March / April 2023 Condo Contest - Tree House - ONGOING
Hey everyone!
The theme for the March/April contest is Tree House!
So, build a house in a tree! You can build your own tree or use one of the existing ones, and feel free to make your tree house in any style.
Also, remember that you can disable collision on items (such as trees) by right clicking and selecting Disable Collision.
The submission period ends on April 10th, 2023 at 11:59 PM.
We're now working on Update 0.16.8.0, which marks the return of the Anniversary events (with some new items), as well as a Plaza Update and Optimization pass.

Johanna continued working on the Virus map, Theme Park.
Joshua continued working on Anniversary items.
Lifeless worked on getting the Minigolf map, "Mushroom Wood" ready for release, as well as working the Ball Race map, "Heavenscape."
macdguy worked on VR last week, adding a menu and the wrist menu. He worked on the foundations of the HUD interface, for popup prompts, and started on item pickups. He also released the update.
madmijk continued working on MIDI support.
Nuclearxpotato worked on Anniversary items, as well as the finishing touches for the Virus map, "Catzek Temple".
Sketchman worked on new achievement icons for "Cardboard Castle" and "Mushroom Wood". He also did touchups on some older achievement icons (specifically Virus).
Wheezwer continued working on signage for the Virus map, "Theme Park".

A new Minigolf map is here! Previously known as Dark, Mushroom Woods features 18 holes.
Jump between mushrooms in a colorful fantasy world.
VR Menu: Start of VR Alpha!
In this update, we've added the very first VR menu. We've also started implementing SteamVR Input support and the beginnings of the VR alpha.
VR is still in development, so expect various features to not work at this time. We'll be continuing to add support for each Plaza game & Condo activity in future updates. You can keep track of our VR progress on our Trello here: https://trello.com/c/TJ4FbpZ1/620-vr-support

macdguy continued working on improving VR support. He spent time integrating the SteamVR Input systems into Tower Unite. He also worked on adding an actual VR menu for when Tower Unite is booted in VR Mode, the ability to use menus in VR, and the ability to pick up and interact with items in VR.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day this weekend, starting today and ending on this Sunday. This Casino-based event features better rewards, less "nothings", and slightly increased jackpot odds. A preview of MIDI settings for musical instrument items. Displayed are the sound sets that are detected for each of the 16 MIDI channels, using 'program change' events. This information can be used to select which channels to play back on the active instrument.

Now that Libretro support has been released, our focus has turned to SDNL.
macdguy worked on the level design for "Frostbite", adding new structures and fixing platforms, while also identifying where jump pads could go. He also continued on weapon handling.

Libretro emulation has been taken to another level in this update with Lightgun support, Touchscreen support, Dual-Screen support, and Keyboard support!
Libretro Lightgun Support!
Lightgun support is now here! Works with new lightgun-enabled cabinets. A virtual lightgun will allow you to shoot in lightgun-enabled games.
We added support for 8 emulators for lightgun games: Final Burn Neo, MAME 2010, NEStopia, SNES9x, Genesis Plus GX, Mednafen PSX, Flycast, and Opera
Our lightgun system will also automatically switch to the correct lightgun device for each game for you. No need to hassle with swapping devices.
We have 4 lightgun cabinets available.
Touchscreen Support!
Touchscreen support is here and works with the two new dual-screen handhelds. Touchscreen support also comes with a virtual stylus and it is easy to toggle on and off.
Touchscreen support only works for DeSmume and Citra emulators.
Dual-Screen Consoles Support!
We've created 2 portable dual-screen consoles for use with dual-screen emulators.
The Partycon 2S and the Partycon S3D!
Keyboard Support!
DOSBox and Flycast now have full keyboard support. You can enable keyboard mode by going into Libretro Settings (Left Shift) and turning on Keyboard mode.
You can also create your own TIC-80 and LowRes NX games to load into Tower Unite!
More Arcade Cabinet Customizations - Trackball, Flightsticks, coloring Joysticks, etc.
Customize your digital arcade more with trackball, flightsticks and more coloring options.
Groups Now Save
For condo builders, groups now persistently save with your condo data! We also added group stashing support.
Groups allow you to combine items together so you can duplicate them or move them in one group.
How to group items: You can group items by selecting multiple items by holding Q, then click on an item. While holding Shift, you then click on additional items to multi-select them. Once you have all the items you want to group, press G to group them. You can ungroup by pressing U on a selected group.
Projector Bounce Lighting
Projectors now have a more dynamic and advanced bounce lighting system that fills the room with lighting ambience from the screen's projection. The projector also now supports Libretro emulators.

Mednafen Super Grafx now supports CD images (.chd, .cue)
MAME 2010
Added bind for MAME 2010 settings menu (F1), useful for getting into lightgun calibration settings
DOSBox

Flycast
Added 30 FPS toggle for Flycast games that are running too fast. You can toggle this with Left Alt or Left Stick Down (L3)

Update 0.16.6.1: Libretro Lightguns and Touchscreens
Our next Tower Unite update, Update 0.16.6.1 adds some new Libretro consoles, as well as support for light gun games. You can see what is planned for this update here.
macdguy worked on keyboard support for DOSBox and Flycast, along with folder support. He also worked on customization, such as the ability to change the color of buttons, joysticks, guns, etc. and switching between trackball and flight stick controls. He finished the Wireless Controller item, which lets you control your consoles from a distance or while in a seat. He also began working on a Media Organization Shelf System.

He also added touch screen support to the Citra and DeSmuME consoles, as well as a stylus for the PartyCon 2S. He also added support for two fantasy console cores, "TIC-80" and "LowRes NX".

February 2023 Condo Contest - Monochrome
Hey everyone! It's time for another Condo Contest.
The theme for February's contest is Monochrome!
With this theme, your build should be focused around one color!
You don't need to use the default color on an item, but you should try to keep all items in the build around the same hue. Feel free to change the brightness and saturation.
The submission period ends on February 23, 2023 at 11:59 PM.

Update 0.16.6.1: New Consoles and Light Gun Support
Our next Tower Unite update, Update 0.16.6.1 adds some new Libretro consoles, as well as support for light gun games. You can see what is planned for this update here.
Johanna worked on light gun Libretro cabinets.
joshua worked on the PartyCon 2S console.
macdguy added light gun support to the seven Libretro cores that handle light gun support. He also added brightness and zoom options, as well as a "turbo button" for some consoles, so that players can adjust the game speed in situations where some games play too fast or too slow.
