The sweetest of girls went from door to door,
Looking for treats but the night was a bore.
GodScylla was out to scare all her foes,
But no one was out in their scary clothes.
She walked around town planning to frighten,
But knew that she missed ulting the Titan.
She threw her bag down, ran back to her room,
Where her destruction would quickly resume.

New God - Hera, Queen of the Gods



Passive - Commanding Presence

Each time Hera deals damage to gods while Argus is inactive, Argus’ cooldown is reduced. While Argus is active, each time Hera deals damage to gods Argus is healed for a flat amount, scaling based on Hera’s Level.

Cooldown per hit: 1s
Argus Heal: 20 + 5 per level

Royal Assault

Hera damages enemies in a cone in front of her before opening a portal for Argus to attack through. Enemy minions hit by this cone are knocked into Argus’ path. Argus then slams his fists at the target location dealing heavy damage. If both of his fists connects with an enemy, it deals 15% extra damage.

Divine Shroud

Hera shrouds herself in her divine power, granting her a shield from damage and temporary movement speed that lasts as long as the shield remains.\n\nIf Argus is active, Argus shines with the same Divine power as Hera, causing him to deal radiant damage and move at an increased rate.

Argus, the Defender

Hera brings Argus crashing down at a location, damaging and knocking up enemies. On landing Argus will attack the nearest target. Hera can control where Argus moves through refiring this ability onto an enemy or if he has a target, to recall him. While recalled Argus will defend Hera and attack anyone that gets close. Argus has a hit chain that starts with a normal basic attack, into a ground circle AoE slowing enemies by 20% for 1s, into a line attack.

Hera's Odyssey



This year’s Odyssey begins in 5.17 and will span over seven updates! Join Hera as she embarks upon a grand Odyssey to rally the pantheons against a threat great enough to destroy them all. Players can purchase Odyssey items and complete Event Quests to gain Odyssey Levels to move them closer to obtaining a Tier 5 Ares Skin as the Ultimate Odyssey Reward. Odyssey items will be discounted during the first Update they release, so act quick to save Gems!

Odyssey Points & Odyssey Levels

Gain Odyssey levels by earning Odyssey points through completing quests and/or buying Odyssey items.

Collection Bonuses

Players will receive a free item every 3 Odyssey Levels as a bonus.
Collection bonus items can be earned by questing.

Odyssey Quests

5 quests will be released in every Odyssey update.
Completing these 5 quests will reward you with 1 Odyssey Level.

Odyssey Lore

With every Odyssey, also comes an epic story. This year, the lore is set directly after the events of the Divine Uprising.

The developers behind Paladins, Smite, Realm Royale, and Tribes: Ascend today announced they’re formally splitting into distinct new studios to handle their big games (no, not including Tribes) under an overarching publisher. At the very least, this should assuage some fears about Hi-Rez’s track record of ditching older games when their limited teams shifted over to newer games. For now, it seems their three core games are secure. Hi-Rez are also opening two new arms, one company focused on running esports events and the other making art assets. To speak in business terms, all of Hi-Rez’s limbs are possessed by alien parasites and wrenching out their sockets to skitter off on lives of their own.

New God - Pele, Goddess of Volcanoes



Passive - Everlasting Flame

When Pele drops below 50% health her flame is set alight, and she gains increased Physical Power, Lifesteal and Ability Lifesteal. This passive has a 20s cooldown.

Lifesteal: 40%
Ability Lifesteal: 20%
Cooldown: 20s
Duration: 6s

Pyroclast

Pele flourishes and fires out a magma orb ahead of her in a line. Once the fiery projectile reaches maximum distance it hovers for a brief instant, solidifies, and then returns back in pieces, dealing damage to enemies on the way back. The number of shards returning is dependent on the rank of this ability.

Pele has 2 charges of this ability.
Damage: 60/100/140/180/220 (+60% of your physical power)
Return Damage: 20 (+15% of your physical power)
Range: 60
Cooldown: 14s

Eruption

Pele fiercely erupts energy into the ground, exploding in an area around her, causing damage and Knockup to all enemies. At ranks 3 and 5 the area expands again at a delay, dealing less damage and a smaller Knockup.

Magma Rush

Pele starts to churn the land around her, dealing damage to nearby enemies and giving her constant movement speed while this ability is active. Toggle this ability again to enter an amplified state, expending more fuel but dealing more damage and providing additional movement speed. This ability has no cooldown but uses a fuel gauge and cannot be activated when below 10 fuel.

