Portal 2 Makes Us Want a 3D Printer. So Bad.Owning a 3D printer must be like owning magic. Because that's all they seem to do. Just...spit out magic. Like these custom Portal 2 turrets.

Michael Curry and Luis Rodriguez were showing these off at the recent RoboGames 2011. Looking at the scale, they appear to be around, what, two feet high?

Meaning I really should stop looking at them, or the urge to get one for my desk will bum me out so bad I need to lie down.

Aperture Science is Decorating This Man's HomeReader Sean is moving into "an industrial-style condo" in the coming weeks, and felt like tailoring his home decor to match. So he's built himself a Portal 2-themed end table Cave Johnson himself would be happy to hurl lemons at.

Built from plywood with a masonite trim, the box is both a table and a storage solution, as the lid pops open. It's 2-feet by 2-feet, and if we must say it's pretty damn great.

It's Portal 2's Circle of Life. And it Moves us all.One of the unsung heroes of Portal 2 is the "Animal King". See here for reference. Here, artist Burton Durand gives us a look at the regal turret's beginnings.

These Custom Portal 2 Figures Came Straight from TestingCustom toy creator Christian Hooton, whose work we've featured previously, has sent us some pictures of these Portal 2 figures he's made. Warning: they are amazing.

Remember, these are entirely custom figures. Hooton has built them from scratch, from the bodies to the cables, and they took two solid weeks to finish.

If Valve ever gets around to releasing official Portal 2 figures, they're going to have a hell of a time competing with these.

A Compendium of Cave Johnson Quotes from Portal 2It goes without saying that this site constitutes one gigantic spoiler, so don't go there if you are still interested in discovering for yourself anything about Portal 2 or the founder of Aperture Science, whose recorded messages of accelerated dementia have made the character another cult hit from Valve.

"Cave Johnson, Here!" has thus far amassed 39 quotes and will serve them to you at random or in a full catalog. If you have one to contribute, they take submissions.

We feel like we've talked enough about Portal 2 the last few months. Luckily, now that it's been released, other people have started talking about it, including the people who pick Time Magazine's Person of the Year, Time Magazine, which gave Portal 2 "our first perfect 10."

It's also being called "one of the best games of this generation" by 1up.com, "one of the best games ever made" by Destructoid, and "as good as entertainment gets" by the Boston Herald. Still not convinced? What if we said all that stuff again, but with a pumping soundtrack?

Well, this perhaps goes some way towards making up for the whole over-priced robot hats thingy. Official word has just arrived in our inbox from Valve that the first full-on DLC for the lovely Portal 2 will be free (on all platforms), and promises “new test chambers for players, leaderboards, challenge mode for single and multiplayer modes, and more.” That news again: free. The list of planned content also suggests there’ll be something a little more challenging than in the main game (the arguable ease and signposting of which we had a slight but affectionate moan about in our verdict yesterday), and a chance to really push Portal 2′s crazy physics as far as they’ll go.

A smart move in terms of goodwill generation, I suspect, and hopefully it’ll be top-notch content too. No exact release date yet, but it’s “this Summer”. Doesn’t Summer start on Monday? Maybe it will be Monday! (It won’t be Monday).
