Deliver Us The Moon - WIREDGary

Dear astronauts,

In celebration of Deliver Us The Moon’s launch on Xbox One and Playstation 4, we’re releasing patch 1.4.2 for PC which introduces a new ASE colour customization feature! Access it through the main menu to change the colour of the wing stripes, eye and thrusters of your ASE. Furthermore, Kickstarter backers can use this feature to select a number of Kickstarter-exclusive skins. Show us your favorite ASE creations on our social media!

In addition, this patch includes some small changes:
  • Fixed a bug that would prevent ambient sounds from spawning when loading a checkpoint.
  • Elevators in Copernicus Moonhub’s vehicle bay will no longer both move when interacting with an elevator button.
  • Further improved RTX performance. For example, certain materials are now excluded from Ray Tracing, slightly improving Ray Tracing performance in some cases.

We hope you’re staying safe and inside, and that playing games can grant some reprieve in these trying times.

Best wishes from the KeokeN Interactive and Wired Productions teams!

Dear astronauts,

Patch 1.4.1 is now live! This minor update serves to remedy various RTX-related issues. The technology is still brand-new and in constant development, so we’ve worked closely together with the engineers at NVIDIA to help iron out the RTX issues that we’ve seen and that you’ve reported on our boards. If you’ve experienced any crashes and black screens before this update, let us know if it’s better now!

In addition, the patch includes a number of small fixes:
  • The astronaut no longer gets unintentionally stuck in walk-only mode when nearing the malfunctioning door leading out of Tombaugh’s crew quarters.
  • The first draggable cart inside Tombaugh, used to gain entry to the crew quarters, no longer despawns when the astronaut moves the cart slightly and then returns to a previous section of the level.
  • The second draggable cart inside Tombaugh can now be moved closer to the elevator doors (inside the crew quarters’ maintenance area) before the elevator controls are disabled.
  • Minor improvement to ray-traced shadows in particular areas.

Hey Astronauts!

Today we lift-off with the release of a breath-taking GeForce RTX update, plus a live stream where we'll be telling you how you can win an unforgettable trip to the Kennedy Space Center along with the chance to win your own RTX 2080 card!

Deliver Us The Moon utilises the full potential of the latest version of the Unreal Engine 4, alongside Microsoft DirectX Raytracing and NVIDIA DLSS technology, to deliver stunning real-time ray tracing and global illumination and one of the most graphically immersive worlds ever seen from an independent studio.

Watch the RTX trailer now:

We’re incredibly excited to finally bring GeForce RTX to Deliver Us The Moon. This incredible technology truly allows us to launch the game to new heights of visual fidelity. We’d like to thank our amazing community for their patience and hope they like what they see.

Patch Notes

If your graphics card supports RTX and DLSS, make sure that you’ve updated your drivers. Then, simply head into the game’s Settings menu to enable DLSS. To turn on Ray Tracing, first select DX12 from the settings and restart the game. Ray Tracing requires DX12, so the Ray Tracing option in the Settings menu will remain greyed out until DX12 is selected and the game is restarted.

It’s worth noting that RTX is a very novel technology that’s only supported by recent versions of Windows. If the Ray Tracing option remains unavailable to you after updating your drivers, selecting DX12 and restarting the game, check your version of Windows by pressing the Windows key + R and typing ‘winver’. RTX requires:
  • Windows 10 Redstone 5 or later;
  • Version: 1809, 1903, 1909 or later;
  • OS Builds 17763, 18362.535, 18363.535 or later.
If you’re uncertain how your version of Windows compares to the above, you can find a full version history of Windows 10 on this Wikipedia page .

If you experience any difficulties while updating your system, try running the Windows Disk Cleanup tool to clear old update files. The Microsoft update assistant (available here) can provide further assistance. Finally, this article can help you resolve any other issues you might run into while updating Windows.

