World of Tanks Blitz - TOG II*

Years have passed since the IS-3 Defender became an overnight legend. In the first fight, this heavy came up against several enemy tanks… and the Defender destroyed them all; it was almost too easy. Then there was more fighting, more battles and there were thousands of fallen enemies. It seemed that no opponent or teammate would ever match up against this Soviet heavy. But sooner or later, the balance would be restored.

Somewhere in a desert across the ocean, behind thick barbed fences and beyond barriers and checkpoints, in a sterile garage, a tired engineer in a white robe said: “Done!” There was a strange hum. The siren then blared, and the gate opened, the rays of the sun beamed down and hit the blackened armor. At the rear of the vehicle and on its long-barreled gun lightning sparked, and the black armored vehicle soon shot off. This was the T28 Defender seeking its first fight, and it will soon go down in history.

Until 8 March, you will have the opportunity to get your hands on the T28 Defender, or if you prefer, get both of these unique machines, the IS-3 Defender and T28 Defender, with full equipment loadouts. Get hold of these unstoppable powers!

Dossier: T28 Defender

A folder with these documents was found in a roadside motel room in Nevada. We don’t know who the guy who left them is, we just know he arrived late last night, frightened and shaken up. Any sound would make him twitchy and turn around to check it out. Plus, the headlights of a passing car spooked him so much he almost ran away. Something was definitely up. He just seemed to disappear after locking himself in his room. No-one saw him leave. It’s all too strange.

Background

We don’t even know what we are working on. We never get any information ahead of time, it’s all on a day-to-day basis. The work plan, if such a thing exists, is kept somewhere among the black jackets, but the soldiers stand guard up at the entrance to their wing at all hours of the day. They say it’s for our safety. I don’t believe a word of it.

Increased Protection

A T28 Prototype was delivered to the base and then the project name was revealed—Defender.

The first point was strengthening the armor. We increased the thickness of the turret’s front to 215 mm, then we added a roof for extra protection. When the TD was on the firing and artillery range, tests showed that at mid- to long-range, the turret could withstand hits from medium tank weaponry.

The frontal armor was left unchanged: 203 mm tilted at such an angle that it’s an effort to hit it at mid-range. Of course, especially powerful weapons at short distances will be able to penetrate this, but the T28 Defender isn’t one for close combat.

We also took care of the sides: instead of 50 mm, there’s now 75 mm over the tracks. This will allow the T28 Defender to confidently angle its armor to block shells when firing from cover. The tracks have also been covered with 5-mm screens, this means that the vehicle will be harder to stop and penetrate with HE or HEAT shells.

Where did they get such an engine?

Yesterday, we spent the entire day signing the non-disclosure agreement. Then suddenly this morning, we discovered this thing in the garage, similar to an aircraft turbine. It was the engine, and according to documents, it boasts 750 horsepower. That’s all we know at the moment. How it even works is unclear. It took several days to prepare the hull and install the engine. When it started, we saw lightning running through the engine compartment. What is this thing?

This strange engine did the trick. There are rumours going around that it’s some sort of extra-terrestrial technology. When tested, the T28 Defender was able to hit 20 km/h in about 3 seconds and reach top speed of 30 km/h in about 7 seconds. Even rough terrain barely slows this monster down.

The turret is one of the key features of the T28 Prototype, and we managed to keep it. Despite its rotational restriction of 286 degrees, the T28 Defender is able to quickly respond to the emergence of new targets. Thanks to the turret, the low turning speed of the chassis isn’t so noticeable. And that’s not to mention it’s increased the chance of survival in battle.

The railgun already exists!

The theory of a gun based on an electromagnetic accelerator is known to us, but today we saw it in an actual real-life weapon. The best design engineers are within our team and none of us have created such a weapon—we were just instructed to turn the screws, here and there. Who made this weapon...?

Through one way or another, this weapon has enormous power. Its magazine can store 3 rounds, each recharging in 6.67 seconds, and reloading entirely takes 22 seconds. This gun isn’t the most accurate, but it can penetrate 225 mm with standard ammunition and deals 400 damage per shot. In just 14 secs, the T28 Defender can take away 1,200 HP from enemy forces!

The weapon testing went amazingly, and the project reached its final stage. We are proud to have helped create the T28 Defender, a weapon seriously ahead of its time in all respects. This vehicle is designed for fighting on the second line and the mighty armor and the autoloading gun make it a formidable opponent. Team up with a heavy tank that can cover when you need to reload and this T28 variant can quickly remove the enemy’s key machines from the fight.

