After the Croatian camouflage and the Spanish camouflage, it’s time to unveil the final historical camouflage of the Merc on Vacation event – the Bulgarian camo.
Bulgaria has a long and interesting military history from its Nazi support during the Second World War to its membership in the Warsaw Pact. After the end of WW2, the only official combat operation the Bulgarian Army participated in was the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Despite never being regarded as one of the major military powers in Europe, or within the Warsaw Pact for that matter, the Bulgarian military was in fact very large and relatively well-trained. However, its distance from the potential front lines of the Third World War reduced its role to guarding Warsaw Pact’s southern flank against possible enemy incursions.
This had two effects. First, the army was incredibly expensive. Bulgaria has never been a truly rich country and the burden of keeping over three hundred thousand active troops at any given point along with thousands of tanks and other armored vehicles was far more than any normal economy could bear – and with the failures of socialist economies, the problems increased to staggering proportions. To put things into perspective – where European economies now usually spend less than 3 percent of GDP on their militaries, Warsaw Pact economies during the 1980s would spend up to 20 percent of GDP, an incredible and definitely unsustainable amount.
The second effect was that to arm such a military, you need an industry of your own. Bulgarian military industrial complex was actually very large and well-developed and was fueled by arms exports to third world countries. Bulgarian weapons and advisors could be found mostly in Africa, but some made it as far as Vietnam.
As a result, the collapse and the subsequent fire sale did hurt the Bulgarian military even more than the other armies of the former Warsaw Pact. In the 1990s, Bulgarian arms flooded the third world and the Bulgarian Army was reduced to a shadow of its former glory, a shock it never truly recovered from, although things started looking up for the small nation at the Black Sea at the turn of the millennium. In 2004, Bulgaria entered the NATO and started integrating its forces into the alliance structures. Roughly five hundred Bulgarian troops participated in the Iraq War between 2003 and 2008, and Bulgaria also sent a security force of several hundred men to Afghanistan.
The Bulgarian involvement in the Afghanistan mission ended this year and here’s where we finally reach the article as, according to some sources, the Bulgarian camouflage we are introducing specifically belongs to the units deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It appeared in the early 2000s during the early days of War on Terror and is being used to this day during operations abroad – domestic Bulgarian tanks are typically painted green only and do not bear any camouflage.
The camouflage consists of wide light green, dark green, brown and yellow stripes. Why would this be beneficial in the desert environment of Afghanistan or Iraq is unclear, but the stripes do break the tank silhouette nicely. Bulgaria currently operates about a hundred T-72M2 MBTs (an upgraded version of the T-72M1) as well as a number of older Soviet era AFVs, so applying it to your BMPs and T-72s will make them appear historically accurate.
Additionally, we’re adding the crest of the Bulgarian Armed Forces as a decal. This is not strictly historical, as Bulgarian vehicles do not typically wear any special roundels or crests, but we hope that you will enjoy its inclusion nonetheless.

Iron Crate (this time with the Kornet-D1 Tier 10 Premium TD)
Between July 22 and July 29, 2021, the following items will be available:
Warfighter Skin for Type 99A2
This skin will turn your Type 99A2 Tier 10 Main Battle Tank into a battle-scared monster, covered with rust and autumn leaves to hide its silhouette. This skin is the best choice for the lovers of realistic appearances as it will stand out even amongst the more decorative ones while maintaining the battle-worn, military look.
The skin is available as a part of the Warfighter Bundle, which contains the following items:
Warfighter skin for Type 99A2
5 Platinum Loot Crates
1.000 Gold
Chinese Camouflages
Modern Chinese vehicles typically use various digital camouflage patterns that work as silhouette breakers. These vary in rectangle size and colors. Armored Warfare contains three real-life summer patterns used in real life on various Type 99 series Main Battle Tanks. All three are now available in a bundle along with the Obsidian Black base paint.
Please note that each of these camouflages can be installed on any vehicle that has the camouflage customization feature available (any vehicle with the exception of vehicles with permanent skins) and that each of these camouflages can be used in all three environments.
