Message from the team

Behind the scenes

A lot of iteration went into getting the details just right, because Safety Mole deserves it.

(There's actually much more...it just wouldn't fit into a gif!)

Thank you again for playing and supporting Legion TD 2. We hope you'll enjoy the plushie and the in-game goodies that come with it!

-The AutoAttack Games Team

Some FAQ

To answer a few questions that have come up:

Q: If I buy multiple plushies in the same order, do I get multiple copies of the rewards?
A: Yes!

Q: How will the rewards be delivered?
A: The DLC will come as a Steam key, and the in-game rewards will come as coupon codes that you'll enter in-game. You can even use both codes on the same account if you really wanted to. All rewards will be delivered via email.

Q: When will the rewards be delivered?
A: At the end of the campaign (after November 25th). It will probably take a day or two to process everything.

Desert Ridge

Introducing the long-awaited second campaign, launching December 1st!

Like the first campaign included in the base game, Desert Ridge is playable with 1-4 players. It consists of 7 unique opponents, each increasing in difficulty. Among others, you'll face off against PennyTV - a British streamer who forces you to play T1-only builds, Bonny Flay - a salty chef who gives "balance advice" to the devs, and receives some "hotfixes" as a result, and Crashton - a high-octane goblin who pushes too many workers, but always seems to get away with it.

Desert Ridge will be made available via a DLC costing $8.99 on December 1st, 2022. Only one member of the party needs to own it to play. Early access is granted for all players who order the Limited Edition Safety Mole Plushie (details above).

More info: Legion TD 2 - Desert Ridge Campaign

Why a DLC?
Legion TD 2 takes time and money to develop and keep the servers online. Periodically releasing DLC's ensures that the dev team can continue to pump out monthly patches with new units, new features, balance tweaks, quality of life improvements, and bug fixes, all free of charge. Supporting the dev team with your purchase also ensures the game can continue running for many years to come, without any subscription fees.

As an additional thank-you, after beating the campaign on Normal difficulty, you will automatically unlock the exclusive Afterburner Doomsday Machine skin!

Closing Remarks

We're really excited for you to enjoy both the Safety Mole Plushie and the Desert Ridge campaign. They've both been in the works for a long time, but we didn't want to release them until they were ready.

As players, we wish the plushie price could be lower, but the price is set by the manufacturer, which we have no control over. We hope the in-game rewards make it still a sweet deal. And again, your financial support goes fully towards the game's continued development.

Thank you again for supporting the game we love!

Sincerely,
Lisk, on behalf of the AutoAttack Games Team

P.S. Game is on sale for 25% off. Tell your friends :)

Skin Competition

Last month was a special month, which featured Pennywise's Legion TD 2 Community Skin Competition. 16 entries made it through to the finals, and voting is NOW OPEN! The top voted skin will be designed & officially added to the game!

Please vote for your favorite skins! Seriously, please vote, so we don't get stuck having to make Pennywise's balloon skin.

This Month
The upcoming October Nova Cup takes place October 29-30.

$750 in cash prizes and sign-up is free - first come first served!
There are four skill divisions, so no matter what your rating is, you have a chance to win.
Participation prize: Every participant who plays all of their matches will receive a FREE random card. If you haven't played a tournament yet, this is a great time to join.

Sign-up Instructions
  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until October 29 at 9am PDT / 6pm CEST.
  • To sign up, find a teammate and log into Legion TD 2. Both players should join a unique chat lobby by typing /join team name (e.g. /join Snail Kings) in Global Chat. After you're both in the lobby, have one player type /signup.
  • The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. {LINK REMOVED} to see your sign-up position and division.
  • If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
  • Both players must join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Make sure to set your server nickname to match your in-game name.
Solo Sign-ups
Like last month, you may now sign up as a solo player!
  • You may sign-up as a solo player using the usual /signup command, and you will be added to the public Teams list as usual
  • If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
  • If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
  • After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.
It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.

Schedule

Saturday, October 29
  • Check-in window: 8:45 - 9:15am PDT / 5:45 - 6:15pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PDT / 7 - 10:30pm CEST
    • Round of 16 (Best of 3)
    • Quarter-finals (Best of 3)
Sunday, October 30
  • Check-in window: 9 - 9:30am PDT / 5 - 5:30pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PDT / 6 - 9:30pm CET (Note the time change!!!)
    • Semi-finals (Best of 3)
    • Final (Best of 5)
Check-in
  • Teams must check in via the Legion TD 2 Official Tournaments Discord. Waitlisted teams should also check in.
  • Any team that fails to check in will be disqualified. The next team on the waitlist that checked in will earn a spot.

