Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for September 3rd, 2024, detailing all the changes that have happened since August 26th, 2024. Note: Devs that don't appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn't need to be detailed.
Zombie Massacre: Map Maker
macdguy worked on some new features for the Zombie Massacre Map Maker.
ZM Map Maker: Keycards
Keycards are new Zombie Massacre pickups that come in 4 different types (red, blue, green, yellow). You can place these in your levels to use as a form of door currency to unlock specific doors with the specific keycard.
The new keycard system comes with two items, the keycard pickup and the redeem volume that accepts the matching keycard. The keycards and the redeem volume can be use once only and come with a reset IO function as well.
When a player picks up a keycard, the entire team can use the keycard for matching doors.
It's very easy to setup the redeem volume.
A player can hold as many keycards as desired.
ZM Map Maker: Game Controller Module
This IO module will let you control certain ZM game elements such as the day timer and zombie spawners.
ZM Map Maker: Boss Selection
You can now select which boss you want to spawn for your map.
Minigolf: Map Maker
macdguy worked on some improvements to the Minigolf Map Maker.
The Loop Piece now has base height / flat base support. Custom textures applied will no longer stretch when the base height is adjusted, like the built in surfaces.
Pluck-a-Pal Rewrite
macdguy worked on a overall rewrite of Pluck-a-Pal.
The crane and prongs are all now physics based which will help fix the majority of the issues with the game. The previous version was half physics which led to the crane clipping into physics and causing weird issues.
This also means that the pals no longer need to be inside of orbs.
Miscellany
Johanna finished working on art needed for the next Arcade update.
Lifeless continued working on the Zombie Massacre map, Escape.
macdguy fixed some issues with the Virus Horde mode, worked a bit on VR, fixed some bugs related to the Co-op condos, and fixed an issue in Condos relating to spawns.
Sketchman worked on setting up the new workshop skeleton.
Will worked on music for SDNL.

August 2024 Condo Contest (Sci-Fi)
Hey everyone!
The theme of this month's contest is Sci-Fi!
So, think alien invaders, spaceships, laboratories, robots, high-tech cities, or anything else like that that reasonably fits the theme!
Your submission can be a regular Condo or a Workshop Game World Map. The submission should be something that was made after the contest was announced.
Winner will take home 2,000,000 units!
The submission period ends on September 2nd, 2024 at 11:59 PM CT.
Be sure to look at the prizes and follow the rules here.
Zombie Massacre
macdguy added an Arachnophobia Mode which turns spiders into blobs, and added a new boss, a machine gun wielding T-Rex!
Zombie Massacre: New Boss (T-Rex)
Zombie Massacre: Arachnophobia Mode
Zombie Massacre: Map Maker
Work continues on finishing up the Zombie Massacre Map Maker.
ZM Map Maker: I/O Support
You can now customize the sub-objectives. You can also manually start sub-objectives or use the auto start feature. There are also IO outputs when an objective passed or failed.
The Zombie Spawner now supports Activate and Deactivate, along with an IO input for manually spawning a zombie class of your choice.
ZM Map Maker: Helicopter-less Escape
You can make maps that don't require a Helicopter.
ZM Map Maker: Sub-Objectives
macdguy made some basic stock sub-objectives for use in maps.
You can use these for your ZM maps, and they come with sound effects and all that setup for you. You can of course still make your own sub-objectives.
He also added IO events to sub-objectives when players are progressing the objective and when they are not.
Completing a sub-objective will give your team 600 points, and players who are inside a sub-objective will get 25 points every so often while in it.
ZM Map Maker: Better Tools for Testing
macdguy added more editor controls for ZM. Now you can toggle zombie spawns so you aren't getting mauled to death while you walk around your map. You can also easily switch the days.
Miscellany
Johanna continued working on the Arcade, finishing the Air Hockey table and shooting gallery room.
Lifeless worked on fixes for Minigolf: Kingdom.
macdguy worked on the Zombie Massacre map maker, and added weapon and lightgun support to VR.

Hey everyone, we have been loving what you all have been making with the map makers! We wanted to quickly show off some community maps that we were impressed with! These are in no particular order.
That's it for the showcase! We've been having a blast playing all the maps! It's been incredible seeing what everyone has been making and how much heart you all have been putting into them! We can't wait to see what else you all make!

