To start with, you may notice these notes aren’t as long as the ones recently pushed on TestLive. This is because the branch on TestLive requires a little more testing due to the changes and fixes made. However, we did want to roll out the AFK system and crash fixes before the weekend. So here we are! This is version 97865/17844

Notes:
  • Localization fixes - text spills are now fixed for several item descriptions
  • Various crash fixes
  • Introduced the new AFK system - players will be kicked after 30 mins of inactivity

Server admins can use the following server settings for the AFK kicker:
  • KickAFKPercentage = 80 (integer value, between 0 and 100). The percentage controls how many players need to be logged on before the system starts to kick people. So if set to 80 then you need 32/40 players logged in before it will start to kick anybody.
    If set to 0, the system should be off.
  • KickAFKTime = 2700 (integer value, in seconds). X is the amount of seconds of afk before a character is kicked, for example KickAFKTime=60 will kick people after 1 minute of afk

In addition to rolling out new and various servers, this AFK system should help with freeing up space to those who want to get on a particular server. Please don’t hesitate to give us feedback on this or anything else you see! After further testing has been done, we’ll roll out another patch with the other fixes from TestLive.

Quality of Life improvements
  • As an admin you can now explicitly whitelist players by SteamID
  • Player names now show up further away
  • Players who go AFK will now be kicked from the server. Added two server settings, one for how full the server should be and one for how long until kick if idle and server is full
  • Auto-target should now prioritize enemies over clan mates
  • Added PvE-Conflict mode to the server type selection screen
  • Changed default tethering distance for PC

AI
  • Thrall follower will no longer return to original position if player disconnects while thrall is set to follow. Instead, the thrall will hold its position
  • Fixed a problem with NPCs getting stuck in doorways
  • Follower thrall should no longer walk backwards when set to follow the player
  • Fixed a problem with thralls not being able to attack after unequipping weapons during combat
  • Humanoid NPCs should no longer wield weapons and shields outside of combat
  • Fixed a problem with thralls no longer able to follow you if you logged out while thrall was in following mode

Optimization
  • Improved streaming performance
  • Optimized the number of database queries related to corpses/unconscious bodies
  • Optimized orb effect combo cost

General bugfixes
  • Fixed a navigation problem for the server browser
  • Fixed language cut-offs in inventory view for several languages
  • Fixed a problem with server browser whereby servers did not list if max ping was cleared
  • When inspecting a thrall, the “Equip” button will now correctly equip items from either the players or the thralls backpack on the thrall

Server settings

Hello Exiles,

Exciting news from the Funcom team: We'll be adding up to a total of 300 more official servers during the next few days. That covers all regions and all platforms! We are also introducing PvE Conflict servers for both South America and Oceania.

Development wise, we are still focusing on performance improvements and crash fixes. Additionally, we've started looking at QoL improvements, suggested by you, the community. You can expect to see some of those on TestLive fairly soon!

Hey all! Thank you so much for your continued feedback and reports. We will continue to roll out patch for all platforms to improve the game. Fixes include:

  • Redshell plugin removed
  • Server browser: PvP-F now shows as PvE-C
  • Fixed a crash in character creation
  • Fixed a problem where health went back to max after taking damage
  • Fixed auto-lock and dodging sometimes happening on the spot
  • Blunted Javelin no longer does concussion damage in melee (only throwing)
  • Elixirs and some other buffs no longer get cancelled as if they were healing buffs
  • Fixed a crash caused by lootbags
  • Fixed a crash that could happen when building near destroyed placeables
  • Fixed a crash in the decay system

In addition, South American servers #1976, #1986, #1996 have been moved to a new data center with better hardware successfully and are back up.

IMPORTANT:

This is a message for everyone who has had issues with their servers having really long loading times and respawns taking several minutes. This is especially an issue for servers running on machines without an SSD.

We have discovered an issue with the unconscious bodies that are loaded on a server restart. It is causing heavy load on the game database.