Format

All Divisions
  • Mastermind 2v2 (Tournament Mode)
  • Hybrid is banned
  • Single elimination
  • Best of 3. Best of 5 final

Division 1 Only: Conquest Format

After winning a match using a particular Mastermind option, you can no longer use that Mastermind option for the rest of that series.
  • For example, if you win game 1 with Greed, you can't pick Greed the rest of the series.
  • The restriction applies to players individually; if your ally picks Greed, but you picked Yolo, you can still pick Greed next game, but your ally can't.
  • The restriction only applies to the winning players. If you lose the game, you can still pick the same options next game.
  • If you violate this rule and your opponent reports it, the game will be counted as an automatic loss for your team. Because this is a new rule, please show good sportsmanship and remind each other before starting the game.
The goal of the Conquest Format is to force the winning team to be able to win with a variety of playstyles, which leads to more varied matches. It also gives the losing team a little bit of help for the rest of the series. Credits to Pennywise#8456 and Shadowings#1413 for this format!

Final Remarks

See the Nova Cup FAQ for prizes and additional rules.

For questions & support, please join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord.

Sincerely,
Your Legion TD 2 Tournament Staff

P.S. Get hyped for next week's announcement on October 28th. We'll be revealing the all-new Desert Ridge singleplayer/co-op campaign as well as the Safety Mole Plushie!

Oct 6, 2022
Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense - AutoAttackGames

Expected patch release: October 10-12

News & Updates
- Submit your entry to Pennywise's Skin Design Competition by Oct 17 to have a chance at having YOUR skin design added to the game! Voting begins Oct 21.
- Mark your calendars for the next Nova Cup: Oct 29-30. Sign-ups will open Oct 21.
- If you missed it, check out my (Lisk's) Reddit AMA from last month! I've been doing these every major patch, so keep an eye out next week for the next one.

Halloween Map Decorations & Skins!

We wanted to do something spooky this year to celebrate 1 year since Legion TD 2's full release last October.

New Halloween Map Decorations
New Skin: Haunted Devilfish
New Skin: Trick-or-Treat Witch

Screenshots

Halloween decorations will be enabled for a month. You can toggle them in Options.

Queuing System Overhaul

If you miss income, you can no longer blame the queuing system.
  • Fixed all issues where queuing mercenaries would be either sent too early or too late. Now they will always be sent just before income and just before mercenaries are warped.
  • Fixed a bug where the king upgrades queue would mistakenly be cleared at the start of the build phase
  • Fixed a bug where queuing mercenaries would accidentally hire the mercenary instantly on wave 1 and 21+
This involved a significant system rewrite so it had been put off for a while. However, thanks to continued feedback via bug reports and reddit, we were able to prioritize it for this patch!

Pause UI Button

Added a UI button for pause/unpause (in Custom games, Play vs. AI, and Campaign).

We received feedback that new players were unaware of being able to pause the game, or that it was just too much of a hassle. This should make it much easier to play the game at your own pace!

Improvements & Fixes

Fixes
  • Bots are now smarter about using Chloropixie, Sakura, Grarl, Bone Crusher, and Fire Archer
  • Building: Fixed a rare bug where certain ground clicks/building placements didn’t register, even though the square was buildable
  • Soul Gate & Hell Gate: Fixed a bug where enemies would sometimes run past the summoned unit if the gate was the last unit alive in your lane before you leaked
  • Guardian Angel: Fixed a bug where some fighters would be slow to autocast their abilities after reviving and being at max mana
  • Menus: Fixed a bug where the back button would temporarily break after using the Card Trader just before finding a match
  • HUD: Fixed a bug with 4K resolution where the mythium hover tooltip was blocked by other text
  • Sandbox: Fixed a bug where spawning -wave 0 (empty wave) didn’t allow you to -clear the wave if there were no mercenaries sent
  • Lock-In: Now properly displays a chat message to your allies as soon as you pick it
  • Campaign: Fixed a bug where some opponent dialogue didn’t play after using Restart
  • Reroll: Fixed a bug where you couldn’t upgrade the king if you were in the middle of picking a roll
Localization & API
  • Localization: Various formatting fixes and some missing fields added
  • Join the Legion TD 2 Contributors Discord to stay up-to-date with Localization & API development! Even if you're not a dev, you can join to check out in-development projects such as paintsniffer's LTDMeta app, a successor to LTDDB that lists builds that hold a particular wave & send.
Game Balance

This patch’s balance goals:
- Nerf long saving mythium and one-shotting the king. Encourage smaller scale attacks.
- Nerf cheap unit spam. Buff upgrades.
- Diversify the meta with wave rebalancing and king adjustments.

