Welcome back to our character class breakdown! Last time we gave you a look at the Cleric and Mystic classes, today, we’re going to look at two of the most unique classes in PWI, the Venomancer and Psychic. Be sure to check back often as we break down all the classes over the course of the next week!

Venomancer

Race
Untamed

Weapons
Wand: Medium Damage
Magic Sword: Medium to High damage
Pataka: Low to High Damage
Glaive: Medium to High damage

Armor
Venomancers can use Heavy Armor or Robe Armor depending on the playstyle due to their versatility. However, their generally low HP make slotting shards that augment you HP levels paramount.

At a glance
Known as the Pet Tamer class, Venomancers are very unique in that they are the only class in the game that can wield Battle Pets. Because of this, many Venomancers usually work alone. However, don’t let that fool you into thinking that a Venomancer isn’t sought after in a Party. Their Debuffs more than hold their own and they have some of the highest damage ratings of any class.

Venomancers also have the ability to transform themselves into a fox. Upon doing so increases their physical defense and accuracy.

PvE
Venomancers usually find themselves questing in PvE alone. This is primarily due to the pets that they have at their disposal. Their pets are able to fill the role of Tank for the Venomancer, so all incoming damage is rerouted to the pet making death a rarity.

PvP
Venomancers are absolutely wicked in PvP; with their pet dealing physical damage and tanking support, and the Venomancer assisting with debuffs and magical damage, fighting a Venomancer is the equivalent of fighting 2 players at once. Skilled players encountering Venomancers in PvP will concentrate their attacks on the Venomancer rather than its pet. Players selecting a Venomancer for the first time should make it a practice to develop good potion and remedy management skills.

In Territory Wars, Venomancers really come in handy. Their Purge skill removes all positive buffs from a target, which sounds kind of useless, but when you square off against a Barbarian, it’s essential since they derive their power from their buffs. Couple this with their Amplify Damage skill which increases a targets received damage by 20% and Barbarians go down easy.

Psychic

Race
Tideborn

Weapons
Soulsphere: Medium Damage

Armor
Psychics rely on their magical damage, making Arcane Armor the only choice for them. Be sure to slot Citrine Shards into gear to augment their HP

At a glance
Psychics are one of the most feared and most complex classes to play. Fast and hard hitting , they possess the highest casting rate and highest DPS of any magical casting class. They also have a unique system called Soulforce which increases the potential to reflect skills and attacks back onto their attacker equal to that of their Soulforce power. When a Psychic’s Soulforce is maxed out, attacking a Psychic is essentially suicide. Couple this with their powerful debuffs and you have a reason to run and hide when Psychics enter the battlefield.

PvE
Psychics tend not to fare very well against groups of multiple attackers in early levels. This however is negligible as the attacks they possess in the beginning hit hard enough that leveling is fairly swift. Using the Soulforce ability, Soulburn, enemies will receive damage equal to your soulforce every time they attack. For attacks that get through while the curse is not active, Life Bubble will regenerate HP. In squads, it is usually preferable to pair Psychics with Wizards for a one two punch of lethal magical damage.

PvP
Psychics are feared in PvP. With Soulburn active, players just cannot touch them otherwise they will die by their own hand. The true reason why players fear a skilled Psychic is because of their powerful debuffs. Their stun spell, Soul of Stunning is the longest stun in the game, locking up players for 14 seconds of uninterrupted death.

In Territory Wars, Psychics go to work repressing enemy skills making even key contributors like the Barbarian useless. They can also make good use of their powerful AoE spells to deal huge amounts of damage to multiple targets. When things begin to look dire, they can cast Life Bubble to heal themselves and nearby teammates.

PvE
Venomancers usually find themselves questing in PvE alone. This is primarily due to the pets that they have at their disposal. With the right kind of pets available, it's like having your very own party without the need to coordinate between other people. Some legendary pets are able to fill the role of Tank, mitigating all incoming damage so that death is a rarity.

