Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Wildlands - UBI-Zuzu
Ghost Recon Wildlands contains many secrets for our players to uncover should they prove themselves cunning and adventurous.

As we explore the Easter Eggs in Wildlands, we consulted with our Lead FX Designer, Mathieu Martinet, to gather insight on a few of his favorites.

Don’t Press Me

We knew the quickest way to get players to press something was to put a giant sign next that said the exact opposite. Mathieu had this to say on including these Easter Eggs:

“In my opinion, the ‘do not press me’ concept allows players to have fun, make choices and share these fun moments.

The idea was to create something unusual and unexpected in the Ghost Recon. When you see that kind of call to action, it’s really natural to be curious, to not follow the rule and see what happens. Unconsciously you know that something special will happen.”

The result may not be exactly what you expect from a large blue button with a sign next to it telling you not to press it. Head to the giant dam in Pucara to kick off your Easter Egg hunt with a bang!

If you like your explosions a little bigger, you’ll find Mathieu’s favorite Easter Egg in the Salt Flats of Koani:

“My favorite [Easter Egg] is the huge explosion in Salt Flats of Koani. This is the essence of the ‘Don’t Press Me’ concept. There’s a lot more elaborate staging on this one in particular, which is why I like it the most.”

The third button can be found on one of the hills in La Cruz. After you press this, don’t panic! You’ll be in for a pleasant surprise as long as you don’t look away.

The final button you definitely shouldn’t press resides in the province of Malca near one of the tallest statues in Wildlands, a tribute to the symbol of El Sueño’s cartel. Your Ghost won’t get scorched, though we can’t say the same for Santa Muerte.

The Chair

We’re heading back to the Salt Flats for one of our favorite Easter Eggs. In the northern part of the Koani region, you’ll find a chair that might look a little out of place in the stark white landscape.

Take the red pill and we’ll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes, Ghosts.

Hidden Statues

Scattered amongst the mountains, in the highest reaches, there are shrines to the goddess Pachamama. Hidden in 8 of these shrines you can find statues of the Earth Mother that you can pick up.

Once you gather all of them, the locals will gather to pay their respects to Pachamama at the shrines where the statues were located.

Mysterious Owl

In Libertad province, you can find many animals native to the area. We encourage you to look up every once and a while, as you might see a very special owl that reacts unexpectedly should you manage to hit it.

It’s time to test your marksmanship, Ghosts!

We hope you’ve enjoyed finding Easter Eggs in Ghost Recon Wildlands and you’re inspired to do some hunting to see them all yourself.

New secrets emerge from the Wildlands frequently, even those that were thought to be nothing more than myths from the unforgiving cold of the Andes mountains. Make sure you stay frosty, Ghosts, some of these legends may prove very real and far more dangerous than what you’ve faced before.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Wildlands - UBI-Zuzu
The world of Ghost Recon Wildlands’ Bolivia is a fascinating one. There is as much beauty and mystery in the legends of Bolivia as there is in the landscapes you can explore throughout the game.

While taking on the Santa Blanca Cartel, you may have picked up Kingslayer Files from the many towns and locations you visited. In some of those, you’ll find more information on your enigmatic quarry, El Sueño, and in others, you’ll find the legends that shape the rich culture of Bolivia.

We asked Eric Simon, Senior Game Designer on Ghost Recon Wildlands, why the team decided to use these legends to inform the setting of Wildlands:

“Bolivia is one of those countries that has splendid landscapes, a long story and a strong culture of its own.

Ghost Recon Wildlands’ Bolivia is a fictional version created to provide a unique gameplay experience. However, we also wanted to give to the players the opportunity to learn more about Bolivia’s history and culture.

This opportunity was our reasoning behind choosing these legends, which represent historical figures, customs, traditions and beliefs coming from Ancient Bolivia.”

Here are some of our favorite legends featured in Ghost Recon Wildlands!