We are planning on doing a livestream soon to show a little bit more about how you can use the Map Makers and to show off some VR development!
It’ll be a casual stream, and we’ve been talking about doing more of these as we haven’t done any in some time.
Please let us know anything specific you all would be interested in seeing shown off on stream!
Future Plush Interest Form
We’re holding a survey to gauge peoples’ interest in our next campaign with Makeship! You can give feedback here.
VR Support
Since the last dev update, progress was made on loading screens, error popups, Condo Hosting Menu, Condo Workshop Browser Menu, Plaza join, and Condo join in VR!
Ball Race Map Maker
Ball Race map maker development is complete, has a guide, and will be ready for the next update! All of the pieces necessary for creating Ball Race maps are complete and we’re excited to see what you all make when it comes out!
Zombie Massacre Map Maker
The Zombie Massacre map maker is near complete as well, it just needs to be tested! AI navigation, helipads, spawn points, camera tools, and more were all completed!
Game Types & Mutators
The mutator system is finished as of the last update, so we are planning on implementing more mutators in future updates! We have a forum thread if you have a suggestion for a new Mutator or Game Type here: Game Type Suggestion Thread
SDNL Announcer
More SDNL voice lines have been hooked up in game and attached to events! We just need to make a new intro sequence for SDNL to complete the announcer.
Community / Dedicated Condos
We have been hosting our own dedicated Condo for a while and are working on getting dedicated condos to be part of the server lister!
The next step is ensuring Workshop will function properly.
Workshop Rig 3.0
We made a lot of progress with the new Workshop rig. We’re getting the rig to import right now. The import process is nearly done, and we’re resolving a few small issues. It’s intended to come out with the next update.
Virus: Theme Park
Lots of progress was made with Theme Park! We’ve made the sign for the candy area, finished art for teacups ride and the candy seating area. There was progress with the ice cream truck model, an art pass on jungle area, bathroom and souvenir buildings and paths, an art pass of curbs and floor details, an art pass on the arcade building, a large art pass on the carnival area, which added more stalls and games. We added more playable space in the bumper cars arena, started on the circus area, and, finally, did an art pass on the castle area.
Minigolf: Dino Drive
In the world of Dino Drive, preliminary designs have been made for every hole, laid out in their positions, and the art phase has begun (including the new tiki items)! Dino Drive is meant to be reminiscent of a Minigolf course one would see at a small theme park, and has a tacky dinosaur theme with painted cardboard cutouts and mechanical moving parts. The first half and second half of the holes are divided in theme, the second half will be interior and the first half will be exterior.
New Arcade Phase: Early Stages
For the upcoming Arcade update, we wanted to mention once again that Air Hockey and the indoor shooting gallery are confirmed as new additions with this phase! Art work has not begun but will start soon.
August Calendar!
Here is the Tower Unite calendar for August! If you’d like to give feedback on bonus events, please do so here! That’s all for this dev update! Thanks so much for reading.

You can find the Minigolf Map Maker tools with the rest of the Game World creation tools in the Condo I/O inventory tab.
We spent a lot of time creating unique course pieces with tons of variations which can be snapped together using the grid snap tool! Simply place your pieces, adjust their settings, place down a hole and start pad, and play!
You can utilize camera tools, pipes, launchers, cannons, out of bounds volumes, and so much more to create awesome courses, and upload them to the Steam Workshop so other players can join the fun!
There will also be the opportunity for community maps to be approved for unit payouts, so players can get rewarded for their skills like they would when playing a standard Minigolf map.
Plaza: New Transit Station!
The transit station has been completely revamped, redesigned, and fully optimized. This new station offers a more exciting spawn point for the Plaza and runs better than the previous one! Fans of Lobby 2 will enjoy our callbacks.
Plaza Optimizations - Less Hitches!
We have been working hard on optimization for the Plaza and have greatly reduced hitching in the Plaza!
New Game World Map Select
Starting a game world is now easier than ever, along with improved support for custom game world maps.
When going to the Game Worlds tab on the menu menu, and selecting a game world of your choice, you will now see thumbnails of the available maps and custom maps.
Installing custom maps has also been improved and is now quicker to get into.
Virus: Horde Mode - New PVE Gametype
Tired of sitting around and waiting for the infection to spread? In Horde mode, it’s already here!
Horde mode is a new PVE gametype for Virus, where you must fend off the infected until the time runs out!
You can now join Virus matches in single player and fend off the horde of infected!
You can play horde mode with friends as well, but it only requires one player to begin!
Horde Mode is also supported in user created maps!
SDNL Mutators & Player Outlines
Mutators are game settings that can be applied by the game host that customizes gameplay.
Mutators have been added to SDNL to allow for more customized matches that suit lobby sizes and play preferences!
Also, we have added player outlines to non-team game types for better visibility.
Minigolf: Player Collision Mutator
We’ve added Minigolf: Collision mode for you all to play around with. This mutator allows balls to collide, allowing for wacky antics galore. Keep in mind, when this mutator is enabled, HIO achievements are disabled along with leaderboards.
Camera I/O - Create your own cutscenes in your Condo!
There are new Camera Volume and Camera IO items that can be accessed through the IO tab! Use these items to make walking through your Condo more dramatic and cinematic, or create cutscenes for your stories! There are tons of ways these tools can be messed around with to add to the Condo-building possibilities, so mess around with them today!
The condo material editor has been improved. Now when you hover over a material for your walls, it'll preview what it'll look like immediately, allowing you to make better decisions on if it works for your condo.
New Guide Website
We have created a new guide website that covers a range of helpful information about the game, common support issues, how to play, and how to use the new condo tools and map creation tools.
In anticipation for the new Dino Drive Minigolf map we're working on, we have a new Tiki furniture set for you!
VR Alpha Menu
We’re really excited to get to share more VR functionality with you all! If you’ve been keeping up with our monthly Dev Updates, you’ll know we recently had a breakthrough in our VR development and have been able to get back to work on it.
VR is not fully functional still, but there is much better menu functionality than there was before. It is still very much in alpha, but there is now a new menu you can interact with and join the Plaza, your Condo, and other player Condos. Keep in mind that VR is not finished, so while you can interact with some items such as doors, things like picking up items does not work and using games will lock you. VR is view only right now. We currently recommend using a gamepad to navigate the VR world if you intend on playing games while in VR. Game Worlds are currently not supported.
To access this new menu, press one of the right buttons on your right motion controller. You can then interact using the right trigger.