Everything has its price: our team already knows so many secrets that it would be dangerous for us to leave here, plus they can put us to work on creating more weapons of the future. But I have an escape plan. The time’s come to put it into action!

World of Tanks Blitz - TOG II*

The great hunt begins! These Chinese tank destroyers are warming up their engines and loading their guns in anticipation of taking to the Blitz battlefield! As soon as Update 5.8 goes live, prepare yourself: these vehicles show no mercy!

Tier VI: WZ-131G-FT

Researchable from the Type T-34 for 23,700 XP.

We start off the branch with a lightly armored agile tank destroyer. It’s not got the best top speed, but its movement and maneuverability make up for that. With quick acceleration, the WZ-131G-FT can instantly top 20 km/h, and in a couple of seconds hits 30 km/h. To reach its true top speed, this vehicle needs a little less than 10 seconds.

The front of the WZ-131G-FT only offers 35 mm of armor and even with its good angling, you shouldn’t rely on it too much. Instead, take advantage of cover, the vehicle’s mobility and its firepower. The base 85-mm gun has 145 mm armor penetration but offers more than 2500 damage per minute. The “top” gun isn’t particularly fast-firing but can penetrate 181 mm and deals 280 damage per shot, meaning you can do almost 2,200 damage per minute. All in all, this Tier VI TD is such a pleasure to play, you won’t even notice how much XP you’re earning!

Tier VII: T-34-2G FT

Researchable from the WZ-131G-FT for 48,200 XP.

This Chinese TD resembles the Soviet SU-122-44 and SU-122-54. The T-34-2G FT also has good mobility and can always change direction or quickly get to a good position.

Its sloping frontal armor has a thickness of 70 mm, won’t provide great protection and can only repel shells from the weakest guns. So, the tactics of the T-34-2G FT don’t veer far from its predecessor: move, support allies from a distance and dish out damage.

The standard cannon penetrates 189 mm of armor, fires 8 times a minute and deals 280 damage per shot. With this on board, you can comfortably invest in the remaining modules and then reach the 122-mm “destructor”. The top gun deals 400 damage and can penetrate 192 mm of armor, yielding 2500 damage per minute. The T-34-2G FT will bite painfully and often—opponents might not appreciate it, but you certainly will!

Tier VIII: WZ-111-1G FT

Researchable from the T-34-2G FT for 91,000 XP.

At Tier VIII, the branch of Chinese TDs moves from the agile chassis of the medium tank to the slow, but well-protected, chassis of the heavies. Using the WZ-111 as a base, the WZ-111-1G FT has good movement and decent armor.

The forehead of the hull forms a “pike nose” and at 100 mm, it works as expected: it depends how you angle your vehicle. The WZ-111-1G FT’s conning tower is protected by 180 mm of armor, but its armor plates are only slightly angled. In the heat of battle, penetration can’t be avoided, but at mid- to long-range, the armor can block a fair amount of damage.

You’ll start off with a 122-mm gun with quite “adult” characteristics: 5.69 rounds per minute, 248 mm of armor penetration and 400 damage per shot. It also benefits from high accuracy and a quick aim time, so you won’t find yourself striving for the top gun, but you will still need to research it to move up. The “top” 130-mm gun penetrates 3 mm less armor and shoots a little slower but deals 460 damage with every shot.

Tier IX: WZ-111G FT

Researchable from the WZ-111-1G FT for 150,000 XP.

The vehicles of Tier VIII and IX have very similar names, but when you meet them, you won’t confuse them. The WZ-111-1G FT (which is Tier VIII) resembles the Soviet Object 268, and the WZ-111G FT is most similar to the ISU-152. This Tier IX beast has a high conning tower and a weapon slightly shifted towards starboard.

The WZ-111G FT boasts 200 mm of frontal armor and with its good inclination, not everyone can penetrate here. A large area in the forehead is occupied by a thick gun mantlet, which will also help save your HP pool. However, there are weak spots in the front: the lower glacis plate, the commander’s hatch and the driver’s scope will take in enemy shells without much resistance. But to hit them, you need to be close and aim well.

You’ll start off with a familiar gun as it’s taken from its predecessor, the WZ-111-1G FT. The characteristics of this 130-mm gun haven’t changed with the tier increase, only the aiming time has increased slightly. The top gun, the 152-mm cannon, fires less often. On the other hand, you’ll be able to penetrate 290 mm of armor and deal 640 damage with every shot.

Tier X: WZ-113G FT

Researchable from the WZ-111G FT for 350,000 XP.

