The X-Morph have proven time and again that their technology level is far beyond what the humans have to offer. The alien shields, plasma guns, and lasers outclass the arsenal of the mankind. A new kind of weapon has also been spotted on the battlefields around the globe. It’s the shockwave tower!
This structure damages enemy units by creating a powerful impact shockwave, affecting everything within its radius. Its range is quite limited, so using this tower effectively requires a little strategic effort. In a perfect world, you should place it in such a way, that enemies will pass around it several times, taking more damage in the process.
Some enemy units are more susceptible to this kind of damage. Placing it on the path of heavy tanks might not be the best idea, but it will surely do great against buggies or light jumpers. Also, the Tortuga shield generator does not protect units from earthquakes…
We hope that the new, specialized towers we introduced with the latest content update enable you to achieve even higher scores than now. Someone’s already broken 1 million points, are you up for the challenge?
A new feature is in the works for the survival mode - and it’s the one a lot of you have been asking for. The game will now save a checkpoint before every fifth wave.
After you defeat all the enemies and just before waves 5, 10, 15 etc., you will be notified that your progress has been saved. Moreover, you will also get unlimited time to reorganize your defenses.
The save feature is currently available in the open beta mode. All owners of the base game are able to participate. To access the public beta, you will need to: 1. Select X-Morph: Defense in your Steam Library 2. Right Click on it and select Properties 3. Switch to the BETA tab 4. Select "public_beta" from the drop-down list 5. The download should start after you close the properties window Note: If the public_beta is not visible in your BETA tab, then please restart Steam and check once more.
WARNING: It is highly advised to make a copy of your save files before accessing the public beta. It may corrupt your X-Morph files. To create a backup of your save files, go to Documents and create a copy of your X-Morph: Defense folder.
We have also updated the level editor. Previously, the players were not able to utilize the new towers while playing the custom maps. Now they should be available for all the levels created with the new version. The new version is also available to try out by accessing the public beta.
We hope the save feature will lead to a more relaxing experience, without worrying about time constraints or random accidents. Also, we secretly root for more 1M+ scores! All the feedback is welcome and appreciated. If you encounter any bugs, do not hesitate to post here. We will try to fix everything ASAP.
The Last Bastion DLC has been with us for a couple of weeks now. This four-level story campaign climaxes in Indonesia, the location of the coveted project BASTION, the last hope for the mankind.
This mission takes place on several interconnected isles, giving humans the opportunity to attack the X-Morph from multiple angles. Given that it is the final battle against the alien invaders, you can be sure they will throw everything they have into the heat of battle. You can expect all kinds of units to join the assault, both ground and airborne.
The location offers a lot of opportunities to develop complicated mazes. You can also destroy a couple of bridges and collapse some towers to make things even more interesting…
As you might remember, the main campaign begins with the X-Morph assault in South Africa, which ends with the battle against Tarantula Mk V. The humans have revisited that trusted mech design, improved upon it and prepared a special surprise for the end of the final campaign.
It is time to show off the last one of the new enemy units which we added with the last DLC. This one is not quite as technologically advanced as some of the machines we showed to you earlier. It is more of a last resort build - a desperate attempt at weaponizing whatever might become useful in the fight against the X-Morph. Take a look at the RAVAGER, long-range missile launcher.
Adapted for military purposes, this truck carries a payload of very powerful missiles, which are supposed to attack the alien core directly. It is a powerful weapon, allowing humans to basically ignore the alien defenses, but the RAVAGER itself does not have any other protection. It also does not attack the alien ship directly. It means that whenever you hear it is going to arrive to the battlefield, you can expect it to show up with a strong escort ensuring its safety.
The missiles fired by the RAVAGER can be taken down both by the X-Morph fighter and the anti-air defense towers, leaving the player a window to react to the devastating, direct attack. The missile launcher is also quite vulnerable on its own and it can easily fall prey to artillery or bombs. Make sure to adapt your strategy if this unit appears on the battlefield.
With this piece, we wrap up the series about the new enemy types in the Last Bastion DLC. Which one do you enjoy blowing up the most?

We'd also like you to know that we are hearing your feedback about the Survival mode. We are currently working on a solution to save progress during the game and further balance the gameplay on Hard and Brutal difficulty modes. We will let you know how this turns out in future updates.
If you are a regular at our stream (and you should be! Visit www.mixer.com/exor_studios) you know that the things we dread the most while playing X-Morph: Defense are bombers, artillery, and shielded tanks. Now, what if we told you that with the release of the next update everything can get a shield? Sends shivers down the spine, doesn't it? Well, it's exactly what the TORTUGA shield generator has been created for. Behold!
This bad boy generates a strong force field that is almost impenetrable for the X-Morph weapons. Moreover, the diameter of the shield is very large, allowing up to 4 units to take cover underneath. Just imagine the threat level of healers or heavy tanks protected from your attacks, or worse - both! To make things even more interesting, the nature of the force field effectively disables the X-Morph towers.
