We just wanted to announce that we’ve now closed the Trailblazer Beta!
Thanks a lot to all of you who have participated and shared your feedback so far! We really appreciate it!

Hello Hunters,

Some of you may have seen the new species clues that we’ve released on social media over the previous couple of days, it's soon time to meet the Gemsbok! The gemsbok is a large antelope of the "Oryx" genus that's typically found in Southern Africa/the Kalahari desert, you however will be meeting it in Vurhonga Savanna (at no extra cost)! This new species will in fact be coming along together with some large general improvements to theHunter: Call of the Wild. As such we are taking extra steps to ensure this can be the best release possible.

For the first time ever we’ll offer you an Open Beta period that we’re lovingly calling the “Trailblazer Programme”. We’ve received a lot of feedback in the past where players have requested the chance to take part in early testing of new content and this particular update is the perfect time for us to try it out and get you all involved early.

The Trailblazer Programme sounds cool, but what does it entail?
It’s a chance for you to, during a limited period, play new content before it is technically “live”. It’s also a way for us to get advance notice of bugs that may otherwise not be visible during internal testing (thousands of players are always going to find things that even the most dedicated of QA teams might miss).

How long does the Trailblazer Programme run for?
The program will be available from around about now (as of this post going live), until Monday 5th November, 12pm CET.

Who can take part in the Trailblazer Programme?
At the moment it is only available for PC players due to how quickly we can deploy things on the PC platform (nothing personal against our console fans, we appreciate you just as much!). The good news is that all of the benefits gained from running the Trailblazer Programme will transfer over into our console builds of the game, which is a win for everybody!

How can I get involved?
Right-click theHunter: Call of the Wild in your Steam library and click “Properties”. A window will prompt and you click the tab at the far right labelled “Betas”, you will then come to a window that looks like the below:

Please enter the following code in the box (without the quotation marks): “CalloftheWild”, then CLICK “Check Code” (just hitting enter won’t work). You should now notice that your game will start an update, this will be the Open Beta build installing.

Note: The download is approximately 30GB in size, and this will need to be re-downloaded as you switch between the live/Open Beta clients, so those on metered internet connections please bear that in mind.

So what happens to my old build and save files?
Nothing. When you start the Open beta client your game will be entirely “fresh”, you’ll have no save game, cash, skills etc. But don’t worry, this has NO effect on your “live” version of the game, you can switch back and forth at any time (see the next point below). Apart from you starting fresh, it should for the most part be identical to the “live” build other than the changes that we want you to test (which we’ll mention further down).

Note: We DO have a means for you to get up and running quickly in the Trailblazer Beta. Hit “Escape” and go to the Hunt Club Beta menu, there’ll be a reward there where you can claim a large sum of credits, a big XP boost and weapon score points in all categories.

I’ve had enough of testing the Open Beta for now, how do I go back to my normal version of the game?
Do the initial same steps as when installing the Open Beta, but when you get to the Beta tab you should not fill in a code. Instead in the drop-down box saying “Select the beta you would like to opt into:” you simply pick “None - opt out of all beta programs”” and your client will run a small update. After that you can play the normal version of the game again. You can switch back and forth between the live version and Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme at any time during the period just by using that dropdown menu.

How do provide feedback or I report issues I’ve found during the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme?
Please use our “Beta Feedback” board on the Steam Community Hub here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/13/

What do you want us to test?
Yay, you’ve made it to the best part! Please see below the changelog for the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme, this will give you some ideas about what to look at specifically when playing on it.

Note: You WILL need ownership to the relevant content on the live version of the game in order to test it in the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme. For example, new Vurhonga Savanna-specific content would require you owning that particular DLC. That being said, you can of course join a multiplayer hosted game on that reserve should you not own it yourself.

Changelog

Please pay attention to the following:

  • The new animal on Vurhonga Savannah - the Gemsbok.

  • The new logic of pathfinding for all animals, they should not get stuck or teleport anymore. If you encounter stuck or teleporting animals, or animals that are running in circles please report that.