Give a warm welcome to the top of the tree branch. Get comfortable and find out more about this powerful, formidable tank destroyer.

The chassis is borrowed from a heavy tank and the thickened armor of the conning tower significantly affects the mobility of this Tier X TD. Because of this, the vehicle ended up rather slow-paced: it quickly accelerates to 20 km/h, reaching 30 km/h in about 8 seconds. To reach its top speed (without the help of equipment), you need to find a downhill slope and just slide! But with all the improvements onboard, the movement of the WZ-113G FT is pretty nice with a cruising speed of between 34-36 km/h.

The frontal plate boasts a thickness of 230 mm and it’s angled to provide reliable protection against many cannons. In order to confidently penetrate the WZ-111G FT through this point (and not rely on the RNG gods), enemy tanks will need 280 mm of armor penetration—at least. So, anyone you come across must be well-armed or start firing Premium shells. The lower part of the hull is less protected, so it’s better to hide it and not get involved in close quarters combat at all, so as not to fall victim to circling tactics.

This top tier TD is armed with the same 152-mm cannon as the Tier IX WZ-111G FT. However, the gun has been buffed; now it boasts an increased rate of fire and faster aiming time. The armor penetration of this large-caliber cannon is enough to hit most targets without specifically targeting weak spots, and even for the most armored mastodons, there’s always HEAT rounds with an armor penetration of 375 mm. With these characteristics, almost every projectile you fire will reduce the enemy’s strength and bring your team closer to victory!

So now you know about the new Chinese TDs, get out there and take them for a spin!

The Celestial Legendary Camouflage and Hard Shell Attachment

  • The Celestial legendary camouflage for 1450 Gold is effective on all types of map. It doesn't require replenishment and changes the tank name in battle to WZ-112-2 Celestial.
  • The Hard Shell attachment for 864 Gold spruces up the vehicle model: it adds a basket with supplies to the rear of the turret.

A force to be reckoned with

The WZ-112-2 is a classic heavy tank resembling the IS-3, WZ-111, and 112 Glacial. It features a low silhouette, a flat turret that easily deflects shells and is shifted to the front of the hull, and a 122 mm gun capable of a massive single-shot damage.

Like the 112 Glacial, the new tank was designed without the famous "pike nose". For sacrificing the advantages of this configuration, the WZ-112-2 has received two flat frontal armor plates and a better sidescraping ability. The 140 mm-thick upper plate is well-angled and able to withstand the hits from most Tier VII-VIII vehicle guns. The lower plate is traditionally thin and yields to shells with even a modest penetration, so do everything you can to hide this area!

If you decide to hide the hull's front behind cover, the 100 mm-thick armor on the sides will be displayed at a good angle—this standard trick used by heavy vehicles will suit the WZ-112-2 just as well. But don't overdo the sidescraping, or you'll put your sides at risk. The vertically positioned track fender creates an illusion of vulnerability for the armor and provides additional protection. In reality, it's only a screen hiding the real sloped armor beneath it. An experienced opponent is unlikely to strike there, but in the confusion of battle this screen will block a lot of damage.

The front of the WZ-112-2's strong round turret is safely protected with 195 mm armor, which allows you to confidently hold back enemy attacks while hiding the hull behind cover. There are only two ways to penetrate this turret's front: with high penetration and aiming at the “cheeks” from close range, or shooting with a jeweler's accuracy at the small hatch projections on the turret.

The WZ-112-2 is equipped with a 580 hp engine, providing the tank with average mobility. The vehicle accelerates to 20 km/h within a couple of seconds, and takes about 8-10 seconds to reach the average speed of 30 km/h. Reaching its maximum speed of 42 km/h is quite feasible, but you'll need to boost your tank with equipment and provisions.

You'll also want Improved Fuel and other enhancements on the WZ-112-2 because this tank doesn't like to turn. It does so slowly, along a big trajectory and visibly loses speed. It's better to slow down before the maneuver if you wish to fit into a sharp turn without driving into a building.

The WZ-112-2 is equipped with a 122 mm gun boasting high single-shot damage and a moderate rate of fire. The gun knocks off 400 HP per shot—tangible damage that quickly discourages the enemy from any further attempts to exchange fire with you. The basic 215 mm penetration is enough to efficiently fight at close and medium ranges. To get to the most thick-skinned opponents, take some HEAT shells with you into battle: they are capable of penetrating 270 mm of armor.

