Vampire King Drachus is back in a new daily boss fight! Earn pieces of his legendary armor. Of course, you will need to get through his swarms of bats, army of vampire guards, and blood golems first!



You asked for it and here it is! This is our FIRST FULL SET of armor added to a Daily Boss fight. You can earn all of the pieces of this leveled armor set and upgrade it from Uncommon to Epic rarity. The cloak is by far the most challenging piece to acquire. Alternatively, you can buy the cosmetic version of the Eternal King Drachus set for DragonCrystals.

Gold Dragons, Cursed Pirates, NecroKnights, Lava Brakens, mysterious mind controlling creatures from beyond the known world.... each day a random daily boss fight is chosen. Each offers monsters and boss to earn special gear.

You can go to today's Daily Boss fight using the Adventure book in your main menu!



The Daily Boss Fights change each day. Be sure to check for when this one appears. When it does, you will arrive in King Drachus's throne room and be able to talk to the adorably wicked Count Mogula to get access to the quest, crafting, and shop.



This week's release also included the "Big Unity Update" which upgraded all of the code, art, and items in the game to a newer version of Unity. It was a scary big upgrade. We do it once a year. If you spot any bugs or weirdness, please hit the report button and let us know. We also did a round of improvements on the intro of the game to help new players. The treasure filled Pyramids of the Sandsea desert is coming next. The first part of this new saga is going up on the PTR for testing this weekend. If all goes well, we will be heading to the cat-and-lizard-people filled town of Bastion next week.

Unlock ShadowSlayer X in the Darkovia saga to access the new ShadowSlayer II Rank Quests. Reaching ShadowSlayer Adept II rank unlocks the Daily Bounty Hunt quest. The new ranks and new ShadowSlayer items require a new Token called "Monstrous Blood" which is dropped off different bosses in the Darkovia areas (both outdoor and Dungeon Bosses). The Daily Bounty Hunt quest awards Fangs, Blood Fangs, and Monstrous Blood to help you rank up faster.

This week, we are doing our yearly "BIG UNITY UPGRADE". This is where we update all of the code, files, art, animation, maps, and, well, everything to the newest "long term support" version of Unity. It is a massive task and possibly one of the hardest things we do each year. It is also an important one. This is how we keep the game's code base up to date and also gain access to new tools and features from Unity. Sometimes people forget that we do not just build one set of things. We have different versions of everything for each platform: PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. We have farm of computers at the lab which we call the "cloud builder". It is pretty smart. When we create a new item, we send it to the cloud builder and it creates a version for each device using all of the right settings. So we will be using that to update every item to the newest version of Unity. Meanwhile, a massive bug hunt is underway as we make sure all of our code works. (Spoiler: It never does.) The next version of AdventureQuest 3D will be our shinest new one yet!

Also, we have put the petal to the metal on the Sandsea. You have have seen some of our art sneak peeks on social media. I will post a bunch of new ones for you here this week to see the maps and new monster races. Until then, ShadowSlayer W's wicked looking black shadowslayer armor set is up for grabs.

In this epic clash, you and other heroes will have to work together to overcome the Werepyre’s devastating powers, as he unleashes the full might of his Vampire and Werewolf abilities on you! Try to stay alive during the battle, or you’ll have to fight your way back to the arena. Also, during the fight, keep an eye out for any glowing seals that appear. The seals are ShadowSlayer X's way of evening the odds during the battle, though you'll want to run over to them quickly before it's too late...

The war between the Vampires and Werewolves has waged on for as long as eternal night has engulfed the land of Darkovia. But all of that is about to change. The Blood Moon is rising... and the prophecy says whoever holds the "Eye of Night" during it will rule absolute.

But no one expected you. Your arrival changed everything for these fanged factions. Now, under the rising Blood Moon, you created an opportunity for the one thing no one ever dared consider... peace. As you read this, the leaders of the Vampires and Werewolves prepare to meet in the town of Darkhust. All eyes are on you.




Safiria, Queen of the Vampires rules the vampires with her beloved husband, Vlad, at her side. He is far less optimistic about the truce. The same goes for her army of well geared and highly trained vampire knights. Hatred for the Lycans runs deep. The prophecy says that it is their destiny to obtain the "Eye of Night" by the Blood Moon... as it will give them the power to rule over all. But they are loyal to their Queen, who is risking everything for this one shot at peace.