Volcanic Lightning

After a short warm up, Pele dashes forward dealing massive damage and a slow to the first enemy God hit, and dealing additional damage to enemies behind in a cone. For the next 10 seconds or 3 attacks, every time Pele hits an enemy with a basic attack, additional damage is dealt behind the enemy as well.

Player Behavior

Commendation System

SMITE is adding a Commendation System, allowing players to give praise to players who as strong guides, show great teamwork, or are just plain friendly! Each Month players will gain points from players commending them for their positive actions or from just playing with 100% Goodwill!

Players will be able to vote on players directly after their match on a new End of Match Lobby screen. This page will also provide fun stats for your team, showing who was Top Damage, Top Wards Placed, Top Damage Mitigated, and much more!

Yearly Rewards

Players who remain unbanned for the entire year will receive bonus rewards when the Season ends.

Timed Queues

All Normal and Ranked game modes will be changed to a “Timed Queue” system. Timed Queues will show a constant countdown timer that indicates when the next match of that mode will begin. Players can see all timers for all modes at all times, allowing them to make decisions accordingly. When the timer reaches 0, all players in the queue will be sent a prompt to accept the match. Matchmaking will be done after accepting during a 20s period after accepting.

Joust
  • Joust Tower and Phoenix areas have been updated for better visual clarity
  • A new XP camp has been added to the Joust map. It is located just outside the Bull Demon King’s area.
    • This Camp contains 2 Armored Tigers
    • These have 400 HP each
    • Provide 50 XP when killed (100 total)
    • Provide 13 Gold when killed (26 total)
  • Bull Demon King
    • Increased Base HP from 1400 to 1750

Arena
  • Players will now see ticket value effects when Minions and Gods are killed, or when something is run into the portal
  • Updated the HUD
  • Respawn Timer rules have been changes to be less random and should be more directly scaled with which team is winning or losing
  • The Arena Update is coming later this fall! This will be mostly an art update with some minor design changes. Keep an eye out for more info as we approach HRX!

Clash
  • Phoenixes
    • Now attack like normal phoenixes
  • Apophis
    • Shadow of Apophis buff and Enhanced Shadow of Apophis buff
      • Now Heals 4% of your max HP every 5s and restores 2% of your Mana every 5s
    • Decreased the damage on Apophis’ entrance attack from 2000 to 1500
      Assault

Assault
  • Assault will now randomly select a god from ALL gods, instead of just the player’s owned gods.

Conquest

Map Rules
  • Support Bonus XP
    • After 2m on the game clock, Support Bonus XP will turn on. This rule will give the Lowest level player on each team a 25% increase to their shared XP only, not solo XP
  • If the lowest level player on a team is disconnected, the bonus XP will move to the 2nd lowest player

Elder Harpy
  • Base XP reduced from 34 to 24

Oracles
  • Decreased base HP from 680 to 500

Jungle Buff Changes

Speed Buff
  • Decreased Speed Buff from 15% to 10%
  • Buff now applies additional stacks of 2% speed on each jungle camp kill/assist. Stacks up to 3 times, stacks last 15s

Red Buff
  • Decreased Power Increase from 20% to 10%
  • This Power Bonus increases from 10% to 15% when hitting enemy gods

Purple Buff
  • For each enemy god past the first within 55 units of you, all enemies within that area will lose additional protections. 2 protection per stack, stacks up to 4 times.

Blue Buff
  • Decreased Mana Restored from 25 to 15 per 5s
  • Now restores 2% of your missing mana upon damaging a god with an ability, only triggers once per ability

Bug Fixes

  • Gods should no longer fly into the air and die if they become stuck inside walls. Now gods should find the closest safe position and be placed there if they somehow do end up in a wall.
  • Fixed an issue where stance changers passive meter cooldowns didn’t match their actual cooldowns.
  • Fixed an issue where Janus could ult out of bounds on the Clash map.
  • Fixed an issue where daily bundle prices didn’t visually update when coupons applied to them.
  • Fixed an issue where party leaders would get an incorrect “invite declined” popup after invites were accepted.
  • Fixed an issue where god tooltips would remain on screen too long, covering UI on new screens.
  • Clan Rosters will now show avatars.