AFT-10
The AFT-10 is a tracked ATGM carrier based on a ZBD-04 IFV hull that carries eight massive Red Arrow-10 guided missiles. In their latest version, these modern ATGMs are capable of devastating even the most modern MBTs at extreme distances and the AFT-10 was designed to do just that – to stop enemy assaults dead in their tracks. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the AFT-10 is a Tier 10 Premium Tank Destroyer. Its massive ATGM launcher immediately draws comparison with another Tier 10 vehicle, the Kornet-EM. But where Kornet-EM is all about speed, stealth and missile ambushes, the AFT-10 is about one thing and one thing only – uncompromising firepower. It is capable of unleashing devastating missile salvos that can knock out even Tier 10 MBTs in seconds. Additionally, its missiles have a very high penetration value, which means that no matter the angle, no target is truly safe from its reach.
The AFT-10 Tier 10 Premium TD is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.
QN-506
The QN-506 fire support vehicle is a Chinese attempt to design a cheap, export-oriented alternative to the Russian BMPT series. Instead of converting a second or third generation MBT, the engineers at Wuhan Guide Infrared Co., Ltd., likely to keep the vehicle as affordable as possible, opted to base their project on the Type 59 MBT, which is, in its basic form anyway, a copy of the old Soviet T-55 medium tank from the late 1950s. They jam-packed it with cutting edge electronics and a number of weapon systems, including ATGMs, an automatic cannon or smaller caliber rockets. However, despite the use of an unmanned turret, the protection levels of this vehicle are still quite low and, so far, there haven’t been any signs of interest in the QN-506. You can learn more about this vehicle in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the QN-506 is a Premium Tier 9 Tank Destroyer that gameplay-wise resembles the popular BMPT series. However, unlike the Russian Terminators, it has a number of interesting features including tree different weapon systems (30mm cannon, 70mm unguided rockets and 151mm ATGMs) and loitering recon ammunition flying towards the end of a map and spotting everything in its path. The last ability is unique to the QN-506 and makes it one of the most potent support vehicles on the battlefield.
Hunter AFV
Another alternative name for this vehicle is NGAFV (or Next Gen AFV), since it belongs to a whole program to replace the obsolete M113 APC in Singaporean service and to operate alongside its predecessor, another indigenous Singaporean IFV called Bionix. Hunter is the name of the production model of this program. The Hunter AFV is the pinnacle of bleeding edge of technology. In this sense, it can be compared to the AS21 Redback and both vehicles share several characteristics, not the least of which being relatively large size. This bulky IFV offers considerable levels of protection and firepower. It is expected to serve in the Singaporean army in large numbers in the near future with its mass-production having recently begun. You can read more about its history in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the Hunter AFV is a Tier 9 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle. As its description above suggests, it is a rather standard-sized IFV with good levels of protection and excellent firepower (consisting of a 30mm autocannon and a Spike ATGM launcher). It also features a recently introduced type of armor, NERA. Simply put, NERA is an ablative armor kit that deteriorates whenever it gets hit. In other words, the vehicle starts with excellent protection levels but it will lose some with damage taken as the battle progresses. Apart from that, the vehicle is adequately mobile and quite universal. It can, of course, also deploy Mechanized Infantry.
Pindad SBS
The SBS platform is one of the first domestic armored vehicles developed by Pindad (the largest Indonesian armor producer) for Indonesia and is officially listed as a “light tank”. It was developed sometimes in the early 2010s with some prototypes in different configuration appearing in public in 2014 or so. The variant in the game is a long-range MLRS fire support vehicle with a 122mm multi-barreled rocket launcher. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the Pindad SBS is a Tier 8 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle. This AFV is fairly unique, since its main weapon is a multi-barreled rocket launcher capable of firing over obstacles. This makes the Pindad incredibly powerful in both offense and defense. Static enemy targets stand no chance! This vehicle is best used with Commander Ophelia Kitescu and in a platoon – the firepower of such a formation is truly without equal.
K1A1
The K1A1 is an upgraded version of the older South-Korean K1 MBT. It’s a very distant relative of the Abrams MBT with the main difference being the presence of a hydro-pneumatic suspension, allowing the vehicle to tilt itself forward, backward and to the sides.
In Armored Warfare, the K1A1 is a Tier 7 Premium MBT. The combination of a 120mm gun, good mobility and solid armor (all of them roughly the same as the M1A1 has) as well as the ability to mark enemy targets for increased damage make it powerful opponent even in its basic form with additional upgrades readily available.
The K1A1 is also available in the South Korean bundle, which contains:
K1A1 Tier 7 Premium MBT
Korean camouflage
Korean "Squad Leader" decal
You can learn more about the Korean camouflage in our dedicated article.