Constantine is the King of the Werewolves. Far more feral and aggressive than their undead foes, it is no secret that most Werewolves do not believe there is any chance for a truce. But Constantine is strong and wants what is best for both his families. He is the only one to keep the Werewolves in-line through the wisdom and help of his father-like mentor, Senator Sevro. The Lycans have a slightly different version of the prophecy. It says that whoever holds the "Eye of the Night" will hold the power of Lycans and Vampires in their hands.




ShadowSlayers are professional supernatural creature hunters. Towns hire them to protect them from the unspeakable things that go bump in the night. ShadowSlayer W protects the town of Darkhurst and is heralded by the townsfolk as a hero. He does not trust the Vampires nor the Werewolves. He is making a backup plan in case this meeting of "peace" under the Blood Moon goes bad.

The town of Darkhurst has suffered greatly during the war. A little boy named Wes was bitten by both vampires and werewolves. There was a longshot cure and you took it... but who knows what will happen as a result. (Just a reminder: Time moves faster in that place where you took him.)

"I choose you Werewolf-chu!" In this new mini-game, you are the boss of a team of Werewolves. Defeat other player's teams by choosing which of your monsters goes into the pit to fight next. You can grant your werewolf gladiators powerups to give them an edge. Win bravely and earn Ragnar's golden armor-- restored to its original, pristine condition. Talk to Keeli in the Werewolf Coliseum to begin.




On the topic of lunar things... this Friday is the Lunar New Year! To celebrate the Year of the Ox, Winnie created some festive gear to celebrate. You can get it from Saber in the social district.

By popular player request, we added a custom mouse cursor in the newest version of AdventureQuest 3D. It changes as you mouse over things. We also fixed monster health bars, bank search, and some of those party issues.

Carnaval (or Carnival), in real life, is a week long festival celebrated across the world, but most famously in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There are bright costumes, floats and parades, and dancing in the streets! Carnival has been celebrated in Brazil for over a century... and in AdventureQuest Worlds since 2012... it's about time we brought it to AQ3D!

It is almost here! Here is a sneak peek of reward items from the challenge boss fight. As the Blood Moon rises, the leaders of the Werewolf and Vampire factions prepare to meet. Korin has been burning the midnight oil on the animations. The team is building the boss fight adventure for the finale of our Vampire and Werewolf saga. We are aiming at having the release up on the testing server this weekend (cross your cold fingers) and then releasing it for everyone to experience next week. The exciting challenge fight will follow.

Do you know why the vampire and werewolf filled land of Darkovia is shrouded in eternal darkness? In this week's release... you will discover the truth.



You will find the secret in the most unlikely place... A place you likely never thought to go. Or have you? Have you ever gone into the basement in Boog's tavern?



The Vampires and Werewolves are preparing for a mysterious event known as the Blood Moon. Many believe this lunar event will grant one side the power to rule over both... ending the war of the fangs once and for all. At least, that is what the prophecy says.



The Vampires and Lycans each have different versions of the prophecy. No one knows which one is right yet. But one part is the same in both versions. To fulfill the prophecy... either the Werewolf King or the Vampire Queen must possess a lost artifact called the "Eye of Night." But if you have played our other games, you may recognize it by another name... *gulps* in this week's release, you are going after it.



The Mayor! Yes, Darkovia's Mayor is a treasure trove of hidden secrets. And he owes you a big pile of gold. Claiming to be trapped in the town and Father two two very peculiar children, questioning him may be the key to understand what is really happening here.



Stop by Winnie the Tailor's shop in town. She knitted some sort of mitten gauntlets.



We have been listening to feedbck and have a few noteworthy things coming soon including a non-scaling dungeon option, mouse pointer for Steam players, more bank tabs, more friend slots, and more. The next major game feature update will be next week.

Meanwhile, Korin is working on the epic Darkovia Finale cinematic cutscenes. There have been some hiccups ("bad Unity 3D, bad!") but we are fighting through them and getting close. I cannot wait for the finale! (...and the Boss challenge fight that will be unlocked after.) The Blood Moon release will take place right in the center of Darkhurst...
