Conan Exiles - Ymir
Greetings Exiles,

2022 was another exciting and challenging year for the Conan Exiles team. The game saw quite a few changes in both free playable content, content delivery, and business model. Your feedback and engagement with the game has been incredible throughout these changes. I wanted to share a recap of how 2022 shaped up and where 2023 will be taking us.

First of all, let me introduce myself. I am Rod Harper, the new Project Director for Conan Exiles. I came to the project early in 2022 to manage the production of Conan Exiles. As a long-time player, I was excited about having the opportunity to work on it. Having worked as a game developer since the early 90s, I have seen my share of games being made and worked with many different teams. Working with this particular team has been incredibly rewarding and the sheer amount of support and passion from the community has been equally satisfying.

In September, we achieved significant new milestones for the game. We introduced Sorcery as a prominent new feature, allowing the player to learn and exercise magic for the first time. The second milestone was the introduction of the Battle Pass and Black Lotus Bazaar system. The Battle Pass allowed players to progress and earn in-game items and rewards by completing challenges. At the same time, the Bazaar gave players opportunities to buy cosmetics and in-game items using the new Crom Coins store currency.

In addition to those changes, we further expanded the in-game events, now known as encounters. We improved the building system to make it more streamlined and accessible for all platforms and controllers. The building system has seen some fantastic improvements that have made building structures more enjoyable. Overall, the community has given very positive feedback on these quality-of-life changes.

The new Sorcery feature, as well as the expansion of new encounters, were also well received. However, the new Battle Pass and Black Lotus Bazaar received mixed results; this was primarily due to concerns with the switch from paid DLC to an in-game store model. Even though the Battle Pass allowed players to earn and unlock several free items in-game by completing challenges and earning XP - the pricing of items in the Bazaar is an on-going concern among players. With that in mind, we are evaluating our pricing strategies compared to other games. One much-needed addition that will be forthcoming with the Age of Sorcery — Chapter 3 update, will be regional pricing on Steam. This will allow players to use their local currency to purchase Crom coins, making the currency exchange rates more convenient to our players worldwide.

With the accomplishments mentioned above also came some challenges. One challenge we continue to have is with system performance across the board on all platforms, especially consoles. In 2023 we are focusing more on optimization and bug fixing to improve the player experience. Our development team has already been working on performance optimizations on the consoles, and we recently released an interim performance update on the Public Beta client, which will go live before the release of Age of Sorcery — Chapter 3 that will address several issues on all platforms.

We have also started devoting more attention to the modding community with recent updates. With the release of Age of Sorcery, several last-minute fixes and changes delayed the release of the ModDevKit to modders. This was not ideal and we would have preferred more lead time for the modders to evaluate the changes. Our development team did work with several modders to help them get their mods working with the new release. However, we heard the feedback and in future releases, we will be communicating more about changes affecting mods with better advanced notice, along with releasing updated documentation.

As a community, we saw continued growth with more dedicated streamers on Twitch and YouTube and our dedicated community of content creators. We were also happy to provide some Twitch Drops with Festive Crested Lapdog, a Festive Hunt Trophy and a Snowflake Wall Paint. These were earned by viewing any Exiles streamer that had Twitch Drops enabled on their streams.

So, what can you expect in 2023?

We have so far released the first and second chapters of the Age of Sorcery in 2022 which will wrap up with the release of Age of Sorcery — Chapter 3. Following that release, we will move into the next Age with a new set of game features, a new story, and new Battle Pass and Bazaar items, in the same chapter-based release cadence, and these will continue to be free updates to the game.

2023 will be an exciting year with new challenges for the Conan Exiles team, but one we are eager to tackle. The Conan Exiles team is dedicated to this game and providing you, our community, with a fun player experience. Your feedback is always welcome and encouraged. The team looks forward to seeing what new and amazing things you do in Conan Exiles in 2023 and the years to come.

Greetings Everyone,

90 years ago, in December 1932, The Phoenix on the Sword appeared in Weird Tales. This was the first Conan the Barbarian short story to be published by Robert E. Howard. Since then, the world of Conan and the legend of his adventures has only continued to grow.

