Hello, survivors!

Next week, a new season, “Enemy of my enemy” will be launched in Crossout. You can expect not only the new parts announced in the devblogs, but also the return of the Founders’ parts from the very first season.

Needless to say, the update will not be limited to the new season only. It will also include the updated PvP-maps, and a special PvE-mode, and balance changes. Let’s get acquainted with the information that we have at the moment.

All the new features described here are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not make it into the game at all.

Maps

In addition to the already announced new version of the map “Old Town”, you also expect the updated “Bridge” and “Founders Canyon” locations.

Updated map “Bridge”

The main change in “Bridge” is, of course, the new passageways. It’s a great alternative for getting behind enemy lines, but be careful - you can always be trapped by the enemy in a narrow passageway.

We also slightly adjusted the height of the hills in the location to minimize the situations where an enemy can shoot the player just because he occupies a position that is too high.

The slopes on the map will become more flat, which will definitely be appreciated by the owners of armoured vehicles on mechanical legs. New covers will appear in the riverbed and on the hills, and symmetrical descents to the riverbed will appear on both sides of the bridge.

We didn’t forget about jumping from the hills either. Now the cliff drops will be less steep, which will reduce the chance of overturning the vehicle and also allow for more comfortable shooting from elevated positions.

Updated map “Founders Canyon”

Minor changes will also affect the “Founders Canyon”. We strive for more variability in the battles in this location and want to diversify the usual “still standing” on the map.

The small side passages we will add will allow the fast cars to slip through the center of the map and cause commotion in the enemy ranks. Their location on high ground will allow you to control the center and fire if necessary.

Balance changes

Shotgun “Spitfire”

Durability is planned to be reduced by 7% (from 165 to 153 pts.).

Developer comment: With this change, we want to reduce the excessive efficiency of “Spitfire” on its PS level.

Rapid-fire machine gun “M-37 Piercer”

Damage is planned to be reduced by 7%.

Developer comment: “Piercer” was too powerful compared to other close range weapons within its PS level.

Cannon “Prosecutor 76mm”

Now the cannon shell pierces 2 cells of the armoured car construction.

Developer comment: The “Prosecutor” ’s perk hardly affected the battles, that’s why we amplify its effect.

“Kapkan” minelayer
  • Now it will be easier for heavy vehicles to tear the cable.
  • The cooldown is planned to be increased from 12.5 seconds to 15 seconds.
  • It’s planned to reduce the time until the mine self-destructs from 60 sec. to 30 sec.
Developer comment: “Kapkan” is too efficient and versatile, which allows it to be used freely in battle against any kind of opponents. This change is intended to correct this situation, encouraging the players to consider their strategy a little more when using “Kapkan”.

Crossbow “Spike-1”

Damage is planned to be increased by 8%.

Developer comment: With this change, we want to increase the insufficient combat efficiency of the crossbow.

Grenade launcher “Thresher”

The maximum spread is planned to be reduced by 15%.

Developer comment: With this change, we want to facilitate the gameplay while using the “Thresher” ’s perk.

Automatic weapon “Caucasus”

The weapon’s rotation speed is planned to be reduced by 25%.

Developer comment: “Caucasus” is a very efficient weapon, much less demanding to the player’s skill than its analogues. This change should add a new layer of gameplay while using this weapon — the player needs to efficiently control his armoured car to unlock the potential of “Caucasus”.

Hover “Icarus VII”
  • Acceleration is planned to be reduced by 10%.
  • PS is planned to be increased from 480 to 580.
Developer comment: “Icarus Vll” continues to show too much efficiency, especially at low PS levels. This change is intended to correct this situation.

Grenade launcher “Yongwang”
  • Now the maximum bonus to the perk’s damage will be 95%.
  • “Spark III” and “Flash I” will no longer destroy projectiles the moment the grenade launcher fires.
Developer comment: “Yongwang” started to show excessive efficiency after the “Deadman” cabin was introduced, and the first change is intended to correct this situation. The second change is implemented to minimize the impact of the first change on leviathans armed with this weapon.

Harpoon “Skinner”
  • Now the harpoon will hold the enemy car for only 4 seconds. You will be able to track when the harpoon releases the enemy with a help of a special scale around the sight.
  • The change is relevant only for enemy vehicles. If the harpoon is attached to other surfaces (surrounding objects, terrain, etc.) the cable will not automatically unhook.
Developer comment: It was very difficult for a player who became a target of “Skinner” to counter it. This change should improve the situation.

