Another quick hot fix, but we've also added a couple new features.

  • Locked items no longer can be edited, stashed, or sold until they are unlocked

Canvas Disk Cache System
This system will automatically download trusted canvases (by default only your friends) and store them on the disk.

You can disable this, but we recommend it for Condos you enter often as it speeds up load times dramatically. In our tests, Condos with canvases went from 80 seconds load times to half a second.

Any blocked canvas players will automatically be cleared out from your disk cache, as well.

We've also added options to clear out your canvas cache. The canvas cache data is stored in a Cache folder in your Tower Unite folder.

Gizmos Are Here!
We're excited to bring you editor gizmos for Condos!







You can also get really precise with the gizmo properties panel, shown below.



We hope you enjoy more creative freedom and an easier building experience in your condos!
Also, you can now lock items in place (so you don't accidentally move them) by right clicking and hitting the lock button.

Workshop Changes
Creators, we've added a couple more options for your player models! In this update, you can now adjust shoulder width, shoulder placement, and floating pet offsets.

Shoulder width is very useful to fix models whose arms are resting inside of bodies. Oh yeah, also, workshop player models with small scales no longer move slowly.

We've also added some material settings! We've added emissive, toon shader, and transparency support. When editing your item's metadata, you'll now see a material tab where you can adjust these settings per material.



For translucency support, simply check on translucency on the material you want to be translucent and it'll use the alpha channel of your albedo texture (you must use TGA).

We'll be continuing to add more material settings soon. We'll be updating the SDK page for more details soon.

More Emotes!
In this update, we've added 4 more emotes, including agree and disagree. Our animators will continue to create even more emotes.







More Ways To Vote On Your Favorite Workshop Items
Support workshop creators in more ways. We've added vote, favorite, and block buttons to various places where workshop items come into play, such as editing workshop items, appearance menu, and action menu.



Also, you can now see your favorited player models in the appearance editor.




Changes
  • Added gizmos for item manipulation. With these you can move, squash, and rotate items with ease
  • Added a couple more emotes: agree, disagree, and some others
  • You can now open the emote panel or inventory while doing an emote
  • Added unfocused volume setting that allows you to set the volume of the game when the window is unfocused, minimized, or in the background
  • Added Condo settings to disable use of Laser Pointers, Magic Trampolines, Jetpacks, Speed modifier items (speed shoes), and/or Potions
  • Removed item inspect. For hosts, the button is now lock and prevents the item from being moved while locked. For players (if the item is workshop), the button pops open workshop item details (which allows you to block the workshop item, favorite or what not)
  • Added workshop model information on inventory tool tips
  • Global chat sent by players who are in the same server as you will now show up in local chat (with a setting to disable this)
  • Renamed Sound settings to Audio

Workshop Changes
  • Workshop player models with smaller heights will no longer walk slower
  • Added option to disable workshop player models (but keep workshop items)
  • Blocking items will now remove them from the cache
  • Added a clear cache button that removes the entire workshop cache to the workshop settings
  • Added translucent material support (both player models and items). You'll need to set an alpha mask and use TGA or PNG
  • Added emissive material support (both player models and items)
  • Added toon shader material support (both player models and items)
  • Metadata on items/player models get searched for before the model loads in, instead of after. Should help with models being really large then shrinking down a frame after

Tower Unite - MacDGuy
Hey everyone, just wanted to give you an update on what's been going on since the 0.6.0.0 (and 0.6.0.1) Workshop updates.

Over the weekend we've seen an uptick in active player counts, peaking at 590 players. On top of that, you have all submitted over 1,252 workshop items (379 player models, 881 items)!!

We're so happy to see that kind of positive reaction to the update and we're working around the clock to bring you more updates for Workshop creators and to provide various improvements and fixes to bug reports we've been receiving.

Thank you for everyone who reported the crashes as we were able to get rid of the majority of new crashes that came up with the Workshop update. Please continue to send your crash dumps on our forums so we can address them as soon as possible.

In the update we are currently working on (0.6.1.0), we're adding a couple more settings to help with player model creation. We are adding shoulder width adjustment that helps with player models whose arms are sitting inside the model's bodies (for large, or more round models). And we are also working on adding toon shading to allow for more cartoon styled player models (which hopefully will be in 0.6.1.0).

Next Update

We're working hard on getting the next update out, which should be out this week, which will include improvements for Workshop browsing/blocking and the ability to adjust the volume of your game when it is not focused.