Type 90
The Type 90 is the current service main battle tank of the Japanese Self-Defense Force. On the outside, it vaguely resembled the German Leopard 2, but inside, the vehicle’s completely different. It was adequately armed and armored for the time it was developed in, but what made it really stand out were its cutting-edge Japanese electronics and its hydraulic suspension, allowing the tank to tilt itself forward or backward, enhancing its gun elevation and depression beyond what the turret would normally allow. This trait was considered to be an important for Japan, as much of its landmass is covered by mountainous areas. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the Type 90 is a Tier 7 Premium Main Battle Tank. Gameplay-wise, it resembles the Leopard 2 and Abrams version of the same Tier. The difference between the Leopard and the Type 90 MBT lie in the presence of an automatic loading mechanism – otherwise, the firepower and protection levels is roughly the same with the Japanese tank having a little less armor, compensated by more module hitpoints. Overall, it is not the best-protected MBT on the battlefield, requiring careful long-range gameplay. However, the advanced electronics installed in this tank as well as its hydraulic suspension allow it to aim faster than all its class and Tier counterparts.
The Type 90 is also available in the Japanese bundle, which contains:
Type 90 Tier 7 Premium MBT
Japanese camouflage
Two Japanese decals
Japanese red flag
You can learn more about the Japanese camouflage in our dedicated article.

We hope that you will enjoy the offer and, as always:
One of the most common requests from your side always has been to be to add more standard PvE missions to the rotation. As we briefly mentioned before, we are planning to add five separate PvE missions to the game and today, we’ll tell you more about them.
All five missions will be taking place in the desert, specifically on modified versions of the Desert Crossing map. Timeline-wise, they’ll take place during the “golden era” of mercenary operations – same as the other standard PvE missions. These assignments will be handed out by Fedor Volkov of the ISD.
You’ll be fighting old and familiar foes such as the NPAA or the PLM. The mechanics of these missions will be fairly simple and the missions will not require the same skill level as Special Operations, with their difficulty being roughly on par with the PvE missions of old.
The following missions will be available:
Desert Path (April 29, 2038): An allied convoy needs to pass near a port occupied by the PLM forces. Your task is to clear the way and secure the route.
Desert Fox (August 11, 2038): The ISD ordered you to infiltrate a Cartel-occupied port and eliminate three high-ranking commanders.
Desert Saber (September 5, 2036): The Lions of Nequiel captured several villages surrounding a local port. You must liberate them as soon as possible.
Desert Strike (June 11, 2039): The NPAA is reportedly preparing air strikes against cities and other civillian targets. The ISD ordered you to assault the enemy airbase and destroy their airplanes.
Desert Viper (September 22, 2035): The NPAA captured a moored aircraft carrier. The ISD sent you to scuttle the ship before it leaves for the open sea.
All these missions will offer standard rewards and will be available as a part of the daily PvE rotation.
Last week, we’ve unveiled the Croatian camouflage that will be a part of the upcoming Merc on Vacation event and today, we’d like to tell you about another prize of it – the Spanish camouflage.
The Kingdom of Spain is, of course, far more than a popular holiday destination. It has been a powerful player on the world stage for centuries, also thanks to the power of its armies. The 20th century had been a turbulent one for the country occupying much of the Iberian Peninsula with a major civil war leading to many decades of dictatorship and democracy returning to Spain only in the late 1970s.
Spain was neutral during the Second World War, although a Spanish volunteer force called the Blue Division fought alongside Germany in Russia. As the tides of war turned, the Spanish support for the Nazis gradually diminished, leaving Spain to focus on its colonies. After the war, Spain would gradually lose the hold over its colonies and normalize the relationship with the rest of Europe and the United States of America, becoming even marginally involved in the Vietnam War. In 1982, Spain entered the NATO and would subsequently participate in several wars and peacekeeping operations, including the Iraq and Afghanistan operations.
The state of the Spanish armored forces reflected this history. During the war, Spain was armed primarily with German equipment, switching to American vehicles after the conflict and receiving almost 400 M47 Patton tanks in the 1950s and a number of M48 tanks in the 1960s. But American equipment often comes with a lot of strings attached and the Spanish learned this the hard way when the Americans forbade them to use their vehicles during the 1950s colonial wars. This led to a procurement wave of the French AMX-30 tanks and, eventually, the Leopard MBTs, which form the backbone of the Spanish armor to this day.
