Talk Like a Pirate Day is THIS MONTH!
Lolosia is the 1st part of a 3-part saga featuring pirates, ninjas, an underwater city, the Braken, and of course.. undead parrots. "Polly want to... eat my brains?" Also, whatever this thing is Dage made concept art of which is DEFINITELY happening.



It is almost time... Pirate class will be released for all players to earn, the port Town of Lolosia will open up granting you access to a Pirate Ship and high adventure across the oceans of Lore. On the dev side, we just got phase I of pets working, new settings and options, and we are testing monster telegraphs-- which means you can see their attacks so you can dodge or counter them.

Hope you are looking forward to all the pirates, ninjas, and giant cyborg-cannon-shark-things we have coming your way in September in AdventureQuest 3D.

Well met friend! With tonight's AdventureQuest 3D server restart we now have 5 Daily Boss fights in rotation. Each day, a random boss fight will become available for 24 hours. To take on the boss, simply talk to Twilly, the red mogiln on the tree stump in town. See you in game! - Artix

Carnivera, the Venus HeroTrap
Rumor has it that something terrible is lurking in Bladderwort Glade. An enormous mutation of a seed spitter... and its seeds can turn even the most hardened hero into a mindless plant-zombie.


Daily Boss Fights.... OK, that "S" might be a bit pre-mature.
Talk to Twilly in town to check out the Boss Fight of the day! He has a daily quest where you can earn a Boss Fight Trophy. Needless to say the goal is to have a different, random, boss battle each day-- but right now we just have this one. So, give it a try and we will add more bosses very soon!



The Balrog Blade
Artist Darkon re-imagined & crafted the AQWorld's "Balrog Blade" into 3D. All players can earn this by collecting Daily Boss Trophies.



Bladderwort Glade is officially the first place to support grass in AdventureQuest 3D for PC & Mac players. (Not to be confused with that grass we released in the intro last week that turned all of our game graphics on iPhones pink.) We made two changes to the grass shader... first, it now blends into the ground. Second it has a nice gradient and some subtle randomization. When you walk over the grass, it should react by being pushed by your feet. Feels pretty good!

We will be re-adding grass to the Town of Battleon and the Intro next week.



It is official... the NEW INTRO IS A WIN!

Thank you for all of the love and cheers for AdventureQuest 3D's new intro. If you have not played it yet, simply login... it will be the first thing that happens when you hit play. Our new big baddie, Vane the Voidking, certainly made an impression... so much that another video game designer called me up to tell me how jealous he was of the games new villain. After the intro went live, our numbers jumped across the board. Our day 1 retention alone increased over 25%! I am really proud of the team's hard work and creativity on this. We are already working on what is coming next...

We are giving our base classes an art upgrade!
The Warrior, Mage, & Rogue just got shiny new art. If you LOVED the old armor... do not worry, you can still get it at the Founder's Sanctuary. Soon, you will be able to quest from the class trainers in the town of Battleon to get the full sets including that pointy wizard hat, leather hood, and wicked spiked shoulder armor. This is the intro the game deserves

We put a lot of heart into this... and we really hope you love it! Imagine yourself as a new player as you experience it for the first time. We aimed to give existing and new players a taste of our humor, show off how big the world is (and it's going to be), introduce the main villain, and reveal your purpose. All of this... in a very short, single sitting.

Once you complete the short intro, return to Death's Lair (called Grim Outlook) using the Travel Crystal to begin Death's Challenges. They unlock new items & titles. We will continuously be improving, tweaking, and adding onto this as we raise the level cap. Next week we will be continuing the main storyline, adding Daily Boss challenges to the Town of Battleon, and more things-- be sure to read about them on our game website http://www.AQ3D.com . Version 1.10.0 "Grassy Blades of Death" is here!
Be sure to grab the newest update of AdventureQuest 3D from Steam or the App Store. Here is what is new...

This release KICKS GRASS!
...literally. We added support for grass and when you walk over it, it moves. However, none of the maps actually have any grass in it (yet). Grass will be added to the Town of Battleon and outside of Death's lair in the next release. You can toggle grass in the settings.

New Friends Interface
"Let's be better friends!" From your friends list, you can now directly invite someone to your group, or goto them, or summon them, or send them a whisper. (Thank you to MJ from Massively Overpowered for making me realize how important this feature is for playing together.)

Fixed news button disappearing after map change
Apparently, "No news" is NOT good news. This has been fixed.

Bizzaro Character Deformations Fix!
There was a glitch that caused players to bend into unholy positions and break things for other players in the game. Zhoom added checks to prevent this "asset distortion issue".

Spy on other player's equipped items
What the heck is that player wearing? Now you can know. When you inspect a player you can now see their equipped items-- both actually equipped and cosmetically equipped.

Dual Wield Hand Cannons
The game now supports all the features required to release Pirate and Alpha Pirate. This is, of course, our first dual wielding hand cannon class. This is a new equip slot that all players will have. But will only be usable by classes that use hand cannons.

Mobile Features - Joystick and Auto Run Toggles
By popular demand we have added the option to lock the joystick in place and enable disable auto run. You can auto run on mobile by double tapping the joy stick.

Combat Improvements and Balance Updates
"Don't you hate it when devs write something like this in the patch notes and then do not give any details?" So here are the details....
  • The game will now only show other players' status effect icons on your target. Spells that only do damage / DoTs will not have their icon shown. This is to clear up some icon clutter on the target.
  • Area of Effect abilities now deal 10% less damage or healing to their 2nd target, 20% less to their 3rd target, down to a minimum of 50% damage to their 6th or more targets.
    • To compensate, AoE abilities have had their base power increased. The result should be that these spells do nearly the same or more damage to 3 or fewer targets, but less to a larger number of targets.
    • Targets are damaged in order of highest aggro.
    • Targets are healed in order of lowest percent health left.
  • Class Updates
    • Warrior
      • Whirlwind power: 90 -> 100
    • Dragonslayer
      • Final Descent power: 275 -> 310
    • Paladin
      • Holy Shield damage reduction 35% -> 25%
      • Divine Judgement power: 175 -> 200
    • Guardian
      • Guardian's Hope base power: 40 -> 55
    • Necromancer
      • Soul Transfer: Souls on kill 10 -> 15
      • Soul Siphon power: 70 -> 60 + Enhanced power: 90 -> 80
      • Grand Summon taunt duration: 5s -> 3.5s

UI Updates
By popular request the action bar is now bigger. But the bad news is there is less space for your chat window. But the good news is the chat window pops up above the bar to give you more space if it does not fit!

Android Users!
AdventureQuest 3D now requires you to be using at least Android 4.4 (Kit Kat). A very small number of players who are not using Android 4.4 or higher need to update your OS in order to play the new version of the game.

Support for new intro (ALMOST!?)
The new intro "DEATH'S LAIR" requires a few new features. Most are in this build, but we need to roll out at least one more early next week in order to release the new intro and begin AdventureQuest 3D's Main Storyline. So, as a little teaser to get you in the spirit, we updated the game's title screen with a special sneaky peak for you. Battle on!