Cannon “ZS-46 Mammoth”

Reload time is planned to be increased by 10% (from 6 sec. to 6.6 sec.).

Developer comment: With this change, we want to reduce the excessive efficiency of “Mammoth”.

Drone “Annihilator”
  • The drone’s durability is planned to be reduced by 15%.
  • Now the perk will reduce the cabin’s power by 4%, instead of 5%.
  • Damage is planned to be reduced by 7%.
Developer comment: “Annihilator” showed excessive efficiency, and it was quite difficult to destroy the drone even with weapons designed specifically for this.

Crossbow “Toadfish”

Now the crossbow will reload 15% faster (5.1 sec. instead of 6 sec.).

Developer comment: “Toadfish” has rather complex firing mechanics. This change is intended to reduce the price of error when using this weapon.

Machine gun “Punisher”

Now to activate the perk, you will need to make 30 precise shots instead of 40.

Developer comment: This change will simplify the efficient use of the weapon’s perk.

Pulse accelerator “Scorpion”
  • Damage is planned to be reduced by 7%.
  • Durability is planned to be reduced by 10% (from 552 pts. to 497 pts.).
  • The mass is planned to be reduced by 20% (from 900 kg to 720 kg).
Developer comment: After reducing the physical size of the projectile, “Scorpion” became more powerful. These changes are intended to make it more balanced. Please note that with a hit from two “Scorpions” can still destroy your opponent’s “Scorpion”, and its ratio of strength was improved.
Other changes

With the update’s release, you can also expect a special mode related to the new season (similar to “Operation Gozu” which was launched with the previous season). We wouldn’t want to reveal all the cards right now, so let the details be a surprise.

With the next update, we also plan to improve the mechanics of the player matchmaking in clan battles. The changes, first of all, should reduce the waiting time of rivals in higher leagues.

Rumours about Scar AB's collection and the skill of the engineers who craft and expand it are rapidly spreading throughout the Valley. Recently, one of the trading clans turned to the Scavenger leader with the request to build several armoured vehicles to accompany the caravans, but with a special condition. All vehicles have to be similar to real-life models with slight modifications. The sense of style is not dead and gone even in this wasted world, and it's good.

Hello, survivors!
Many familiar things have disappeared or became irrelevant since Crossout. But there is always room for imagination, isn't there? Imagine if there were animals left in Wasteland. And somewhere in the Valley there would have been a forest which they could live in. It's almost like a national park.

But we have to get around there somehow. That's why we suggest you to think what kind of vehicle could perform such a task in Wasteland, and assemble it. There are no limits to the choice of parts, even if you build a jeep on tracks (just make sure no animals get hurt).

Assignment:
  • Assemble a safari vehicle in an (imaginary) forest in a Wasteland environment.
  • Take a screenshot of this vehicle and post it on Steam, indicating the game nickname and hashtag #XO_SFR.
  • The guide on how to take and upload your screenshot on Steam can be found here.
Prizes: authors of best 3 entries will receive a reward of 500 coins and an epic "Amusement container".

Let’s continue to learn what awaits us in the next update! Today we will tell you about other new parts that will appear in the new season and show the first screenshots from the updated map “Old Town”. Let’s go!

We remind you that all the new features described in the “Developer blog” are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not make it into the game at all. This applies not only to information about possible unique features of new parts, but also to the appearance of the parts themselves.

Legendary laser drill

This weapon is a direct continuation of the already familiar “Trigger”, and fans of this drill will definitely appreciate its “older brother”! More durability, more damage and a perk mechanic that is slightly more demanding for the player’s skills, but is also rewarding at the same time.

If you have dealt damage to opponents throughout the entire shot of the drill, and all periodic damage has been dealt to vehicles, then in the end the shot will deal 800% more damage and heat up the part by 10% more.

As using the perk requires a certain amount of skill and dexterity, we will also increase the range and rotation speed of the new laser drill in relation to “Trigger”.

Structural parts

With the new season, 6 new structural parts will be added to the game. The amount in which a certain part will be issued is still being discussed. We invite you to take a look at a couple of new parts that are already finished!



What else can we expect in this update?

Updated maps, of course! Today we invite you to look at how the “Old Town” has changed.

