Citadel: Forged with Fire - Community Manager - Denis
It’s patch day, which means the Marble Structure Pack is finally here! This new addition adds a full set of entirely new structure pieces to Citadel, allowing you more creative flexibility in building elaborate and complex castles! This new high level set includes pristine marble walls, floors, roofs, windows, doors and much, much more. Get to level 45, unlock the new set, and begin crafting your masterpiece!
The fantastic Marble Set isn’t the only noteworthy thing in this week’s patch. We’ve also made a bunch of tweaks and fixes to the game to improve the gameplay experience and eliminate exploits. Storage chests now lock properly depending on if you’re in a PVP or PVE server. You can now rebind the perspective toggle button. You can also no longer use mounts to clip into someone’s base while dismounting.
One small note for today’s patch: If you saw our Patch Preview yesterday, you saw we promised a fix for the disappearing tames and a rebalance of the Stone and Wood Transmuters. Due to some unfortunate last minute issues with the testing of these fixes, we will be slightly delaying their release. A hotfix will be deployed tomorrow morning to implement these fixes. Apologies for the slight delay!
In addition to the above, we’ve also made a ton of smaller quality of life changes. As always, the full details are listed below! See you in Ignus!

Marble Build Contest
Coming tomorrow is the first major addition to our structure system: The Marble Structure Set! To celebrate our first new major structure system content, we'll be hosting a Marble Castle building contest. We challenge you, once the update is out, to create the most impressive Marble structure you possibly can!
To enter, submit your entries in the form of screenshots or video on Twitter, Facebook or in the new contest entry Steam sub-forum!. Contest period runs from Thursday, September 7th at 12pm EST to Friday, September 15th at 12pm EST.
Five winners will be selected by popular vote among Blue Isle Studios employees and will be announced during a livestream on Tuesday, September 19th at 4pm EST. Winners will receive:
First Prize (One Winner) – $100 Amazon Gift Card
Second Prize (One Winner) – $75 Amazon Gift Card
Third Prize (Three Winners) – $25 Amazon Gift Card
The Marble Set
This new high-level set of building pieces offers a clean, palatial alternative to the brooding, gothic aesthetic of the Ornate Set.
The Marble Set is unlocked at level 45, just like the Ornate Set, and requires the use of repurposed Stone to be built. Some of the more lavish pieces, like doors and windows, may also require the use of Iron and Gold Ingots in their construction.
This new set offers the complete range of building pieces including walls, floors, roofs, windows, doors, stairs and much more! Not only that, but you can mix and match the pieces with the other existing sets to create appealing combinations. The Marble Set mixed with the Ornate Set, for example, provides a stunning contrast of a flat, clean white accented by shining metallic gold.
Disappearing Tames Fix
Many players have reported returning after updating their client to find that their precious dragons, unicorns and demons were no longer waiting for them. With tomorrow's patch, this should no longer be the case. Tamed creatures will now properly position themselves where you left them once the server went down so you can safely return to exploring and adventuring with them.
UPDATE: Due to some last minute issues with the testing of this fix, we will be saving it for a hotfix to shortly follow tomorrow morning's patch. Apologies for the minor delay!
Much More
As always, there will be a few smaller tweaks and fixes in tomorrow's patch. Players can now delete their created world from within the Create Game menu, NPCs have been given a tweak to give up their chase if they fail to hit you with a certain number of attacks, and we've fixed an exploit that allowed players to dismount a tame through a base's wall. Stay tuned for full patch notes tomorrow!

