Journey to the vampire and werewolf infested forest of Darkovia to begin your journey from Darkhurst, through the crypts of Vampire Castle, to the throne room of the Werewolf Coliseum.

The original Darkovia was split into multiple questlines using our old system. We merged it all together into one, unified, easy to follow, story. this means, all players will need to start from the beginning. Which is great-- because you will get all of the story XP to help you level up, or gain level capstones.



The Lycans are ruled by the Were-King and the council of Senators. They are in command of the legions of werewolves who battle against the vampires.

Fans of history may note the Roman Empire-like structure of the Lycans. From their military ranks to their love of the Coliseum, their laws & honor code supersede their feral instincts.



To the Lycans, "might makes right". Theirs is a culture of strength and power. All matters are solved through combat in the arena.



The Coliseum is a place of blood and sand. There, one can earn their place with victory... or perhaps even ascend to the throne.



Darkovia forest is a place of perpetual darkness... but it has hidden beauty. Upon completing the Vampire's story, you will gain the ability to enter the giant stone wolf-head doors to this place... the Werewolf Alcove. I would not recommend eating the mushrooms.



Whether you intend to embrace the curse of lycanthropy or merely ally yourself with the wolves, craft these items to show your loyalty.



Protected by their ghostly ancestors, deep with in the Lycan's library... you will find the old laws inscribed on stones. I am not saying you could stage a take-over with these rules... but, you probably will. Also, the werewolves have an alternative description of the prophecy of the Blood Moon. Things are getting interesting.



Werewolf and Lycan... they mean the same thing. Lycan is a word that comes from "Lycanthrope", which is the curse that makes you into a Werewolf. In our world, it is appropriate to call them by either title.



We hope you enjoy this new storyline release. Next up, will be the Werewolf Coliseum challenge fights with new gear. Then, it is time for the climatic finale. Werewolves and vampires will embrace their true destiny in the climatic finale.... Darkovia 5: The Blood Moon.

Social and Monster Chess Maps are now available in AdventureQuest 3D!

Ok, so the story goes like this. Artix has been watching a TV series. Monday, he enthusiastically charges into the AdventureQuest 3D staff chat going on and on about how badly we need a chess board in game. "You know, like the one we built for AQWorlds!" It just so happens that some of the team needed an extra week to finish up the Darkovia release. Yergen said, "Sure, I can build it... but I want it to have the vibes of a certain wizard movie franchise." Then Dagger & Llussion start talking about how it would be cool to add monsters, but make them activate based on loose chess rules. We debated on whether it would be better to just have a social map with no monsters or a challenge... and then decided: "WHY NOT BOTH!?" Then Winnie made an entire set of Chess themed armors so you can use them in player-run Chess Matches. And this is why we are writing to beg you... STOP RECOMMENDING TV SHOWS AND ANIME TO ARTIX ON TWITTER!



It's a huuuuuge Chess Board map. The game pieces are monsters. You can only attack pawns (the little ones in the front) on your opening move. Defeating this challenge without party wiping will take some strategy...



Each side has a King. Your goal is to defeat one of them. Once you do, all of the other pieces will return to their starting position and a treasure chest will drop.



The reward treasure chest will drop a random armor featuring a Chess piece on it. Perfect for use in a live player vs player chess match!



You can build a trove (free collection) of all the black & white pieces. So you can switch to any chess piece if needed in a live match.



We are neck deep in Vampires and Werewolves! Prepare to enter the Werewolf Coliseum in the continuation of the Darkovia Saga... it is coming next. Also, the devs have chat bubbles, daily quests/tasks, and other features getting close to release. We hope you are enjoying our weekly releases. This week's is a small but interesting one. Guardians currently have early access to create a new guild (Requires level 10 and 10,000 gold) before it opens to all players. Anyone can be invited to join a guild.




The first phase of guilds introduces a foundation that we will continue to build on. Guilds choose both a full guild name, and also a 3 to 5 letter guild tag which will appear next to your name. Top features include cross-server guild chat and quick transportation to your guild members. You can read all of the details on....

Ultimately, every player will be able to create a guild from the new Guild section of their main menu. For this initial release, we have granted early access to Guardians. Allowing Guardians to create guilds first solves a few issues-- it rewards them for keeping our servers online, allows them to secure their guild names, and also creates a smaller number of guilds so that we can better address bugs and problems.

