We recently changed the class icon of the Berserker, which might have caught you a bit by surprise. In the following, we would like to explain our reasons for doing so and also present a few more concepts and suggestions, about which we would love to hear your opinions!
Why do we want to change class icons at all?
The redesign of the class icon stems from the desire to better represent the unique ability that distinguishes each class.
The Berserker's axe, which can also attack with all other hand weapons, does not capture its class; its defining ability is to mercilessly strike at its opponent in a state of frenzy, and we want to try to visualize this.
In the Hall of Fame, it's desirable to make the icons in the smaller version more readable and intuitively recognizable, so that at first glance it's clear which opponent one chooses.
What was important to us about the Berserker class icon?
The icon of the Berserker is a special challenge because it is about representing an emotion, namely frenzy, which we associate with heat and fire, without giving the impression that the Berserker has a fire attack.
In addition to the class icon, there is the option to also adjust the effect if this better represents the effect of the ability, we tried to avoid this in the first step, but we do not rule it out!
What would we like to receive in terms of feedback?
We are aware that the community has gotten used to a certain icon and it's unfortunate to have to relearn this icon for each class with every update, so we are now taking this path to better consider your feedback in the redesign process and to arrive at the best possible solution.

During the Hellevator event we have observed a problem which we call the "trojan horse". It seems some players leave their guild shortly before the end of the Hellevator to take away their personal hell tokens which then do no longer count for the guild's ranking points and may lead to a lower ranking of a guild.
In order to find solutions, we have prepared a survey.

The expedition event in this beta does not represent the final release. The reason for this is the idea to gather extensive player feedback through early testing.

Closed Beta Facts
We will provide a key with a specific amount of registrations (500). The principle will be first come, first serve. Once the limit has been reached, you won’t be able to create an account anymore. Some personal codes may be distributed on Twitch or YouTube, though. Keep your eyes open!
The next closed beta (browser only) will start on Wednesday, 14 June 2023 at 4PM (CEST) and will be open for 7 days.
The next closed beta test is up and coming. This time you will have the chance to explore a new event we have created, an alternative way to spent thirst for adventure: the expedition event. In this producer’s note you will get some more background information about why we developed this event.

What are the goals of the new expedition event?
Shakes & Fidget celebrates its 14th anniversary this summer, and the quests have been with us for just as long. They are an important feature of the game to let your character make progress every day.
We have realized that this consistent routine of consuming thirst for adventure every day doesn’t provide the fun many players want.
Instead of developing a new feature that would increase the daily playtime and would require an additional investment, we have come up with an alternative for spending thirst for adventure. We followed the following guidelines:
In late game, it must mean fewer clicks to spend thirst for adventure than the current mechanic. Spamming the enter key must still work.
The mount should not only decrease the waiting time, but also increase loot.
Players should still be able to decide whether they would like to focus on resources or XP (to the same extent as it is currently implemented in the game).
The loot you gain per thirst for adventure spent must remain the same.
It’s supposed to feel like you are actually on a quest where you make decisions yourself to have more control over the outcome of the quest.
An alternative method to spend thirst for adventure will be planned as an event during which you won’t find pet eggs, but dungeon keys.
That’s why we developed expeditions!
Expeditions take the conditions mentioned above into account and we would like to test with the beta how this alternative to classic quests in the form of an event is received.
For this, we have introduced a new NPC, an elderly explorer who will lead expeditions during the event from the counter of the tavern.
Each expedition has a special task that will reward the player with extra heroism upon completion.
The mount reduces both waiting times per expedition and increases the rewards of the final score, but it does not decrease the thirst for adventure cost as classic quests do.
On a total of ten clearings, the player must pick one encounter each to advance. Spending thirst for adventure on expeditions unlocks new encounters only after a certain number in order not to overwhelm the player.
