In the near future, we’ll be making several major changes to the AI vehicles and today, in the first part of two articles focused on PvE, we’d like to tell you more about the first one – the addition of wheeled AI vehicles.
Adding these vehicles hasn’t been easy as the engine originally didn’t support their pathfinding. Simply put, they could go forward but not steer properly and were getting stuck all the time. For some time, we considered implementing these vehicles by using various workarounds. For example, one idea was to create “invisible fake tracks” and allow the vehicles to behave kind of like tracked vehicles would have, including turning on the spot and so on.
Naturally, that’s not an ideal state of things and could lead to some strange situations. That is why we took our time and did it right. Wheeled AI vehicles will therefore behave the way they are supposed to.
The obvious question at this point is, how will this affect your gameplay experience? After all, there won’t be more AI vehicles per map, they will just be different.
Right off the bat, we are not interested in making you suffer through more ATGMs. The added wheeled vehicles are mostly armed with guns and we’ll be making sure that the ATGM situation doesn’t become worse, for example by not introducing the most notorious wheeled ATGM launchers (such as the Shadow or Kornet-EM) to the AI pool.
Here’s the preliminary list of the wheeled vehicles we’ll be adding as AI opponents:
AMX-10 RCR
B1 Centauro

But that’s not all. More changes are coming and we’ll tell you more about them in the next part. Until then:
Almost exactly thirty years ago, on January 17, 1991, the last of the great wars of the 20th century had begun. Anyone interested in modern military history is familiar with the basics of Operation Desert Storm – following Iraq’s invasion into Kuwait, an international alliance under the leadership of the United States of America was assembled to face one of the most powerful armies of the Middle East and to liberate Kuwait.
What followed was nothing short of a total victory of the west with the actual fighting taking a little more than a month. Even though Saddam Hussein’s regime managed to withstand this humiliating defeat, the utter scale of destruction and the sheer domination of the western war machine left the rest of the world stunned.
The Soviet Union, in the final stages of total collapse at the time, was all but powerless to help its erstwhile ally in the Middle East, but the war also served as a major wake-up call for China. One can blame the Iraqi results one plenty of factors, but it is undeniable that the incredibly poor performance of older Soviet tech was the matter of more than just inept use – it was a matter of its general obsolescence.
Now, you may be asking, how is all that relevant to Armored Warfare?
The answer is – a lot. This year, in honor of the anniversary, we’ll be launching various Desert Storm-themed contests, special offers and, in a few short months, the entire series will culminate with a major event with its unique set of historical prizes.
We’ll also be releasing a unique set of articles, in which we’ll tell you more about its background, vehicles, battles and many other related topics.
In one of the next Update 0.34 iterations, we will be adding several additional Battalion Contract rewards in the form of new Hades vehicles. The Hades vehicles are premium versions of existing Tier 9 and Tier 10 progression machines and therefore, apart from their unique name and look, they provide their owners with the ability to make a lot of Credits by driving them in combat.
The newest additions will include:
M1A2C Hades – this Tier 9 MBT was recently rebalanced to offer considerably more firepower and protection, resulting in excellent performance despite having to sometimes fight vehicles one Tier higher. The Hades version now adds the Premium vehicle properties to it, which go beyond just higher income, but include improved Matchmaking as well.
BMPT-72 Hades – this is a Tier 9 Terminator vehicle with all its popular features in place; heavy armor, unmanned turret, twin 30mm autocannons and four ATGM launchers, all wrapped up in a neat package. When it comes to sheer firepower, few vehicles come close to the BMPT series, making it ideal for PvE content.
Leopard 2A6 Hades – the Leopard series is the most accurate of all MBTs in the game and this Tier 9 vehicle is no exception. While its hull armor is not the strongest, forcing it to fight at longer distances, its accuracy is almost unmatched in its class and, unlike the other MBTs in the game, the Leopard does not lose a lot of kinetic shell penetration over distance thanks to a special upgrade called Improved Propellant. In short, this tank is, within the constraints of its class, one of the best snipers around.
All three new Tier 9 Hades vehicles can be obtained not only temporarily, but also permanently in addition to the already existing rewards (nothing’s getting removed or replaced).
But there’s one more Hades addition that’s coming along with them:
Type 99A2 Hades – this is a Tier 10 vehicle that is effectively an amalgam of the standard Type 99A2 and its 140mm premium version. It will allow you to choose between two weapon systems – a fast-firing 125mm gun and a slower but more powerful 140mm cannon. This versatility will make it a force to be reckoned with on any battlefield. However, please note that, just like the other Tier 10 Hades vehicles, it cannot be obtained permanently and you’ll only be able to get hold of it for a limited time. After the allotted time expires, you’ll have to complete another contract to re-enable it again.
We hope that you’ll enjoy these new rewards, obtainable via the Battalion Contract system.
Military Bundles (BMPT Mod.2000, Object 187 and T-72B3)
Echoes of War Loot Crate with Battle Coins and Battle Coin Boosters
Between January 14 and January 21, 2021, the following items will be available:
Object 640
The Object 640 is one of the last Soviet era “super tank” monsters, designed to surpass anything the west could field on the battlefield. It featured extremely advanced armor, making it highly resistant to hits while keeping its weight low. The design was truly revolutionary for the late 1980s, but, like with many other Soviet projects of the era, it was discontinued due to the lack of funding. You can learn more about it in a dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the Object 640 “Black Eagle” is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. It is a fast, agile and well-protected vehicle that plays in a typical Russian-style MBT fashion – ideal for players who want to take things up close and personal. This version of the tank does not feature any camouflage and is ready to be customized as you see fit.
The Object 640 Tier 10 Premium MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.
BMPT Mod.2000
The BMPT Mod.2000 is, as its name suggests, one of the earliest models of the famous Russian BMPT series, also known under the name “Terminator.” The word BMPT stands for “tank support combat vehicle,” which is exactly what the machine was designed for – to accompany tanks to battle and support them (predominantly in urban environments) against enemy infantry. It consists of a MBT-class hull (a modified T-90 one) and an unmanned turret, armed with a single 30mm automatic cannon and a single four-tube launcher for Kornet-E ATGMs. This particular model was shown to general public in 2000, but didn’t get much attention. It was overhauled almost immediately to the iconic twin-autocannon configuration that’s being used to this day.
In Armored Warfare, the BMPT Mod.2000 is a Tier 8 Premium Tank Destroyer. It’s a heavy duty vehicle with its hull offering excellent protection for its class. The turret, albeit lightly armored, only takes reduced damage. Even though this vehicle only features a single 30mm autocannon (unlike all the other BMPT series vehicles in the game), this is compensated by the presence of powerful ATGMs that make the BMPT Mod.2000 an extremely potent tank killer.
This vehicle is now available on MY.GAMES Market directly in three different variants:
BMPT Mod.2000 without any camouflage
BMPT Mod.2000 Reaper with a scary black grim-reaper-themed camouflage
BMPT Mod.2000 Sapphire with its hull covered in blue flames
Please note that the latter two camouflages are permanent and cannot be removed from the vehicle if you purchase them.
Military Bundles
This week, we’ve prepared three special Military bundles with real-life camouflages.
The T-72B3 Military Bundle includes (apart from the vehicle itself) the Kantemirovskaya division real-life camouflage and free a Guards Badge decal belonging the elite units of the Soviet army. The camouflage will, of course, come in handy for other vehicles as well. For example, it’s ideal for the T-80U Main Battle Tank or the BMP series of vehicles, since these are used by the Kantemirovskaya division.
The BMPT Mod.2000 Military Bundle includes (apart from the vehicle itself), the Uralvagonzavod real-life camouflage. This camouflage has been used by the company during various events and expos to promote its prototypes and futuristic projects. It therefore fits the UVZ BMPT prototype from the year 2000, even if it appeared years after the vehicle itself. It also fits the rest of the BMPT series available in the game, including the progression Ramka-99 variant. Additionally, the bundle contains a free decal that can be typically seen on various military parade vehicles of the Russian army.
And finally, the Object 187 Military Bundle includes, apart from the vehicle itself, the attractive Volna real-life camouflage (as seen on an actual T-80B MBT in the 1990s) and a decal depicting the crest of the Academy of the Russian Army.