General

Power Score
- When players save mythium, the enemy team is now less likely to go on fire.

Leaking
- Leaking now rewards more gold to the opposing team, especially in the late game. Waves 1 to 21: 25% to 151% → 25% to 179%

These changes nerf long saving mythium and buff undercuts, solo sends, and smaller breaks.

King
- Giant Slayer: 22% → 24%

Mastermind Playstyles

Cash Out
- Bonus starting gold: 23 → 22

As players have learned Cash Out openings, it’s surpassed Greed as the strongest and default playstyle.

Legion Spells

Sorcerer
- Ability damage increase: 55% → 57.5%

Low win rate and pick rate.

Fighters

Sakura
- Attack speed: 1.12 → 1.14

Low win rate and indirectly nerfed by wave changes.

Slime Larva
- Health: 360 → 330
- Mini Slime: Health: 140 --> 130

Slime Siren
- Attack speed: 1.23 → 1.35
- Mana gain on attack increased by 33%

Shifting power from Slime Larva to Slime Siren and making it easier for Siren to reach max mana.

Kingpin
- Health: 4830 → 4750

High win rate and indirectly buffed by wave changes.

Zeus
- Attack speed: 2.33 → 2.44
- Synergy with mana effects decreased by 20%

Harpy
- Attack speed: 1.52 → 1.49

Sky Queen
- Damage: 58 → 57
- Attack speed: 1.52 → 1.49

High win rate and indirectly buffed by wave changes.

Windhawk
- Attack speed: 1.23 → 1.22

Solo Windhawk now consistently leaks on wave 1 again.

Violet
- Lightning Strike: Damage: 120 + 0.1% (0.05% to bosses) max health → 80 + 0.15% max health
- Mana regeneration increased by 64%
- Synergy with mana effects adjusted to be similarly powerful

Shifting power from Windhawk to Violet and increasing Violet’s late game viability.

Sea Serpent
- Health: 600 → 620

- Health: 1840 → 1890

Low win rate and pick rate.

Gatling Gun / Vulcan Cannon
- Attack speed: 2 → 2.04

Low win rate and pick rate. The buff is conservative because Gatling Gun and Vulcan Cannon are indirectly buffed by wave changes.

Soul Gate
- Spawn health and attack speed decreased by 3%

Hell Gate
- Spawn attack speed decreased by 1%
- Building health: 5000 → 5200

Slightly high win rate and pick rate.

Holy Avenger
- Damage: 95 → 92
- Synergy with mana effects increased by 40%

Sovereign
- Synergy with mana effects increased by 22%

Hades
- Synergy with mana effects increased by 13%

Mercenaries

Cannoneer
- Damage: 110 → 113

Drake
- Attack speed: 1.042 → 1.075

Lower win rates and usage rates than other high income mercenaries.

Centaur
- Attack speed: 2.33 -> 2.22

High win rate and usage rate and currently oppressive against melee-centric builds.

Waves

Wave 11 (Quill Shooters)
- DPS: 56 → 55
- Damage: 67 → 34
- Attack speed: 0.83 → 1.6

Now less countered by cheap unit spam.

Wave 13 (Drill Golems)
- Attack speed: 1.6 → 1.57

Wave 14 (Killer Slugs)
- Health: 2000 → 2030

Wave 15 (Quadrapuses)
- Quadrapus: DPS: 119 → 115
- Quadrapus: Damage: 95 → 80
- Giant Quadrapus: DPS: 475 → 460
- Giant Quadrapus: Damage: 380 → 320
- Attack speed: 1.25 → 0.72
- New ability: Dual Shot. Attacks up to 2 units at once but can still strike the same unit with both attacks.

Now less countered by cheap unit spam.

Wave 18 (Wale Chiefs)
- Poison-tipped Pole: 130 single-target and 40 splash damage every 3rd attack → 170 single-target and 40 splash damage every 4th attack

Nerfing Wale Chief’s ability, particularly the splash damage. It’s still strong enough to deal with cheap unit spam but now less oppressive overall against melee units.

Wave 20 (Maccabeus)
Grows in size with each kill, so you can see just how fed that boss is marching down to your king.

Something big is coming...

