Fixed an issue where GG boosts were causing the XP bar to appear to give more XP than was actually given.
Fixed some text issues in the Seasons List.
Fixed some localization errors in stats.
Season 2 Contender titles will start being awarded today.
We’re all waving goodbye to Season 2 with fondness in our hearts. But it’s easy to watch it go when Season 3 smashes through the door and drops all this swag in your living room; A new lore-inspired Freelancer and map, awesome Warforged skins, and a new Stats feature that tracks your rise to greatness whether you’re a filthy casual or a salty ranked player.
New Trust: Hyperbotics
Now that Quark has inadvertantly awoken Meridian, a very old robot from the fallen empire of Hyperion, Meridian has found his way to Atlas in search of the royal bloodline to bring Hyperion back to it’s rightful place of power. His knowledge and resources help to recruit the remnants of Warbotics to form a new trust – Hyperbotics!
New Lancer: Meridian
Our newest support, Meridian, The Herald of Hyperion, is a smash hit with the players. He blurs the line between Frontline and Support, and doesn’t feel the burden of carrying the p.u.g.s! He’s the royal Hyperion Primus that hefts a massive 2-handed hammer powered by old Reactor tech. His ultimate shields his nearby teammates turn after turn, helping keep his Firepower’s alive to win trades. He’ll launch with a Necrolancer alternate skin that is scary enough to win games through skintimidation.
New Map: Hyperforge
This Hyperbotics factory has an awesome fly-in that shows off a truly massive robot being constructed. Unlike other maps, players spawn in the corners and they’ll find themselves rushing into the wide open to grab an early spawning Might buff. This map is dangerous; it has many camo pads without cover, a wide open middle with contestable buffs, and tight corridors that often create several separate skirmishes with almost no where to safe to go. Good luck!
New Skins: Warforged
Expanding upon our current selection of Warforged skins, we’re releasing 11 new skins – 4 for Kaigin and Phaedra, and 1 new one for Su-ren, Rask, and Blackburn. Unlike the Hardlight series – an awesome advanced suit of armor – Warforged is a completely robotic version of these Freelancers, built by Hyperbotics to reign supreme.
Stats, Badges, & Achievments
Ever wonder how many attacks you’ve blocked with Rampart’s shield? Or maybe how many successful Proteus Grenades you’ve landed over walls as Blackburn? We’ve got that and much, much more with Season 3 Stats! Every freelancer will have their own specialized stats, and players can track and improve their own playstyles within the Support, Firepower, and Frontliner categories.
Badges are earned each match by comparing your performance to a global average. Certain combinations of badges in a match will earn you notoriety as a Cornerstone, Devastator, Vanguard, or Exemplar!
Achievements celebrate special difficult tasks, some of which are character-specific. Every Freelancer has their own achievement to earn, and there are a number of general achievements which can be earned on any Freelancer as well. Achievements let you earn Achievement Points, which you can use to compare yourself to your friends and see who’s more dedicated to the challenge Atlas Reactor poses. We’ll also be putting these Achievements into Steam!
Ranked Update
At the end of each Ranked Season, players are rewarded with special Emblems to show off their best final rank across all of the ranked queues. They also get a huge bonus of Prestige Points that they can use to unlock Golden VFX swaps for their favorite lancer’s primary ability! Season 3 Ranked starts 2 weeks after Season 3 launches to give players time to adjust to new lancers and overarching balance changes.
Game Mode: Extraction
Extraction is back again! Grab your friends and grab the case. Dashing drops the case, but that’s not so bad when your teammate also dashes to pick it up on the same turn. Just be aware, you gain the “Butterfingers” status for the turn you drop the case and the next turn after as well. Earn 2 points for a kill, and 1 point for holding the case at the end of the turn. After a team has 10 points, their team’s Extraction zone will spawn. You can win by ending your turn with the case in your Extraction zone, or by having the most points and holding the case after turn 20. Good luck lancers!

Season 3
Much to Helio’s dismay, a brand new Trust has taken up residence in Atlas. Hyperbotics, a collective that fuses the remnants for Warbotics with the resources of the former Hyperion empire, has arrived.
Season 3 has begun!!
Check out all-new challenges and missions.
New skins are available for Kaigin, Phaedra, Su-Ren, Blackburn, Rask, Oz, and Rampart. Earn them through special Warforged Loot Matrices.
