Interplanetary, seamless, free flight space travel, without the load screens... coming soon!
We are looking forward to sharing this new aspect of the game with you all, and we do hope you enjoy your ability of free space travel within the game!
Please keep in mind, that this is our first pass UI, and will be looking into further perfecting it!
Every astronaut can occasionally get lonely when isolated on an alien planet. The sixth set of Behind The Scenes Experiences provides a chance to try out some much needed sources of entertainment with two mini-games.
The first is a Chemistry Station mini-game, where players will be able to find recipe blueprints to discover and craft molecules and complex compounds. The purpose is to show you what we have planned for discovering certain compounds as well as crafting them. This will give more meaning to the Chemistry Station itself.
The second is a console game called “Gate of Osiris”. Players will make their way through a maze, finding resources and a key that will allow them to exit out of a gate, ending the game.
Give these mim-games a try and be sure to leave us feedback on the Steam forum.
Items To Note:
As always, these Experiences are not fully polished, nor are they guaranteed to be in the final version of the game. They are things that we are considering adding and rely on your feedback to help us gauge interest and collect your thoughts on what the community would like to see.
One of the experiences you've been waiting for is finally here: The Mech.
In this Experience, you will be tasked with traversing an obstacle course as the almighty Mech. In the course, both precision and dexterity will be required of you. Challenge yourself to beat your best time and share it with us in our forum!
Items To Note:
This is an Experience and may not be indicative of the final product.
The fourth set of Behind The Scenes Experiences is now available. In this set of Experiences, you will be exploring the interior and exterior of the Space Station. Unlike the prior Experience, which was more like an art demo, with no collision, these next two will showcase how to logistically maneuver through the interior and around the exterior. In the Space Walk Interior, you will learn more about each of the rooms within the station, and in the Space Walk Exterior, you will get more information on the components of the exterior.
Items To Note:
This is an Experience and may not be indicative of the final product.
With the arrival of summer break, we are hoping that you get plenty of time to try out the third set of Behind The Scenes Experiences. There’s nothing quite like a summer storm and we have two of them in this particular set of Experiences. Batten down the hatches and get ready to have your good hair (or helmet) day ruined.
Tornado Storm:
This experience is designed to give you a sneak peek at our storm systems, specifically the tornadoes on Proteus 2.
To summon and unsummon a tornado storm, simply press “T”.
NOTE: This storm system is still a work in progress and not indicative of what may appear in the final game.
Thunderstorm:
This experience is designed to give you a sneak peek at the thunderstorms on Aziel.
To summon and unsummon a thunderstorm, simply press “T”. Give it a few moments to warm up before sparks really start to fly on the terrain.
NOTE: This storm system is still a work in progress and not indicative of what may appear in the final game.
In order to interact with the experiences, please go to your Steam Library and locate ‘Osiris: New Dawn (Behind The Scenes Experiences).’ Right click on the title and select ‘Play Game.’
They’re here! The latest set of Behind The Scenes Experiences for Osiris: New Dawn have arrived and we are excited for you to dig and and try them out! We have added two new Experiences: “Mission Compass” and “Hover Dash.”
Mission Compass:
In this Experience, you will be required to use the new compass system to complete a mini mission. But that’s not all, folks! A Buggy will be provided with which to traverse the landscape and find the next incoming transmission. This Experience is intended to illustrate how the compass supplements our mission system.
When the mission is complete, you will have the ability to continue exploring Proteus II, as you will be given an Inflatable Dome.
Hover Dash:
This Experience showcases a timed obstacle course. Your goal is to complete the course as quickly as possible by using the Air Dash and Hover Dash mechanics. A leaderboard will track your best time, so you are your biggest opponent!
You will have four Air Dashes to use, with an approximate five second time requirement for a full recharge. For example, if you use two Air Dashes, it will require roughly 2.5 seconds to fully recharge.
Something to remember:
If you are unable to Dash in the Hover Dash Experience, please check to make sure that your key binding for the Hover Dash is set to Mouse Button 3.
Items to Note:
Due to some interface changes, we had to remove the Scanning and Locator Experience. We are also aware that the in-game menus can glitch on occasion in these Experiences.
If you have not yet tried our first set of Behind The Scenes Experiences, two of them will still be available in your Steam Library. You will now have a total of four Experiences to interact with.
As always, we encourage you to leave feedback on these Experiences in the forum. Please create your feedback posts in the “Feedback/Suggestions” area of the Steam forum and be sure to label it as “Experience Feedback.”
We noticed that many players were experiencing inventory and frame rate issues caused by the last hotfix, so we wanted to make sure to rectify those for you before the weekend.
The things we corrected for this hotfix are as follows:
Fixed the vehicle inventory bug where players would lose their vehicle's inventory when travelling.
Fixed the frame rate issue on Proteus Site B.
Fixed the bug where players would lose items planted in their Bio-Dome bins when logging out and logging back in to the game.