On the bright side, the TORTUGA generator itself is quite harmless. It does not carry anti-air weaponry and is equipped with only a single cannon to attack the core. It is also not very durable - a dark matter bomb can materialize within the shield and if you place it correctly it will take down both the generator and the shield.
We hope the TORTUGA will lead to many adrenaline-pumping moments, especially in its natural habitat - the Last Bastion DLC. See you on the battlefield!
We are proud to announce that the third DLC for X-Morph: Defense - Last Bastion is now available! Check out the new trailer for The Last Bastion below: https://youtu.be/z6yT2fDHJTQ “Last Bastion” features a brand new, story-driven mini-campaign that takes place after the events of the main game. The action take place on 4 islands, each with unique features. Chop down massive baobab trees in the Madagascar, slalom among the Moai on Easter Island, reshape the environment in sunny Indonesia and try not to melt in rivers of lava on Iceland. 4 new enemy types round up the package, ensuring that the X-Morph: Defense storyline gets the finale it deserves.
Together with the DLC, we are also releasing a huge free update to the base game that adds new advanced tower types and multiple improvements.
The full list of changes includes:
3 new towers: - Railgun tower - a powerful advanced laser tower that can shoot through enemies and environmental obstacles. - Flame Artillery tower - an advanced artillery tower that shoots three projectiles that ignite everything they hit. - Shockwave tower - an advanced tower type that emits powerful shockwaves which deal damage to all enemies within its radius. These towers are available in all game modes including the main story campaign and survival mode. They change a lot in how you can play the game. Their addition makes a new playthrough definitely worthwhile.
4 new enemy types: - Vulture Gunship - Manticore EMP tank - Ravager missile launcher - Tortuga shield generator
Added all Last Bastion content to the Level Editor. You can use the new textures, buildings, and enemies inside your levels. The resulting creations won’t require other players to own the Last Bastion DLC.
Added audio compression for music and voice-overs resulting in a ~1.5GB smaller game installation size.
Optimized memory usage.
Multiple obscure crash bug fixes.
Slight performance improvements.
Fixed audio problems on some speaker configurations (too much bass).
We hope this new update will be as fun for you to play as it was for us to develop. It is a real pleasure to develop new features and we are always open to your feedback. Let us know if you like the game on our social media channels and discord server!
Another week, another portion of exciting previews! This time we will focus on something a little more 'down-to-earth', and by that we mean a machine which sole purpose is to bring EVERYTHING down to Earth. Commanders, meet the MANTICORE!
The MANTICORE is one of the most advanced human war machines. Visually speaking, it is a giant platform, rolling on massive treads and carrying an enormous cannon on its back. And it is not a conventional weapon, either!
Given the success of Project GHOST in the Netherlands, humans continued their disruptive EMP research. The result of their experiments is the cannon mounted on the Manticore. It fires a concentrated beam of electromagnetic waves, disabling whatever electronics it comes in contact with, including the X-Morph fighter. It's also very effective when it gets to the core, and its heavy armor makes it a priority target.
Do not worry, even though the effects of the MANTICORE's attacks can be brutal it is possible to avoid it. Right before the salvo, the aiming system tracks the enemy with a laser beam, making it possible to predict the area which the impulse is going to hit and dodge it.
Excited to face off against it? Just wait a couple more days...
It's time for another portion of spoilers from the upcoming update! This time we will be looking at the content from The Last Bastion DLC, more specifically - one of the levels. It is one of the most iconic places on Earth, and since the humans have taken refuge there, the X-Morph will follow. Let's take a closer look at Easter Island!
Located in the southeastern Pacific Ocean this ancient island bears the scars of the ages. Multiple craters of inactive volcanoes tower over the Moai, marble statues of human heads. Modern-day people have changed this place, building cities, starting excavations and even setting up an airport. It would seem that it is not a place of great importance for the X-Morph. However, there is also a military base there, serving as one of the last shelters for the survivors.
We try to give every map a unique look and feel. In this place, the time has stopped at the moment of the X-Morph invasion. Unfinished construction sited, half dug up Moai and cars left on the roadsides convey that strange feeling. Volcanoes on the surface of the island in conjunction with their urbanized surroundings leave a lot of strategic options to the player.
This place has seen a lot of historic events. Will the extinction of the human race be one of them?
As the release dates of the update and the DLC draw near we would like to present one of the new enemy types. We will kick things off with a very special flying unit. Meet the Vulture Gunship, a.k.a. the flying fortress!
This aircraft is one of the most formidable enemies you can face in X-Morph: Defense. Even though it keeps its distance from the heat of battle, circling around the map, it is certainly not harmless. Armed with a long-range rocket launcher it attacks the core directly, without the need to get up and close to your base. Your core health will get depleted really fast if you do not plan against this kind of attack.
Taking the battle to the Vulture is not easy either. The gunship is equipped with dual air-to-air cannons, providing a flurry of bullets aimed at your ship. Heavy armor doesn’t make things any easier. Luckily, the Vultures are loners and do not attack in large groups. This gives you the chance to counteract and survive.
That is just one of the four new units we are preparing for you. We promise a lot of new challenges and new angles of attack.
