Hey everyone!

We’ve been hard at work on Oxygen Not Included since our last outing in September. A small taste of some of the things we’ve been working on are:
  • Duplicant traits: Dupes now have starting traits that give them more personality. Personally, I like all my dupes to be both flatulent and narcoleptic…
  • Farming: No longer are you doomed to using the gross Microbe Musher for your food needs.
  • Disease: Eating bad food and breathing bad air tends to be bad for you.
  • Decorations: Brighten up your colony with some mediocre paintings!
We’re working toward an early Alpha right now -- we’ll report back in the New Year. For now, Happy Holidays!

Oxygen Not Included [Steam page] is smooshing together two of my favourite things: colony management simulation, and games by Klei Entertainment, the makers of Invisible, Inc. It appears to be a scifi Dungeon Keeper, or a cutesy Dwarf Fortress, or an underground RimWorld, at least as far as I can tell from the hour-long game stream embedded below.

Klei’s hit rate is nuts>, especially when you consider that they hop genres with each game: from Mark of the Ninja‘s sidescrolling stealthy murderthon, to Don’t Starve‘s topdown survivalthon, to Invisible, Inc.‘s turn-based infiltratathon. Next up is the Oxygen Not Included, a space colony management sim(-thon) that was announced last night at E3.