If you are having these issues, we suggest you turn off the unconscious bodies by adding the following to your servers ServerSettings.ini
LogoutCharactersRemainInTheWorld=False

We will be turning this off for all our official servers until a patch with a fix is ready. At which point we will remind you to turn it back on.

UPDATE: These South American servers have now been moved to newer hardware in a new data center. Please continue to report any issues you may with these servers in the future.

Three of our South American servers (1976, 1986 and 1996) will be moved to a new data center with better hardware. We're moving them there as a step towards solving the issues we're seeing with those three servers. There's no ETA on the arrivals of these servers, but we will keep you updates on the progress.

Conan Exiles

The survival game bandwagon is looking more and more like a plague cart these days, with the stillborn corpses of quickly forgotten Early Access titles tumbling to the muddy wayside with every jolt along the genre's increasingly rutted pathway. But it rumbles dutifully on, some not-quite-dead-yet deliveries still to be made before the axle inexorably splinters and the wheels fall off, sloping into decay on some forsaken hillside.

After the island horror of The Forest, the latest stopover on survival gaming's painful journey from domineering towards indifference (and, eventually, no doubt, back again) is the Hyborian Age. Devised way back in 1932, it's the fictional epoch that services Robert E. Howard's Conan adventures, making Exiles the first - and, in all likelihood the last - survival game to be adapted from an established franchise by a studio that's long been associated with it. It was Funcom of course that brought us Age of Conan back in 2009, which though not the first IP-laden game of its kind, was suitably Conan-like in its informal approach to the design of lady armour.

In line with its persistent predecessor, Conan Exiles continues the tradition for naked flesh and raw bloody combat, which may be less of a thing in a genre where avatar nudity and blunt force trauma are commonplace, but then Funcom always finds a way to play upon the fact that Conan's world will forever be out of sync with modern sensibilities. To that end Exiles succeeds in getting our hackles up thanks to its character creation options, which famously afford the ability to tweak the pendulousness of a chap's chap or a lady's lumps. What really bothers me about it however is that you can't change much else. Aside from basic options for height and muscle tone, that's your lot. If you were hoping to sport dinner plate alveoli or effect a scrotum slider that allows you to trawl the sand for edible bugs, you might want to let your berserker rage kick in about now.

Hello everyone!

It’s been a very hectic but also very exciting few days for us here at Funcom and I’m sure for all of you playing as well! It’s amazing seeing so many people joining us after launch, but all this interest has also created some challenges we’ve had to work through.

First, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us during our journey from Early Access to launch. Your support, your interest and your excitement for Conan Exiles is greatly appreciated by everyone on the team.

During the first day of launch, the sheer amount of demand for official servers compared to demand for private servers exceeded our expectations and we reacted as fast as we could to find solutions. Since then we have almost doubled the total number of servers and we are working with our hosting partner to bring up even more servers as fast as possible.

Unfortunately, it’s been impossible for us to bring up new servers fast enough to meet the overwhelming demand, and that led us to the decision to revert the less populated PvE Conflict servers (which are PvE with PvP window and non-destructible buildings) into full PvP servers where the demand was significantly higher. We knew it wasn’t an optimal solution, but it felt like the right decision at that moment to meet the demand for more PvP servers. We were in a situation where we were unable to add new, fresh servers fast enough, and we had to make a tough decision.

Since we made this change we have received a massive amount of feedback from players. Your passionate reaction made it very clear that there is significant interest in servers with the PvE Conflict ruleset and we have been looking for solutions to bring them back.

In addition to introducing more PvE and PvP servers (which are still in highest demand), we will be also be bringing up new and fresh PvE Conflict servers. We decided to set up new ones to avoid disrupting the existing servers again. We will start with bringing these up in Europe, East and West Coast US, and Russia, and you can expect them to be live before this weekend.

We will also be adding PvE Conflict severs in other territories based on demand and as soon as we are able to.

Finally, we just want to say that we truly appreciate all the feedback we have received since yesterday. Our community team has been working very hard going through all your comments and passing them on to the rest of the team. Thank you for your patience and thank you for voicing your concerns and giving us the opportunity to set things right.
