Common Issues

  • If you see a "tearing" / flickering screen in Bigscreen on your Oculus Rift, disable Asynchronous Spacewarp.
  • If you can't see any screens, you probably have Nvidia Optimus or your monitor is plugged into your motherboard instead of your dedicated graphics card. more info here

How multiple monitor works today

  • supports up to 3 monitors today, all must be connected to the same graphics card as the VR headset
  • each virtual monitor can be scaled, curved, and positioned independently
  • use your mouse + 2D UI, or controllers (Oculus Touch, Oculus Remote, or HTC Vive) to scale and move the monitors
  • works in both single-player and multiplayer
  • features like SBS 3D only work on the Primary display
  • Secondary displays can be *hidden* via the 2D UI

Emulating or virtual monitors
Don't have physical monitors? No problem!

  • Plug in a headless ghost dongle ($15) into your graphics card to emulate a monitor
  • Instead, if your monitor has multiple input ports, you can simply plug in an extra cable into your monitor and graphics card
  • Plug in a USB Monitor

Roadmap
major features in the works, the current priorities are:

  • performance fixes (see below)
  • a new cinema environment
  • desktop audio streaming improvements and bug fixes
  • better FPS in multiplayer streaming (new streaming tech is coming!)
  • avatar improvements

A note on performance
We have noticed significantly worse performance of Bigscreen on many PCs. We've traced this back to a bad update from November and we're working on a fix now. Terribly sorry about the terrible performance – it's a bug and will be fixed soon!

People have been requesting multi-monitor support ever since Bigscreen launched.

GOOD NEWS!

It's coming very soon. We're putting the final touches on the UI and UX, polishing the experience, and fixing some bugs. It should be out within two weeks.

Multi-monitor will require you to have multiple physical monitors or a cheap Headless Ghost ($15) dongle.

If you'd like to test multi-monitor before it launches, we'll be posting alpha tests to Steam. Join our Discord server to get notified when we post the alpha test.

Release notes for today's Bigscreen update:

Desktop Audio streaming update

Anyone can now start Desktop Audio streaming inside of a room (Previously, only the room creator could start Desktop Audio *before* creating the room.) Simply click the orange "volume" icon in the room UI. Voicemeeter Banana is still required if you want to broadcast your desktop audio stream. We're continuing to work on ways of making this easier.

Admin powers

Admins can now "lock" the big presentation screen and "lock" desktop audio. Locking prevents people from hijacking the screen or trolling, and is recommended if you're watching a movie in the room and you don't want to be interrupted. More admin powers will be coming in the near future.

New user interface

You can now browse the Multiplayer lobby / list of public rooms, even if you're inside a room. This allows you to browse other rooms and see what rooms your friends are in, without leaving your current room.

Many bug fixes

"Double admin" bug has been fixed
SBS 3D on the small / personal screen has been fixed