This hotfix addresses several issues with 0.6.0.0

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed crashes with workshop player models with incorrect bones. Also added an error when importing player models with incorrect bones
  • Fixed canvas inventory drag ghosts not scaling properly
  • Resolved media player issues: ensured media player uses the built in CEF browser
  • Global Chat: Fixed player names sometimes displaying as "[unknown]"
  • Global Chat: Fixed some chat messages repeating twice
  • Workshop: Fixed an exploit with blocked items
  • Workshop: Fixed issue where blocking items would refresh all items that aren't blocked (which could lead to infinite loading for those unblocked items)
  • Workshop: Blocked items no longer show their images
  • Workshop: Blocked items no longer show up in the browser
  • Workshop Editor: Adjusted lighting in the workshop editor. Disabled hidden shadow on the editor character (shadow of the player)
  • Workshop Editor: Fixed an application/windows hang when importing while in fullscreen by adding a message explaining you can't use this while in full screen
  • Workshop Browser: Fixed page "next" button being on the far left instead of the right
  • Fixed Canvas Pyramid not showing up

With the help of Steam Workshop, you can now create & use custom items and player models!

We've made modding easy. Every mod can be downloaded and viewed in real time without the need of manually installing!

This update was a major undertaking and took a lot of effort, so we hope you'll enjoy it!

Workshop Player Models
Become anything. Select custom player models by using the new action button (default C). Workshop player models also work in Game Worlds!

Workshop Items
Decorate with anything. Place down custom items by using the new workshop items found in Rob's Imports. Similar to Canvases, workshop items can be placed, scaled, and thrown around in your Condo. We plan to continuously update with new interactive item support in the near future!

You can disable workshop entirely or block specific items in the settings menu. You can also block from the scoreboard by clicking on the item next to the player wearing it.

Global Chat
The new chat connects everyone together for the first time. Playing Minigolf and want to see what's going on in the Plaza? Now you can. You can even chat in the menu!

When a player hosts a public server, a game invite to their hosted server will show up in Global Chat.

Global Chat is moderated by our super friendly staff.

We've also updated the chat box to make it the best so far. We'll be continuing to update it with new features.



Player Emotes
Express yourself, you sTUd muffin. You can use a variety of new emotes such as sit, sleep, chill dance, and dozens more. We'll continue to add new emotes!

    • The moving basket in hole 13 no longer uses a world-aligned texture, so the texture on its floor now moves with it

    • Fixed a hole in the map geometry near the end of hole 13

  • Fixed the spawning camera rotation not being set fast enough for clients (reduced network travel time for the camera rotation)

Game World Changes
  • Updated Game World vote map system to select the top voted map over everything else. If there is no top voted map (or there is a tie), it'll randomly pick a map


Bug Fixes
  • Fixed the House condo looking very dark on certain post process settings
  • Fixed "Friends Only" tag not displaying for friends only servers on the scoreboard
  • Fixed server ban prompt not taking mouse input when first created
  • Fixed slot machines being really dark in the Casino
  • Fixed physics items respawning higher than where they were originally placed
  • Fixed a bug where your character would uncrouch if you crouched then jumped

  • Adjusted damage radius color for the spider acid spit
  • Adjusted movement speed to make movement upgrade more worthwhile

Zombie Massacre Beta is now available!

Zombie Massacre is a new top-down cooperative Game World. Play with up to 6 players (with singleplayer mode available) and survive the apocalypse.

Each character class has unique items and special powerful abilities.

In this beta, there's 3 unique levels, 5 character classes, 32 weapons, 4 monster types, and one boss. We plan to expand on this Game World with new bosses later on.

Please be aware, as this is a beta, there will be bugs and balancing issues. We've been testing the game for awhile now and gathered feedback from various playtesting, but we haven't gotten your feedback yet! Plaza Changes
  • The theatre sign was updated to show thumbnails and text ticker of what videos are currently playing.
  • The visuals in the movie theatre lobby and furniture store have been improved.
  • The visuals in the game world port area were improved.
  • A “new” tag was added for items which were recently added in stores.
  • A new glass fading system was added, which will use a dithering effect to block out geometry behind the glass, and will gradually disappear as the player gets closer to the glass pane.
  • Implemented many LODs to help with performance.
  • Lightmaps were reduced to improve performance and help reduce loading times, while not compromising visual quality.
  • Dynamic shadow performance was improved, by disabling it on objects that don’t require it.
  • Central Circuit was added to the level streaming list, and the High Roller room in the Casino now only streams in once you enter the Casino, rather than on plaza join.

Media Player Bug Fixes
  • Updated the browser to fix YouTube playback issues. Note: Due to this change we had to temporarily disable Twitch support.