Any guild leader or officer can invite you to join their guild. Simply hit accept. Once you are a member of the guild, you will see the guild tag next to your name. You will also be able to access guild chat and talk to your guildmates... even if they are on different servers. We added a tab in your chat box just for guild talk. Also, of course, we added a toggle switch to ignore guild invites in case someone gets spammy.




We are certainly going to be increasing the size of guilds in the future. You will need a larger guild to achieve some of the guild-wide tasks we have been planning. For this initial release, however, you will have a starting max guild size of 20 players.
Promote Guild




In this first release, Guild Leaders will be able to assign the roles of Members, Officers, and Leaders to members of the guild.


Yup. It is easy. Members of a guild can leave at any time. There is no penalty. The leader of a guild can disband their guild. If you are a guild leader it will ask you to give the leader position to someone before you can leave. If you want to disband the guild, remove all of the members first and then leave... which will make the guild go POOF!




The first priority is creating a strong foundation for Guilds. Once we have done that, we will be able to add any number of features. (Some ideas include acquiring land and building a castle with your guild, PvP war with other guilds, and guild levels that come from working together on guild quests.) Long before that, we will fix whatever issues are discovered and introduce some vital (and currently missing functionality) from being able to rename your guild, assign more ranks to guild members, and all of the other things you soon desire.

We hope guilds make it easier to play with your friends. This is the most important goal of this new system.


We have been watching players creating the guilds in real-time, and have been cracking up at the clever names. You have also been coming up with a lot of great suggestions for guild features you would like to see next. We have been fixing bugs and issues as they are reported and are currently working on a patch to resolve some of the bigger ones. We are off to a great start-- thank you for being a part of this.

New map for live events & player-run fun called "Hero Hangout" has been added to the Travel Crystal. We created this map after seeing Gold Raven's player-run PvP tournament. Figured you guys would like to have a big open area with some arenas in it. Also, the devs snuck a few new "toys" into this release for live events.

A new Shrade has appeared every Friday the 13th... but this one is the most terrifying of all! Do you dare step foot in Camp Gonnagetcha this weekend knowing he is on the loose? (He is dropping his entire set though...)




Shrade-O is just as deadly as his previous incarnations at Camp Gonnagetcha. He has a more powerful alter ego too, named Shrade-O Extreme-O. Both of these clowns have a chance to drop items for their armor sets, but Extreme-O can also drop a Clown Face Kite pet and a Clown Stripe Kite Pet. If you aren't too scared, go find Dottie on the Battleon Bridge and she'll help you find your way to camp. I can't guarantee that you'll make it back out...





This is a real childhood story of one of our developers. It is about Yergen. He is the lead of the content team here at AdventureQuest 3D. When he was a little boy, there was a clown that would come to his school. The clown was named Bake-O. And yes, oh yes, Bake-O peddled bacon. For real. Everytime he said the phrase "Bacon Bits" he would honk a horn for a Pavlovian response. He performed magic tricks and told jokes. He would stop in the middle of his performance and say, "Do you know what I really like? ...Bacon bits!" At the end of his show at the school he would give every child a little vial of Bacon Bits. We are not sure what psychological effects Bake-O the Clown had on Yergen... but if you catch a wiff a little bacon scent coming from Shrade-O, then... well, you are now one of the few people with the insider story.

Can you survive a Level 31+ Lich challenge boss fight designed by Dagger? It is going to take a well geared party, grit, and a serious amount of strategy.
Noxus Fight

You and your party must face off against Noxus the Lich and all of his summoned creatures, with their deadly new skills. He saved his most deadly powers for this...

Be warned. You can NOT do this alone. You'll need a full party and plenty of strategy for this one.




We've raised the level cap maximum to 31 for this release. The epic-quality gear you will find in this release are the most powerful items in the game. They are designed to give you a massive advantage through Darkovia and the first Pyramids of the upcoming Sandsea Desert.

Game Dev Note: Originally, the plan was to raise the level cap with Darkovia and then again with the Sandsea-- but after much debate, we decided to raise it one level now with this gear, and then we wait until the Sandsea starts where during the story it will go to 35. Every major saga thereafter will raise the cap roughly 5 levels.
Level 30+ to Enter




Noxus won't let anyone less than worthy face him again. This is a non-scaling level 31 challenge... you must complete the story and be at least level 31 to enter the challenge. If you dare... walk up the steps in the lobby to find the door that will take you to the fight!