Exiled, Unconquered, and... Chop Chop!

Today, we celebrate this anniversary by highlighting the rich videogame legacy of Conan through The Conan Bundle, which includes Conan Exiles, Conan Unconquered, and Conan Chop Chop:

Conan Exiles – Survive, build, and conquer in a vast savage land.
The online multiplayer survival game, now with sorcery, set in the lands of Conan the Barbarian. Survive and explore a vast open world sandbox, build your home into a kingdom, and dominate your enemies in single or multiplayer.

Conan Unconquered – Defy the wrath of endless hordes with strategy and strength.
From the Command & Conquer veterans at Petroglyph comes the first ever survival RTS set in the savage world of Conan the Barbarian. Stand against the innumerable hordes with the strength of your army, heroes like Conan, and in a last resort, the colossal Avatar of Mitra himself. Defend your stronghold solo or together in co-op.

Conan Chop Chop – Thrive and die gloriously in frantically funny top-down battle.
Charge into a party roguelite for 1-4 players full of mayhem, loot, and adventure. In this outrageous take on Conan the Barbarian, you are the muscle-bound hero foolish enough to try and stop the evil wizard Thoth-Amon!

With both the Winter Sale (50-60%) and additional Bundle Discount (10%), this is a fantastic opportunity to explore these three games. If you already own any of them, buying the bundle will simply add what you are missing. Please note that The Conan Bundle includes the base games, not expansions and DLC content.

The anniversary and Conan Bundle aren’t the only reasons to celebrate. Released this month, you can pick up the first Conan novel in over a decade – Conan – Blood of the Serpent, by S.M. Stirling.

It’s time to raise your sword and plunge into the savage world of sword and sorcery, myth and monsters.

From the whole team here at Funcom, we wish you an amazing holiday!

  • Fixed a number of crashing issues.
  • We have optimized grass occlusion to not cause performance issues. Therefore, you can now go touch grass safely.
  • Optimized Lava Wall spell to be less intensive on performance.

  • Addressed an issue that could cause delivery issues when purchasing Crom coins on the Playstation JP version, EGS and MStore.
  • Reverted armor previews on the Bazaar to show static images while we address an issue with the 3D preview.
  • Addressed an issue where one Ancient Obulus would disappear from your inventory after dying. Charon's obol this is not.
  • Fixed a number of visual issues with some armors. This should also address an issue that caused the Khitan Exile set not rendering on consoles.

  • Updated the game credits with some corrections.
  • Fixed icons for emotes Viking Horn, Handstand and Watching You, which honestly sound like an epic party.
  • Behold! The healthbars for your enemies are red again just like Crom intended.
  • Similar to the above fix, players within the range of a Battle Standard should have their healthbar color updated correctly.

Greetings Exiles,

Age of Sorcery — Chapter 2 has arrived, bringing new features, a new Battle Pass with new Bazaar items, Twitch Drops, and a story recap. There’s a lot to dig into, but first, take a look at the brand-new launch trailer!

Headhunting

The world of Conan Exiles gets ever more dangerous and filled with new adventures. With the rise of sorcery, new arrivals to the Exiled Lands have taken notice, and are searching for anyone mad enough to hunt these sorcerers. Find their camps strewn across the world and accept their bounties.

Hunt across the land for sorcerer NPCs and bring them back dead or alive. A skull is fine, but living flesh will grant a larger reward. Get valuable resources, armor pieces, and more.

Witch Hunt Encounter

As you explore the world, watch out for the new Witch Hunt Encounter, which comes in one of four flavors of evil sorcerer to defeat. Succeed in bringing one of these bosses down for a huge reward.

New Battle Pass and Bazaar Items

Explore a range of new cosmetics in the Battle Pass and Bazaar, including the new Stormglass building pieces, new armors, weapons, decorations, pets, and more! New challenges tied to Headhunting and the Witch Hunt encounter have also been added.