New Content: Divine Unicorn & Tempered Iron Armor
We added two new pieces of content in this Wednesday's patch! In case you missed our patch preview post, here are the details of what's been added:
Divine Unicorn Long thought to be driven to extinction by the twisted dark magic that birthed its corrupted brethren, the Divine Unicorn has reemerged across Ignus. While the common Unicorns embody dark energy and corrupt magic, the Divine Unicorn is pure, and radiates with divine light.
Like its counterparts, the Divine Unicorn is extremely uncommon. Its blood – which can be used to concot powerful potions and is used in imbuing high level magic weaponry – makes it a particularly appealing target for hunters. If you should see one, attack before it flees!
Tempered Iron Armor The Tempered Iron Armor set is the next set in the Iron path of armors. Like the lower tier Iron Armor, the Tempered set is covered in dense, heavy metal plating from top to bottom, providing the wearer with a superior defense. This set possesses a high base defense stat, and will endure a heavy beating with minimal wear and tear!
No armor is perfect, and the Tempered set is no exception; this set does have a few flaws. For one, it requires a significant amount of resources to craft, which can make acquiring a full set quite the undertaking. Additionally, because of its thick, heavy nature, this set can be quite a burden. You'll want to make sure you've spent plenty of Character Points on Carrying Capacity if you'll want to wear this set with room to spare for potions, trinkets and loot!
Bug Fixes, Balance Tweaks, Optimizations
We've put out multiple server optimization patches this week. Servers are now much better at managing and loading extreme structures, which has helped them stay up consistently and crash with significantly less frequency.
We also fixed a serious bug with the Deconstructor, which frustrated many community members. Previously, the Deconstructor would sometimes destroy the wrong items when a player would try to engage with it. This should now be resolved. Feel free to keep all your possessions with you when breaking things down!
For a full list of changes from this week's patches, check out our patch notes here, here and here!
Trading Cards Added!
We've also added trading cards to the game! Now as you play Citadel you'll earn trading cards which can be used to unlock unique Citadel badges as well as some spiffy Steam emoticons and backgrounds!
Community Content
Wow! What a week its been for amazing structures. You guys have truly outdone yourselves. From ornate temples to freakin' pirate ships, the community creations you guys have displayed have been mindblowing! Let's take a quick look at a few of our favorites:
Erodiel's determined to pillage and plunder the seas surrounding Ignus with this extremely impressive pirate ship structure!
Mr.Huang has taken our ornate set and used it to create these impressive and extremely convincing golden temples!
Titanium's sprawling castle compound is wonderful! The stone walls are adorned with the ornate trim to give it a sturdy-yet-regal aesthetic.
Laggytoes' kingdom is so perfectly integrated with the mountainside that it almost looks like it was meant to be there.

Structure-Related Server Fixes
To further improve the performance of our servers we’re putting out another quick patch. This fix should significantly improve server performance for servers that have struggled under the strain of multiple extreme and complex structures. We’ve implemented a change to how our server loads in and manages their pieces, which should help reduce the frequency of server crashes and outages.
Steam Trading Cards
Additionally, we’ve also added trading cards to the game! Now as you play Citadel you'll earn trading cards which can be used to unlock unique Citadel badges as well as some spiffy Steam emoticons and backgrounds!
As always, please make sure to update your game client and give the official servers a chance to update. Enjoy the server optimizations and cards, and we'll see you in Ignus soon!

It’s patch day! We’re putting out another big patch today with two brand new pieces of content: The majestic Divine Unicorn and the battle-ready Tempered Iron Armor. Additionally, we’ve made a number of important bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and performance optimizations.
We’ve put together another fix for out servers that should hopefully bring some of our non-functional worlds back online. The issue is related to the extreme structure load some servers possess, and we’re working to keep up with the increasing strain. That said, this fix should do a lot of good to fix this problem, and we should have another pretty significant fix ready to address this issue later this week.
We’ve also fixed up a bug that caused the Deconstructor to destroy the incorrect items by mistake, which caused frustration for a number of players in the community. Now, any item you drop into the Deconstructor will be the item it disassembles for resources.
We’ve also made a variety of smaller fixes. UI improvements and fixes for 4:3 resolution monitors, new measures to prevent the construction of thrones and other magic structures under water, destroyed storage chests will now drop their loot in loot bags, and much more! As always, take a look below for the full notes, and we hope to see you in Ignus again soon!