The Worship of Santa Muerte, Origins and Criminal Practice

The worship of Santa Muerte first appeared in the Mexico area during the pre-Columbian era. Natives honored a Death god and its female counterpart to secure their way into the afterlife. During the Spanish era and under Catholic influence, the cult saw the emergence of a female saint known as Santa Muerte.

Though rejected by mainstream churches, it gradually became a popular worship for people looking for protection against misfortunes. Some outlaws and drug traffickers worship her.

They frequently seek her blessing for their ammunition and weapons, or for protection for their illegal activities. The Santa Blanca Cartel uses this iconic figure to strike fear into the hearts of its enemies.

Regarding the legend of Santa Muerte, Eric added, “These legends also inspired Mexican drug traffickers, particularly in regards to the worship of the Santa Muerte.

The drug traffickers developed a counterculture that justified their criminal actions, as well as an environment where violence and murders are common and condoned. The confrontation of traditional Bolivian culture and violent cartel culture is one of the pillars of Ghost Recon Wildlands.”

Legendary Figures

Túpac Katari (1750 – 81)

Born into a poor Aymara family, Túpac Katari led a major indigenous rebellion against the Spanish Empire between 1780 and 1781. Followed by 40 thousand supporters, along with his wife Bartolina Sisa, he twice laid siege to La Paz against the Spanish.

Subsequently betrayed, he was arrested, tortured, and finally quartered on the 15th of November 1781. Just before dying, he said: “I die, but I will return as millions.” Túpac Katari is now considered an early martyr of the indigenous struggle and the namesake of the rebel leader, Pac Katari, who believes he is a direct descendant.

Simón Bolívar (1783 – 1830)

Simón Bolívar is a major figure of the Latin American wars of independence against the Spanish crown. Born into a wealthy family, he was influenced by the Enlightenment philosophers and the French Revolution.

Trained as a soldier, he fought against the Spanish and their allies for more than two decades, gradually liberating what are now Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia, giving his name to the latter. Simón died in 1830, without being able to maintain the political unity of Latin America.

Gods of the Andes

Pachamama

Pachamama is the Andean Earth goddess. She ensures protection and fertility for the people. She is one of the most popular gods in Bolivia, even though she is also said to be jealous and desirous, requiring constant tokens of respect.

There are many ways to honor her, and one frequent and simple ritual is to spill some liquor on the ground before drinking. It is called the Challa.

El Tío de la Mina

As the god of the Underworld, El Tío represents a major figure of the mining culture in Bolivia. His origins date back to a pre-Columbian Uru god walled Wari.

Miners often gather deep inside the mines, especially in Potosi, offering liquor, cigarettes, and coca leaves to a statue of El Tío in exchange for its protection. Those who fail to honor him may suffer death and injuries. He is usually represented as a mix of a devil and a goat with very explicit male attributes.

Mama Cocha

Mama Cocha is a kind of sea goddess, invoked by sailors and fishermen for protection or to ensure good fishing. In Bolivia, she is linked to rivers and the lakes of the Andes, especially in Titicaca. She is sometimes referred to as the wife of Cirachoca, the pre-Columbian god, and creator of all things with whom she had two children: Inti, the Sun, and Mama Killa, the Moon. Some stories add Pachamama to the family.

Mama Coca

Legends about Mama Coca often tell very different tales. Some think she was Pachamama’s daughter, while others say she was the courted wife of one of the first Incan emperors.

Most stories end with the idea that when she died, her body was dismembered and buried separately. In the tomb’s center appeared a new plant call ‘coca,’ whose leaves, originally reserved for men, could be used to relieve pains and were considered sacred.

Illapa

Illapa was the god of thunder and rain in Inca mythology. He is considered one of the most powerful gods in the Inca pantheon, along with Inti the Sun god.

He is often represented as a man wearing shiny clothing, a sling, and a club. Ancient Incas believed that Illapa brought rain by drawing water from the Milky Way and pouring it over the earth. Thunder was the sound of his sling and lightning was believed to be the gleam of his clothes.