Announcing... the Limited Edition Safety Mole Plushie! Finally, a piece of Legion that you can hold in your hands.

The first 200 people to purchase the plushie will gain early access to the upcoming Desert Ridge singleplayer/co-op campaign. Plus more rewards for all buyers after that!

Full reveal, release date, and more details (including a giveaway contest) on both the plushie and the Desert Ridge campaign are coming in an announcement on October 28th!

Closing Remarks

We hope you enjoy this patch! Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2.

We're super excited about the upcoming Desert Ridge singleplayer/co-op campaign. If you haven't played the first campaign (Crystal Coast) yet, it's not too late to give it a try. Playing a campaign co-op is a great way to introduce the game to a friend, and the Hard modes are challenging even for experienced players. And when it comes out, Desert Ridge will be even more challenging.

If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short review for the game! It really helps get the word out there.

If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!

And as always, if you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord is our main channel of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. We know there's still much to improve, so let's work together.

Until next time!

Sincerely,
Lisk, on behalf of The AutoAttack Games Team

September Nova Cup has wrapped! Last Saturday and Sunday, competitors from a large spread of competitive ranges put their skills to the test to see who can take the winning title.

First, some signup stats.
Total signups (teams): 128
Total signups (solos): 87
Dropout rates (during check-ins before brackets are made): D4 42% -- D3 49% -- D2 33% – D1 0%
Total teams in final brackets: 86

All-in-all, that's 343 players who signed up to participate in the Nova Cup this month, thank you all!

If you missed any of the action and would like to deep dive into it yourself, please check out the links to all tournament footage from all divisions https://beta.legiontd2.com/esports/#panelTournaments.

If you don’t want to watch over 30 hours of tournament footage for a recap, you’re in luck! Here is a recap of each division across both days.

Division 4 (Team Rank Spread 826 - 1544)

Day 1
  • In round two, team Opulence vs Indyscantik, Opulence RELEASED THE KRAKENS for a wave 19 win to move into game 3 of the set where they came out on top this time to move further into the bracket.
  • Also in round two, team Name pending started with a bye move ahead into round 3, where they came out 2-0 vs The Swampy Gooners.
  • Henriksux had a 2-1 game to make it into round 3, falling to team FGS.
  • The Aliens won from round 1, and played well through round 2 to win 2-0, but met their match against Opulence in round 3
Day 2
  • In the semi finals, team Rip fought hard against Opulence, surviving a huge send on 17 bringing their king from 100%-1% but they were not able to overcome the econ advantage and lost game two from another strong send on 19.
  • In grand finals, game two went to wave 21(!) where Opulence won the exchange.
  • Unfortunately due to personal work and time restraints, team Name Pending had to concede after 0-2 giving Opulence the 1st place finish this month. Will we see them battle again next time?

Division 3 (Team Rank Spread 1558-1837)

Day 1
  • Round 1 Potato Poopers vs Snail Lovers, player Chasm of Potato Poopers made a clutch hold on 17 to a large send while ending the game in a 1 hit KO against Snail Lovers to advance
  • Round 1 1Leavers vs eLBee/Panualidades, a player disconnected on wave 6 and never returned, making it our first ever bot game. 1Leavers secured the win to continue on.
  • Round 2 1Leavers vs Schnitzel, 1Leavers invested heavily into a late game build from very early in the game, which paid off by forcing a possible 17 send to win the game for Schnitzel, allowing 1Leavers to end it closer to their terms on wave 16.
  • Round 3 1Leavers vs Darra, Darra put on intense pressure with Giant Snail, sending full snails every wave which left 1Leavers on the back foot, a position they were not able to recover from.

Day 2
  • In grand finals game one, team Ogerlover3000 had a comeback victory on wave 15 with a 100-0% send against Bärserker.
  • In the final game, Henzer from team Bärserker stayed at 6 workers until the final send on 11, showing you don’t *always* need to have the most workers to secure the win.

Division 2 (Team Rank Spread 1832-2296)

Day 1
  • In game two of the set between Benis and L1ra/Evilkenivel, Benis took a big hit on 17 for a win for L1ra and Evilkenivel. In the final game of the set, Benis went for a much more aggressive econ approach and took the win with an impressive rat army from player Item Shop.
  • After a very intense and close match where team Benis very nearly took the set, Flights Broken Back came out with the victory to move into semifinals
  • Team Halo progressed into semifinals largely uncontested

Day 2
  • Team Flights Broken Back made it all the way to grand finals against team Halo, with final score 3-1 in Halo’s favor. Kudos to Flight’s teammate The0point91Joe for such an impressive first run through D2. And congrats to Halo for the clutch victory. Good games!