  • The new improved and reworked UI. Please tell us if you can’t click a button or you see random text popping up anywhere.

  • Improved animations on all animals, especially turning will be much smoother, so please look out for animals that look weird.

  • Smoother matchmaking in multiplayer, if you run into problems, please let us know.

Again, please be sure to put any feedback or bug reports you may encounter (ONLY from this beta version of the game) on the new forum here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/13/

Enjoy!

I know there are deer nearby, because the helpful disembodied voice told me, and I have complete trust in the disembodied voice. theHunter: Call of the Wild, which launched in 2017 but has since been scooped up along with its DLC and repackaged as the 2019 Edition, contains a multitude of deer, I am promised, along with all kinds of woodland and savanna critters. All I can see are birds, however, and they are mocking me.

Hello hunters!

As you might know we reverted the PC Patch 1.25 and performed a rollback to patch 1.24 - since we thought this was the best solution to temporarily fix the issues with the callers not working as they should. But we have some good news, we now have patch 1.26 available for PC!

This patch includes the old fixes for patch 1.25 but also new additional updates/fixes. Please read the full patch notes below.

PATCH NOTES

Game improvements
  • Added wakes to Mallard Ducks when swimming
  • Fixed issue that would make rare Mallard Duck variations appear too often
  • Adjusted amount of Mallard Ducks that gather at the same area on the same lake
  • Fixed issue with Mallard Ducks circling in air
  • Expanded the total size of the mallard need zones - mallards will land, rest, and feed at more areas throughout the reserve
  • 20G SA Nordin is now correctly tied to the “Duck and Cover” DLC
If you have bought this shotgun previously but do not own the DLC, the weapon will disappear from your inventory.
  • Added maximum amount of waterfowl blinds per reserve (16)

  • Fixed an issue where the splash effect of Ducks falling into water would sometimes not play
  • Removed Waterfowl Testing Blind

Hello Hunters!

As many of you know we are currently experiencing issues with callers not working as they should. Our original goal was to have this hotfixed yesterday/today, but after we’ve dug into the issue further we aren’t able to reach that deadline without the potential to introduce further problems. It’s great to react fast when possible, but reacting fast is always very risky as it comes at the expense of proper testing. With this in mind we will performing a rollback to Patch 1.24. This means all patch 1.25 changes will be reverted, but will be reintroduced again, without the caller issues, at a later date (next week).

We felt this was the best solution so you could all enjoy the game over the weekend to the best quality. Unfortunately a few issues with the ducks that were fixed with 1.25 will be back, but in return calling now works in every reserve for every animal, as it should. We felt this was a smart exchange. This rollback will happen within the next hour or so, you should see an update in Steam as normal.

Wait for more news next week when we post the improved version of 1.25, this time with calling! ;)

Thanks!

Hello Hunters!

We communicated yesterday that we intended to perform a hotfix today to rectify the current issues with callers. It will in fact need a little more time than forseen to ensure that our fix works correctly, so therefore the release has been pushed back slightly.

Current goal is that we get this update to you tomorrow. If for any reason this is not possible then we will rollback our earlier patch so that you can have full functionality of callers whilst we work on a permanent solution.

Thanks for your patience!

Hello hunters!

We have received reports of an issue that is affecting the use of callers since our latest PC patch, 1.25. We are aware of the issue and are working on a hotfix that will be available tomorrow, this will restore full functionality to callers. Thank you for your patience and feedback.

Hey Hunters,

we just released a new patch to address issues related to the just released Mallard Duck and equipment.

You can find the complete changelog below as usual.

We continue our work and hear your feedback regarding issues like picking up decoys while confirming harvests, sounds of waterfowl blinds zipping up and others.
Rest assured that we are also looking into other bugs and issues that are not related to Mallard Ducks.

Have a look at the changes below, test them out in-game and as always, let us know what you think.

Happy Hunting!