Apocalypse Treasure Trove with 10.000 Golds
Between January 7 and January 14, 2021, the following items will be available:
ZTQ-15
The ZTQ-15 is the current most modern domestic Chinese Light Tank and is reserved for the Chinese military only with its export counterpart, VT-5, offered for export. The ZTQ-15 Light Tank is intended to be used in mountainous regions of China where standard MBTs are all but impossible to operate. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the ZTQ-15 is a Tier 9 Premium Light Tank. It combines excellent mobility with plenty of firepower as well as adequate protection for its Tier and vehicle class. It also features several neat elements that increase its value on the battlefield, such as its active suspension and the ability to launch guided missiles from its gun or its advanced ERA. For players who prefer fast-paced, high-risk and high-reward combat style, it’s one of the best options out there.
This vehicle is available via Loot Crates, which drop ZTQ-15 parts. Collect 100 ZTQ-15 parts from these Loot Crates to assemble the whole vehicle.
This vehicle is also available directly at MY.GAMES Market.
K1A1
The K1A1 is an upgraded version of the older South-Korean K1 MBT. It’s a very distant relative of the Abrams MBT with the main difference being the presence of a hydro-pneumatic suspension, allowing the vehicle to tilt itself forward, backward and to the sides.
In Armored Warfare, the K1A1 is a Tier 7 Premium MBT. The combination of a 120mm gun, good mobility and solid armor (all of them roughly the same as the M1A1 has) as well as the ability to mark enemy targets for increased damage make it powerful opponent even in its basic form with additional upgrades readily available.
The K1A1 is also available in the South Korean bundle, which contains:
K1A1 Tier 7 Premium MBT
Korean camouflage
Korean "Squad Leader" decal
You can learn more about the Korean camouflage in our dedicated article.
K21
The K21 is a modern Infantry Fighting Vehicle, designed to replace the K200 series in the Korean Army. It features good protection and a hi-tech weapon system with the "hunter-killer" capability. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.
In Armored Warfare, the K21 is a Tier 8 Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle. In the game, it is an IFV with solid protection and firepower, but also excellent mobility. It carries Mechanized Infantry.
Apocalypse Treasure Trove

Please note that this item can only be purchased once per user. You can find out more about Gold and its uses in our dedicated article.