Division 1 (Team Rank Spread 2376-3088)

Day 1
  • Round 1 Brazilian Carnival vs Doomsday, in game 2 Doomsday started the match off rough but took the win on a huge 12 send for the comeback victory. Doomsday took game 3 as well to proceed in the bracket.
  • Round 2 GreenooB vs B!Square, in game 1 Bonny of B!Square managed to get two Fenix’s to behave on wave 15 and hold both lanes on an attempted send, cementing a large lead that got them the win.
  • Game 2 of the same set between GreenooB and B!Square, GreenooB answers back with a win on 16 in a close game.
  • Game 3 B!Square gets the win to move into day 2 finals, with more great usage of Fenix and a huge worker push to ensure the game ends on 16. Well played to both teams!

Day 2
  • Abrasiert bs B!Square, game one almost ended on 15 for Abrasiert, but after barely surviving, Kingdanzz of Abrasiert suicide pushed workers all the way up to 70(!) for a wave 18 race.
  • Game 2 of the same set, Abrasiert had 2 Divine Blessing picks that were revealed on wave 12 on a Doomsday and Azeria for full holds that cemented a strong lead ending in a 14 win.
  • Game 2 between September 13 and ßutterßoys, a huge trade between both teams came on 13 bringing king HP to 20% or below for both. One player from each team suicide pushed workers, and on 15 FCLucy from September 13 holds their lane for a clutch win.
  • Game 2 between Abrasiert and ßutterßoys, Kingdanzz of Abrasiert hold a 13 send with unique gatling gun positioning using aps and Fenix
  • Game 4 of the same teams, duo Divine Blessing on Doomsday and Azeria on 12 for Abrasiert gets leaked from a huge send including a Kraken(!) radically shifting the pace of the game and ending with a game win for ßutterßoys on wave 14 in a close race. Penny’s heart rate also went above resting for potentially the first time.
  • In the final game, ßutterßoys showcases the power of Lizard Army for a huge send on 12, winning D1 in a reverse sweep! Well played.

Closing Thoughts

Thank you to everyone who participated and signed up for the September Nova Cup! A tremendous thank you to all tournament organizers. Big shout-outs to our newest Nova Cup staff member AmerikanHunay for guiding both new and returning players through brackets throughout the weekend and thank you to SlinkyDinky for work on an automated check-in Discord bot that cut a tremendous amount of work from the usual morning setup for the tournament. We could not have an event to this scale without the help and support from everyone and it is greatly appreciated.

Our end result Division winners this month are:
Division 1: ßutterßoys (XGod37 & Shea)
Division 2: Halo (Valas & Lemon Rush)
Division 3: Bärserker (Guenni99 & Henzer)
Division 4: Opulence (Scarabimi & Daffybow)

Congratulations to all winners!

We hope to see you next month, October 29th-30th for the next Nova Cup!

Legion TD 2 - Multiplayer Tower Defense - AutoAttackGames

Pathing & Targeting PSA
- As a result of the Harpy & Sky Queen fix in v9.08, all units were affected slightly; there were some cases where units would waste time winding up (their attack animation) when they should have already attacked.
- This is most noticeable on Wave 1 where certain openers like Windhawk, Gateguard, or Oathbreaker may hold slightly better than they did in previous patches.
- We’ll continue to keep an eye on it to see if any changes need to be made.

Major Fixes
- Workers: Fixed a very rare bug where a player would receive more mythium from workers than they were supposed to
- Workers: Fixed a longtime bug where players weren’t receiving mythium for a couple seconds when Wave 1 was cleared

Minor Fixes
Fixed a chat bug where certain player names accidentally rendered as emojis

Mini Slime
- Health: 160 → 140
- Damage: 12 → 13

Slime Larva
- Health: 400 → 360
- Damage: 31 → 33

Slime Siren
- Health: 1240 → 1110
- Damage: 59 → 63
- Slime Progatation: Number of Slime Larvas spawned at maximum mana: 2 → 3
- Now takes 20% longer to reach maximum mana
- Fixed an interaction with Guardian Angel where it was accidentally spawning an extra Slime Siren

Shifting power from health to DPS (so their only use isn’t stalling). Also making it more rewarding to reach maximum mana on Slime Siren.

Harpy
- Attack speed: 1.57 → 1.52

Sky Queen
- Attack speed: 1.57 → 1.52
- Damage: 64 → 58

Looks like the bug fix worked :sunglasses: Hotfix nerf to bring these units back to earth.