The new WZ-112-2—a heavy with attitude. This Premium tank needs an experienced and confident commander able to unleash its full potential. Take command of the WZ-112-2 and free the power it holds inside, and you'll be rewarded with victories and enviable amounts of credits!
World of Tanks Blitz - TOG II*

Strong frontal armor, a durable turret ready to bounce anything coming its way, a decent gun and surprisingly good movement for a 60-ton colossus—all this can be found in the newest Premium tank, the Chrysler K. Additionally, the legendary “Tomahawk” camouflage and the “Vanguard” attachment will underline the crushing power of this monster. Meet this thick-skinned heavy up close and battle for victory, credits and glory!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz6zP4EsUa4

Until February 1, two versions of the Chrysler K—one fully loaded and the other more bare-bones—will be in the Store. Also, in a separate package, you’ll find the “Vanguard” attachment and legendary camouflage, which changes the tank’s name in battle to Chrysler K Tomahawk!

Everything You Need to Know

Until today, there was only one Tier VIII heavy tank with a rear-mounted turret, the Soviet IS-2Sh. There are both pros and cons to these vehicles: due to this turret placement some heated discussions can start, but they have proven themselves in “Blitz” battles.

Straightaway, the reasoning behind rear-mounted turret becomes clear: the Chrysler K will be especially good in urban confrontations. You position your hull in a diamond shape near a house, cover your front behind the wall, and deal some damage, rejecting any incoming shells with your side. The thickness of its side armor is only 110 mm but angling the heavy will get the job done with its ricocheting. 100% guaranteed.

The turret also makes for convenient shooting from such positions. Its thickness reaches up to 254 mm (at the gun’s mask). Frontally, it varies from 152 mm up to 254 mm. This impressive defense is reinforced by a rounded shape, perfect for ricochets. The turret still can be penetrated by targeting the commander’s hatch, but to hit it, a foe will need sniper-like accuracy, a little luck and your willing participation (simply stand still and let the enemy take aim).

As for the frontal armor, there’re some pros and some cons. The good: the upper plate has a thickness of 152 mm and is set at a great angle to perfectly protect your HP pool. The bad: the infamous weak spot, the lower plate. Despite an impressive 145 mm of thickness, it can be easily penetrated by most rivals because of its insufficient inclination. Remember: the longer you hide this plate, the more likely you are to stay alive.

Its thick armor and large mass don’t mean that the Chrysler K isn’t a boisterous tank. Just imagine a Rottweiler that’s heard the rustle of food being prepared, that’s this American heavy. On the flats, its powerful engine accelerates to 30km/h in 5 seconds and gets up to its max speed of 40 km/h in just 10. This means that you’ll manage to get to the key areas of a map and, even on occasion, to ram an unaware soft target.

The maneuverability of this American heavy is also pretty decent: this vehicle can take sharp turns with just slight deceleration. The turret spins fairly quickly (it’s on a par with the VK 45.02 or the IS-5). Of course, as a heavy vehicle you can be circled around by a speedy enemy tank, but they better be prepared for returning fire.

The Chrysler K is armed with the improved version of the T32’s top 105-mm gun. It features a good rate of fire, decent armor penetration and modest damage. You’ll be able to penetrate the majority of foes when targeting their weak points. For those well-protected enemies, an APCR shell can prove useful with its ability to pierce armor 245 mm thick.

As for the gun depression, it depends on where exactly you point your barrel. When looking forward, you’ll only have 6 degrees. However, when hanging over the sides or the back, the number will reach 10 degrees. These angles won’t make the Chrysler K the “lord of the hills”, but it will help in some situations to utilize the terrain and fight more effectively.

Chrysler K: It’s a dynamic “heavy”, able to quickly adjust to the course of battle. Its combination of good mobility and strong armor makes it a multi-tasking fighter who can both defend the land and lead the charge. It’s a versatile warrior, but don’t send it to do reconnaissance. Due to the rear-mounted turret (which is pretty handy at ricocheting shells, too), this new Premium is great for urban battles. And thanks to its Premium yield, there will be an extra heap of credits on top of your victories!

World of Tanks Blitz - TOG II*

The brand-new M4-A2 is an American tank that fought under the Soviet flag. It is an in-game implementation of the vehicle that captain Dmitriy Loza, a Hero of the Soviet Union, used to fight on.

Bundles with the M4-A2 (fully equipped or without mounted equipment) will be available in the Store through January 25. Choose the configuration to your liking!

Maneuverable and fast-firing

Loza's M4-A2 Sherman is very similar to the researchable M4A3E8 with a stock turret and less powerful engine. These vehicles also have similar guns; however the Loza's Sherman gun is more accurate and aims a bit quicker.