Legendary Locations

The Salt Flats

The Aymara have a myth that explains the creation of the Salt Flats of Uyuni. They believe that, long ago, the volcanoes surrounding the Salar could walk, talk, and even fall in love. The legend says that Tunupa, one of the tallest volcanoes, became pregnant and gave birth to a baby volcano.

Kushu, a nearby volcano who believed he was the father, abducted the child. Tunupa cried for a long time, her tears blended with her mother’s milk, and the mix poured over the arid land, creating the Salt Flats.

Laguna Colorada

Laguna Colorada, or Red Lagoon, is a shallow salt lake of some 60 square kilometers. It is located in southwestern Bolivia, in the Lipez area. It's peculiar color comes from a mix of red sediments and algae with white crystals of borax.

The lagoon is an important mating site for pink flamingos. Local people traditionally come here to hunt them using bolas, a very efficient kind of throwing weapon made of stones on the ends of interconnected cords that entangle the long legs of the flamingos.

To find out more about the many fascinating legends that helped shape Bolivian culture, make sure you find all the Kingslayer files in the game.

We’ve also heard rumors from the locals in Inca Camina about something taking their livestock at an alarming rate. Something that has them terrified…

While you’re gathering intel on the legends of Bolivia, make sure you investigate this as well. Helping the locals will improve our relationship with the rebels and undermine the Santa Blanca.

The Ghosts are special forces prepared to face any conflict, no matter how challenging it is. They have successfully torn apart the powerful Santa Blanca Cartel, turning their organization into little more than ashes, but now they will have to face the greatest challenge they ever experienced: a combat situation with a ruthless enemy who pursues them without hesitation.

Welcome to Fallen Ghosts. This expansion, featuring new missions, weapons, skills, and enemies, will be available on May 30 for the season pass owners, and on June 6 for individual purchase.

Run, fight, hide: test your skills against an unforgiving enemy

After the fall of the Santa Blanca Cartel, Unidad’s military force is unable to contain the chaos created by the Ghosts. Santa Blanca’s disorganized members search for revenge and the rebels are trying to take back control of cocaine production. In order to help restore order in the country, Unidad enlists the most dangerous volunteers, disgraced ex-military special operations and ex-cartel members from various Latin-American countries, giving birth to a unit specializing in the most brutal operations: Los Extranjeros.

Before leaving the country for good, the Ghosts have one last mission: they need to evacuate the last CIA members and American civilians remaining in the country. On their way in, their chopper is shot down and they crash in the middle of the jungle. They are now chased by enemies better equipped and stronger than them…so they will need to play smart if they want to survive.

New bosses, missions, and challenges

The new Fallen Ghosts campaign features 15 new missions in which you will face four new bosses located in three different regions. As with the main game, you have total freedom of choice in the way you complete the missions, either by controlling your AI squad alone or by joining up to three other players in co-op.

The new missions will test your combat skills and the coordination with your team: you will have to eliminate lieutenants, defend civilians, and extract VIPs, all to work your way through to the heads of each region. In addition to the main missions, Fallen Ghosts will also incorporate new side missions scattered around the map. If you complete all the missions of a specific type, you can unlock a final activity that grants you exclusive prizes upon completion.

But these are not the only changes: for those of you who love a good challenge, the Advanced and Expert difficulties have been tweaked to offer a greater challenge. Turn off the HUD and immerse yourself in the most extreme tactical experience you can experience in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.

New deadly enemies: Los Extranjeros

During the events of Fallen Ghosts, your squad will be pursued by Los Extranjeros. Operating under the government protection gave them access to the latest combat technology so, for the first time, the Ghosts will not be the ones equipped with the most advanced tools.

You will have to deal with four new types of enemies and each one of them will require a different approach. Armored enemies wear heavy bulletproof vests and will be hard to kill in close combat; Elite Snipers have a wide detection range and unbeatable aiming skills; the Jammers have an interference antenna equipped on their backpacks that disables all your electronic gadgets; and finally, the Covert Ops will test your detection capabilities with their advanced optical camouflages and their silent but lethal crossbows. They are implacable, and they will push the Ghosts to their limits.