Implementing RTX and DLSS has required us to upgrade Deliver Us The Moon’s engine, Unreal Engine. The official upgrade, combined with our custom additions, has given us the opportunity to further improve performance and apply various quality of life improvements throughout the game. For example, improvements to level streaming and shadow casting have significantly reduced hiccups and fps drops. A selection of additional changes and bugfixes are listed below!
  • The electricity puzzle in Pearson Space Station is now more forgiving.
  • An extra feedback prompt has been added to the Tombaugh Quarry to clarify that the jump button can be held to increase jump height and distance. Similarly, WASD key prompts are now shown during the ASE repair puzzle in Copernicus Moonhub.
  • The logo introduction during game start-up can now be skipped.
  • The ‘Skip cinematic’ button is now hidden until a key is pressed.
  • Quicktime Events’ button prompts now turn blue when pressed on time to provide extra feedback.
  • The boundaries of a hologram area now only appear when a hologram is actively playing.
  • Fixed various localization bugs. Most notably, altering the text language in the Settings menu now correctly changes the language of the control scheme and the few remaining instances that were previously unaffected by the setting.
  • Fixed a rare bug in Tombaugh that caused an infinite loading screen or black screen when loading the game at a particular checkpoint.
  • Fixed a rare bug that prevented the second unlockable audiolog from playing after the first credits.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Copernicus Moonhub to become unselectable in the Level Select menu after selecting Copernicus Outpost first.
  • Fixed a bug where the pushable cart would teleport on top of the astronaut when pushing the elevator button in Tombaugh.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the astronaut to fall through the reactor tower elevator’s floor in Tombaugh.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the lunar rover to sometimes respawn on the wrong side of the level when driving out of range.
  • The astronaut is no longer unable to click on astrotool buttons when standing in some door openings.
  • It’s no longer possible to walk out of Tombaugh’s reactor chamber and locking yourself out after inserting the Helium-3 canister.
  • It’s no longer possible to (accidentally) freeze the pushable cart and block the way deeper into Tombaugh.
  • It’s no longer possible to unload the Copernicus Moonhub level by flying ASE into the small conveyor belt tunnel between the vehicle bay and the lobby.
  • It’s no longer possible to fly ASE through certain walls of Copernicus Outpost and Tombaugh.
  • It’s no longer possible to teleport back into the cockpit chair while loading Pearson Space Station.
  • Fixed several spots where the player could get stuck on the collision of a mesh.
  • Various small fixes and improvements to level geometry.

Powered by Unreal® Engine 4, Deliver Us The Moon is set in an apocalyptic near-future where the Earth’s resources have been depleted and humanity looks to the stars. Nations band together to create the World Space Agency - an organisation tasked with solving the extreme energy crisis. The solution: colonization and exploitation of the moon’s natural reserves of Helium-3 to serve the energy needs of a growing Earth population. Suddenly, and without warning, communications with the Moon cease, and the energy source is lost. Plunged into darkness and without power, years pass as world governments come together once more to embark on a new mission - to re-establish the energy supply and, with it, hope for the human race.

Deliver Us The Moon - KeokeN Interactive
Dear Astronauts,

It's high time we shared an update with you all about RTX support! We know many of you are eager to dive in and experience Deliver Us The Moon on a whole new level.

We're proud, and humbled, that Deliver Us The Moon is one of the first games supported by NVIDIA to bring in RTX. RTX amplifies what's so essential to the game: the sense that you're out there, alone, working on something that's much bigger than yourself. There's something truly stunning about seeing your own, realistic reflection in the windows as you stare into space. We've always dreamed of seeing the moon's majesty and desolation for ourselves, and with the folks of NVIDIA helping us out, we're getting one step closer every day.

So when do we plan to release the RTX patch? Working with NVIDIA's incredible engineers has made us realise that so much more is possible than we'd imagined. The technology is brand new and in constant development. This means we keep getting better and increasingly exciting results, but also that we need to keep changing and adapting. For that reason, we haven't locked the release date quite yet.

We've got the full team, supported by NVIDIA, working on this every day. We're passionate about giving you all the best experience possible, both in terms of aesthetics and performance. That's all that matters to us, and your continued support and encouragement mean the world (and the moon) to us.

Stay tuned for a full mission brief. The countdown is coming and we'll provide another update in the coming weeks to let you know where we are!

Cheers from the KeokeN Interactive & Wired Productions teams!

Deliver Us The Moon - Rashura

Dear astronauts,

It’s been one week since we’ve launched Deliver Us The Moon. You’ve sent your rockets into space, braved dangerously unstable space stations and made your way through derelict facilities on the moon. It’s time for an update!

For the past week, our main priority has been two-fold. First, we’re working hard to implement RTX. It’s something we’ve been doing for some time now, and we just need a little longer to get it right aesthetically and functionally. We know a lot of people are waiting to see this technology in action, and we can’t wait to let you all dive in. More news and a release date will be published soon.

At the same time, we’ve received specific feedback about the final gameplay sequence. Particularly, you’ve raised concerns about its performance and difficulty. We hear you and have tweaked it to perform better and be more forgiving. On our side, we’re seeing significant improvements and we hope you find the results equally satisfying.

In addition to the above, we’ve kept a close watch on the forums to see where issues arise. Important tweaks and fixes include the following:
  • Balance and performance improvements to the endgame sequence (as mentioned above).
  • ’The Aquanaut’ achievement has been fixed and is now attainable again.
  • Overall performance of the Tombaugh level has been improved.
  • Text appears as it should again on Korean systems.
  • Oculus no longer starts running when the game is launched.
  • Camera sensitivity will no longer erroneously set itself to a value that renders mouse input unresponsive and practically unusable.
  • Pushable objects can no longer fall through the level by using ASE.
Enjoy!

Please be aware that an old notification from last year may pop up! Please ignore this for now!