PvP
Venomancers are absolutely wicked in PvP; with their pet dealing physical damage and tanking support, and the Venomancer assisting with debuffs and magical damage, fighting a Venomancer is the equivalent of fighting 2 players at once. Moreover, Venomancers pair well with Wizards due to their Lending Hand skill and the Wizards reliance on generating sparks for their spells.

Welcome back to our character class breakdown! We hope you enjoyed reading about the Blademaster and Assassin classes! This time we’re going to take a look at that party essential class, the Cleric, as well as one of our magic casters, the Mystic. Be sure to check back often as we break down all the classes over the course of the next week!

Cleric

Race
Winged Elves

Weapons
  • Wand: Medium Damage
  • Magic Sword: Medium to High damage
  • Pataka: Low to High Damage
  • Glaive: Medium to High damage

Armor
Clerics are essential for any party and need the most magical power they can get their hands on, making Arcane Armor the only choice for them. Gems that augment their physical defense, magical attack and increase their HP are paramount.

In addition, Clerics should also equip magic rings and ornaments that augment their physical defense, as they can stand alone when it comes to magical defense, yet struggle in physical assaults.

At a glance
Essential to any party or squad, the Cleric is one of the most sought after classes in PWI. They possess some of the strongest heals and stat buffs out of any character class, making them formidable not only in a group, but solo as well. They also have the added versatility of magical damage making them a fearsome opponent in any stage of the game.

PvE
Because only Winged Elves can be Clerics, they have the benefit of being able to fly right out of the gate, making world travel easier and less cumbersome. Couple this with their healing and buff skills, Clerics make some of the best PvE players out there, but in a party they truly show off their skill with the strongest party buffs in the game.

Players wishing to fine tune their Clerics as primarily heal and buff machines, should equip a wand for their weapon of choice, as wands augment their heal abilities. Players looking for that combative edge should use a magic sword or glaive.

PvP
Clerics that go on full attack are seen as a bit of an aberration as most Clerics are in the back healing all of the front line attackers. When they do enter the fray, look out! Lots of their attacks come with status debuffs and sleep effects, so they can immobilize entire groups and kill them all with ease. Because of this versatility, Clerics usually make high priority targets on the battlefield.

In Territory Wars, Clerics have one of the toughest jobs, making sure their party is properly buffed and alive while making sure they themselves don’t die in the process. The enemy knows, a party with a Cleric is a dangerous party indeed, so Clerics are usually targeted first.

Mystic

Race
Earthguard

Weapons
  • Wand: Medium Damage
  • Magic Sword: Medium to High damage
  • Pataka: Low to High Damage
  • Glaive: Medium to High damage
Armor
Mystics are powerful magic casters that need all the magical power they can get their hands on, making Arcane Armor the only choice to use. Be sure to slot shards that augment MP, as many of their spells and summons will drain their MP reserves quickly.

At a glance
Mystics are a very unique magic casting class in that they can serve both as off-healer and magical damage dealer. Even though they have a strong arsenal of Wood Elemental magic skills, they also have powerful summon skills that allow them to tap into the other magical elements to wield even more power. They also have the ability to summon plants which, depending on the summon spell, can do everything from buffing fellow party members, to dealing massive AoE damage to nearby enemies!

PvE
Mystics are powerhouses both solo and in parties, their heal spells may not be as strong as those of the Cleric, but they can carry the group when there is no Cleric available. In addition, when fighting against weaker mobs, spells like their Devil Chihyu summon will allow them to to serve as an off-tank adding to their already extensive repertoire. The drawback is though their spells may hit hard, it siphons off their MP rapidly, so making sure a Mystic’s MP meter is full at all times is the key.

PvP
Mystics are a huge threat on the battlefield, their attacks are able to wipe out all their enemies in mere seconds! They are weak against physical attacks so using their knockback skill is crucial to turn the tide of war. Their skill, Cragglord deals huge amounts of damage capable of taking out just about any other class with a few hits. Due to their versatility, Mystics can deal direct damage, or hang back and heal the group when a Cleric is not available.

