Tropico for iPhone out now alongside updates for iPad version
Strategy gaming specialists Kalypso Media and developers Feral Interactive have today announced that Tropico, a full-featured premium port for iOS devices based on the classic PC release of Tropico 3, is available now on iPhone from the App Store.
Fully optimised for iPhone, Tropico features intuitive touch controls and an easy-to-navigate user interface that make it smooth and simple for players to lead their proud island nation into a glorious future, one tap at a time. It is also a universal app, meaning that players who have previously purchased the game on iPad will be able to install it on their iPhone at no additional cost, and transfer their save file.
We are releasing a small update this week that is mostly intended to solve some crashing issues. However, the Tropican Department of Adequate Generosity also managed to add in a few gameplay fixes and improvements to round out the update and guarantee citizens’ satisfaction (or else).
Rest assured that we are still focused on working on the multiplayer savegames feature. In the past weeks since launch we have made good progress on it, but we will require a bit more time to have it ready to share with you. Thank you for your patience.
We hope you enjoy this update and have a very Tropican Easter holiday. Thank you for your ongoing support!
Viva Tropico! Viva El Presidente!

Known Issues
Technical Issues:
We are aware that some users who have Asus Aura drivers installed experience crashes either on startup or during gameplay.
We are working on tracking down what is causing these crashes and to offer a solution as soon as possible.
In the meantime, if you are experiencing crashes, please check if you have Asus Aura drivers installed and if uninstalling them solves the issues for you.
The game can crash if players attempt to resize their window during a loading screen
Linux: Random crashes on startup can occur
The achievement “Terraformer” does not unlock correctly
The achievement “Been there, Done That” does not unlock correctly
Presentation Issues:
El Presidente can be shown walking sideways and there can be issues with election speeches, e.g. El Presidente facing in the wrong direction.
Empty shacks can quickly appear and disappear on the map.
Gameplay Issues:
RMG: Entering invalid Seeds or Share Codes can lead to flawed RMG maps.
The pathfinding and spawning of rebels during Guerilla attacks can be flawed.
Loading a savegame can lead to a change in the player’s support rating.
Market Manipulation trade routes for import are more efficient than intended. This will be adjusted in a future patch.
The metro upgrade for the airport causes Tropicans and tourists to get stuck.
Loading a savegame will solve the problem shortly. Therefore, we recommend to not purchase the upgrade and build a regular Metro Station instead.
Multiplayer:
Raids are displayed in the overview tab for clients, even if they are completed.
Clients can see the host’s palace construction info.
4-player matches are sometimes not as stable/well-performing as 2- and 3-player matches.
We’ve been overwhelmed by your amazing feedback and support since the release of Tropico 6. In fact, there were reports that even El Presidente shed a single, proud tear, proving once and for all that our beloved head of state is actually human after all. As a side note, the tear is now being analyzed in the National Research Lab of Tropico to investigate claims that it is the source of everlasting life.
Anyway, today we’re thrilled to share our first big update with you, which addresses a couple of crashes and introduces lots of bug fixes for both minor and major gameplay issues.
We know that there are many of you that are waiting for multiplayer savegames to be enabled. We are working on this as our highest priority, but it’s not quite ready yet so unfortunately this update will not include this feature. We kindly ask you for your patience and hope that you enjoy the singleplayer content in the meantime.
As for overall balancing, we have deliberately decided against making balancing changes at this point because the game is still so fresh. Of course, we are always reading your feedback and know that there are some of you that find certain aspects of the game either too easy or too difficult. We want to make smart balancing adjustments, so we are going to continue collecting your feedback for a little longer before we commit to significant and lasting changes.
We hope you enjoy this update and thank you for your continued support!
