Crossout - XO_Team

Time has not preserved the name of our hero. We’ll call him Troy.
Time did not leave a mark in the calendar. Let's assume that New Year and Christmas were somewhere close.
Time did not preserve the details when Troy was alone with the road. But we will still tell this story exactly as we heard it from a merchant on a market somewhere near Rock City. The story of how little in our life depends on our plans.

***

Troy was an ordinary mechanic, and there were, to be honest, countless more like him in the Wasteland. He got up at sunrise and walked through the whole village to the garage, where he worked until the whole sky was already strewn with myriads of stars.
That night, as on many previous ones, he hung a padlock on the flimsy tin garage doors and, whistling a simple tune, went home through the main square of the village. At home, a modest, but dinner, was waiting for him. It was prepared by his future wife from products paid on the market instead of a regular salary.

None of the rare passers-by at such a late hour paid attention to an armoured car, which drove in from the eastern mountains. There were no faction logos on the sides of the vehicle, and no flags were wound around the antenna. This would make the driver an ordinary survivor looking for a haven, if it wasn’t for the Crasher located on the hood, covering half of the frontal armor plate.
The armored car door opened and the thick sole of an army boot sank to the ground. The driver was not going to leave the vehicle, he was fumbling around the passenger seat, as if collecting documents scattered around the cabin. But after eight seconds a hand appeared in the opening. There was a metal pin clamped in it, with a small box at the top. With one sharp movement, the sharp end of a metal rod was stuck into the sandstone a couple of centimeters from the stranger’s boot.
Nobody still paid any attention to him. There are lots of madmen around nowadays.
The car door slammed shut, the engine roared and the armored vehicle rushed towards the west, picking up speed with every second.
Later, Troy replayed this scene many times in his head, seen only out of the corner of his eye.

The first explosion happened somewhere outside the village, but everyone heard it. The sky on that side became crimson. Those who were awake stood still, those who were asleep jumped up next to their beds. There was such a ringing silence all around that one could hear someone in one of the houses cautiously asking, “Is it just me, or did the Mandrake fire nearby?”. No one was given an answer to this question, the village was covered with a barrage of shells. They fell so chaotically, splashing burning puddles around that it was impossible to deliberately hide from them.
Troy understood this and just ran straight, ignoring the fire under his feet, his boots could survive more worse. He understood that any shell that fell nearby was certain death. But he kept running and running, because there was only one thought throbbing in his head: “Mei, Mei, Mei”.
He did not see the moment the shell hit his house. When he got there, there were only torn up containers left in front of him, with streams of fire flowing from them. It was impossible to survive in this hell. The whole world, everything that he loved ceased to exist in those ten seconds of running. He froze, staring frantically before him. The explosions sounded less and less frequent, and the screams of the few survivors did not reach his ears. Torn apart by the emptiness that had formed so abruptly inside, he first fell to his knees, and then lay down altogether, resting his head on the heated sand. Flames danced in his eyes, fists clenched in blind rage, and the elusive silhouette of a man in an armored car with the Crusher, wearing heavy army boots, sat in his head.

The damage to the village was colossal. For one surviving house there were three destroyed. Even the garage got it, although there were legends that it was like a bunker, made of special cement. The roof was hit, and a shell that exploded inside destroyed most of the electronics, completely destroyed one armored car and seriously damaged another.
Troy locked himself in his garage for seven days. For seven days, the sounds of working with metal were heard from there with rare interruptions. For seven days, the surviving fellow villagers came to him every day. Some asked for help, some offered his own. He didn’t open the door to anyone. What he was building there remained a mystery to them, because on the eighth night, at the hour of the wolf, when most of the villagers slept soundly, he pushed his armored car out of the village without starting the engine. As always, after a while there were eyewitnesses. Some argued that his armored car was in the shape of a beast, others that it was a truck, and others generally recalled a motorcycle, as on the cover of a magazine recently found at a nearby factory. The only thing they agreed on was that Troy headed west.