New skins will be available for ISO after the chapter has ended.
Earn a “Salty” Overcon just for logging in during the event!
New Freelancer: Meridian, the Herald of Hyperion
Whispers of the “miracle maker from Hyperion” preceded Meridian’s arrival in Atlas.
He is a melee support that wields a giant hammer and is built to defend his allies with the light of Hyperion.
His presence inspired immediate loyalty from a number of Freelancers – Brynn in particular. He’s also been seen frequently at Zuki’s Flying Junkyard, which has created much gossip over whether or not he’s had any work done. (For the record, when asked, the prideful automaton insists he’s 100% original).
NOTE: his Golden Age skin and Master skin are coming soon! They were delayed due to a last minute issue. #BlameJames
Extraction Is Back
The game mode for chapter 1 is Extraction!
Get the case to your extraction zone and reap the rewards.
Ranked
Ranked Season 2 has ended. Season 3 Ranked will start on May 23 (and will be off until that date).
Players will receive Prestige Points and emblems based on their rankings during Season 2.
Stats
Check out the robust new stats system!
We now track a wide variety of general stats and 4 Freelancer-specific stats for each Freelancer.
On the end of match screen, you’ll be able to compare stats from that match to your average and personal best.
The Player Profile, accessed by clicking on your own banner from the landing page, houses a whole litany of stats to allow you to see how each Freelancer compares to each other.
NOTE: many stats are not retroactive. You’ll have to start from Season 3!
The badge system and global stat comparisons will be arriving soon(™). We need data to populate the system before badges and global comparisons will have real value.
Achievements
Atlas Reactor now has Achievements!
Check them out in the progression menu (click your banner in the front end).
Steam users will receive Steam Achievements for each Atlas Reactor achievement.
Expect to see new achievements in future chapters as we’ll be expanding them over time.
KNOWN ISSUE: Oz’s achievement currently does not complete. We are working on a fix.
New Map: Hyperforge
Wage war in a hi-tech armory where the open battleground and generous camouflage make for tense, wide-ranging skirmishes.
Hyperforge has the first ever rotating power-up. Each time it is picked up it will spawn as a different power up the next time (on a specific cycle, it is not random).
All game modes are supported on Hyperforge.
New Catalysts
There are an entirely new set of catalysts for Season 3!
Prep
Critical Shot – One of the perfect ones. It remains as it was.
Brain Juice – has moved to Prep and now reduces cooldowns by one. Prepare to… take more damage.
Second Wind – Has moved to Prep and now heals for 30 over 3 turns.
Regenergy – Give energize for the turn. Particularly interesting in quick ult builds.
RIP Turtle Tech, we hardly knew ye.
Dash
Shift – The 2nd perfect one. It remains as it was.
Fetter – Now does 10 direct damage in addition to rooting.
Fade - The final perfect one. It remains as it was.
Regroup – Teleport a long distance to an ally.
Additionally, all shift catas will display their icon on the ground when used, to make it more clear what each player has used.
Blast
Probe – Gives vision in an area for 2 turns and can see through camouflage.
Echo Boost – Increases the duration of buffs on you for 1 turn. Rampart tested, Blackburn approved.
Adrenaline – Gain unstoppable until the end of the turn. You’re the Juggernaut, dawg.
Chronosurge – Slow all nearby enemies and gain haste. Gotta go fast!
Reconnecting
We’ve made some big changes under the hood to reconnecting.
Disconnects should be less frequent, as we now auto-reconnect you if your connection suffers a small drop in activity.
Fixed a few general reconnect bugs.
AI Bot improvements!
Bots had a number of improvements, including:
Quark will no longer use crit shot on the same turn he ults.
Ranged freelancers now prefer cover positions.
They will now prefer to shift into brush.
Ranged freelancers with high health will needlessly dash less.
Bots will consider if a square is occupied when shifting.
Bots will be less likely to dash if already in cover.
Helio is smarter about using his shield on allies.
and more!
General
General and All chat is now restricted for new players until they player play 5 matches.
Alt-clicking an ability icon on your ability bar will now print information to chat, including the ability name, cooldown, and energy status for ults. Use this to let your teammates have more information quickly.
You can now select your language preference from the Options menu (instead of through Glyph).