New weapons and skills

Luckily, the Ghosts will have some resources to face this new threat. Fallen Ghosts includes 25 weapons, including six new exclusive ones, featuring assault rifles, sniper rifles, and even a crossbow that can be equipped with explosive arrows. Additionally, you will also be able to get more than 10 exclusive legendary versions.

New set of skills and extra level cap

You start Fallen Ghosts with a new level 30 character with all of the main game skills already active. However, to help you fight this new deadly enemy, you’ll be able to teach your ghost some new skills. To unlock them, the level cap will be raised to level 35. Here are some examples of skills you’ll be able to use, with more of them coming in the final release:

- Drone Updates: The best friend of the Ghosts is now updated with even more tactical options.

- Flash Drone: Transform your drone into a mobile flashbang grenade that will repeatedly trigger blinding flashes.

- Attack Drone: Attach a small-caliber shooting device to your drone to transform it into a lethal flying weapon.

- Drone Vengeance: Equip it with an explosive payload that will activate automatically when shot down by an enemy.

- Physical Skills: Tracked and hunted down, you’ll be forced to unleash your inner Ghost and improve your reflexes to survive.

- Oxygen: Improve your ability to swim underwater for a longer time. Stay undetected and find new stealthy ways to attack your enemy.

- Reaction Marking: Improve your senses and tag every enemy shooting at you.

- Weapons Skills:

- Explosive bolt: Equip your new crossbow with explosive bolts. More deadly, less silent.

- Fast Reload: Increase your dexterity and reload your weapons faster.

For those of you who mastered the campaign, Fallen Ghosts should test your tactical and combat skills to the limit, either solo or with friends. We really hope you will be up to the challenge, Ghosts, because Los Extranjeros will show no mercy.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon® Wildlands - UBI-Zuzu
Greetings Ghosts,

Below, you will find the patch notes for Title Update 4, which will be available on May 17 at approximately 9AM UTC for PC, and May 18 at approximately 9AM UTC for consoles. Similar to previous updates, TU4 will include a brief maintenance period to update servers for the new version. The patch will be up to 7.2 GB PC depending on your client, and up to 9.0 GB on consoles, depending on your installed version; again, an in-game notification will alert players to the availability of the update. A game reboot will be required to apply the patch, and players will need to have the same version of the game in order to play co-op.

Title Update 4 draws much of its focus from player feedback, including several quality of life changes for co-op and solo play and a suite of new HUD and UI options. Co-op players will be able to alert their squad mates when dying, and tagged resource crates will be granted to every teammate in the collecting player’s zone. Downed players will redeploy at the mission starting point, rather than at a random location in the world, and there is now a brief window of time to take down an alerted enemy before a stealth mission is failed.

Title Update 4 will also usher in season two of the Live Season Challenges, with a new focus, new challenges, and new rewards!

Additionally, Challenges will now include some additional gameplay parameters such as difficulty or HUD settings. You can follow along with the new episodes at the Ghost Recon Network.

A new round of improvements and bug-fixes will be implemented with this patch. For example, the introductory Kingslayer video no longer triggers upon launch, and full magazines are no longer consumed when a suppressor is applied to a weapon in the gunsmith menu.

Finally, Title Update 4 paves the way for the upcoming Fallen Ghosts DLC, first announced here. Stay on the lookout for more intel about Fallen Ghosts, coming soon.

War on drugs simulator Ghost Recon Wildlands [official site] is getting its second expansion on June 6. In Fallen Ghosts you fight against a well-equipped band of nasty folk called Los Extranjeros (“the Foreigners”), who rise out of the brewing civil war that has erupted after you ve taken down the game s original baddies, the Santa Blanca cartel. It s almost as if sending four gung-ho gringos to fight narcotrafficantes with helicopters and grenade spam doesn t actually stabilise a country. Who could have foreseen this? Sad! … [visit site to read more]