In Territory Wars, the most common usage for the Mystic is catapult management. Their Bramble Tornado skill can push enemy catapult pullers away while their Resurrection buff is essential for bringing your own catapult puller back to life if they go down.

We hope that you enjoyed this break down of some of the classes available in PWI. Join us next time when we take a look at the unique Venomancer class and the Psychic! All these classes and more will be available when we release on Steam!

Welcome back to our character class breakdown! Last time we gave you a look at the Archer and Barbarian classes, today, we’re going to look at two more we think you are really going to love: The Blademaster and Assassin! Be sure to check back often as we break down all the classes over the course of the next week!

Blademaster

Race
Human

Weapons
*Blademasters can use every weapon with the exception of Bows, Crossbows, Slingshots, Orbs, and Daggers
  • Blade: Fast attack speed, Low to Medium damage
  • Dual Blade: Slow attack speed, Medium to High damage
  • Sword: Fast attack speed, Low to Medium damage
  • Dual Sword: Slow attack speed, Medium damage

Armor
Blademasters can use Light Armor, however, because most of their combat is up close, Heavy Armor is preferable. Slotting Citrine shards to boost HP is a must.

At a glance
The Blademaster is a melee damage class. Always at the front of the battle, Blademasters can hold back a handful of players with their powerful AoE skills. They are the most versatile of all characters in the game. Not only because they have such a wide variety of skills, but also because of their wide variety in weapon choice and stats. Blademasters are the open canvas of PWI to form and build as you choose.

PvE
In solo PvE, Blademasters are probably the strongest class in the game, as their AoE skills allow them to take on multiple enemy mobs at the same time. In a squad, Blademasters serve 3 functions:
  1. Tank – In squads with a Barbarian, they can serve as an off Tank in the event the Barbarian goes down during a boss fight. If a squad is unable to find a Barbarian, the Blademaster can take up the mantle with their high defense and HP.

  2. Direct Damage - A Blademaster should use the strongest skills they have to attack the boss, while also being mindful to not take agro from the primary tank. Three standouts are: Heaven's Flame, Myriad Sword Stance, or Glacial Spike are all great skills, especially Heaven's Flame, as it boosts the damage the boss takes by 55% at level 1, and by 100% at level 10

  3. Crowd Control – Using AoE skills that stun such as Roar of the Pride, the Axe AoE attacks, and the Spear/Sword ranged skills make protecting the members of your squad a much easier task

PvP
Blademasters differ a lot in PvP depending on which path you take.
  • Sword Blademasters are the best path for fighting single targets, but suffer against groups of fighters.
  • Pole Blademaster focuses on damage over time that stack with their normal attacks. Pole Blademasters have the best range of the paths, this makes them ideal for attacking ranged classes.
  • Axe Blademasters are most effective on stunning the enemy and reducing their defense. This path also contains some very powerful AoE’s for crowd control.

Once Blademasters reach the demon or sage cultivation level these paths change. Blademasters who plan to PvP frequently opt to go for the Demon path, in order to take advantage of the increased attack speed that the Demon Spark gives. When they have attained this cultivation level, Blademasters utilize Fist or Claw weapons for single target PvP, and Axes for group PvP. Most players also fight with two or more weapons to take advantage of the stronger skills in that weapons path.

For example, as a Fist Blademaster you might consider using use an axe weapon to take advantage of the extra stun skill that the axe path has. When you have an enemy in retreat, use the axe for stunning, and when the enemy is stunned, you can switch back to fists for the faster damage. This is really easy since you can drag your weapon onto your speedbar for quick and easy switching.

In Territory Wars, the Blademaster serves as the Tank class due to their powerful AoE’s and stuns. Because of this they are usually teamed up with a Cleric to better their chances for survival as more often than not, they are one of the primary targets by enemy squads.

Assassin

Race
Tideborn

Weapons
  • Daggers: Fast attack speed, Low to High damage

Armor
Assassins are a dexterity based class, therefore, Light Armor is a must. They are able to equip Heavy Armor, however dexterity and not strength determine their damage output, so Heavy Armor will give them a reduction in damage as it will make Assassins less mobile.