"So yeah, a whole lotta high level players are gonna.. X_X"

Dagger's previous boss fights include the Tengu fight, Trollenstein's Lab, and he also designed the fight sequences for the battle concerts. When Artix asked him if he would do the Lich fight-- crazy requests for grasping hands, bone bridges, and even some game engine level requests started. The results speak for themselves. This challenge party wiped our group made of devs a half dozen times till we started figuring out the strategy for the fight. Artix will never be able to post the video of that team test because... LOL, we would have to bleep out the whole thing XD. It is intense!




If you manage to defeat the Lich Noxus, a SKULL Treasure Chest will spawn. All of the rewards have stats for 30 level players. No Scaling. You have the chance to get each piece of Noxus' High Lich armor set, weapons, and are guaranteed some Empowered Soul Stones which you can use in the Necronomicon for pieces you didn't get in the chest... after many runs of the dungeon, of course.

• Bring Your Friends: Get a group together and play a private instance.
  
• Pre-game: Don't run into straight into the fight. Especially on mobile. Take time to strategize with your party in chat if you can.
  
• Constant Communication: If you can, use Discord or some other voice chat service to communicate with each other throughout the challenge.

Also, this Friday is a Friday the 13th... and rumors are that "Shrade-O" will appear in Camp Gonnagetcha.

The new AdventureQuest 3D version (1.59.0) just dropped and the Starter Classes got improvements, Treasure Chests are now stuffed with new items, and parties can join dungeons together. (An important step for our upcoming dungeon finder system)

"We've heard your feedback about adding more skill to the game's combat. To address this, we've made changes to the starting classes to give them a more defined role, and spruced up the combat engine to make every encounter a more dynamic experience for you all. " - Rabblefroth

• War Cry (Passive) is now a resource called Fury. Every spell grants 25 Fury, and at 100 Fury the next spell has +50% Power. Base Power of spells has been adjusted to compensate.
  
• Auto Attack is now a 3-hit combo that deals more damage on the final hit.
  
• Sever - Aggro bonus from damage increased from 0% to 75%
  
• Whirlwind - Armor Break amount increased from 15% to 30% and duration reduced from 8s to 4s

Mage has been heavily updated to be more active and give choices instead of just casting whatever spell is off cooldown. It uses Channeled spells that apply damage over time but require you to stand still, making positioning and planning important. We also wanted your Mana to matter, while keeping the feel of having an infinite amount.

• Leylines (Passive) - Increases Haste by 10%
  
• Fireball - Cast repeatedly to build Fire Aspect, increasing damage. Every third cast launches a powerful exploding fireball
  
• Ice Spear - Cast repeatedly to regain Mana and build Ice Aspect, increasing Cast Speed. Every third cast launches a conjured lance of ice at your foe, Slowing and dealing Frost damage over time.
  
• Lightning Storm - Channel lightning into your target, Stunning with the initial blast.
  
• Meteor Volley - Channel to summon devastating meteors to annihilate your target and the surrounding area.

• Rogue
• Auto Attacks - Now a 3-hit combo that applies 2 stacks of Poison on final hit.
  
• Poison Strike - Applies 3 -> 2 stacks of Poison (Rank 6: reduced from 4 to 3 stacks)
  
• Poison - Power per stack changed from 16 to 20, and duration increased from 4s to 5s
  
• Scorpion Sting - Power reduced from 90 to 80
  
• Heavy Poison - Power per stack increased from 32 to 35 (Rank 8: increased from 37 to 40), time damage is dealt over is reduced from 6s to 4s

• Dragon's Breath - Aggro bonus from damage increased from 50% to 100%

When party leaders join public dungeons, the rest of the party can join the same instance. This is a vital part of the upcoming dungeon finder.


Expect to visit the reaper... X_X Dagger is building a level 30 fixed challenge Lich Boss Fight. It features two brand new brutal boss skills. The rewards are worthy of it... both in stats and appearance. Meanwhile, the AQ3D content team has been focusing on the Werewolf Coliseum (Darkovia Part IV). The maps are nearing completion as we are fang deep in cutscenes and NPCs. The coding team is working on phase 1 of Guilds and the Dungeon finder.