The camouflage we are presenting today is based on a pattern seen on a Leopard 2A4 MBT belonging to Cavalry Regiment "Montesa" No.3 in 2020. This regiment has a long and glorious history that goes back all the way to 1706 and the War of Spanish Succession. Under different names, the unit participated in dozens of wars. Its recent history, however, started in 1965, when the unit was moved to the city of Ceuta, an autonomous Spanish enclave in North Africa, where it is located to this day.
The camouflage is a standard 1986 NATO pattern, but with an interesting twist. It seems that African dust accumulated around the edges of the pattern, creating distinctive sand-colored lines. Perhaps the soldier themselves helped to achieve this effect by coating the camouflage edges with something. Alternatively, the camouflage was applied on a sand-painted vehicle and eventually wore off. Regardless of the reason, the result is spectacular and fairly unique.
Additionally, we’re adding a special historical unit crest as a decal. This crest was seen on many Spanish tank photographs, including those of the Leopard 2E MBT. The crest belonged to the 1st Armored Division (División Acorazada No.1, hence the D. A.), an old Spanish elite armored unit with long history. The unit itself was deactivated in 2006, but its former battalions still exist under different divisions. In combination with a standard NATO pattern or a simple green base paint, you can make your Leopard 2s look like proper Spanish machines.
We hope that you will enjoy these additions to Armored Warfare and, as always:
Between July 15 and 22, 2021, the following items will be available:
Nakidka Skin
Nakidka is a special system, developed in the early 2000s in Russia by the “NII Stali” military research institute in Moscow. In its core, it’s a camouflage made of an undisclosed radio-absorbing and IR-dampening material, intended to make large vehicles such as tanks easy to conceal on the battlefield, even from radars and thermal imagers. The model we have decided to implement in Armored Warfare comes from 2012, when an upgraded Nakidka system was demonstrated on a T-90MS MBT intended for export. You can read more in our dedicated article.
The skin is available as a part of the Nakidka Bundle, which contains the following items:
Nakidka skin for T-90MS
5 Platinum Loot Crates
1.000 Gold
Object 640
The Object 640 is one of the last Soviet era “super tank” monsters, designed to surpass anything the west could field on the battlefield. It featured extremely advanced armor, making it highly resistant to hits while keeping its weight low. The design was truly revolutionary for the late 1980s, but, like with many other Soviet projects of the era, it was discontinued due to the lack of funding. You can learn more about it in a dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the Object 640 “Black Eagle” is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. It is a fast, agile and well-protected vehicle that plays in a typical Russian-style MBT fashion – ideal for players who want to take things up close and personal. This version of the tank does not feature any camouflage and is ready to be customized as you see fit.
The Object 640 Tier 10 Premium MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.
BMPT Mod.2000
The BMPT Mod.2000 is, as its name suggests, one of the earliest models of the famous Russian BMPT series, also known under the name “Terminator.” The word BMPT stands for “tank support combat vehicle,” which is exactly what the machine was designed for – to accompany tanks to battle and support them (predominantly in urban environments) against enemy infantry. It consists of a MBT-class hull (a modified T-90 one) and an unmanned turret, armed with a single 30mm automatic cannon and a single four-tube launcher for Kornet-E ATGMs. This particular model was shown to general public in 2000, but didn’t get much attention. It was overhauled almost immediately to the iconic twin-autocannon configuration that’s being used to this day.
In Armored Warfare, the BMPT Mod.2000 is a Tier 8 Premium Tank Destroyer. It’s a heavy duty vehicle with its hull offering excellent protection for its class. The turret, albeit lightly armored, only takes reduced damage. Even though this vehicle only features a single 30mm autocannon (unlike all the other BMPT series vehicles in the game), this is compensated by the presence of powerful ATGMs that make the BMPT Mod.2000 an extremely potent tank killer.
This vehicle is now available on MY.GAMES Market directly in three different variants:
BMPT Mod.2000 without any camouflage
BMPT Mod.2000 Reaper with a scary black grim-reaper-themed camouflage
BMPT Mod.2000 Sapphire with its hull covered in blue flames
Please note that the latter two camouflages are permanent and cannot be removed from the vehicle if you purchase them.
On the 15th of July 2021, starting from 8:00 CEST (14th of July, 11 PM PDT), the server will not be available for 5 hours due to the application of Update 0.36.8253