Twitch Drops

From today until January 3rd, 2pm UTC, you can watch Conan Exiles streams on Twitch to earn free and exclusive rewards. All you need to do is link your Twitch account to Conan Exiles, which you can do through a handy button in the in-game menu.

Twitch Drops include: a Snowflake Wall Paint, the Festive Hunt Trophy, and the Festive Crested Lapdog (he’s beautiful).

The Story So Far

Discover the context of some of the events through each page in the Battle Pass. Dive into the video and relive the Chapter 1 story before continuing Chapter 2.

We’ve summed up the biggest news here, but please jump over to the patch notes for a full rundown of the new additions, fixes, and improvements.

Thank you for all you do in Conan Exiles. We cheer with every bashed head, sacrificed thrall, and base constructed. The team is incredibly excited with today’s content and everything we have in store, so grab your weapon and go take some sorcerer skulls. And if you are a sorcerer yourself, well, less competition doesn’t hurt.

Good hunting!

Exiles!

We hope you’ve had a great time with Age of Sorcery so far, sinking your teeth deep into all the new systems introduced Chapter 1 and finding out the powers within Sorcery. With today’s update, we’re starting Chapter 2, where we introduce a new Encounter type (psst, Events are now called Encounters!), Head Hunting!

You can now find head hunter contracts where you will have to hunt down nefarious Sorcerers hidden in the lands. It will be your choice to bring them back dead or alive! With this new Encounter we are also adding a new special encounter, Witch Hunter. Explore the lands to find more about it! This update will also introduce a new Battle Pass revolving this mechanic, with new challenges and rewards, as well as a new batch of items for the Bazaar.

Along with that, we are also starting our pet companion rebalance. This will be the first step in revising pets moving forward, with the intention of bringing them up to a level where they can be at a similar level to other followers. There will be more changes to come in future patches, so keep an eye out!

And of course, with this new update we are releasing a bevy of bug fixes to reported issues, including fixes to the most common crashes, fixes to texture and invisible issues reported with the release of Age of Sorcery and much more.

We hope you have a great time exploring all there is included in this new Chapter. Stay safe!

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING MODS
Please remember that updates can mess with the functionality of your installed mods. We suggest taking a backup of your current database before updating to any new patch if you have mods installed.

Hunt down dangerous sorcerers and bring them back for rewards...dead or alive!

We're revising the stats of your animal companions to make them a more viable choice in your adventures!

Chapter 2 brings a brand new Battle Pass track, with 60 levels to progress through offering new and exciting rewards!

* New encounter type: Head Hunting!
* New encounter type!
* New Battle Pass and Bazaar items!
* Bug fixes!
* …and much more!

Our team had such a fun time going through each one of these and seeing the creativity was mindblowing. But also, INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to choose.

We’ll be showing the winners for each category, along with some honorable mentions. If you don’t see your lovely creation here, please share it here and/or on social media and tag us! We know the hard work, time, and effort put into each one and want other Exiles to see them.

The winners will be contacted shortly to inquire about prizes, so if you are listed here please keep an eye on your email.

Again, huge round of applause to everyone who submitted a building and taking the time to participate; we hope you had a fun time making them! We’ll be sharing a lot of these throughout the next couple of weeks on the Conan Exiles Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and implore you to do the same.

This certainly won’t be the last building contest we’ll be hosting and we can’t wait to see what you all do then. Cheers!

Greetings Exiles,

The 3.0.5 hotfix patch is out and it’s a pretty short one to read as most of our changes were made in the backend.

  • We have made some backend changes to fix certain instances of Crom Coin purchases.
Conan Exiles - Dana

  • An exploit regarding the crafting system has been fixed.

  • The Arcane Bookcase was able to get more items than it was supposed to. This has now been fixed and the item has been changed to its normal values.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the usage of the illusory items obtained from ‘Illusion Scroll - Khitain Captain’

  • Illusions previously applied to an item will now not show if you equip them without owning the entitlement, as intended.
  • Gurnakhi and Fiend armor would turn appendages invisible. This has now been fixed. We are sorry for the trauma.
