New Stuff:

-Added Ironman achievements for all darkworld worlds. If you previously ironmaned an entire darkworld chapter (we've seen a few videos), sorry but you'll have to iron man them again to get the achievement. This should only affect 2 or 3 people...and we apologize to you...but if you do it again you get a neat that's something!

-Updated a few levels with some troublesome areas

- buttonmap.cfg was misnamed, so users were not able to change control configurations without renaming the file. My bad. The file is now named correctly.

-Save Files are now corrected fixing a bug where FlyWrench's unlock levels would overwrite Jills and vicea versa. This save file patch now awards Flywrench if you found the Flywrench warpzone and have jill unlocked. This was the only way to guarentee that Players did not lose their unlocks. In the event that you only found Flywrench's warp and didn't unlock him, but have Jill unlocked...congrats you got a free Flywrench.

-Save file will back up with the first run of the game just in case the save file patch corrupts the current game. It is saved in userdata/savedata.dat.bak

-Some users were not able to get certain achievements, or missed achievements because they weren't online. Now, on load all achievements that can be should be awarded according to the save file will be awarded. These include all of the warp zone and character unlock achievements.

-Fixed a problem with screen resolutions being forced to fullscreen even when windowed was selected.

-Fixed a problem with Retro Rampage achievement.

-Fixed a problem with the Start menu character select screen being ordered incorrectly

-Fixed a problem (maybe, it was very difficult to reproduce) with full screen builds loading VERY slow on some computers. The one computer we could replicate it loaded as fast as windowed mode after some window code adjustment.

Super Meat Boy's PC Version Has A Box, And It Is Well DoneSuper Meat Boy is getting a limited run of actual, physical boxed copies for the PC. To mark the occasion, artist Dave Rapoza handled the cover illustration, and made it appropriately epic.

Configure controls by manipulating buttonmap.cfg in the install directory. THESE SETTINGS ONLY AFFECT MEATBOY & FRIENDS CONTROLS, NO MENUS OR ANYTHING. We will not allow customization of menu controls.

Common Non-Alphabetic keys are: "up", "down", "left", "right", "shift", "rshift", "space", "control", "rcontrol".
Gamepads allow you to just change Special and Jump buttons. They are denoted by numbers of the buttons, which you can find in the windows gamepad panel in Control Panel. Example, on the Xbox controller the button numbers are A=1 B=2 X=3 Y=4.
There is a value there for using the Analog stick as a POV hat, this has always been enabled by default, but if you are still experiencing trouble, set this to "false"
There is a backup file of the buttonmap.cfg in case you mess up the config.

Fixed a problem where some users were experiencing crazy volumes on startup. These now will always range from 0 to 100.
Fixed several leadboards display problems Fixed a problem with sound drivers not initializing correctly.
Fixed Achievements for Warpzones (OldSchool, Retro Rampage, etc) were not awarding correctly.
Fixed Dead Boy achievement not awarding properly Fixed a save bug when unlocking a character from a warpzone that could mark the warpzone as completed, but not unlock the character Fixed a problem where slower computers were not allowing Meatboy to spawn in time to beat some levels (1-19x being the one most emailed about).

Fixes the Tofuboy problems on med and low res.

Super Meat Boy is a savagely difficult platformer, and those old-school bonafides gave artist TheInfamousTheft the inspiration for this rad Nintendo Power-style beat guide to The Guy's three levels, which unlock The Kid. Spoilers? Maybe. Big size on the jump.

Added Tofu Boy, type in "Petaphile" at the character select screen. (He's sickly so he's weak and can't run or jump well.)
Fixed bugs with Naija, Mr. Minecraft, and VVVVVV
Fixed a crash on exit
Attempted to address more crash on run errors
Fixed Leaderboard ranking errors
Fixed a problem with non-Xbox 360 controllers holding down directional buttons.

Also - Users experiencing unusually long load times, switch the game to windowed mode via the menu or command line and this should fix it.
We're still working to track this one down, but running windowed will fix it for now.

Super Meat Boy's developer has launched a twin-pronged retort to animal rights group PETA's recent Super Tofu Boy spoof.

Team Meat's co-CEO Edmund McMillen didn't, ahem, mince his words in a lengthy post on the studio's website.

"Honestly this is a major high point for me personally," he claimed.

"Putting all my cards on the table right now, I actually repeatedly made fake user names in PETA's forum pushing the game at them in hopes something like this would happen but gave up, realising that PETA wouldn't ever put effort into something "meat related" that was so small and unknown, that's exactly why this parody is so important and eye opening for us.

"PETA is 1000 times more well known then Super Meat Boy and the fact that they went out of their way to make a parody like this is beyond flattering and amazingly helpful.

"First off," he continues, "I want to thank PETA for helping us turn Super Meat Boy into a house hold name and of course for making themselves look quite foolish in the process... see (as mentioned in countless interviews) Meat Boy isn't made of animal meat, he's simply a boy without skin whose name is Meat Boy... but sshh don't tell them that.

"Now don't get me wrong, I have NOTHING against vegans or vegetarians. I was vegetarian for many years, and was an animal control officer who saved animals for a living for a long time, I empathise, understand and accept why people choose to eat, and live as they wish, and obviously I believe everyone should have the freedom to express themselves in anyway as long as it doesn't hurt others.

"But," McMillen explains, "I don't support an organisation who is 100 per cent against all animal testing, because that would mean my best friend in the world would be dead, not to mention his mother and many of my family members and friends who also are diabetic.

"It's hard to make a come back to a company that is high brow enough to compare concentration camps to chicken coops," he adds, "but I'll try and close this with a joke that's a bit more light hearted.

"How many PETA members does it take to change a lightbulb? None - PETA can't change anything."

BOOM. And it doesn't end there. Team Meat is preparing an update for the PC version of its wonderful platformer that will add in its own take on Tofu Boy, a character it claims it invented long before PETA's effort came along.

Super Meat Boy's Last Laugh On PETA Is PC-Playable Tofu BoyGloating that he goaded People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals into making a flash-game free advertisement for indie hit Super Meat Boy, the game's co-creator followed up with an unlockable Super Tofu Boy character for the game's PC version.

The game hit Steam just yesterday, so, that's fast turnaround by Team Meat. A tweet this afternoon says the character is unlocked by typing in petaphile at the character select screen.

Edmund McMillan, the game's co-creator, says he "repeatedly made fake user names in Peta's forum pushing the game at them in hopes something like this would happen."

"Peta is 1,000 times more well known than Super Meat Boy and the fact that they went out of their way to make a parody like this is beyond flattering and amazingly helpful," McMillan writes.

McMillan notes that he himself was once a vegetarian and has worked as an animal control officer. He disagrees with Peta's absolutist stance against laboratory testing of animals, saying that has led to medical discoveries and treatments that save lives - like that of his mother, who is diabetic.