(14) Killer Slugs
- Health: 1980 → 2000

(15) Giant Quadrapus
- Damage: 96 → 95
- Giant Quadrapus: Damage: 384 → 380

Slightly shifting power from wave 15 to 14.

Major Improvements
  • Interface: You can now queue mercenaries via hotkeys. Default is pressing Shift+A, Shift+S, etc. It is customizable in the Options > Controls menu.
  • Bots: Now a bit smarter in a variety of situations. Bots received some love as part of the development of the upcoming Desert Ridge campaign.
  • Campaign: Shadowynn & King Dan now perform more consistently (overall buff). Added a congratulations popup after you beat King Dan on Normal. Fixed some -restart bugs.
  • Performance: Improved performance when wave starts (there’s more to still be done in future patches)
Minor Improvements
  • Game Coach: No longer warns/bothers you about your Mastermind roll if you picked Yolo
  • Takeover Bots: Now Auto-sends if its allies are all Auto-sending, instead of never Auto-sending at all. This should help Takeover bots not fall behind as much in Classic.
  • Codex: Now rounds “per gold” numbers to 2 decimal places instead of 1
  • New Emojis: "pogchamp" and "tools"
Bug Fixes
  • Gameplay: Fixed a major bug with Harpy and Sky Queen not attacking as fast as their numbers indicated. Some units with Dark Mage buff also didn’t attack as fast as they should have, and the same fix applies to those.
  • Profiles & Stats: Fixed some rare cases where Season Goals or other rewards weren’t given out in some rare circumstances
  • Interface: Fixed a bug where flying units had their selection hitboxes too low. They should be easier to click now.
  • Tooltips: Fixed a bug where Mana Regen percentages for units without natural mana regen were displaying incorrectly
  • Controls: Fixed a bug where Ctrl+Shift/Ctrl+Alt/Alt+Shift modifiers didn’t save/load properly
  • Pause: Fixed a bug where the game would sometimes think you were AFK if pausing the game for a long time
Localization & API
  • Localization: Improved formatting of Google Sheets (word wrap is now enabled!)
  • Localization: Fixed a bug where some translation fields weren’t available on the Google Sheets, such as “Already Equipped”, “Owned”, “Not Available”, “Buy”, and a few others
  • API: Variety of fixes & improvements
  • API: Added valuePerWave property to see player value per wave (including stacks)
  • Join the Legion TD 2 Contributors Discord to stay up-to-date with Localization & API development!
Game Balance

General

King
- Health and damage increased slightly on wave 13 only
- Upgrade King Attack: 17% → 18%

Legion Spells

Hero
- Damage and damage reduction: 5.5% → 5.25%

High win rate and pick rate.

Glacial Touch
- Damage: 50 → 45

High pick rate.

Titan
- Health: 1350 → 1400

Slightly low win rate and pick rate.

Fighters

Zeus
- Attack speed: 2.353 → 2.326

High win rate.

Harpy / Sky Queen
- Fixed a bug where Harpy and Sky Queen were doing significantly less damage than expected at high attack speeds. This bug is the reason previous attack speed buffs had little to no effect.
- Decreased attack speed by 30%. Together with the bug fix, this is still an overall buff, since the previous Harpy/Sky Queen patches didn't do what they were supposed to.
- Sky Queen damage: 70 --> 67

Infiltrator / Orchid
- Shuriken bonus damage: 33 → 35

Gateguard / Harbinger
- Mana regeneration increased by 4%

Desert Pilgrim / Lost Chieftain
- Attack speed: 0.83 → 0.85

Slightly low win rate and pick rate.

Mudman
- Health: 1600 → 1570

Golem
- Health: 4750 → 4700

Slightly high win rate and pick rate.

Grarl
- Health: 1330 → 1310

King Claw
- Mana regeneration increased by 11%

King Claw deserves a buff. To avoid power creep, it is being paired with a small Grarl nerf (above).

Disciple
- Damage: 75 → 73

Slightly high win rate and pick rate.

Sand Badger
- Health: 2460 → 2500
- Damage: 74 → 75

Low win rate.

Iron Scales
- Health: 6680 → 6730
- Damage: 201 → 202

Banana Bunk
- Damage: 70 → 67

High pick rate and indirectly buffed by wave changes (higher attack speed → more reflect damage).

Soul Gate / Hell Gate
- Attack speed of all spawns decreased by 4%

Slightly high win rate and pick rate.