  • Minigolf: Forest Changes
    • Moving course components in holes 4 and 10 no longer use "world align" textures, which means that the textures will move with the objects they are applied to.
    • Updated the collisions of the course signs to make sense (previously you'd bounce off of the empty space between the legs), so that players who fail and get out of the course boundaries will at least be able to bounce properly off of the signs.
  • Minigolf: Forest Bug Fixes
    • Players will no longer be "in bounds" when landing on rocks outside of the course. This will prevent players from getting stuck on rocks.
    • Fixed an issue where players would not be marked out of bounds for falling underneath the moving platform on Hole 7.
    • Players can no longer get stuck on the wooden bar that sits over the moving platform in hole 7 (the shape has been changed to a triangle so players can't get stuck, and will slide off).
    • Players will no longer be marked out of bounds for ricocheting off of the torches that are placed around the courses.
    • Players should be able to fall into the hole properly in hole 18 if they are sitting on the moving platform (the side bars have been extended so more of the hole reaches the sides, making sure any balls at the far ends will fall in).
    • Players can no longer get stuck on the wings that extend out on either side of the moving hole on hole 18.
    • Players will no longer have the possibility of getting stuck on the support beams that run parallel to the circle in hole 10.
    • Fixed an issue where players could get marked as out of bounds for bouncing off of a specific portion of the wall in hole 11
    • Players can no longer get stuck in the legacy "practice" course. Landing there will now count as out of bounds.
  • Minigolf: Emission Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug on Hole 9 where players could get stuck in midair while the laser bridges are off.
  • Minigolf: Cove Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug on Hole 2 where players could get stuck on the moving wall pieces.
    • Improved hole 11 issues. We plan to continue working on the cannon issues next update as well.
    • Fixed Hole 18 non-HIO lane from getting the ball stuck.
    • Fixed Hole 17 issues with going too slow, and added camera transitions to Hole 17 so that the camera doesn’t constantly collide with rocks.
    • Fixed the HIO on Hole 3 to be less likely to fail.
    • Fixed the loop on Hole 13 from breaking as often.

Virus Polishing and Bugfixes
  • Virus Changes
    • New models and animations for the Sci Fi Handgun, Sonic Shotgun, and Plasma Autorifle were implemented.
    • The regular Autorifle was removed from the weapon rotation.
    • Gib support from Zombie Massacre was integrated into Virus.
    • You can now crouch.
    • Survivors now have an outline around them so that other survivors know where each other are at all times. (Infected players can also see where the Survivors are at all times.)
    • The infected player model was updated, and given new animations.
    • Weapon icons were updated, and the old damage hit notifications were replaced with new ones from Zombie Massacre.
  • Virus Bug Fixes
    • Fixed certain weapon materials being broken (such as the Double Barrel) due to previous optimizations and new models.
    • Fixed Handgun and Double Barrel reload sounds being heard everywhere in the map.
    • Fixed Chat/AFK icon being at the bottom of players.
    • Fixed a bug where weapon traces would be blocked by other survivors’ heads.
    • Fixed scoreboard not showing all the players.
    • Optimized weapon models and added LODs.
    • Fixed silencer weapon icon being dual silencers.

Gameworld Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug with all Game World scoreboards sometimes showing an additional round at the end.
  • Predicted "ready" button for waiting for players.

Other Notable Changes
  • Added a block/banned list to the Condo "C" menu panel. Now you can manage who you've banned or add new bans from in-game
  • Improved flashlight logic: it's now predicted and less of a network burden
  • Added gameplay tips to each Game World's waiting for player screens. This should be useful to new players.
  • Added a payout history to the pause menu that shows all recent payouts during your gameplay session. This currently only works for Game Worlds and some Lobby activities.

Most of these new items are colorable or have canvas support.

Updated Scaler Tool (and others)
The recently released scale tool was updated and now has the ability to manually set the scale of items. Now, if you want to set the scale of items to 4, or .15 because you like those numbers, you totally can! This addition also lets you avoid having to click several times to make objects really large.

Scaling items now scale their sound effects! This of course works with instruments, so you can make tiny toy piano music or really bassy drums. With instruments, we've added a toggle to this feature.

Copycat tool now works with condo surfaces! This was a heavily requested feature. With this tool improvement, you can repaint your condo walls with a lot more ease.

And lastly, picking up physics items will no longer resize them. So you can resize basketballs and throw them around with the scale you've applied!

Media Player Thumbnails
We've added thumbnails to media players when the media player is turned off. This small addition will let players know there is something being played on the media player before they turn it on.

Pause Menu Shortcuts
In this update we've added useful shortcuts to return to your Condo and Tower Express to the pause menu.