Fixed some issues where the incorrect Fill skin was selected after completing a game.
Fixed an issue where death VFX and SFX were playing again on the game over screen, making you feel double-bad.
Changed some text that was previously all caps. SORRY, WE WEREN’T TRYING TO YELL.
Balance
Frontline
Phaedra: We think Putrid Spray is more fun with 2 turns for the base duration. Damage has been reduced to compensate. Mending Swarm now has a cap, which we will be tuning over time.</
Mending Swarm - Now has a maximum heal of 60 (30 max each turn).
Putrid Spray - Duration increased from 1 to 2. - Damage reduced from 20 to 15. - Hive mod – removed. - Big Bugs - damage increase reduced from 5 to 3.
Rask: Check out that knockback upgrade.</
Maul - Damage increased by 2. - Beastial mod - Damage reduced by 2.
Upheaval - Move cursor in or out to adjust knockback distance between 1 and 4.
Support
Aurora: Ion Cloud now has healing by default to increase mod flexibility.
Shock Therapy - Damage increased from 18 to 20.
Ion Cloud - Heals all allies for 4 by default. - Invigorating Cloud - increases heal from 4 to 6. Now costs 2 points. - Extra turn duration mod cost from 1 to 3
Dr.Finn: Finn is getting a slight buff, and a more useful 1 pointer on his ult.
Refreshing Spray - Can change in size, similar to water spout. Now heals for 24 at the widest (the same template it currently is) and 30 at the narrowest.
Electrifying Eels - Ignore cover. - Damage reduced from 24 to 20.
Maelstrom - Cast Off Mod - No longer causes knockback. Now causes Finn to be unstoppable until end of turn.
Khita:
Resonance Burst - Focused Burst Mod - Extra shielding reduced from 10 to 6.
Vaulting Shot - Survivalist Mod - No longer reduces cooldown. Increases damage from 20 to 26.
Quark: We like Quark as a high regen character. We’re tuning his max health to increase his fragility - Reduced maximum health from 140 to 130.
Atomic Bond - Sharing is Caring Mod - Healing reduced from 3 to 2.
Firepower
Blackburn: Blackburn has been consistently performing well, especially after the recent changes that improved the strength of Blitz. A slight damage reduction will put him on more even footing with other firepowers.
Proteus Grenade - Damage reduced from 28 to 25.
Juno: Juno can put out the hurt but her Laser Barrage feels overshadowed by her other abilities. A slight boost should make people think twice about getting in range of her miniguns.
Laser Barrage - Damage increased by 2.
Zuki:
The Big One - Regenerating Ammo Mod - No longer reduces the cooldown. Now grants 6 energy on cast. This mod was meant to be new player friendly, but ended up magnifying their inexperience.
Missile Storm - Artillery Barrage Mod - Range increase down from 2 to 1. This mod was giving too much value.
We know you don’t want to just play Atlas Reactor – you want to be the best! We’re adding Stats, Badges, and Achievements to help you track your progress and aim for being a better freelancer. Starting on May 9th, Season 3 will give you more tools to improve!
Stats
This new feature will shine a light on all the places that value hides in a match. While it’s obvious that your primary attack hits for 34 damage, perhaps, it’s much less obvious how much damage you avoided because you dashed, or how much of an effect your Might and Weaken had as a support.
We were already showing Damage, Healing, and Damage Taken, but now we’ll be including much more detailed stats that look at how well you are doing as a Firepower, Frontliner, or Support. We’re also adding something unique – Freelancer-specific stats! These will allow you to compare each of your games on a certain Freelancer to see how well you utilized your special abilities in battle. Stats can also help you find the holes in your playstyle with each Freelancer so you know where to focus on improving.
General All General stats are measured per turn or per life so that short games matter as much as long games.
Takedowns – The number of kills you participated (support/damage) in within 2 turns of the death.
Total Deaths – The number of times you died.
Badge Points – A point value awarded based on the number and quality of each badge earned.
Energy – The total Energy generated, not including Energy wasted by overflowing, per turn.
Damage
Damage Dealt – The total damage dealt, including into shields.
Boosted Damage – Outgoing damage gained from Might.
Damage Efficiency – Measures what percentage of your total damage was not lost to cover or overkill.
