After months of hard work we have some great news to bring out to you! The team has been working on a reserve that we know has been requested from theHunter community for a long time. With that being said, we are excited to announce our first African hunting reserve: Vurhonga Savanna!
Having served as a warden in Layton Lake, Hirschfelden and Medved Taiga - you now return to East Africa at the request of your grandfather, Njabulo Tshabangu, senior warden of Vurhonga Savanna. While you have been away, poachers have forced threatened species like the rhino, elephant and lion to be transferred to a safer location. Their absence has shocked the ecosystem and been lead to disease outbreaks, harming the remaining species. It's up to you to use your unique skills as a hunter to do what you can to bring balance back to the ecology.
List of current species in Vurhonga Savanna: - Blue Wildebeest - Cape Buffalo - Lesser Kudu - Scrub Hare - Side-striped Jackal - Springbok - Warthog
It's that time of the year again, the Steam Summer Sale! This year we are bringing you 33% off the base game, and 25% off all DLC (Wild Goose Chase Gear excluded). Here are all of the deals below:
We just released a new patch that addresses the following:
Improvements to Geese getting stuck This patch will not solve all issues related to this topic and we continue our work.
Keymapping saves correctly again.
Geese no longer suddenly appear out of the ground and fly away.
Geese now die correctly and in sync in multiplayer.
20G and 12G Birdshot effectiveness has been increased. Recommended range is still 20 - 35 meters. We don’t recommend firing at Geese further away than 60 meters.
Layout blind now features 360° limitless rotation with a narrower exit angle at 180°.
Spooking radius when popping out of the Layout blind has been reduced to 10 meters.
You will no longer spook Geese that are further away than 10 meters, which will allow you to better scout the situation and line up your first shot.
Downed Geese now correctly display a highlight (between 40 meters and 6 meters).
Various crash fixes.
Again, we want to thank you for your patience and consistent reporting which helped us tremendously in addressing these issues swiftly.
Let us know what you think about these changes and how they feel in-game. We are looking forward to reading your feedback.
Thank you very much for your patience during the last couple of days! We are currently working on another patch that’s due to be released early next week.
The upcoming patch will address the issues with keymappings, crashes, Geese getting stuck, Geese synchronizing health and death correctly in multiplayer, Geese appearing out of the ground and fleeing, allow 360° rotation in a layoutblind, a tighter exit angle on layoutblinds, a smaller spook radius when popping out of the layoutblind and more.
We are also looking at birdshot ammunition and are considering a rebalance based on your feedback (however, do keep the recommended range for shotguns in mind).
We are constantly monitoring the reports that you are submitting in the Steam forums and various social channels and will continue to address them. Thank you very much for posting there, as it helps us to collect vital information, verify and follow up.
Stay tuned for more updates and, again, we really appreciate all your feedback!
We’ve just released a new patch and it addresses more crash fixes as well as the issue of not being able to place decoys.
We noticed spamming messages from Hunt Club and have done a full restart of the service. This should fix the spam and we will monitor it further. The downtime is expected to be 5 - 10 minutes. Your actions during this time should still count for Hunt Club activities as long as you are logged in.
We continue to work on issues related to Geese behaviour. This includes synchronizing health via network, Geese getting stuck and more. Additional crash fixes and the solution for key mappings not saving correctly is on the way too and should be available in the next patch.
Let us know how the patch works for you and stay tuned for more info on what’s coming next.
Before anything else we want to start this update by saying - thank you for playing theHunter: Call of the Wild, for your ongoing support, for sending in bug reports, for giving feedback and for openly talking about the pros and the cons of our game - it’s all of great help to us, not just in the present but also going forward, as we continue to build and expand upon our hunting universe.
Yesterday’s release was not on par with yours, or our, expectations so we wanted to give you an update on what we are currently doing.
A new patch has been released to address crash fixes. This patch will not fix all crash issues but should be a step in the right direction.
Stability and fixing the crashes is our top priority now. Additional things that are still in the works are the issue regarding not being able to place decoys (it is is related to what reserve that is being loaded first), also work regarding Geese getting stuck is progressing.
It is hard to estimate exactly when the fixes for these two issues will be available but we are doing everything in our power to target a release before the weekend. We will keep you updated on the progress!
If you are experiencing the problem of not being able to place decoys, a restart of your game (Exit to Desktop) and/or a restart of your computer has helped some people. If you have more information or questions regarding this, we recommend you check this thread. https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/0/1696049513784910216/
Placing 20 decoys per interest area will give you very good chances of breaking a flock. Dismantling decoys to have less in the world has helped people with performance.
And finally don’t forget to update your drivers as some performance issues might stem for them being outdated.
Our work continues and we will have another update with progress for you tomorrow.
The first flying animal of theHunter: Call of the Wild, the Canada Goose, has arrived!
The newest addition to theHunter: Call of the Wild’s animal family brings a new and exciting hunting experience to the game. Jump into Hirschfelden and scout the skies for skeins (flocks) of Geese in their typical V-formation. Once you spot a flock, get out of sight and then use the new Canada Goose Short Reed caller to make them break formation and lure them to the ground. As always in hunting, patience is a virtue, so take your time and let them come close. If you manage to stay undetected, the Geese will land around you. Landing and take off, should you spook them after they have landed, are the prime opportunities to take a shot. . We do not recommend shooting geese high up in the air as this will spook the flock and most likely won’t hit the bird.
Alternatively, a new Layout blind and Canada Goose decoys allow you to set up the perfect hunting spot. The corn and straw fields are highly recommended as geese avoid landing in forests. The decoys, available in 3 different variations, increase your chances of successfully luring Geese to come to the ground while the layout blind offers better camouflage, overwatching the field. This allows you to lure down geese close to you, pop out of the blind and take aim.
However you choose to hunt geese, the new Strecker SXS 20G Shotgun, loaded with birdshot (also offers buck and slug) is a safe bet for ethical and high scoring hunting. The gun comes in four different variations. We hope you like it!
The Canada Goose and Canada Goose Short Reed caller are available for free with this update. The Strecker SXS 20G, Layout blind and Decoys are included in the new “Wild Goose Chase Gear” DLC. Upon purchase you will receive 5 of each decoy variation and one layout blind in the in-game storage, while the new gun along with the new ammunition is then unlocked in the in-game shop (no further cost).
Your feedback is crucial to us. You have been asking for bird hunting for a long time and today marks the beginning. We hope you are happy with the result and rest assured that we will take in your feedback and continue the work, not only on geese but on much more!
We addressed issues regarding placeable items and the beaver and hope that this improves the current situation, please let us know if you still encounter this issue!
Thank you for your ongoing support and happy hunting!
