Today, we start off by looking back to one of our older blog posts, the date? October 12th 2015, when we got our first preview of SubD's private space known as the Cave House.


For those of you who are new to Atom Universe, SubD Studio might be an unfamiliar name to you while for our early adopters, SubD's name will be ringing bells. However, we can guarantee that you've already seen their work in Atom Universe! SubD's first private space has been in Atom Universe since the get-go. Still need a hint?

That's right! The SubD duo Sergio Isaev and Noel Toro are the team behind the impressive desert getaway, Mirage House and now they're back with the Cave House and it's safe to say that this private space is on the horizon for Atom Universe.




Another one of our works in progress is the Wheel of Luck, similar to the Dice game that was implemented in our previous update. The Wheel of Luck will be making its appearance in the near future, once implemented into Atom Universe you'll be able to find this mini-game in the Hub...but what games can we exactly play with it? Well, that's completely up to you!

We’re back! Now that 2017 is officially here, the Atom Republic team have returned to the studio and we’re kicking off another year of development by bringing you a new update to Atom Universe. However, that’s not all…our trusted DevBlog is also undergoing some changes in 2017!


In 2017 we’ll be changing the frequency of our DevBlogs. Over 2016 we were releasing these posts on weekly basis, but after some careful consideration over 2017, we’ll be decreasing how often we share these posts. Instead of weekly updates, we’ll be delivering fortnightly updates with the aim of sharing more structured DevBlogs with you.


That’s right, our first update of the new year is getting released today! Premier members will be able to access our latest private space, the Japanese Garden.



Take a step back and enjoy a tranquil and zen-like experience with the Japanese Garden. Sit back in your deck chair and enjoy the view or explore a minimalistic private space complete with Japanese architecture.


A new line of clothing is now available within the user settings…Urrrrrgh! *Cough* You’ll now be able to purchase Zombie Clothing for Adam and Eve. The Zombie Clothing includes a top, pants shoes and eye lenses for both male and female.


Some rather strange looking dice have appeared in the Hub, but what could they mean? Well, that’s completely up to you and your friends, can you think of any dice games you can play with other?


Recently, we’ve been playing about with the idea of VIP areas in-game and we’ve implemented the first pass into the Arcade Plaza, if you’re a Premier member you will be able to enter this area and play an early access preview on the Arcade Machine, AquaVenger! We’d love to hear your feedback about this and how we can improve upon this idea!


As part of the Early Access for Premier account, the AquaVenger will be available within the VIP area located in the Arcade Plaza.

The AquaVenger features 5 challenging levels to play through featuring deadly enemies and even deadlier bosses. Can you set the highest score?

The first implementation of customizable private spaces is here. You’ll now be able to purchase the Atom Blaster arcade machine for your very own private space. It's time invite your friends around for games night!

With this being the first implementation, we’re extremely interested to hear your feedback on how we can improve upon this feature. If you’ve got any suggestions, please do head over to our forums and post your feedback in the Feedback & Suggestion subforum.

Without a doubt, 2016 has been a challenging, fulfilling and a crazy year for us. Over these 12 months, we saw the closed Atom Universe Early Access released on Steam, the PlayStation 4 and full public launch!

With 2017 just around the corner, we won’t be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, here are some of the things we’re planning on bringing to you in the not too distant future!

AquaVenger Preview

Our second arcade game is nearing completion! In AquaVenger, you’ll have to make your way through 5 challenging levels facing deadly underwater critters and fighting deadlier bosses. Pick-up weapon power-ups to increase your arsenal of powerful attacks.


 



2017 will see the release of our latest private space called the Japanese Garden, where your avatar will be able to relax in a zen-like environment surrounded by Japanese architecture and scenery
 


We'll also be looking forward to introducing two brand new features to Atom Universe! Firstly, VIP Areas will introduce special areas in-game where players can get a preview of new content coming to Atom Universe, or maybe you just want to mingle with other VIP members! The first VIP area will become available in the Arcade Plaza, Premier members will automatically gain access to VIP areas and non-premier players will also have the ability to become VIP members, but we will be going to into more detail over the new year. 

Private space customization is also on the cards for 2017, the first implementation of this will allow you purchase your favourite arcade games and store them within your own private space. We're very excited to see how this feature can evolve over 2017.

Welcome to this week’s DevBlog, since our previous update (0.4.6.4132) there have been some questions on everyone’s tongue...Molecules, what are they? How do I earn them?


Essentially, Molecules will become our premium currency and it will be used to purchase items that allow you to customize your avatar further or buy private spaces etc. Currently, we’ve been using DLC as a method to deliver premium content to Atom Universe, but moving forward we would like to start bringing this in-game.

Our ultimate goal is to start giving you the control over the type of content you would like to have available for your avatar for a price that’s suitable for you (free & premium). With DLC packs, you’re often purchasing a pack of clothing or accessories, but maybe not everything in the DLC pack appeals to you. With Molecules, you’ll be able to purchase premium content individually!


Unlike Atoms which are earned freely throughout Atom Universe, Molecules will only be available to purchase via the PlayStation or Steam Store. Once Molecules are live, there will be a variety of pack sizes to choose from.




Towards the beginning of the week, we asked you to help us name our next arcade machine (codenamed: Scrolling Shooter).In the poll there was a choice of four names to pick from:

• Escape from the Blue Lagoon
  
• Aquavenger
  
• Alien Ocean
  
• Aquaticus

And help us you did!

The results are in…*drum roll*



Yes, the most popular choice was AquaVenger! We’ll be following AquaVenger's development closely and we’ll be sharing some new screenshots and a video over the coming weeks.

We hope all our American supporters are having themselves a wonderful holiday! While you’re recovering from last night’s feast, let’s have a little catch-up and see what’s being happening in Atom Universe over the last couple of weeks.


During our last Block Party, we played a little mini-game to help us choose what the next piece of avatar clothing or accessory that we should develop next for Atom Universe. Players who attended the Block Party shouted their ideas out and then two ideas were selected at random. Once we had our two selections, players would then run towards one of the two Guides. Whichever Guide had the most players surrounding them won and the suggestion would be selected for consideration to be developed.

We’d like to give a big hand of applause for our winners:

GuardianHawk – Zombie Outfit
Mr_Fantastic 69 – Hip Hop Clothing
SugarBaby_82 (two time winner) – Western Wear & Victorian Clothing
Jordan_XXIII_ – Hoodies
ShePunk – Noir Clothing

Now, for the next steps! These choices will be placed into a poll and you will be able to cast your vote for which item you’d like to see in Atom Universe next. The poll will be active in-game from Monday (November 28th). Keep an eye for the in-game information point when you first log into the Hub and be sure to cast your vote for your favourite item.


During our previous update in DevBlog #40, we got our very first glimpse of the Tree Top House, we’re happy to announce that this private space is starting to make its way into Atom Universe, Avatars can now freely walk this new space.



This space will become available for Premier members at first, but will also become available to Non-Premier members at a later date. More details to follow!


As the festive season gets closer with each passing date, we’ll be looking to change our current playlist in the Arcade Plaza with some newer tracks. With the next update, you will be able to find the following tracks playing in the Arcade Plaza:

Audio Bug - In our previous on update for the PlayStation 4, music in the Arcade Plaza would stop playing after the first track. We happy to announce that this issue has now been resolved and we'll be implementing the fix for the next update.

Corrupted Chat Box Text - With the recent implementation of the new profanity filter, players messages would become corrupted as new messages were being submitted. This issue has now been fixed and we’ll be implementing the fix for the next update.
