Last week we continued our look at Winning Putt’s newest course, Maiphai Hills, with a basic strategy for tackling one of its par 5s, Hole 7. This week we want to explore the other end of the spectrum with Hole 3 of Maiphai Hills, the course’s first par 3.

Maiphai Hills’ 3^rd hole is a medium length par 3 with a subtle dog leg. Sweet Shot or Straight Shot are incredible boons for most characters to have on this hole as they greatly increase your accuracy. In general, increasing your accuracy on short holes is very strong. However, if you’re a lower leveled accuracy character and can’t make the distance, you should make use of Power Shot.

Since this is a shorter hole, you shouldn’t need any stamina or mentality drinks. However, because accuracy is so key, you’ll want items that help you with that. 3 pc or even 4 pc golf balls are a great boon on this hole and won’t go to waste on the other holes on this course. A premium GPS will also help your aim and prepare you to compensate for wind. They’ll also help you judge your landing zone’s slope better.

Since it is possible to get a hole-in-one on this hole, your starting drive placement is very important. If you have a GPS, now is the time to use it. Because of the way the green is sloped, you’re going to want to aim a little short and a little to the right so that the ball will roll towards the hole. If you don’t make it in, all the accuracy increasing items or abilities you’ve used should keep you close to the hole so you can get an easy birdie.

A couple of weeks ago, we discussed four piece golf balls, and talked about the differences in play those types of balls offered over the standard one piece golf ball that we simulate with the free balls you always have available to you in Winning Putt. Today, we’re continuing that series with a discussion on three piece golf balls.

As a quick recap, just in case you haven’t read the prior article, one piece golf balls are standard only in that they’re the cheapest ball you can find. They’re typically just one solid piece of Surlyn, with dimples molded onto them. They’re durable, but even the most advanced player won’t be able to hit them as far as some other types of balls.

Four piece balls are comprised of four different layers, and are some of the highest performing balls players can use on a real golf course today. In Winning Putt, these balls offer a mix of added distance and accuracy, as they work to reduce the run of the ball.

Three Piece balls are not surprisingly composed of three different layers. The physical product features a solid rubber or liquid core, followed by a layer of enhanced rubber, which is then covered by a high quality cover of Surlyn, Urethane, or similar material. These balls are softer and offer their user more spin, which the golfer can use to gain better control of the flight of the ball.
In Winning Putt, these balls focus on the added spin, helping to greatly reduce the run of the ball once it lands. This type of ball won’t provide players with the extra distance that a four or two piece ball would, but they do help greatly in placing the ball right where you want it to go.

Of course, we think that the best way to understand the effects these balls can have on your Winning Putt game is to try them out! Welcome to the November 2016 edition of our Letter from The Groundskeeper! This past month has been jam packed with some great content, and we intend to keep going strong through the Month of November and beyond! In general, we try not to discuss anything here that you won’t be seeing in the game within 90 days. However, game development and technology can be fickle creatures at times. If you don’t see something we talk about here in our next update, don’t worry! We’re still working on making Winning Putt the best game we can for you to enjoy.

Winning Putt Live and on Steam

In case you missed it, Winning Putt recently exited Open Beta and celebrated its commercial launch! On top of this, we also launched Winning Putt on Steam, and since then we’ve been experiencing a large influx of new players. If you’re one of our long time veteran players, and see someone you don’t know wandering the Square, please feel free to take a moment to say “Hello and welcome to the game!” One of our favorite things about Winning Putt is our dedicated community, and we’re incredibly excited to grow that community!

Turkey Comas Galore

November in America is known for a special holiday, Thanksgiving. Celebrated the fourth Thursday of every November, Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate with your family and friends, and be thankful for all that you have. In Winning Putt, the thing we’re most Thankful for is you, and your continued dedication to Winning Putt! To help celebrate this, we’re having a special Thanksgiving Tournament from November 21st through November 28th. During this tournament, we’ll also be holding a special login event with some great free items to say thanks to players both new and old. We hope you’ll enjoy the festivities, and want to thank you so much for spending some of your time playing Winning Putt. It really does mean the world to us.

Another New Course?

We just released our newest course, Maiphai Hills to players in its beta phase. Players have been raving about this course since its launch, and we’re almost ready to take the course out of beta and into full release. This means that players will begin to see Maiphai Hills in more areas of Winning Putt, including Ranked Rounds, and Tournaments!

That doesn’t mean we’re done though. Maiphai Hills is meant for players who are a little lower level, and while all players may be able to enjoy its challenges, we want to provide something new for higher level players as well. To that end, we’re currently finishing the preparations to bring one of Winning Putt’s more challenging courses to our servers. Players can expect to see Harsh Cape be released into beta mode soon, and will have a chance to provide feedback before we fully release it into Ranked Rounds and Tournament play.

New Crafting and Combining System

One of the things we’re hard at work on right now is introducing a new crafting/combining system to the game. We don’t have full details yet, but players can expect to be able to disassemble old unwanted gear and insignias in order to gain materials which can then be used to create new items. We’re really hoping this feature will allow players something better to do with their old clubs besides selling them for a few gold or letting them take up precious inventory space.

Ongoing Optimization Efforts

The other big things we have our teams working on right now is further optimizing Winning Putt’s graphics, gameplay, and performance to help ensure players have a smoother experience over all. We understand that latency of any kind is something that players are really unhappy with experiencing, so we’ll be working on doing what we can on our end to improve performance across the board.

The first Season of Winning Putt’s Volero Tour is on! This season players will compete in six different tournaments beginning today with the RTB Classic and concluding with the Volero Championship, which begins on November 28th.

The RTB Classic will take place on Breezy Hill (Normal difficulty) beginning on October 27th at 7:00 PM PDT, and will run until November 3rd at 1:00 PM PDT. Players’ final scorecards must be submitted by 2:00 PM PDT in order to qualify for tournament entry. To enter this tournament, players must pay the 5,000 Gold entry fee and complete all 18 holes of the course. This tournament will be open to all players and features a prize pool of 700,000 Gold and 5,000 Ranked Tournament points, both of which will be distributed amongst the top 100 players in the tournament.

Players who are unhappy with their score may purchase a re-participation ticket from Winning Putt’s Support Shop for 5,000 Gold or 150 Platinum. Using this ticket will allow players to re-participate in the tournament, replacing their current score with the new score, regardless of whether it is better or not.