One of the main problems of this location mentioned by players was the very limited manoeuvring space: narrow passages combined with an abundance of obstacles. We tried to add more space and removed unnecessary obstacles and distractions. In a number of places, where it seemed appropriate, we have replaced obstacles with destructible objects. The centre of the map has become a more inviting place to fight due to the covers, but at the same time, the variability of passages is also there and you can always try to catch the enemy by surprise.

We have updated not only the arrangement of objects and the width of passageways, but also the visual appearance of the “Old town” and its vegetation. It was important for us to not just present you a redesigned version of the location, but also to preserve the atmosphere of a once cozy town with small streets.

We look forward to participating in battles in the renovated “Old town”. We hope that you will join us!

Today 7 September 2021 at 15:00 UTC we invite you to participate in battles with the Crossout community managers!
The battles will be held in “Custom battle” mode on the armoured vehicle builds prepared in advance.
To get into the battle, you need to turn on the general chat in the game and after the message from G00DMEN about the start of battles, respond with “+” to him in private messages.
To get the reward, you need to destroy the armoured car of any member of the CM team.

Rules:
  • The battles are held in “Custom battle” mode, Battle type: “Mission against survivors (PvP)”
  • “Shared blueprint” setting is enabled
Reward:

Dawn’s Children mercenary Robin was desperately bored standing guard. For a hundred thousandth time, he observed an empty corridor of the scientific complex, brightly illuminated with fluorescent lamps with a dreary look. Then for a few seconds he stared at the strong iron door of the guarded warehouse, on which nothing new had appeared since the last inspection. After that, his gaze stopped at the partner-guard. Yawning, Robin lazily asked:

— Connor, I wanted to ask you something… Do you even know what we are guarding? Usually, one guard is more than enough for this place…

The second mercenary shrugged and boredly replied:

— Who knows? I saw some boxes were brought yesterday, and they were loaded exactly here. The eggheads were running around as if they had a year’s supply of booze inside those boxes. They’re not supposed to be here for long, they have to take them somewhere else tomorrow. Probably some other terrifying cannons, which operation mechanism can only be understood by those who consider a chemical defense suit the latest fashion. Still, no one will ever give any of them into our hands...

Connor was going to spit, but he looked at the clean scraped floor and changed his mind. Instead, he waved his hand and turned away, clearly believing that the conversation was over. However, Robin wasn’t going to lose at least some fun and tried to continue:

— By the way, did you hear that someone leaked the info about the attack on us to the bosses? I was standing at the command post yesterday and overheard the conversation of the Children. You think that’s true?

Connor looked at his chatty partner with irritation.

— Doesn’t matter what I think – the eggheads believed it, apparently. I heard from a friend among the guards that yesterday they ordered to double the patrols. Although I think attacking us here is suicide. The Dawn’s gathered so many mercenaries and so many guns... Anyone will break their teeth on our defense. The minefields alone are enough! Do you remember how the pillboxes in the ruins were equipped?

Robin gave an exaggeratedly sorrowful groan, then laughed:

— Oh, don’t remind me! We spent so much energy clearing the tunnels that led to them, I think I still have some stone dust on my teeth... But, all in all, the Children did well. No matter what you say, they pay great money — I wouldn’t mind working for such payments.

Connor grinned, nodded, and wanted to say something, but the words stuck in his throat as the corridor was suddenly illuminated with an alarming scarlet light and a mechanical voice rumbled from the speakers hidden within the walls:

— ALERT! HAZARD CODE – BLACK! MILITARY PERSONNEL MUST OCCUPY THE PLACES ON THE EASTERN DEFENSE RING! ZERO PRIORITY! ALERT!

Robin looked at his partner with an exasperated look on his face, waved to him and ran to his post, clattering his army boots on the concrete and hearing the same clatter from all sides. His feet were carrying him through the corridors towards the pillbox assigned to him, and his mind was buzzing with thoughts: “Right, zero priority means that all fighters are expected to be at the front line. And the black hazard code is the highest level of threat, declared when they are attacked by clearly superior forces. Some system they got… Why can’t the eggheads have it like normal people?

Robin ran up the steep stairwell in the tunnel, almost tripping over the thick pile of cables on the floor in his haste, and ran up to the control panel of the “Synthesis” turret. His fingers ran expertly over the buttons and toggle switches on the panel, repeating the motions he had learned during his training. There was a growing buzzing sound in the depths of the device, the block of energy cells began to slowly rotate, and there was a smell of ozone in the air. Finally, the camouflage plate covering the turret moved aside, and the mercenary could see what was going on in front of the lab.

