Congratulations to EtaN, winner of Tournament XXVIII!
Perhaps more than any other player, EtaN excels at exploiting the smallest of margins to pile up big victories. Always managing to be a tiny bit faster, a fraction more efficient, or a hairsbreadth more accurate. The gaps are small, but added together they widen the gap between champion and contender.
EtaN's cannon finding the skillgap in Hallrassy's base to devastating effect
In second, Der Benzinpreisvergleicher relentlessly fought for map control in every single game. The state of the match reflected in the size of their ever expanding bases. It's an exhausting style of play that carried them all the way to the finals.
Der Benzin methodically taking control of a mortar matchup vs Helicopter
And in 3rd place, Dranistian once again demonstrated their versatility. Selecting one of the widest assortment of commanders and strategies out of any competitor. Seep missiles, Hurricane mortars, Scattershot 20mm, Firebird rockets, just to name a few.

Congratulations to Dranistian, taking their second consecutive title and third overall. Runner-up Poolboy, still amongst the most prolific players in Forts. And Helicopter with a Bronze medal to add to their collection.
While the top 3 places receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze, every player finishing within the top 20 will receive a Season 29 Medal. Congratulations to all medalists as well!
Some Season 29 trivia:
While rockets and mortars still dominated overall, mass missiles ruled on Balls
Shockenaugh also saw a resurgence on the larger maps with multiple expansions
Some maps were in fact showing up more often than they should, and have been given a stern talking to for Season 30
PSA: If your opponent successfully swings their core it doesn't obligate you to try as well

We're pleased to announce today's update! Thanks for waiting patiently. There are two major additions, a handy shortcut to Skirmish in the map editor, and a bunch of other improvements and fixes. Although there are no balance changes, we've got our eye on some for the next update. Stay tuned!
Co-op on Elimination
Knocked out of the game early? Assist your friends after you're eliminated with this new feature. To avoid people sitting out battles when they are taken out and keeping the fun rolling, we have added a new feature to allow you to join a teammate in their fort and carry on the battle. Using the above series of screenshots as an example, if you are manning the fort on the hill it will work like this:
Happily building, battling and causing rubble in your original starting fort.
Uh oh! Your reactor is destroyed, and you are left fort-less.
Click on a teammates fort and confirm your choice to join them in co-op.
Building, battling and causing rubble once more in your new home!
Off by default, to activate simply click the box marked Allow Co-op on Elimination in the Host Game/Lobby Settings screen.
Pause Decoupling
New pause button (1) has been added to right-hand panel, with the help button (2) shifted to the left. The lobby host can now bring up the menu panel without pausing the game, but still pause (3) if necessary. We often receive feedback about wanting to stop the game and look around without pressure. With this update you can pause independently from the menu using the new hotkey, defaulting to F4, or the pause button on the HUD. While paused you can pan and zoom, inspect the enemy, read the item and commander tooltips, and refine your strategy. During multiplayer the host can now access their options screen without pausing everyone else in the game.

Happy 7th birthday Forts! When Forts first launched on April 19th, 2017, we couldn't possibly have foreseen what the future held in store. Some of us writing this now had yet to come aboard in fact, while for others it was already the fruit of many years labour.
Since then Forts has grown beyond our wildest dreams and we sincerely thank everyone who has been a part of it. You've all helped to make the game what it is today and there is still so much more planned for the future!
To celebrate we've put the entire Forts catalog on sale. It's the perfect time to expand your Forts library or share the joy of Forts with your friends. This sale runs until April 22nd.

Congratulations to Dranistian! Taking their second title within the last three seasons. Runner-up Malme, themself a previous winner in Season 22. And in 3rd, 打帅币, making their first podium appearance after a previous best 5th place in Season 24.
While the top 3 places receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze, every player finishing within the top 20 will receive a Season 28 Medal. Congratulations to all medalists as well!
Some Season 28 trivia:
Vertically spacious maps like Abyss and Pillars helped propel a huge rise in rocket/shotgun builds
Mortar specialists have heavily optimized their firing patterns, will AA designs keep pace?
Howitzers, once ubiquitous, fell out of favor with the predominately close and medium ranged map pool of S28. Is this set to change as larger maps return in S29?
A shocking number of bases in the midst of back and forth slugfests were in fact vulnerable to a single well aimed buzzsaw the entire time, shocking a great many people upon discovery of that fact
