During the last few months, we’ve been hard at work on integrations of our branches, which will allow for faster development and releases of new content in the future. While this is going to improve the experience for all players, our push to get it done has also meant a recent break in our continuous rollout of PC patches.
With this work mostly done, we are now aiming to once again pick up the pace with more frequent PC updates. This patch will lay down the groundwork for everything that is on the horizon.
This first update mainly focuses on changes “under the hood” in order to get ready for the next updates, including the previously announced Jackrabbit. That being said, some issues will be addressed in this patch already. Animal teleportation has been a big focus for us, and this patch aims to solve the “zipping” of animals. We will continue our work on areas that affect this unwanted animal behavior and aim to have more updates going forward.
All outposts now feature interiors and can thus be entered. This was already possible in Medved-Taiga and is now also available in Layton Lake and Hirschfelden. Enjoy those cozy log cabins!
This update also takes in improvements for user interface that have only been available on the console version so far.
Last but not least we invite everyone to celebrate the Lantern Festival with us on March 2. The Lantern Festival marks the end of the Chinese New Year spring festival period and is traditionally celebrated with family, friends, and of course, lanterns! For a limited time, you can find decorations at every outpost in the game, and we wish everybody good fortune!
As always you can find all changes below and do let us know your feedback!
Tents are appearing in the wrong locations in-game (too high/in the ground). We are currently working on a hotfix to address that, apologies for the inconvenience caused.
For the Chinese localized version of the client text is displaying incorrectly, this too is currently being addressed.
As a part of Lantern Festival celebrations statues and lanterns can be found in the reserve. Limited time.
All Outposts now feature interiors that can be entered to rest

With a final harvest total of 106,949 vs 93,556, the community have crowned LAYTON LAKE DISTRICT as the community favorite!
As promised, we’re ending this week on a high note and announcing some exciting upcoming content for Layton Lake District, namely the Jackrabbit! This most recent inhabitant of our Pacific Northwestern reserve is bigger than its distant cousin, the rabbit you know (and hopefully love) from Hirschfelden, it has a completely unique set of new animations and most importantly – it’s fully huntable and harvestable!
The Jackrabbit will be released into Layton Lake District as a FREE update for all platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4), with the release date to be announced shortly. But, you might ask, with which weapon do I successfully hunt the Jackrabbit? More on that, and some other goodies, coming up soon.
We have a bit more news to share today. PC users, please keep your eyes peeled for a small quality of life (bug fix) patch next week. In the console world, we are of course still hard at work to bring you Medved-Taiga (paid DLC) and the accompanying free game update.
Great work from everybody taking part in the competition, and congrats to Team Layton Lake! Don’t be sad though Team Hirschfelden, we’ll surely have something fun for you at a later date. ;)
