discord. If your opponent is not responsive after ten minutes, please let a 983 Crew member know.

Can I register to play in more than one Blitz qualifier?
Yup! You can sign up for as many or as little as you like till you've qualified for the main event. If you win a Blitz qualifier event, you will qualify for the main event on March 20th. Therefore, if you win a qualifier event, you will not be able to play in the remaining qualifiers.(edited)

How do I check-in to my match and what does that mean?
Each new bracket round, you will be required to “check-in” to your match on Battlefy. When you go to your match page, you will see a “I’m Ready” button. Click this to let your opponent know you are here and ready.
IMPORTANT: Each new bracket round you will only have 10 minutes to check-in to your match. Failure to check-in to your match after 10 minutes of the new round starting will result in an automatic round loss. If you have not shown or not checked-in to a round during the tournament, you will be automatically disqualified.

What if I played my matches but forgot to check-in to the round?
Don’t worry! An admin can reset the match for you so that you can report your scores. In most cases, an admin will have reached out to you to see if you are there and playing if they see the auto loss take place.

What happens if my opponent doesn’t show up?
Free wins! Your opponent will be given an auto loss for the round if they fail to show up and check-in to the match after 10 minutes, which will give you the 2-0 victory. If this does happen, please let an admin know in the Discord that your opponent was a no show.

What happens if my opponent showed up AFTER the 10 minutes were up?
To keep the tournament moving in a timely manner, we can not make exceptions to the 10 minute rules. No shows to a round after 10 minutes is an automatic loss.

What happens if my opponent showed up but is now not responding?
Please inform an admin in the discord or flag your match in Battlefy so they can assess the situation and attempt to make contact with your opponent.

What happens if my opponent and I tie?
A tie will be treated as a replay. You will queue into the match again with the same decks and replay the game.

What happens if I was disconnected from the game in the middle of a match?
Should a game end due to DISCONNECTION once both players have seen the game match screen and a turn has been played by both players, then the player who disconnects is given the loss. If a game ends due to a disconnection BEFORE the game screen is accessed or before each player has played one turn, then the match is replayed.

I queued into a game with the wrong deck. Now what?
Since Blitz is a "free-for-all" deck format, you will be obligated to play with whatever deck you queued into your match with. If you chose to concede or forfeit the match in an attempt to change your deck, the forfeit will still be counted as a loss.(edited)

I finished my round matches. Now what?
Once you have finished your games for the round and have reported your scores in Battlefy, you can wait in the 983 Discord for your next opponent. Since this is an elimination bracket, as soon as you see a new opponent in the bracket for you, you may contact your opponent and start your matchup.

Rounds may take MORE than one hour in some situations. Please be advised that you might wait for a while if you’ve finished your rounds early. HOWEVER, you are responsible for showing up to the next round in a timely manner.

How do I drop out of the tournament?
If you no longer wish to participate in the qualifier you registered for, just let an admin know in this discord and they will drop you from the bracket.

Are intentional losses allowed?
No. Intentional losses or draws are not allowed. If you are caught or suspected of win trading, you will be disqualified from the bracket and will not be allowed to register for other Blitz qualifiers.

Hey guys,

These days we’re working hard on the finishing touches for the release of Breakthrough - Catalyst, expansion... add-on… that is a mouthful :). I’ll just call it “Baby Expansion” in this blog.

Anyway, we were planning to release a few balancing changes at the same time but have decided to roll them out immediately as they are ready now and have no direct connection to the aforementioned Baby Expansion.

These changes will go live on March 4th.

P-51 MUSTANG

This iconic US fighter was given a lot of love recently and now we want to try moving a few targets out of the deadly range of its deployment effect. We will keep monitoring the performance of this plane and let’s see what the future brings us.

75th RANGERS

These boys have been reported to be out of control after they got drafted. Hopefully this calms them down a little bit. Hammer away!

FLAMMPANZER

While lowering the defense of this slightly controversial panzer, we are giving it the ability to engage in some historically accurate anti-aircraft flamethrower action again ;)

IN THE NAVY

We felt this countermeasure was slightly underwhelming and wanted to test out some tweaks.

LURKING DANGER

The Kredit discount on the turn it was drawn was not that good as everyone then knew about the lurking danger ahead. We felt that a good 2-for-1 is a bit more elite.

SHTURMOVIK Il-2M

We have wanted to get this very iconic plane into more combat action for a long time and decided to drop its deployment cost to make it more attractive.

SHIBATA REGIMENT

This running dude has not been a very popular choice so he got a bit of cuddling from us.

That’s it for now. We hope we nailed some of these correctly and we can’t wait to get you all the new cards that are just around the corner.

Great news for all players that want to either take KARDS a bit more easily or that want to experiment with exciting new decks and strategies.

Based on excellent community feedback and own research from the KARDS team, you can now enjoy the new CASUAL BATTLE.

Casual Battle

Casual Battle allows you to simply play a match without any worries about the impact on the ladder. Matches played in Casual Battle have no effect on the seasonal ladder (no stars gained or lost); they are just for the pure fun of playing and experimenting with some crazy ideas.

When choosing a match (before you actually enter the battlefield), you can decide if you want to play it as a casual battle or not. It is that simple!

Try it out for yourself and play a couple matches right away!
