Eternal Card Game - Dire Wolf CS

The Hermit was revealed to be Severin when he brought about Hivefall, announcing his dark intentions far and wide. Now the people of Thera must rally together to face the biggest threat they’ve ever known. Alliances are forged. Heroes are born. And Battle Lines are drawn.

The news you’ve been waiting for is finally here. The next set for Eternal is on its way; Battle Lines will come this Fall and contain over 200 cards and a few new mechanics!

In the meantime, we’re going to change up both Draft and Expedition to help shake things up until then:

Expedition
We’re adding all the cards from the Into Shadow expansion to Expedition. As a note, Into Shadow will leave Expedition alongside Unleashed and Enter the Arcanum when Battle Lines arrives.

Draft
We’re changing up the packs!

  • The Old: Behemoths of Thera, Behemoths of Thera, Unleashed, Behemoths of Thera
  • The New: Unleashed, Behemoths of Thera, Behemoths of Thera, Unleashed

Both of these changes will go live later today with the next chapter’s update!

Lastly, we’ll leave you with this little teaser… a taste of what’s to come in Battle Lines.

Stay tuned!

Eternal Card Game - Dire Wolf CS

Greetings from Thera! It’s been a few months since The Devouring, and while we’re overall happy with its impact on the meta, we’re making a few small balance changes aimed primarily at Expedition.

  • Riftfeeder Wasp to “Empower: +2/+2.” and “Summon: Draw two random power cards from your deck…” (was “Empower: +3/+3.” and “Summon: Draw the top two power cards of your deck.”)
Riftfeeder Wasp has been a flashpoint for discussion since it was released. We like the decision points it creates and the way it can outscale board stalls, but we agree that it can kill a little too quickly without providing enough space for the opponent to respond. It can often end the game in two attacks, hitting for 9 the turn after it’s played and 12 the turn after that. We want to keep its ability to scale up over time but pull back on how quickly that happens. It was also getting some hidden power by improving your upcoming draws in addition to the threatening body and power cards up front.

  • Kelmak's Bloodspear now gains Voidbound when played from the void.
It’s been cool to have a recurring Versatile weapon that can be played on a unit one time and as a relic the next, but the abundance of cheap heroes in Throne has made it trivial to recur numerous times in a single game. Star-Reader Severin has been a particular offender, which is ironic given the circumstances of Kelmak’s death. This change retains the ability to recur the Spear in either of its forms, but creates a point where your opponent can stop worrying about it.

  • Foxfang Katars to 4/2 (was 3/2)
Foxfang Katars have largely been overshadowed by Ossuar Longbow, even in Rakano decks that can easily meet the influence requirements. We believe that this buff will increase the variety in Expedition by giving Longbow a strong competitor with different upsides and restrictions.
  • Youngblood Tactician to 3/3 (was 3/1)
Youngblood Tactician is an appropriately tactical and dynamic way for Fire decks to fight through large Time blockers. While it’s already strong in those matchups, we wanted to improve its floor in other matchups with a bit of extra health.

Note: As Rift Wasp and Kelmak’s Bloodspear were only available through The Devouring set, we are giving a one-time grant of 2,500 gold to users who purchased the set. Users that purchased the premium versions of the set will receive an additional 2,500 gold. Users will, of course, keep all their copies of the cards.

As always, we thank you for your continued support as we continue to evolve the meta!

Fates intertwined, paths forged, memories made...

In Victory, the battles of heroes become legends.

The Heroic Memories Event tests out your Hero's bravery with a special rule:

#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
Each player starts with 30 Health. Once per game, you can pay 3 power to draw your hero. Then, you'll both gain an Aegis, or your hero will get +1/+1 if it already has Aegis.

When entering the event, select a Hero from your collection. Be wary: your fates are tied! After choosing your hero, set up a deck that meets the following requirements:

  • Has exactly 1 copy of all non-power cards
  • Does not contain a copy of the Hero you selected
  • Shares factions with your selected Hero
  • Markets are closed

Your deck is not limited to the factions of your Hero and you have the option to edit your deck between games in a run.

What memories will you and your Hero make together?
  • Heroic Memories uses the Heroic Singleton format, and will run from Friday, May 26th until Monday, May 29th.
  • This event costs 200 Gems or 2,500 Gold to enter.
  • Your first 10 runs will determine your position on the event leaderboard. The top 500 players will also get 4 premium Alternate Art copies of Ascetic Lantern!

Eternal Card Game - Dire Wolf CS

Gather round, heroes. The time has come for another Eternal Balance Update...

  • Ascetic Lantern to 2-cost 2/2 (from 1-cost 2/1)
  • Twilight Lantern to 1/3 (from 2/2)
In Expedition, Fire-based aggro (including Stonescar) has crept up to a worrying win rate, especially at higher MMRs. While the two lanterns aren’t necessarily the most powerful cards in these decks, they do contribute significantly to many of the most despairing games. The increased health adds a bit more variety to Fire statlines and what blockers/removal line up most efficiently against them.

  • "Save the Day" to “Kill an enemy unit without Endurance.” (was “Kill an enemy unit.)

Save the Day serves a valuable metagame function as both a way to stabilize against aggressive decks and close out midrange mirrors. That said, it has become repetitive in that use, with too many games ending the same way. We’re adding a little more room for counterplay, so that units with Endurance can provide offense or defense through the AOE stun instead of just being target #1.

  • "Youngblood Driver" to 4/4 (was 4/2)

This is a fun little build-around who hasn’t seen much play. The extra health brings up the floor on casting it with 0-2 other spells, without substantially impacting the already impressive best-case scenarios.

Crafted copies of Ascetic Lantern and Twilight Lantern can be destroyed for a full refund. Because Save the Day is only obtained from a Chapter, players who purchased Chapter 9 - The Long Path will receive a 650 gold grant.

Thanks for your support, and thanks for playing Eternal!

…isn’t it glorious?

Beyond the settlement walls, the great beasts grow restless, violent. They sense the wrongness spreading through Thera, scuttling through the shadows as the people sleep on, oblivious.

There are always those willing to sacrifice their neighbor for their own survival.

And Hecaton must be fed.

The feeding frenzy begins on on Wednesday, April 5 when The Devouring Bundle brings 24 new cards to Eternal!