Like most other Shermans in the game, the M4-A2’s armor is not something to boast about. Its high hull can be easily penetrated by most enemies. However, the turret’s front armor is almost fully covered by the thick gun mantlet, so the Loza's Sherman can significantly increase its survivability on irregular terrain.

Despite having a less powerful engine than its counterpart, the M4A2 is still quite a fast vehicle. It quickly accelerates to 30-35 km/h and then steadily reaches its top speed. The best thing about the Loza's Sherman is its maneuverability: it negotiates sharp curves well. This advantage is also boosted by a fast turret, which will remain a constant threat for enemies even in the most chaotic battles.

The M4-A2 gun has solid damage per minute: 1,756 HP of damage with AP shells without provisions and equipment. To deal this much damage you will have to be on the move, actively making flank and rear attacks. However, sometimes AP shells can't penetrate a well-armored front. In this case, APCR will be there for you, though it deals 25 HP of damage less than AP shells.

Solid accuracy and short aiming time allow sharpshooting at long distances while taking full advantage of the gun’s firing speed. The famous American stabilization will provide a solid bonus to your hit ratio: you will fire accurately even in sharp turns at full speed.

Test this new vehicle in battle — rush ahead to victory!

Loza's M4-A2 Sherman. Historical Reference

Dmitriy Loza, a Hero of the Soviet Union, went to the front in 1943. He used to fight on foreign-made vehicles: first on Matildas and then on Shermans.

Loza's M4-A2 Sherman is an in-game implementation of one of the vehicles the legendary captain used to fight on. Tanks of this type were supplied to the USSR from the USA within the lend-lease program and received rather positive reactions from the Red Army soldiers. Loza's Sherman is equipped with a 76 mm long-barreled М1А2 gun with a good rate of fire and high damage per minute. The vehicle's exterior reflects the original appearance of captain Loza's tank.

World of Tanks Blitz - TOG II*

Rapid-firing and accurate, dynamic and maneuverable, also good-looking and quite profitable—it’s the new Premium Panzer 58. The excellent characteristics are complemented by the Mutz legendary camouflage—the image of a ferocious bear is spread across the turret and hull sides. The camouflage changes the tank's name in battle to Panzer 58 Mutz and does not require replenishment. Intimidate your opponents and tear enemy vehicles to pieces!

Bundles including the Panzer 58 with or without full equipment, as well as a separate bundle featuring the Mutz legendary camouflage, will be available in the in-game Store till December 21. Become one of the first lucky owners of the Panzer 58!

More about the Panzer 58

In battle, the Panzer 58 most resembles its researchable German counterparts—the Tier IX and X Leopards. Despite being just as weakly armored, it has excellent maneuverability, decent speed, and an efficient gun.

In fact, the armor of the Panzer 58 is not as impressive as it may seem judging by its characteristics. You'll find a small area at the front of the hull that is 120 mm thick, but the remaining armor is thinner, which makes it easy to penetrate for most opponents.

The turret has more reliable protection. First of all, the thick 120 mm armor plate at its front is larger. Secondly, a large part of the turret is covered by the gun mantlet. The enemy will find its weak spots in a close quarters engagement, but the turret of the Panzer 58 will be able to block a number of enemy shells at medium and long distances.

Thanks to its powerful engine and average weight, the Panzer 58 quickly accelerates to 40 km/h, which gradually reaches the maximum of 50 km/h on level ground. Rest assured: on this Premium tank, you will always be able to take a decisive position or rush to your allies' side in time to help them.

The maneuverability of the Panzer 58 deserves special mention: this tank makes turns within a small radius and with no noticeable loss in speed. That means you can easily spin a clumsy tank destroyer around or slip between obstacles and enemy vehicles like a slalom champion!

The rapid-firing gun of the Panzer 58 devours enemy vehicles' HP points like a locust eats crops: the potential damage per minute for an armor-piercing shell exceeds 2,100 hit points! And this is before provisions and equipment are added.

You'll have everything you need to turn potential damage into enemy tears, credits, and beautiful statistics: the 212 mm of penetration capability will be enough to hit the sides or reach vulnerable spots in the frontal area of most targets. If the enemy stays impenetrable, but you still want to "bite" them, the APCR shells with 259 mm of penetration power are just what you need.

The gun of the Panzer 58 "bows down" 10 degrees, which means it can deal damage with an additional advantage. Hide the tank's hull behind terrain irregularities, leave only the turret exposed to take the blow, and escape safely after punching some holes in enemy armor!

Crush them all on the new Panzer 58!