Kill Participation – What percentage of the enemy deaths you had a hand in causing.
Support
Heals & Shields – Your total effective healing and shielding.
Team Damage Boost – The total teammate Damage increase caused by your Might combined with the total enemy damage reduced by your Weak.
Team Energy Boost – The total Energy granted to teammates by your abilities.
Cover Reduction – The amount of damage reduced by using cover.
Survival [/list]
Damage Taken – The amount of damage you take each time you spawn.
Crowd Control – The amount of movement denied by slow, root, and knockback effects.
Damage Dodged – The total damage avoided using Dash phase abilities and Catalysts.
Vision Provided – The number of Freelancers your character provides vision on per turn.
Badges
Time to celebrate particularly outstanding performances with the new Badge system! It’s fun to see your name pop up after the game and show everyone how you stood out that match by rewarding you with badges from different categories of play – General, Firepower, Frontline, and Support. Players can earn badges outside their category, but will be better at earning badges from General and their own category.
Most badges come in 3 qualities – Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The better a player does compared to all other players in the world that game, the higher quality badge they can earn. Our metrics are mostly measured on a per-turn basis, so that doing your best every turn is what matters, rather than how long a game goes on. Badges look at a combination of stats to determine when they are earned. For instance, the “Damage Efficiency” badge looks at your Damage Dealt, your Damage Lost to Cover, and your Overkill damage to determine if your Damage Efficiency value is high enough to earn a badge. (Some stats are being tracked but not displayed to assist in the calculation of displayed Stats.) For a bronze badge, you have to beat 50% of all players; for Silver, 65%, and for gold, 80%. (These thresholds are still subject to final tuning based on playtesting and player feedback.) Here’s a list of the Badges that can be earned:
General
Takedown Participation
Triple Threat
Freelancer Badge
Damage Dodged
Firepower
Damage Per Turn
Damage Efficiency
Damage Done Per Life
Best In Match: Damage Per Turn
Support
Support Per Turn
Team Damage Boost
Team Energizer
Best In Match: Team Damage Mitigated
Frontline
Vision
Tanking
Crowd Control
Best In Match: Tanking
Accolades
At the end of each game, players will be featured on the post-game screen in one of four Accolade categories based on how many badges they earned and whether those badges were bronze, Silver, or Gold. The four Accolade categories are Cornerstone (Best Support), Devastator (Best Firepower), Vanguard (Best Frontliner), and Exemplar (Most Decorated).
Achievements
These special missions are a great way to keep track of just how dedicated to the world of Atlas Reactor. Many of them are Freelancer specific, like:
Shield to the Face
Deal at least 200 damage and dodge at least 100 damage in one game as Brynn.
Some of them are there to celebrate major accomplishments in your Atlas Reactor career, like:
The Power of Friendship
Heal or Shield 10,000 Damage.
Players will be able to complete these in game AND via Steam Achievements!
Season 2 has been awesome, but it’s nearly complete. On May 9th Season 3 hits hard with a ton of new content! You’ll enjoy a new freelancer, new map, more themed skins closely related to the developing lore, and a stats system so you can track and improve your skills as a hired gun.
New Freelancer
We don’t know much about the next freelancer, so let’s list all the sneak peeks and leaks you’ve collected:
Male
Support
No Dash
Melee
Wields a hammer (much larger than Helio’s hammer)
Everyone needs supports! They are the true glue that holds a team together, so you’ll really want to stick close to him.
New Map
If you’ve been following our Friday live streams on Twitch.tv/TrionWorlds, you’ve probably seen the development of this map over time. It’s unique among our maps because each team starts in opposing corners, and it has a special rotating buff in a spot that starts fights and ends lives. You can expect to see teams battling in the middle, a wide-open area, or small skirmishes in the corridors around the edges. It’s full of conflict – Hyperion’s specialty!
Robo-Skins
Unlike the Hardlight series, these skins aren’t just suits, but a complete robotic remake of the Freelancer. Check out this concept art for Kaigin’s upcoming robo-skin!
Stats and Achievements
Ever wonder how many attacks you prevented by shielding as Rampart? What about how many Void Marks you triggered as Kaigin? Season 3 will give you the opportunity to beat personal bests, check global averages, and earn badges each match! We’ll discuss Achievements in next week’s blog. (THIS IS NOT FINAL!)