At a glance
Assassins are a stealth based melee damage class. They rely on evasion and concealment to sneak up on their enemies and finish them off with hard-hitting attacks that sometimes contain bleed type effects. They are a bit fragile so the element of surprise is almost necessary when taking on enemies in both PvP and PvE.

PvE
Due to the Assassins lack of defense and low HP, starting out in PvE can be arduous, so they will need to use defensive buffs as well as multiple potions and charms to maintain their HP. When taking on mobs of multiple enemies, the genie skill, Earthflame is very useful.

All of this changes once Assassins get to level 89, where the Wolf Emblem skill ups their critical strike rate with their dexterity level. They also benefit from HP recovery with the Bloodpaint skill, couple this with their ability to stealth out of danger, and the Assassin truly shines.

PvP
The terror of the PvP battlefields, their critical hit skills make them one of the most dangerous opponents one on one. However, because of their lack of AoE skills, and low HP, they do not fare well up against a group, so they must rely on deception to get their foes in single combat.

In Territory Wars, Assassins can kill very easily when unnoticed. They should hang back in the group in stealth to pick off their enemies while their attention is on stronger targets like Barbarians.

PWI Class Break Down

PWI is releasing on Steam soon, and with its release we will be welcoming a whole new generation of adventurers. Before we open the gates, we want to give those of you who may be new to our community a look at some of the races and classes available when you create your first characters! Over the course of the next week we’re going to be giving you breakdown of all 12 classes!

Archer

Race
Winged Elves

Weapons
  • Slingshots: Short Range, Medium Attack Speed, Medium Damage
  • Bows: Medium Range, slow attack Speed, Low to High damage
  • Crossbows: Long range, slow attack speed, Low to High damage

Armor
Archers are a dexterity based class, making Light Armor preferential. When slotting shards into their gear, use Citrine as they will need Physical and Magical defense.

At a glance
Archers are a ranged physical damage dealer class. The primary role of the archer is at the back of the party unleashing a flurry of arrows upon the enemy. Not only are archers able to deal physical damage but they also deal metal magical damage. This makes them very flexible damage dealers, add their high critical hit percentage, and you have one deadly sniper.

PvE
Because only Winged Elves can be Archers, they have the ability to fly from right out of the gate making travel at early levels much easier.
When solo or grinding, archers can work uninterrupted with their variety of knockback, stun, and slow skills. They also have two shields at their disposal: Winged Shell and Wings of Grace. Winged Shell is most useful at early levels; however, it remains means to escape damage at high levels but usually in moments of last resort.

Archers are good damage dealers to have in a party for instances. Their Sharpened Tooth Arrow skill, will reduce a target's maximum HP by 16%. The effect can be increased to 20% with the sage version. Making this skill crucial for quickly dispatching bosses. Blood Vow, will reduce max hit points by 18% as well as increase damage taken by target by 25%.

PvP
At the low to mid levels, archers are the best overall damage dealer due to their range, and fast physical/magical damage. At higher levels, when classes become more balanced, archers are most effective at removing Clerics, Wizards, and Venomancers from the field of play.

In Territory Wars, Archers are crucial as they help to kill the enemies fast and push them back. The skills Sharpentooth Arrow and Barrage of Arrows are two of the most important skills here. Sharpentooth Arrow are used mostly on Barbarians to lower their max HP so they can be removed from play quickly. Barrage of Arrows is the best AoE skill that archers have. It can kill a group of weaker players or be used to destroy catapults.

Barbarian

Race
Untamed

Weapons
  • Poleaxe:Fast attack speed, Low to High damage
  • Polehammer: Fast attack speed, Low to High damage
  • Dual Axes: Medium attack speed, Medium to High damage
  • Dual Hammers: Medium attack speed, Medium to High damage

Armor
Barbarians are a Tank class making heavy armor a must. To increase their damage intake they also can equip ornaments that augment magical protection and physical attacks. Their armor is usually slotted with Citrine gems, for the increased HP.