Rumours about Scar AB's collection and the skill of the engineers who craft and expand it are rapidly spreading throughout the Valley. Recently, one of the trading clans turned to the Scavenger leader with the request to build several armoured vehicles to accompany the caravans, but with a special condition. All vehicles have to be similar to real-life models with slight modifications. The sense of style is not dead and gone even in this wasted world, and it's good.

We will select the top 4 entries, and their authors will get a reward of 300 coins and an epic "Amusement container"!

Assignment: build a vehicle based on the car below, lightly armoured, with machine guns and reinforced suspension.

All of the details can be found here. Good luck!

Hello!

As we announced earlier, we will have an update this week with a new PvP map. But it’s not only about the map! There’s still a lot of interesting things to come and today we would like to share information about what will appear in the in-game store on PC and PS4 for the first time: The bundles with cosmetic items for coins!

Yes, you can get them for the coins you can earn in the game! A total of 4 packs is planned: a set with unique decor and even wheel hubcaps, 1 set with paints and 1 set with themed stickers. Every set can be purchased only once, but, if necessary, you can also buy additional decor separately.

We also note that the possibility of purchasing bundles with cosmetic items for coins will be launched in test mode, and the final decision on its future will be made later.
Anticipating possible questions about the customization kits for weapons, we remind you that this matter is currently being worked at. At the moment there is no information in what form they will return to the game and how exactly they will be purchased. But we will definitely share it as soon as we learn something new!

For now, here is the contest with the new decor packs as prizes! The conditions are simple:
  • Come up with a funny or original name for the pack, which would consist of everything you see on the picture.
  • Submit your entry in the comments to this post.
  • Wait for the results to be summed up :)
  • On Wednesday, November 25th, we will select 10 best options (in our opinion), and their authors will receive all the depicted packs with the release of the next update.
Good luck!

Seeker We-e’s report on an unexpected encounter with Shado.

Shado came to me himself when I spent the night by the fire writing my next report. The samurai silently walked out of the darkness and immediately declared that he had committed the bloodiest massacre in the history of the wasteland and wanted everyone to know about it. In response to my silence, he took out a sack covered with crimson spots from behind his back and threw it on the ground. The bloodied head of the old man rolled out of the bag at my feet.

“It's in your best interest, shark. You are the type of person who loves entertaining stories.

Shado sat down opposite of me, placed his katana in front of him, and continued.

- This is the head of one of my teachers, I cut it off with this sword. We were bound by an oath of allegiance. I am not a perjurer, survivor. Although your opinion does not bother me. You in the Order do not understand what it means to take an oath. Once this man saved Shado from death: when I was weak and young, the raiders destroyed my armoured car, and buried me in the sand. Accidentally bumping into a hand sticking out of the ground, my future master took me to his hangar and nursed me for many months. I was already dead, shark, I saw shadows - since then I have become a part of them.

The samurai took the severed head in his hands:

- Benkei - so he called himself. Master showed me the way of the warrior and taught me to follow it. But when I gave him an oath of allegiance, the master disappeared. For many years I wandered around the wasteland, but I remained a ronin - a samurai without a master. His disappearance was even associated with the Ravagers... Later I found my refuge with the nomads. We fought many glorious battles together until I learned that Benkei was alive.

The warrior sighed heavily, turned to the fire and added several large sticks there.

- He lost his memory, was very weak, but still conscious. It is not known where he was all this time, but the enemies did not forget Benkei. The Raiders found him exhausted in the wasteland and sold him to the Mud turtle clan - the owner once killed the brother of their leader, and he wanted revenge. These lowlifes humiliated the master, burning the skin with a red-hot iron, until my katana, emerging from the shadows, sent them to meet their ancestors. This clan no longer exists. Benkei was free, but his journey came to an end. He could not speak, and I handed him my tanto knife. The master sat down on his knees, and his eyes lit up with clarity, then he ripped his stomach open. At that moment I cut off Benkei’s head. We are both calm now. He went through so many hardships, but died happy. The samurai path, shark, is the pursuit for death.

Shado got to his feet and, slinging his sword to his belt, added:

- Only honor can save this cursed land.

At that moment, he threw the head of his teacher into the fire, where it immediately flared brightly. When the fire calmed down, the samurai had already disappeared into the shadows.

Shado portrait is currently unavailable to players.
