We just wanted to give you an update, as we are well aware that the patch yesterday came with frustrating issues. It is important that you know we are taking this very seriously and sorting them out is our highest priority at the moment.
Trophy lodge issues, animal variations, and other issues are our focus, alongside crashes. Sending your save games to support@thehunter.com and letting us know what issues you are experiencing, is always a tremendous help.
We are aiming to get a hotfix out before the end of the week, and we will give you an update tomorrow to let you all know how this is tracking.
We are sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused some of you, we endeavour to put it right!

“Easter Egg” Hunt and Big Fix Checks Open Beta Announcement
Hello Hunters,
This weekend, we need you to head out into the many different reserves and test the bug fixes listed below for us. On top of this, there is actually new content hidden somewhere, but in order for us to test it properly, we can not tell you what it is, as we need to check the rarity of it happening.
What we can tell you, is that it is not Turkeys and it is not Bigfoot. But, if you do find it, you can shoot it and you will go down in history as a hunting legend, especially if you are the first player ever to find it. This is a true “Easter Egg Hunt”! We have opened up a new channel in our Discord where you can discuss this new addition to the game and if you find it, put your proof there and @treekiwi! Join our Discord server here: https://discord.gg/ZgXDqFS

The Trailblazer Beta, what does it entail?
It’s a chance for you to, during a limited period, experience changes to the game before they are technically “live”. It’s also a way for us to test updates without “committing” them to the main version of the game.
How long does the Trailblazer Beta run for?
The Beta will be available from now, until 9am CEST Tuesday April 14th
How can I get involved?
Right-click theHunter: Call of the Wild in your Steam library and click “Properties.'' A window will open, then click the tab at the far right labeled “Betas”, you will then come to a window that looks like the one below: Please enter the following code in the box (without the quotation marks): “CalloftheWild”, then CLICK “Check Code” (just hitting enter won’t work). You should now notice that your game will start an update, this will be the Open Beta build installing.
Note: The download can potentially be large, and this will need to be re-downloaded as you switch between the live/Open Beta clients, so those on metered internet connections please bear that in mind.
So what happens to my old build and save files?
Nothing. When you start the Open beta client your game will be entirely “fresh”, you’ll have no save game, cash, skills etc. But don’t worry, this has NO effect on your “live” version of the game, you can switch back and forth at any time (see the next point below).
Note: We DO have a means for you to get up and running quickly in the Trailblazer Beta. Hit “Escape” and go to the Hunt Club Beta menu, there’ll be a reward there where you can claim a large sum of credits, a big XP boost and weapon score points in all categories.
DO NOT MOVE OR MESS WITH THE SAVE FILE, IF YOU DO, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
I’ve had enough of testing the Open Beta for now, how do I go back to my normal version of the game?
Do the initial same steps as when installing the Open Beta, but when you get to the Beta tab you should not fill in a code. Instead in the drop-down box saying “Select the beta you would like to opt into:” you simply pick “None - opt out of all beta programs” and your client will run a small update. After that, you can play the normal version of the game again. You can switch back and forth between the live version and Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme at any time during the period just by using that dropdown menu.
How do I provide feedback or report issues I’ve found during the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme?
Yay, you’ve made it to the best part! Please see below the changelog for the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme, this will give you some ideas about what to look at specifically when playing on it.
Note: You WILL need ownership to the relevant content on the live version of the game in order to test it in the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme. For example, Parque Fernando specific content would require you owning that particular DLC. That being said, you can of course join a multiplayer hosted game on that reserve should you not own it yourself.
This smoking hot pack can now be purchased and is sure to provide both entertainment and enjoyment. Be it coughing your way through the smoke from the Hudzik .50 caplock Muzzleloader, or hearing that satisfying P-TING sound of the M1 Iwaniec Semi Automatic Rifle. Perhaps you want to face down a charging bear with the Miller Model 1891 10GA Lever Action Shotgun?
For one week only, you can purchase this DLC and get 25% off!
The pack contains:
Hudzik .50 caplock Muzzleloader
M1 Iwaniec Semi Automatic Rifle

New Features
TruRACs for Water Buffalo
Introduction of Animal Scoring 2.0
Overhaul of Black Bear and Grizzly Bear animations
Animal Scoring 2.0
One of the biggest changes with the new animal scoring system, is that integrity has been replaced with a system of classes. Every species has been assigned an animal class, and ammunition is now permitted for a specified range of classes.
For example : Whitetail Deer is a class 4 animal European Bison is a class 9 animal .243 ammunition is allowed for classes 2,4,3,4,5 and 6. Therefore, .243 ammo can be used to hunt Whitetail Deer, but not European Bison.
Medals are now awarded based on the trophy rating of the harvested animal and the result of the harvest check, a set of 4 conditions you need to meet when shooting an animal. Failing to do so will result in a reduced medal rank.
The trophy rating is entirely dependent on the trophy of the animal : horns, antlers, weight, etc. and the scoring method is unique to each individual species.
All details regarding the new animal/weapon classes can be found in the in-game UI, just check your Codex.

As you all know, Animal Scoring 2.0 and TruWATERBUFFALO are soon to be released into the game. Because this is such an important release, we would love to get your feedback on the new Animal Scoring and the new TruRACS on the Water Buffalo. So from now until 9am CEST Monday the 27th of January, we will be running an open beta to gather your feedback.
Have a look at the first diagram below, as it paints a nice picture how the different ammunition stacks up against the different classes of animals, and the second image which shows which animal falls into what class. However, this information can also be found in the UI in game, so there is no need to learn all of this by heart :)
Medals are now awarded based on the trophy rating of the harvested animal and the result of the harvest check, a set of 3 conditions you need to meet when shooting an animal. Failing to do so will result in a reduced medal rank.
The trophy rating is entirely dependent on the trophy of the animal : horns, antlers, weight, etc. and the scoring method is unique to each individual species. If you look at the ‘Animal Classes Diagram’, you can see the minimum score required to achieve a given medal for each species.