At a glance
Barbarians are essential as the Tank in any party. They have very high HP as well as very high physical defense. They can level the field of play with some of the most powerful AoE skills in the game making them the most sought after addition to any party. Barbarians also have the added bonus of being able to transform into tigers, which increases their HP and movement speed.

PvE
A barbarian can be very slow to level, at low levels due to his low accuracy, However, the level 29 blood bath skill doubles the Barbarians accuracy making the task of leveling much easier. The barbarian is also not a good fighter against magical attack mobs due to low magical defense. However in a party for dungeons, raids, or boss fights, the barbarian is invaluable. A barbarian's job in a party is simply to take damage and make sure that only he takes damage. The Barbarians skills: Flesh Ream and Roar allow the Barbarians to hold agro when the situation calls for it.

PvP
PvP is where Barbarians really shine. The more a barbarian levels, the stronger he gets. They can hold their own wherever they go, but at later levels, they become almost impossible to kill one vs. one. The only enemy barbarians really need to fear then are wizards and psychics, but even they can have a hard time killing barbarians without backup.

In Territory Wars, barbarian's role is usually to act as catapult carriers. This is an important task, as most of the damage to the enemy comes from the catapults and are vital in order to win. As attacker the barbarians are in a class on their own with hard hitting AoE skills Armageddon and Sunder because of these skills, they usually find themselves the primary targets when the attack commences.

We hope that you enjoyed this break down of some of the classes available in PWI. Join us next time when we take a look at the Blademaster, and Assassin classes! All these classes and more will be available when we release on Steam!

Community Announcements - pwe.community

With our upcoming release on Steam, we’ll be opening the flood gates to a new generation of players. We would like to take this time to welcome you to our community! A lot has happened over the years, so we thought it might be best to give everyone a small refresher (is refresher the right word if you’re talking to a new community?) on the fabled story behind PWI and the forces driving it today!

Ladies and gentlemen, the story thus far…

In the beginning of time, the first God of the universe, Pan Gu, lived an immortal life. But with no subjects to lord over, Pan Gu grew tired of his solitary existence and decided to decompose his body into five elements: fire, metal, wood, earth and water. With his divine power, Pan Gu forged these elements into air, land, mountains, rivers, seas and plant life and laid the foundation for a new world. It was then that Pan Gu made his first attempt to fill this new world with life. From his shadow he formed the first sentient beings. These unnamed creatures were uncivilized, and before long, they began corrupting the world around them. Pan Gu saw that what he had created had become an Imperfect World, and moved quickly to rectify his mistake. He built a floating city known as Heaven's Tear, and placed within the city the few creatures that had yet to be corrupted. Then, with the power of water and wind, Pan Gu created a massive flood, which swept through the land and destroyed all life in its path.

The world now cleansed, Pan Gu set about creating a new world, one filled with beings who were capable of Spiritual Cultivation. Between these races he created, the Perfect World was created. The chief quality that Pan Gu gave all three races was free will. He vowed never again to eradicate an entire species, so all conflicts between the races were to be resolved amongst themselves. One such conflict arose when humans and elves discovered the city of Heaven's Tear. A war erupted as they fought for control of the great city, bringing out the worst in both races. As the war intensified, and neither side relented, a new threat emerged.

The race that was thought to have been eradicated in the great flood returned in full force. These creatures were not quite living, but not quite dead, and thus came to be known as wraiths. The wraiths appeared to possess a singular objective: to destroy the other races and corrupt the beautiful world around them. Rumors swirled that the wraiths were capable of possessing other living things. Not much is known about the true nature of this evil, but one thing is clear:the races of this Perfect World must set aside their differences and unite to preserve their way of life, halt the spread of corruption, and above all, protect the land from which they came.

Over the next few weeks, stay tuned for more peeks and previews to help get everyone caught up when we open the gates to this Perfect World.