Holy Avenger / Sovereign
- Attack speed: 1.143 → 1.13

Hydra
- Damage: 138 → 144
- Hydraling: Damage: 46 → 48

Low win rate and pick rate.

Mercenaries

Lizard
- Damage: 34 → 35

Fiend
- Health: 920 → 950

Dino
- Health: 1260 → 1300

Cannoneer
- Damage: 105 → 110

Drake
- Attack speed: 1 → 1.04

Snail and Dragon Turtle have been outshining higher income mercenaries most of the time. No longer!

Brute
- Health: 870 → 880
- Damage: 55 → 56

With this patch’s buffs to income mercenaries, Brute is also receiving a very small buff to make sure it continues to be worth the risk (giving up income) in the early game.

Pack Leader
- Leadership Aura: Damage increase: 6 (15 for bosses) → 5 (15 for bosses)

Pack Leader continues to be almost always good and too often the best choice, crowding out other options and outshining more expensive mercenaries in the late game. This change makes Pack Leader weaker in the late game. Wave adjustments (see below) keep Pack Leader viable in the early game.

Waves

Waves 7, 8, 9, 12
- Attack speed: +20%, damage -17% (DPS unchanged)

This change keeps Pack Leader viable on early waves without changing any DPS.

Community Wiki
As announced last patch, the official community Legion TD 2 Wiki launched last month!

The wiki is quickly becoming the definitive source of information about the game.
- Want to know how to strategically use Chloropixies? Check the Chloropixie page!
- Want to know how FairPlay works behind the scenes? Check the FairPlay page!

Awesome job to everyone who has contributed so far and continues to contribute.

The wiki is community written & driven, and anyone can contribute! Join the Legion TD 2 Contributors Discord to chat with other contributors. I (Lisk) am always in there, too.

Closing Remarks

We hope you enjoy this patch! Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2.

We are excited to report that the second campaign, Desert Ridge, is making good progress and is estimated to release at the end of November. Much more info is coming in next month's patch notes (October).

Before that, make sure to catch this month's Nova Cup on Twitch THIS weekend. Check the Legion TD 2 eSports Portal for all info.

Sincerely,
The AutoAttack Games Team

This Month
The upcoming September Nova Cup takes place September 17-18.

  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until September 17 at 9am PDT / 6pm CEST.

Schedule

Saturday, September 17
  • Check-in window: 8:45 - 9:15am PDT / 5:45 - 6:15pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PDT / 7 - 10:30pm CEST
    • Round of 16 (Best of 3)
    • Quarter-finals (Best of 3)
Sunday, September 18
  • Check-in window: 9 - 9:30am PDT / 6 - 6:30pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PDT / 7 - 10:30pm CEST

Expected patch release: August 8-10

News & Updates
If you missed it, check out my (Lisk) Reddit AMA from last month! I'll be doing these every major patch, so keep an eye out next week.

New Major Feature: Legion TD 2 Wiki

We’re proud to present the Legion TD 2 Wiki, a community driven wiki for all things Legion, including individual unit pages for strategy and trivia and pages for systems like pathing & targeting, matchmaking, and FairPlay.

The Wiki is a major work-in-progress, and we need lots of help! Everyone is welcome.

Get started here: https://legiontd2.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Community

Community Contributor badges and 2,800 will be awarded to individuals who make significant contributions to the Wiki.

New Event: Gold Rush!
A new special Gold Rush mode will be active for classic matches only! The event starts as soon as the patch is released, and lasts until August 14th at 8 pm PDT (August 15th at 5 am CEST)

Gold Rush

- All players gain 1-400 gold after each wave (exact formula is WaveNumber^2)
- Worker gather rate is reduced by 3% (to keep games from getting too fed too fast)

New Team Member: Flight_Tv
We’re excited to officially introduce Flight_Tv as the Legion TD 2 Meme Master! He will be managing and creating content for AutoAttack Games’ Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels.

For those of you who don't know Flight, he's been creating Legion videos for years, from Early Access through release. His videos have been instrumental for a lot of people learning the game, and his Twitch channel has been the source of some of the more memorable memes in Legion history. We are thrilled to have him on board and await the memes with bated breath.

New Secret Card: Grumpy Antler

New Skins: Baby Angler

New Skin: Baby Bounty Hunter

Together with Baby Kingpin (already available), the set is now complete!

