It's been a while since we've called you in for a close beta. For the next clan, we want you to help us with what's to come! As with the Owl Clan, you will need to fill out a form and join us on Discord, here is all you need to know

Unlike the current beta for the Trade and Prestige Community Update, this one will be closed to some players. You'll have access to an early version of the next clan to give us early feedback, just like the public beta branch!

It's time for the second week of the public beta. This time, we have updated the trade victory to answer your feedback and added something a lot of you have been waiting for a while...The balancing of multiple clans.

Trade victory / Miklagard Faction



We’re happy with the overall direction of the trade-victory rework, but thanks to your feedback we now see it still need some serious adjustments. The victory has been rebalanced to be slower to achieve, and a bit easier to contest. (We’ll keep adjusting the values following new feedback)

You’ve also pointed out the rewards for 15% and 25% prestige were either too strong, or not as interesting as they might have been and so they’ve been reworked to hopefully be more balanced and more interesting to most clans and most plays.

Hounds

As you’ve been many to point out and despite previous nerfs, Hounds Clan is still much stronger than other clans, at least in early game. So that’s what we want to target with this new balancing patch, make the clan units weaker in early game to slow down its clearing and scaling capacity, without touching too much at its power later in the game. (But making it arrive at this peak a bit later, as a consequence)

Owl

Owl is a bit overtuned as well, especially some knowledge, in particular Parasitic Vegetables, so we’re making it a lot less of a powerhouse. In the meantime, Owl, despite some natural advantages for scouting, is almost never used for this in multiplayer settings. To reinforce this we’re adding a scouting bonus with its Fame 200, equivalent to what other clans can achieve by upgrading their scout camp.

Boar seems to be lacking behind in the current meta, and specific clan features like menders play a very little role in the clan gameplay in multiplayer, so we’re giving them a big boost to hopefully turn this around.

Since the previous AI rework, some Conquest Battles, especially 1v3 / 2v6 have become much more difficult / frustrating, than they were originally intended to be, so we’re readjusting the numbers of AI opponents as an adjustment, and to avoid some of them feeling tedious to complete in certain settings.

TEMPORARY GAME MODE
Starting now and for until November 7th, we welcome you back to our spooky special event where you will be able to engage in battle in the terrifying Draugrheim biome.

In this temporary game mode, you will have to conquer your fears in the land of the living dead and face some terrible (eight-legged) creatures roaming the land of Northgard."


If you feel like some of these new creatures have more legs than you can tolerate, you can activate an arachnophobia mode in the options menu.

NEW TEMPORARY TOWN HALL SKIN

Finish a game of Northgard in the new Draugrheim game mode (if you dare) and earn an exclusive Town Hall skin. You can claim it in Expeditions



The southern kingdoms will also have to face the danger of Draugrheim! You will be able to claim their sinister town hall as well!

An open beta will be opened containing the main change regarding Trade & Prestige...The trade victory rework!

The old trade victory



Just like the Wisdom Victory was before, we feel like the Trade Victory is in a frustrating situation right now, for different reasons.

  • It is a very self-centered way to play, and not a very interesting one. All a clan has to do is wait behind their borders, accumulate kröwns, and wait for the numbers to go up.
  • It does not really offer opportunities to opponent players. If they want to make it harder for a player targeting this victory they don’t really have other options apart from eliminating them outright. If they can’t, the clan is basically certain to win.
  • The great trade-route is not that interesting in itself (except for Raven maybe), and so starting to trade with it immediately puts a target on the clans doing it, as this signals a move for victory. So generally most players just avoid it entirely.
  • The reliance on one specific Knowledge (Shipbuilding) means the trade-route is not even an option for you to focus on Trading-posts instead. Making it irrelevant in many games simply due to map generations, clan selected, or else.

The new Trade Victory



The new victory will be linked to the arrival of the rich foreign nation of Miklagard! Here is what to know at this stage:

Miklagard is a faction outside of the game, to win with diplomacy, you'll need to send them krowns and get their favors! But be warned, the diplomatic war extend to other clans, and you'll have to spend a lot of your income to reach victory!

  • The trade with Miklagard can be done via trading post and Docks with the associated knowledge!
  • Specific bonuses/gifts can be gained via trading with them, making this path more rewarding
  • Knowledges and bonuses impact the relations to them like any other routes (Kraken says thank you)
    The goal is to reach 40% of influence toward the faction, and it won't be as easy as waiting in your territory for your influence to grow. you'll have to compete with opposing influences such as:
    • Miklagard itself - The faction start with an initial pool of Influence,
    • The neutral factions - getting rid of them on the map will let you absorb 50% of their influence, the rest fading slowly as time pass
    • Opposing clans - Same as the neutral factions. Get rid of your opponents to take a part of their influence!

As you might have guessed, this is still an early version of the patch. For that reason we only focus on the victory and some functionality might not be entirely functional yet. For that reason we demand you to focus on the specific questions below:

  • Do you find this iteration of the trade-victory more fun to play and interact with than the previous one?
  • Do you see yourself interacting with it more than you did the previous one?
  • What do you think of the rewards offered by the faction? (both gameplay and balance-wise)
  • Do you see yourself playing with it in Pvp settings?
  • Do you see yourself trading with the Miklagard faction even when not directly aiming at a trade-victory?
  • Do you find the current values to be competitive and balanced in Pvp settings? If not why?
Try the feature first and avoid providing feedback based on intuitions or impressions + give us as much details as you can on your play sessions to justify your feedbacks and help us understand your point of view

Hello everyone!

If you are trying to play from Russia, you may have noticed that the mutliplayer button is currently unclickable. Meaning you do not have access to our servers at the moment.
This situation is unfortunately outside of our control and deserves some clarification.

Starting this Friday, our servers could not be reached from Russia. Following a thorough investigation on our end, we can safely determine that the source of the issue is exterior to our infrastructure. We suspect the root cause to be outside of our control. Thanks to the help and comments from our community, we noticed that players could join our servers by using third-party tools, masking their country of origin. As we speak the issue seems to be limited to the Russian territory.

To help us figure out how to solve this issue and asking for your assistance, we have opened a temporary Steam Forum.