His pillbox — like many others the Dawn Children had equipped in recent months — was an internally fortified room in the ruins of what had been one of the laboratory’s satellite buildings before the Catastrophe, connected to it by an underground corridor. From the outside it was no different from the other similar ash-covered ruins around the scientific complex, and any signals from the equipment inside were dampened by shielded armoured walls. According to the idea of the Dawn’s Children’s engineers, the firing sectors of these pillboxes were to control the passages in the minefields surrounding the laboratory. The picture before Robin’s eyes made it clear that things hadn’t gone according to plan.

A multitude of predatory combat vehicles glided across the minefield on hovers, scouring the space around them with their red beams and easily bypassing the seemingly well-camouflaged mines. The hulls of these machines were dotted with clusters of darkly burning oculars. Ravagers! They were actively engaged in a firefight with the armored vehicles of the scientists who came to intercept them — but they had no room for maneuver because they had to keep to the safe passages in the minefield that they were aware of. And they died, dying under the inhumanely precise fire of intelligent machines that were spitting out laser beams and plasma charges.

The Ravagers themselves disdainfully ignored the random gunfire of the lab defenders, taking the occasional hits on the shimmering bubble-like force shields. The only problems they had were with the Children's combat drones, which were unaffected by mines and their maneuverability allowed them to dodge even computer-directed shots of the Ravagers. But the drones’ weapons were too weak to penetrate the force shields, so they were nothing but an annoying nuisance.

For a few seconds, Robin stared at this nightmare in disbelief. It’s not supposed to be happening! No one expected that the enemy would be able to detect mines so easily and turn them against the defenders! And why were the attackers spotted so late? Where are the famous reinforced patrols? Where’s the long-range recon?

As he asked himself these questions, he didn’t immediately notice the piercing whistle that was rising up. But he could no longer ignore a fireball, shining like a blue sun, coming from the side of the laboratory. The whistle was cut short as this projectile fell near one of the Ravagers — and the battlefield disappeared in a blinding flash. The mercenary thought he had gone blind, but a moment later his senses returned, and through the rainbow flashes floating before his eyes he saw that the impact had left a molten crater, surrounded by charred pieces of the robot that had seemed invulnerable just recently. Robin muttered something under his breath:

— Wow, here are the “Pulsars” in action... So powerful...

The downed Ravager didn't make much of a difference on the battlefield, but this shot showed that they could be defeated, and seemed to dispel some kind of a delusion. One by one, the pillboxes came to life, opening fire from powerful stationary weapons — multi-barrelled lasers and rapid-fire plasma emitters.

Robin shook off his numbness, too. He gripped the controls until his knuckles turned white, aimed his turret at the nearest Ravagers and frantically squeezed the triggers. The power unit spun with a howl, turning into a greased spindle, and a chain of red-hot plasma charges streamed towards the enemy. The force shield flickered, scattering them... and burst as a glowing spear of laser beam from another pillbox embedded pierced it. A line of plasma charges pierced one of the Ravager’s engines, and the combat vehicle suddenly swayed sideways. Desperately trying to balance it out, the robot hit the ground and disappeared in a fiery flash — the mines finally caught their prey.

With a grin, Robin turned his fire on the other target. He was joined by the remaining drones in the air, and together they overloaded the force shields and simply tore the iron monster to pieces. There was another ear-piercing whistle, and a moment later another Ravager was almost vaporized by a direct hit from the “Pulsar”. The armoured vehicles of the scientists delayed the swift attack of the combat robots by letting the stationary defenses engage, and the balance of power slowly began to tilt in favor of the defenders. Until three pillboxes disappeared in a barrage of destructive fire at once.

Robin, who saw it, looked up in astonishment to where the monstrous blow had come from, and something broke inside him. In the distance, a huge cloud of ash was swirling and rapidly approaching. Inside it, hundreds of demon eyes blazed with red bright lights and the colossal predatory silhouettes rose up. The silhouettes were much bigger than any armoured vehicle that Robin had ever seen. The mercenary realized the bitter truth — all this time they fought only with the advanced detachment of the Ravagers, and now the main forces approached. And this was his last thought.