New Skin: Frozen Throne Doppelganger

Weekly Challenge
- First place reward: 2500 → 5000
- New reward! Finish the week in the top 100 and you'll earn 2000
- You will receive a congratulations Inbox message after each week if you’ve placed in the top 100

Pings

- Added a new thinking bubble to the ping wheel, which will signal that you’re “wondering what to do next…”
- If you ping the thinking bubble, then quickly ping one of the upcoming waves, it will display the “thinking about sending on” message
- Pinging the wave bar (top of the HUD) will now always signal that you're expecting a send on that wave

Improvements & Fixes

Improvements
  • Bottom Bar: Added reddit link & Announcements button (to reopen latest news about the game)
  • Dual Building: In the 4v4 map, you can now ping the dual build area to display a “wants to dual build” message. If your ally pings a thumbs-up or pings the dual build area as well within 3 seconds, you will both receive a confirmation message and the dual building warning tooltip will be disabled. This is a small QoL feature intended to make dual build communication just a bit easier.
  • Attack Target Selection: You can now quickly select a unit’s attack target by right-clicking the unit’s icon. [Example
]
Fixes
  • Fixed a rare bug where restarting a campaign mission just before you lost would cause the game to become unstable
  • Fixed a rare bug where a player’s client would become unresponsive when a backend service provider had a specific outage
Game Balance

General

Ranked Ladder
Players at the top of the ladder who are inactive lose a small amount of rating per week, to avoid camping for Ladder Points:
- Players rated 2800+ lose 20 rating per week after 2 weeks of inactivity
- Players rated 2601-2800 lose 10 rating per week after 2 weeks inactivity
- Players rated 2600 and below are unaffected
For next season (beginning in January), we'll be revamping the design of Ladder Points to further encourage activity.

King
- Giant Slayer: 17% → 20%
- AOE spell damage increased by 10-15%
- Chain Frost and Lightning Hammer: Projectile speed increased to be less vulnerable to mass Froggos, etc.
- Base attack damage decreased by 35%
- Upgrade Attack: 11% → 15%
- Upgrade Spell: 8% → 7%

Pushing last patch’s changes further. The king is now more vulnerable to small leaks and relatively less vulnerable to large leaks.

Legion Spells

Glacial Touch
- Damage: 65 → 50

Still overperforming with the highest pick rate and a solid win rate.

Fighters

Chloropixie
- Health: 600 → 570
- Damage: 44 → 46
- Early Harvest: Mythium gained: 7 → 6

Pushing last patch’s changes further. Rewarding players who keep Chloropixie alive longer, rather than just using her as a sacrificial lamb. This also nerfs Chloropixie spam in Classic.

Buzz / Consort
- Attack speed: 1.01 → 0.99

High win rate.

Harpy / Sky Queen
- Attack speed: 2.04 → 2.15

Low pick rate.

Desert Pilgrim
- Mana regeneration increased by 8%

Slightly low pick rate and win rate.

Head Chef
- Health: 3620 → 3670
- Damage: 124 → 126

Low win rate.

Ocean Templar
- Damage: 180 → 160
- Resonance: Regeneration: 2% → 2.5%

Shifting power into the main identity of this unit: regeneration.

Mudman
- Health: 1640 → 1600

High win rate.

Elite Archer / Trinity Archer
- Attack speed: 1.05 → 1.03

High win rate.

Nightmare
- Health: 1100 → 1140

Low pick rate.

Banana Bunk / Banana Haven
- Attack speed: 1.25 → 1.2

High win rate and pick rate.

Fire Lord / Fenix
- Attack speed: 1.05 → 1.03

High win rate.

Soul Gate / Hell Gate
- Healing and regeneration are now 50% effective on the buildings themselves (still 100% effective on the summons)

Healing effects on Soul Gate and Hell Gate are fun but too strong, especially when playing with one holder who overbuilds. Healers such as Desert Pilgrim are also now less likely to target Soul Gate & Hell Gate.

Mercenaries

Cannoneer
- Damage: 102 → 105

Drake
- Attack speed: 0.97 → 1

These mid cost income mercenaries are overshadowed by power mercenaries and cheap income mercenaries in ranked.

Shaman
- Mana regeneration decreased by 8%

Too much of a must-send on waves 18-21.

Closing Remarks

We hope you enjoy this patch! Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2. Cheers to the 20,000+ new players that have joined through Humble Choice. We hope you're getting the hang of building & sending and have found friends to play the game with.

New units are in the works for next patch in September. We've also made some good progress on the Desert Ridge campaign and are on track to release it later this year!

If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short review for the game! It really helps get the word out there.

If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!
